December 19th, 1984

𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟏𝟗𝐭𝐡. the day bella had secretly been dreading, but she couldn't let dutch or the others know that. since john and janet had to work, she would fill them in on the events later. wyatt and deacon however were there with their sister.

bella wore dutch's cobra kai jacket, as she, mr. miyagi, (whom she thought was an absolute gem), ali, and daniel, were getting him registered for the tournament.

"let's see 'miyaji', what belt are you?" a referee asked

"belt?" daniel asked

"why matter?" mr. miyagi asked

"these open divisions are only for brown belt or above." the referee explained

"oh yeah, boy black belt." mr. miyagi lied

"okay, you better hustle they're starting down the hall to your left." the referee said

ali gave daniel a quick kiss on the cheek and a pat on the back. "we'll see you inside." she smiled

bella smiled as she embraced daniel as well. "see you out there, daniel. good luck."

daniel nodded and walked to the changing rooms, as bella and ali started to walk to the arena, but mr. miyagi gently grabbed ali's arm and gently pulling her back, towards the bag on the chair so bella stopped and waited for her best friend.

"excuse me, mr. referee this is not 'miyagi'. "miyagi" mr. miyagi corrected him. as he was doing this, mr. miyagi passed the black belt out of the bag of and he passed it to ali, giving her a wink

"miyagi." the referee said. "okay, thank you."

"thank you very much." mr. miyagi said and bowed, then began walking with bella and ali

"i'm so happy for you and daniel." bella smiled. "this has been a long time coming."

"thanks, he makes me so happy bella." ali smiled

"i know." bella smiled. as she and ali kept walking towards the arena, she turned her head, and spotted her boyfriend and friends. "you two go ahead. i'd like to talk to dutch."

"hai, bella-san, but must hurry. tournament start, real soon." mr. miyagi said in a fatherly manner, then bowed to her and walked with ali the arena.

bella walked up to her boyfriend and gently tapped him on the shoulder, who turned around and saw the beautiful brunette. he pulled her in for a tight hug and gave her a passionate kiss.

bella gently rested her forehead against his, as she wrapped her arms around his neck, then said, "dutch, i want you to promise me you'll be careful out there.

dutch smiled, and confidently replied. "i always am."

"i'm serious." bella said

dutch could tell her mind and heart were deeply filled with worry, something — in his humble opinion — she shouldn't have. "hey, i promise everything will be alright." he reassured

bella gave him a gentle kiss, and his lips moved to her jawline, then down to her neck. "what do you say after this, we get out of here?" dutch asked

"i'd love that." bella smiled

"your place or mine?" dutch asked

"mom and dad are at the national finals rodeo in vegas filling in for their stock contractor friends. wyatt and deacon will be at the frat house." bella said.

"your place it is then." dutch said, as he kissed her lips, then his kiss moved down to her jaw and to her neck

"dutch, you've gotta go honey." bella said. "i promise, i'll be standing on the sidelines with ali. she has a plan. i love you."

dutch kissed her lips sweetly, then replied, "i love you more, beautiful."

the couple hesitantly pulled away, and walked in opposite directions: he went to the changing rooms, and bella left to find ali.

as daniel was fixing his karate gi, he was thinking about the tournament and how he was gonna beat the cobra kais. however, he didn't hear the footsteps of the cobras behind him and walk into his changing room.

dutch, jimmy, and bobby walked in behind him with smug smiles wearing their black and yellow cobra kai karate gis and wearing blue flip flops.

"well, well, well, look who we have here, fellas: our little friend, danielle." dutch taunted. "hello danielle. what's the matter, mommy not here to dress yah?" nice going dutch. keep it up. with this tournament, bella's gonna see the man you really are, and she'll dump you.

daniel was not responding, and dutch was starting to get annoyed. tommy was laughing at the situation in amusement, as was leaning on the iron fence of the changing room. "hey, i'm talkin' to you, punk." dutch said as he pushed daniel into the leather bench of the changing room. this seemed to get daniel's attention as he turned around and got into stance. "come on, come on, make a move!" dutch said while still in stance

"hey, hey, save it for the ring. come on." the referee said, breaking daniel and dutch apart

dutch, who was annoyed, replied, "right."

"let's go. come on." the referee said sternly

dutch then turned around and got closer to daniel's face and pointed a finger at him. "you know, points or no points, you're dead meat."

"i said, out!" the referee yelled

bella and ali stood in the arena waiting for daniel and conversing, while ali was holding the black belt in her hand. "that's a beautiful necklace." the blonde smiled as she held the belt in her hand. "it has to be new."

"it is. dutch gave it to me last night." bella smiled

"the winner of the first match in the open division is lucas snyder." the announcer said over the intercom

"mr. miyagi!" daniel said, coming out of the changing rooms

"daniel-san. come, tournament starting." mr. miyagi  said, and the four started walking towards the ring, and ali tied the belt around daniel's waist.

daniel furrowed his brows in confusion. "hey, when did we get this?" he asked

"buddha provided." mr. miyagi said

"daniel larusso please report to ring 3 immediately." the announcer said

"where's ring 3?" daniel asked

mr. miyagi pointed towards the rings, as they continued walking. "over there."

"hold it! sorry, teachers and students only on the competition floor. i'm sorry." an official said as he looked at bella and ali

"he doesn't speak english, and i can't understand his instructions without her, she's his translator." daniel said pointing to ali.

mr. miyagi looked at ali and said something in japanese, and the official looked at ali. "what did he say?"

"oh he says you remind him of an uncle he has back in tokyo." ali smiled

the official turned to bella and asked, "what about you, young lady?"

"oh she's his motivator. he needs her to compete in the tournament." ali said

"ah, i guess it's okay." the official said. mr. miyagi looked at ali and said something else in japanese. "what?" the official asked the blonde

"oh he says your very kind." ali smiled

the referee turned to mr. miyagi, smiled and bowed, "ah, thank you."

mr. miyagi bowed as well, then replied, "welcome."

bella smiled at ali who shot her a wink as they started walking towards the ring. bella was looking for wyatt and deacon in the crowd she didn't even hear that daniel was freaking out.

"oh great i'm dead. i am dead, you told me you fought a lot." daniel said

"fought for life, not for points." mr. miyagi replied

"daniel, look everything above your waist is a point. you can hit the head, you can hit the sternum, the kidneys and the ribs, got it?" ali explained

"i hope so." daniel said

"you can do it." ali said

"you've got this dan." bella smiled

as the four continued to walk towards the ring, ali rubbed daniel's arm, and the cobra kais jogged and chanted the dojo name, making sure to bump into daniel. bella felt a slap to her ass, and she saw dutch winking at her.

daniel rolled his eyes in annoyance. "hey!"

"hey when are you jerks gonna grow up?!" ali rhetorically asked, while rolling her eyes

"where am i? over at this one?" daniel asked

"number 3." mr. miyagi replied

as bella and ali stood back, daniel and mr. miyagi walked in front of the girls to the mat. "what's that guy kneeling like that for?" daniel nervously asked

"don't know." mr. miyagi replied

"wait. don't you know anything you can tell me?" daniel asked. "hai. no get hit." mr. miyagi responded

bella and ali watched as daniel stepped on to the mat and the boy on the mat jumped to his feet. bella felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around and saw her brothers. "hey sis, we're sitting behind you and ali." wyatt smiled.

"okay." bella smiled, then turned around to watch the fight

"bow. face. bow. en garde. fight!" the referee said

daniel got into his fighting position. daniel's opponent lunged forward, lifting his leg to kick daniel, but daniel jumped backwards, landing out of bounds. mr. miyagi gently pushed him back to the mat as the other boy got back into his position

"back on your line." the referee instructed

"no point. en garde. ready. fight!" the referee yelled

"come on. be tough!" ali encouraged

the opponent ran at daniel again, sending multiple jab punches. daniel jumped out of bounds again, grabbing onto mr. miyagi as he did so

"daniel-san, remember you defense. points will come. focus power...remember balance make good fight." mr. miyagi said while gently pushing him back towards the mat

"warning for running out of the ring. one more will cost you a point. en garde, ready?" the referee said

daniel glanced over at mr. miyagi who gave him a nod, and bella and ali gave him a smile. "guard. fight!" the referee shouted

daniel got into normal stance. he managed to move to the side and kick underneath his opponents stomach. his opponent dropped to the floor holding his stomach in pain, and the crowd cheered.

"all right, daniel, that's one. come on!" ali cheered

bella smiled as clapped as well. "come on daniel!"

"one more." ali cheered

"come back on your line. that's one point, round kick. fight!" the referee said

daniel elbowed his opponent's side and his opponent fell, and daniel won the match. "all right, daniel! you're the best! you're the best! you're the best!" ali shouted happily as she hugged daniel's neck and kissed his cheek

when it was bobby's turn to fight, bella watched as he bowed to his opponent. both bobby and his opponent got into fighting stance. his opponent tried to kick him, but bobby swept his foot. while bobby and his opponent were fighting, lucille came up to ali, letting her know she was going to sit down. daniel was biting at his fingers nervously, and lucille sat beside wyatt and deacon who introduced themselves, and the three shook hands.

bobby's apponent tried to attack him, and, before it could get too bloody, the referee had to pull them apart. "you're history, man! you're dead!" bobby threatened as he fixed his karate gi with his jaw clenched. after bobby roundhouse kicked his opponent, he won the match.

next up was johnny. his opponent tried to punch him with his right hand, and he caught it and kicked his arm then face and won.

daniel was against another cobra kai member. He tried to kick daniel, but daniel won the match against him, and ali clapped for him with a proud smile on her face.

"point. winner." The referee said as he held up daniel's arm. daniel looked at the three people behind him. ali made a fist motion, mr. miyagi gave him a proud smile, and bella smiled warmly at him and said good job.

bella, ali, daniel, and mr. miyagi moved to the other side and watch the round of another cobra kai member against his opponent. the cobra kai member won the match.

next round was johnny's second match, and he won by kicking his opponent in the stomach. when it was jimmy's turn to fight daniel, jimmy tried to punch daniel, but daniel caught his wrist, and kicked him between the legs.

it was bobby's turn to fight again, and his opponent kept kicking him, and bobby kept jumping backwards, until he was out of bounds and caught by kreese.

bobby's opponent then tried to jab him with his left hand, and bobby caught the jabs with both hands, and went underneath him, putting his legs around his body, pulling him down with one foot up in the air. bobby won the match. he looked at kreese, who gave him the fist motion

tommy was next against daniel, and both were in fighting stance. when the referee shouted for them to fight, tommy went to kick daniel, who dodged just in time and switched positions, and just as daniel went to jab tommy, he caught it and punched the right side of his stomach. daniel carried on and got back in his position. daniel ended up winning the match and tommy was furious.

"no! no!" tommy shouted

dutch and johnny gave each other a fist bump, and the bleached blonde walked onto the mat, and he jumped up and down. daniel stepped on to the mat and dutch  cracked his neck.

"c'mon babe!" bella smiled, and dutch winked at her

"fight!" the referee shouted

dutch brought up his leg to kick and daniel ducked, making the kick fly over his head. as he went to jump back up, dutch moved his leg to the right, making his foot hit daniel's eye and earning a point. daniel lifted himself from the ground, rubbing his eye.

"en garde! fight!" the referee shouted

dutcg moved a little before coming forward to strike daniel. daniel kicked dutch's stomach, earning a point and winning the match. dutch was beyond pissed, and ran at daniel who kicked his chest. dutch looked at daniel and then back at bella. bella gave him a soft smile and dutch's expression seemed to soften greatly.

"hey dutch, someone wants to see you." johnny said as bella stood beside him and dutch smiled brightly.

bella ran up to dutch and embraced him tightly, after pulling away, she turned to her friends and spoke. "hey guys, i'm so proud of all of you, but can you give us a few minutes?" bella asked

"oh, sure. sure. dutch, you got condoms right?" tommy asked. "if not i got an extra in my bag."

dutch rolled his eyes in annoyance. "shut the fuck up man. first of all, i respect bella way to much. second of all, our first time will not be in the locker room. now get out."

johnny held his hands up in surrender. "geez, you make one suggestion to someone. bye bella. see you outside."

bella smiled as she turned back to her boyfriend, and rested her forehead against his, then ran her fingers through his hair, then placed a kiss on his lips. "i'm so proud of you. you did excellent out there."

"thanks beautiful." dutch said as he gave her a look full of pure love and adoration

bella smiled as she moved hair away from dutch's forehead. "you know it's about doing what you love. this is what you love doing right?"

dutch looked into her mesmerizing violet-blue eyes, before he spoke. "i mean, yes and no."

"what do you mean, sweetheart? i thought this was something you were passionate about." bella said

"you're more important to me than karate." dutch said as he caressed her face

bella smiled a she kissed his palm, then laid her head on his shoulder. "oh dutch, you're everything to me, and more."

"you're everything to me, bella." dutch said as he placed a delicate kiss on her forehead. "you always have been, from the moment i first saw you at the dance hall."

the couple stood up and walked towards the arena together. dutch gave bella a smile full of love and adoration and she returned it, then gave her a passionate kiss.

"i love you." dutch smiled

"i love you too." bella smiled as she rested her forehead against his.

the couple reluctantly let go of each other's hands and went their separate ways: he walked to kreese and the cobra kais, while bella walked over to ali who was waving her over.

"hey, there you are." ali smiled as she embraced her best friend. "what took you so long? did you two go at it in there?"

bella rolled her eyes and laughed. "no ali, we didn't have sex in the locker room. even though i wanted to, but we didn't. i was reassuring dutch i was proud of him, no matter what he placed. speaking of, have a sinking feeling in my stomach, like something bad is about to happen."

"well, it's almost over. the semi-finals are about to start." ali said as she and the brunette walked to daniel and mr. miyagi.

"never thought i'd get this far." daniel said as mr. miyagi placed a bandage on his side

"that make two of us." mr. miyagi said

"wouldn't it be great if i won?" daniel asked

"be great you survive." mr. miyagi said

"survive? what do you mean survive?" daniel said

"hey you sure you're okay?" ali asked daniel as she and bella walked up to him and mr. miyagi

"yeah i'm fine, as long as i don't move." daniel said

"are you sure?" bella asked

"yeah, i'm sure." daniel said

"yeah well you gotta move now. come on you gotta sign in they're starting." ali said

"they're starting now?" daniel asked

"yeah." ali said, as she and bella led daniel and mr. miyagi to where they needed to go

"hey, what do you mean, survive? what are you talking about?" daniel asked

bella walked to the bleachers and took a seat next to her brothers, who were eating popcorn from the bag. "there you are. what took you so long? we saw you go in the locker room. did you and dutch fuck?" wyatt asked, and deacon laughed

bella rolled her eyes and slapped her older brother upside the head. "must you be so disgusting? no, we did not have sex in the locker room. i was reassuring him i was proud of him no matter what."

"ladies and gentlemen, may i have your, attention please? this is the first semifinal match of the afternoon. defending champion, john lawrence of the cobra kai, two-time winner of the all valley under 18 golden trophy. he'll be facing danny duval of the locust valley karate club. three points wins. will the contestants please come to the ring? good luck, gentlemen." the ring announcer announced

"go get him johnny. get him!" bobby said

johnny and danny duval bowed to the referee then at each other and johnny missed his opponents round kick. danny kicked again, but missed johnny and the blonde kept kicking at danny, but danny dodged them. after many kicks and punches, johnny won the first round.

johnny's opponet held his stomach in pain the referee asking him if he was okay, to which he responded he was. in the final round, johnny kicked him twice

johnny kicked him twice again, which he dodged before he managed to get his opponent in the chest and he fell down again. johnny walked over to the cobra kais who gave him a pat on the back.

"the next semifinal will determine who will face the defending champion. will daniel larusso of the miyaji-do karate and bobby brown of the cobra kai..." the announcer said

bella saw bobby's face fall as he spoke with sensei. "huys." she said as she got her brothers' attention

"what the fuck is going on over there?" deacon asked as he ate popcorn from the bag

"i don't know, but i've had a sinking feeling all day." bella said

daniel reached the line and both him and bobby bowed to each other. "do what you gotta do bobby." a cobra kai member said

"face, bow." the referee said. "watch the patrol gentlemen." the referee said. "ready. fight."

bobby ran forward and jumped high into the air, appearing to throw a flying sidekick. daniel brought his hands up. but instead of kicking out, bobby dropped and pushed the blade of his foot into daniel's knee, the full weight of his body behind it. a sickening crack could be heard, as daniel collapsed and the crowd shouted in concern. mr. miyagi rushed towards him.

"daniel-san!" mr. miyagi said as he ran to daniel

bella turned and saw bobby kneel towards daniel. "daniel. daniel, i'm sorry. i'm sorry man, i didn't mean it! i'm sorry! i'm sorry! i'm so sorry! i'm so sorry!" he sincerely and profusely apologized before the referee and mr. miyagi managed to pull him away.

"my leg! no! my leg hurts, mr. miyagi! my leg hurts." daniel said in pain

"miyagi here, daniel-san. okay." mr. miyagi said

bella, who knew something wasn't right the minute bobby stepped on to the mat, got out of her brothers' grip, and she rushed to her best friend, who was in pain, from something he clearly didn't want to do, ignoring the referee, who said she couldn't be on the mat. "he was forced to fight dirty." she said to the referee.

"bobby?" bella said, as she placed a hand on his shoulder and sat beside him

bobby was frantic, he gripped her shoulders. he had tears in his eyes. "bella, i swear i didn't want to do it. you've got to believe me. please believe me." bobby said through unshed tears, as he gripped the collar of her shirt

"i believe you, bobby. i believe you. i know you didn't want to do this. i know it was your sensei. you're not a bad person. you're not the real bully either. you were all mislead by kreese." bella reassured

"thank you bella. thank you so much" bobby said, then pulled her in for a tight embrace

"of course." bella said, returning the embrace. "you're gonna be all right."

"daniel has 15 minutes to return to the ring." the announcer said. "if he is unable to return, john lawrence will be awarded first place automatically by default."

ali and lucille followed the sports medicine team into the locker room, as bobby walked back over to the cobra kais to sit back down, and she sat down beside her brother and friend.

dutch looked for bella, and finally made eye contact with her. he mouthed i'm so sorry, and she returned the soft smile. all bella could do was hold on to hope that everything would be okay.
