"So where are we going?" Kate asked as the three (and the dog) walked down the steps into the Chambers Street subway station.
"Getting further away from those people trying to kill you," Clint told.
"Right. And after that?"
"We'll need some supplies," Ayla piped up.
"Hell yeah," Kate smiled. "Avengers supplies?"
Clint grabbed two boxes of Neosporin off the shelf as Ayla found cotton swabs.
"Not gonna lie to you, this is a bit of a let down," Kate said, standing awkwardly in the aisle holding a bow.
"Sorry to disappoint you," Clint said.
"Grab me some of that rubbing alcohol," Ayla said, pointing towards the shelf near the end of the aisle. "Lower shelf."
"So what's the plan now?" Kate asked. "Let me guess. We're going to your safe house? Is it in Avengers Tower?"
"No. Tony sold that," Clint said. "A few years ago."
"That is so sad on so many levels," Kate muttered.
"We have to find somewhere to stash you," Ayla told Kate as they stood in the checkout line.
"We? No, I'm stashing you as well. You don't need to get anymore involved than you already are," Clint told his daughter. "Then I'll recover the suit and clean up Kate's mess."
"Stash us? We're not bags of money," Kate smirked.
"No, you're not. A bag of money would be useful to me," Clint said as he stepped up to the counter. "Hi, how are you? Merry Chirstmas."
"I actually do know a place about 10 blocks away. Would a bag of money know a place?"
The trio stood outside an apartment building as Kate clicked the button for a random apartments buzzer.
"Y'ello?" A man on the Comm said.
"Yes, hey, uh...Hi. Yeah, we're... Uh, I got pizza. I got a pi...Uh-huh. Mm. Yep. That's..." Finally Kates rambling was cut off by the sound of the door unlocking.
"Okay, not exactly a fortress, but it'll do, right?" Kate said as they walked up to an apartment door. "It's my aunt's place. She's in Florida for the winter." She handed Ayla her bow. "Hold that for a minute."
"Is there cats in here?" Clint asked as he walked around the apartment once Kate had picked the lock.
"Just cat hair," Kate told him.
"Here. You two help each other clean your wounds or whatever," Clint said, unbagging the supplies. "Use soap, this, and disinfect it. All right. I'm going back to your apartment to get that suit. And then Ayla and I are going back to our family."
"Oh, yes, Clint, you may enter my apartment. Don't you need my keys?" Kate asked.
"Nope. I'm good. Stay here, lock this door."
Ayla stood between Kates legs as she cleaned the wound on her forehead.
"Ow," Kate hissed when Ayla dabbed the peroxide on it.
"Sorry" Ayla muttered, focused on cleaning the wound up.
"You seem quite familiar with bandaging wounds," Kate said, trying to make conversation.
"Well, I was a very clumsy child and my dad was an avenger. You pick up a few skills over the years," She responded, finishing her work with a clean bandage. "All done."
"Thanks," Kate smiled awkwardly.
