"Ok but when will you be here? I don't wanna be late Nalani." Kyzion mumbled, on FaceTime with her per usual. She loved how sweet he kept his tone with her.

Today, Nalani officially hit the four month mark in her pregnancy, and they had previously scheduled her check-up appointment specifically on this day-well, Kyzion had.

While he was home waiting on her to come and get him, Nalani was out shopping with Skye, one of their favorite activities.

Of course Kyzion couldn't be without Nalani for long, and had called her to see when he'd be getting picked up, but only because she wasn't as good with time management as he was.

"I'll be there in an hour Kazi." She chuckled, her AirPods in her ear as she tried to fit a pair of chan sneakers on Skye's small foot.

"You sure?"

"Yes now byeeee." She sung, using her AirPod to end the call, and then smiled as two messages from him immediately came through.

She didn't even check it, knowing that he was probably going off on her for hanging up on him since she knew that he didn't like that.

"Ok baby, do you like these?" Nalani asked after loosely tying them.

"I don't really like that blue strip." Skye pointed at her white shoes, and Nalani held it up to look at it.

"Well. Guess that's a no then, huh?" She pulled the shoe off, and Skye shrugged, randomly kicking her feet back and forth in the seat she sat in.

"This is why I let your daddy shop for shoes. You probably wanna go to Foot Locker and ion like you for that." Nalani told her, smiling once she laughed.

She was a sneaker head just like her father, and Nalani was as well-the only difference being that Nalani liked high end shoes while they liked Jordan's and shoes like that.

Nalani loved to play dress up with her daughter, but she was such a daddy's girl that she even had his clothing mannerisms. She'd rather wear shorts, a T-shirt and a pair of sneakers over a dress and Chanel sandals.

Nalani would buy either or, but that didn't mean she had to like it. Skye could have whatever she wanted though, and her mom would just have to settle for it until she wanted to dress up.

"Mommy can we go to Auntie Anne's next?" Skye asked as they walked to check out to pay for some shoes for Nalani.

"Yeah baby. You wanna go to another store, or no?" She swiped her card for the shoes the clerk was bagging up, and then entered her pin.

"Nope." Skye held her hand, and she chuckled, grabbing the three bags from the employee, and then they walked out of the store.

After leaving the store, the two of them went to the Auntie Anne's and ordered two cinnamon sugar pretzels, two cups of pretzel dog bites, and then two lemonades.

Once they got their food, they sat down at one of the tables because Skye was a messy eater and always wasted something when she ate in the car.

"Can you tell me the secret now mama?" Skye caught her frosting just before it fell from the table, sitting it on top of a napkin.

"How did you remember that?" Nalani chuckled, thinking she would've forgot because she'd told her two days ago.

"I love secrets." She carelessly shrugged, licking her pointer finger.

"Girl bye. Anyways, what do you think about a little sister or brother?" She asked, phrasing it in a way that she wouldn't for sure know that Nalani was pregnant.

"Um..but you and daddy ain't together anymore I thought?" She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, and Nalani chuckled.

"Well, what if the father was Kazi?" Nalani bit her pretzel, watching Skye's expression change.

"Oh. That's okay I guess. Are you pregnant right now?" She sat up in her seat, reaching for a pretzel dog bite.

"Yeah. Look." Nalani lifted her shirt up, and once Skye saw her stomach, her jaw dropped. She didn't think her mom was being serious.

"You're having another baby foreal?" Her voice dropped just a bit, and Nalani tried not to cry. She hoped that it wouldn't make Skye sad.

"Yes. You'll be a big sister in five months." Tears slowly began to brim in Nalani's eyes as a small pout formed on Skye's face.

She wiped under her eyes once Skye didn't respond, upset with herself for crying. She was already emotional as it was, but her pregnancy hormones made it even worse.

"Can we go to daddy's house now?" She mumbled, and Nalani nodded, standing to her feet as Skye did the same.

It never crossed Nalani's mind that having another child would upset her daughter. She had been the only one getting her parents complete attention since forever, and now that it would be another baby in the picture, it was about to throw her for a loop.

Skye was already still sort of upset that she no longer lived with both of her parents, and was still adapting to Kyzion being with her mom-though she liked him a lot, a part of her still preferred her dad.

The ride to her dad's house consisted of Nalani trying to get her to talk, but she just sat quietly in the backseat with a pout on her face.

When they got to Sinclair's house, her dad attempted to greet her but she just walked straight past him into the house. She was upset, which was expected since she was spoiled as hell.

"Why you crying mama? What happened?" Sinclair frowned, seeing Nalani step out of her car while wiping her face.

"She's so mad at me. I told her I was pregnant. I didn't think it would make her upset." Nalani exasperated, and she begin to cry a bit harder once his arms wrapped around her in a hug.

"Don't cry. It's just a lot going on for her, aight? We ain't together no more, she got two houses now, you with somebody else, and a new baby. It's a lot at one time Nyny." He rubbed her back, and she covered her face, sniffling.

"She only four Marie. She don't understand a lot of shit right now, so we have to give her a lil' bit of time. We can't do nothing about that but let her accept it when she can." He told her, and she nodded, wiping her tears.

"I wasn't even thinking about how she'd feel I just automatically assumed she would be okay with it. She hasn't said anything to me since I told her." She held a small pout on her face, her cries quieting.

"I'll talk to her and have her call you tonight, yeah?" He let her go, and she nodded again, drying herself face off.

Nalani ended up leaving a few minutes later, heading towards Kyzion's house while submerged in her own thoughts, per usual.

The fact that Skye was so upset that she didn't want to talk to Nalani had her so sad. She was a middle child, so she couldn't really see this situation from Skye's viewpoint as an only child; but she definitely validated her feelings.

She had every right to be upset with Nalani, even if Nalani couldn't understand the reasoning. She wasn't wrong for how she felt, but Nalani didn't think that it was fair that she was legitimately mad. Then again she had to remember her daughter was only four.

Her daughter was her best friend, and she usually ran every major decision in their life by her just to make sure she had a complete understanding of what was going on. It never crossed her mind that she would need her 'permission' to have another baby though.

Snapping herself from her thoughts, Nalani made it to Kyzion's house ten minutes earlier than planned, which meant she was currently doing good on time.

She watched as he exited his front door, his duffel bag on his shoulder as he made his way to the car, and she chuckled. Little did Skye know, that wasn't the only change happening soon.

Nalani planned to ask Kyzion to move in with her, and with a little convincing she was sure he'd say yes. With her new baby, she knew he'd want to spent a lot of time with him/her, but he wouldn't be able to do that if he lived with Amanda primarily.

She also mentally benefited from his company. He was like a breath of fresh air to her, and the reason she was always happy now because he didn't leave her by herself for more than a day or two-and even when he did, he spent the whole time on the phone with her.

She was going to bring it up to him today, but she wouldn't make it an official decision until she ran it by both Skye and Sinclair. The only reason she was including Sinclair is because Skye was his daughter too, so if Kyzion moved in, Nalani wanted his permission to have him around their daughter full time.

It wasn't a trust thing, but more so of a respect thing because Nalani trusted Kyzion 100% around her child-and Sinclair did enough to where he was around Skye as much as he was now.

"Hey. Can I see the baby?" He got in the front seat after putting his bag neatly in the back, not waiting on her to answer and instead just pulling her shirt up.

She smiled as he leaned down to kiss her belly a few times, rubbing over her visible baby bump that he watched grow everyday.

"Why do you look sad?" His eyes trailed to meet hers after softly kissing her lips, and she held his face to kiss him back.

"Skye's mad at me because I'm pregnant." She told him, putting her gear shift back in drive, pulling off from the house.

"Mad how?"

"I told her while we was at the mall, and she really didn't say nothing about it but asked to go to her dad's-and on the way over there she didn't say anything to me. She didn't even say nothing back when I told her I loved her." That ping of sadness remained in her chest as she spoke.

"I'm sure she didn't mean that. How does it make you feel?"

"Like a bad mom. I think she kind of blames me for breaking up with Sin too, and now that I've brought you around full time, this was just the icing on top. Bad icing." She muttered, and he chuckled at her metaphor.

"You're not a bad mom. Maybe you just have to sit and explain it to her, and not sugar coat anything. I mean, there's not a lot you could really do besides that. She probably just doesn't understand everything because it's happening so fast."

"I don't think she blames you though, and you shouldn't blame you either. She's just a baby so her emotions are bigger than ours. And I think you're a great mom, by the way. You do really well with her." He told her, rubbing her stomach as she drove.

"Thank you baby. I love you so much." She looked over at him, and he nodded, moving his dreads from his face.

"I love you too. I missed you." His hand left her stomach to grab hers, and she intertwined her fingers with his.

"When do you not?" She smirked, and he rolled his eyes at her cockiness, making her laugh.

"I missed you too though-which brings up my next topic. What do you think about moving in with me?" She asked, and his eyebrows furrowed as he looked over at her.

"When our baby comes, I want you with me everyday. You already spend more time at my house now than you do at yours. You only go home for your therapy appointments-and I can take you to those." She pointed out very convincing reasons, taking glances at him.

"I can take you to work too. I kind of want you to quit but I'm not gonna push it." She chuckled, leaning back in her seat.

"If I say yes, can I have half of your closet?" He asked, and she busted out laughing, making him smile.

"I guess I'd have to make that arrangement. But you'll have to move half of my stuff to that big closet on the hall. I would, but you know, pregnant." She pointed to her stomach, and he chuckled, rolling his eyes at her.

"Well, okay then. I have to talk to Ama first. And then I will quit, but only because my job is too far from your house-so I'll just find one near yours." He entered a priority tab on his Reminders app so that he wouldn't forget, and Nalani smiled.

"You really don't have to Kazi. I have more than enough money-and plus, I won't give you any bills. I barely even have any to pay." She told him, putting her car in park after maneuvering into a parking spot.

"I know, but I have a baby to take care of, so." He got out of the car, and she laughed, shaking her head at him.

He walked around to her side of the car, then helped her out. Once she was out, he wrapped his arms around her in a hug since he didn't get to give her one when he'd first got in the car.

"I love you so much." She held around his neck, smiling as he kissed the side of her face.

"I love you more. Can we go baby shopping tomorrow?" He asked, excited that they could finally start now that they were about to find out the gender.

"Whatever you want." She chuckled, wrapping her arm around his torso as they walked towards the building.

About three hours had now passed, and Kyzion and Nalani lay wrapped in each other's arms on the bed, taking a nap as usual.

Pregnancy had Nalani a lot more tired than normal, and every time she went to sleep, Kyzion just figured that he should as well, because why not?

That nap didn't last for much longer though because once Nalani's phone began ringing, it woke both of them up.

She reached over on the nightstand to grab it, her eyes squinting at her bright screen in her dark room, answering once she saw Skye's contact.

"Hi mommy. I'm sorry for making you sad." Skye spoke as soon as the call connected, and Nalani sat up in the bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"That's okay puddin'. I'm sorry for making you sad too. Do you want to talk about it now?" She asked, swinging her legs over to edge of the bed to stand up.

"Yeah. Daddy said that I can still be your favorite daughter even with the new baby so it's okay now." She told her, and Nalani chuckled, smiling in the camera.

"Yes. You'll still be my favorite-and my only-daughter because I'm not having a girl. I'm having a boy." She revealed, and Skye smiled as well.

"I can be a big sister now, and like, help change diapers and stuff? And I can help make bottles?" She was excited about the things her dad had told her she'd be able to help with, and it showed in her voice.

"Yeah baby. You're going to be the best big sister ever. I'm sorry that it's a lot going on right now, but babies are a good thing. Like when I got pregnant with you, me and daddy was so excited. I want you to be excited for the new baby too, only this time it's with Kazi and not daddy."

"Okay. Can I see again?" She asked, and Nalani sat her phone up against the bathroom counter, her stomach showing since she wasn't wearing a shirt.

"I'm four months. Pregnancy lasts for nine, so how much time do we have left until he's here?"

"Five." She held up five fingers after a few seconds of counting on her hand, and Nalani smiled big.

"Good job baby. My due date is at the end of February."

"Wait, February? But what if I miss it because I start school next week?" Skye frowned, watching Nalani brush her teeth.

"You can stay home the day I give birth puddin'." She chuckled, and Skye smiled in satisfaction, making Nalani laugh.
