"Um... could you repeat that?"

Piper groaned as Nico was barely listening to her, still rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. She'd marched up to the Hades cabin as soon as she knew he'd be alone, and gods it was early. "It's about Y/N and Jason."

"What about them?"

"They're in love."

Nico stopped abruptly, his eyebrows furrowing. The daughter of Aphrodite rolled her eyes. "Come on, it's so obvious! Don't tell me you didn't notice."

No, he did notice. Y/N nearly pestered her brother with how much she liked Jason whenever they were alone in Cabin 13.

She never outright said she liked him, but it was pretty obvious.

Normally Nico would not be happy about Y/N getting involved in a relationship of any sorts. She was his big sister, his idol, the person he looked up to. And he wanted to protect her at all costs after losing Bianca. Heartbreak could hurt just as bad as death, after all. She was one of the few people he would trust his life with.

But he could see how happy Jason truly made her. Besides, he was another one of those people.

"I... I guess you're right. I did notice. So what?"

"They need to get together already." Piper waved her hands in the air. It wasn't like her to be dramatic, Nico knew, but it was just out of her excitement.

Nico shrugged. "They're not gonna do anything, you know how Y/N and Jason are."

Piper's eyes shone with mischief. "I know. So I made a plan to set them up."

"Oh no"

"And you're going to help me."

"Hey Y/N." Nico called.

"Hah?" His older sister was focused on brushing out the knots in her hair.

He came into the bathroom and took a dark grey hoodie from the laundry to pull it over his head. Y/N paused. "That's not washed."

Nico shrugged.

"What do you want?"

"Well... I have a question." He grabbed his own hairbrush. "Do you have a crush on Jason?"

The Hades girl slowly continued with her locks after blinking a few times. "What makes you say that?"

He shrugged again. "I just thought you kind of act different around him."

"Do I?"

Yup.

"Yeah."

Nico looked at her through the mirror, and she suddenly felt uncomfortable under her brother's obsidian gaze.

"No. We're just friends."

That was a lie.

"Well-"

"Focus on your own business." She finished up her hair and left the bathroom.

Nico rolled his eyes, mumbling out a "Okay, whatever L/N." That was over quick.

Y/N and Nico sat at the Hades table, while the former stuffed a sandwich into her mouth. Piper strode over to them, dragging a suprisingly annoyed looking Jason with her. The pair sat down.

"Hey guys!" Piper chirped.

It was breakfast, so there were no assigned seats. Jason sometimes sat with them, but Piper usually stayed at her own table with her siblings. Weird.

"Hi."

"Mm."

Piper's cup filled with strawberry nectar, she took a swift sip. "So" She started. "I've been thinking.."

Y/N nodded for her to go on.

"We should take a walk on the beach tonight! Jason and I talked and want to hang out with you guys."

"Have we?"

Piper elbowed the son of Jupiter.

"The harpies might find us." Y/N pointed out.

"Still!" Nico insisted, his voice unintentionally an octave higher. He cleared his throat. "I mean, it might be nice."

His sister raised an eyebrow at him. "Since when have you been one for walks?"

"Uh... I'll take Will with me..?"

Jason looked at Piper. "And you?"

She shrugged. "Dunno. Just think it might be fun."

Her explaination was so impossibly vague that it actually sounded believable.

Y/N and Jason shared a look, deciding that their friends were definetely weird but not saying anything about it. "Fine."

Jason stood by the waters, his gaze trailing over the waves. His attention was caught by the sound of sand crunching behind him.

Y/N gave a little wave, smiling. Though they both noticed something off.

It was only the two of them.

Jason furrowed his brows. "Where's-?"

"Nico's not feeling well, and Will wants to stay with him."

"Oh."

"Piper?"

Jason shook his head. "She said... she's not coming, and wanted me to stay close to you."

Y/N looked over at Jason nervously, who looked just as awkward as she felt. Like a deer in headlights.

"Uh..."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Do you know what this is about?"

She shifted. "Yeah. I think I do." And she did not like it one bit. "You?"

The son of Jupiter sighed. "I do. Piper told me."

Piper told him?

Y/N's heart sank a little. "Did she now.."

He cleared his throat. "Yeah." She rarely ever saw him this nervous. "But! I wanna say something first."

This was it. He was going to reject her, tell her her feelings were futile and put her out of her misery. Maybe it was better this way.

"So... this probably isn't the best way to approach it, but" He laughs nervously. "I like you."

That is where Y/N's mind goes blank.

"You..." She swallowed down her sudden dizziness. "You... have a crush on me?"

Jason sighs, running a hand through his hair. A pit grows in his stomach, though he expected this kind of reaction.

"I know, I know." He pauses. "Sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. It's just that I've liked you for some time and wanted to tell you."

He shifts on his feet. "I was just scared of being rejected."

"Jason!" Y/N exclaimed, and she sounds nearly horrified. "You're literally perfect, why in the world would I reject you?"

Hoooold up.

"I'm perfect?" Jason furrowed his brows in genuine suprise. "Have you seen you?"

The daughter of Hades only laughed with a flushed face, and he came to realize how much he liked the sound. She didn't laugh often, but hell he wished she did because the sound was hypnotizing. 

There were many things Jason Grace was known to be; a son of the Big Three, calm, collected, popular, a former praetor. Being a flustered idiot was not one of them, but what could he do? When it came to Y/N he was a lovestruck fool.

He smiles. "I take it that means you like me too?"

She rolls her eyes playfully. "Duh."

"So... that makes us boyfriend and girlfriend, right?" He pressed out.

"Guess so."

Jason grinned. "Then, as my girlfriend, you wouldn't mind if I do this, right?" He leaned in slowly, waiting for her to back away, but she could only nod shyly with a red face.

Then he kissed her, and Y/N could not have cared less about the world around them.
