CHAPTER TWO:
˗ˏˋ eye contact with a boy 'ˎ˗
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

SUMMER BREAK was officially over and it was now august 29th, 1985 aka, the first day of school. veronica had wished summer break didn't end so quickly since she hated school but unfortunately, there was nothing she could do about it.

  normally, the brunette wasn't ever really nervous to go back to school but this time, she was. she hadn't seen mike since that time in june, when she went to starcourt mall with max. this made veronica super nervous since she'd most likely have him in a few classes and it would be awkward as hell.

  veronica was of course wearing a more girly outfit but this time, no bow. she didn't want to go all out since it was just the first day of school. the brunette didn't eat much either, as she just ate one poptart and left without even saying goodbye to her parents.

after a long thirty minutes of bike riding, veronica finally arrived at school. she spotted the redhead hanging out with one of her other friends, el hopper. el was one of max's other close friend but veronica and el didn't get along very well to form a friendship. the brunette could give a shit about having many friends anyways since she had the best bitchy best friend she could ask for.

veronica quickly made her way up to max, " hey max!"

" oh hey veronica!"

things were pretty awkward since el was standing right next to max but veronica didn't feel the need to greet her, so she just rolled her eyes and stood next to the redhead on the opposite side.

" so, what class do you have first?" max asked her best friend.

the young brunette smiled, " math and you?"

" ah shit! i got science but at least i'll have el with me!" max giggled, along with el giggling along.

sometimes, veronica hated the way max was. the redhead would say things that weren't suppose to be harmful but they were. what max said did hurt veronica a bit but she just brushed it off.

  " look! it's mike and his friends." max pointed at the group of boys.

  it was obvious that el got a little down after max mentioned mike. el and mike had been a power couple for about two years, but mike had called it quits with el since they had way to many problems. it had almost been a year since the break up, but el still had some feelings for the boy.

  el rolled her brown eyes, " you mean the piece of shit and his friends?"

  " mm yeah, i like that name better." max and el laughed away while, veronica stared at mike just like she did at the mall.

  max tapped veronica's shoulder, " don't you agree veronica?"

  " oh uh sure." the brunette answered unsure.

  " well, el and i got to get to class now. i'll see you later veronica!" max waved at her friend, then leaving with el following along.

  " bye." veronica waved back at the redhead and headed to math class.

  once veronica made it to math class, she saw that mike and two of his friends were there sitting at their assigned desks. the brunette avoided all eye contact with mike and decided to just focus on looking for her seat. unfortunately, veronica's seat was right next to mike's.

" fuck." veronica whispered as she took a seat.

class was over after a hour and veronica couldn't have felt more relieved to leave class. that was until, mike stopped her.

" hey, your name's veronica, right?" the young boy asked.

veronica's heart was racing like crazy. this was the first time mike had ever spoken to her. " yeah, i'm veronica and your mike."

" yup and that's what i thought. i remember seeing you at the mall a while ago, you were at scoops ahoy, weren't you?" mike smiled.

" mhm yeah that was me." veronica felt pretty embarrassed that mike had still remembered that. it was pretty embarrassing that he caught her staring at him, even if it was a while ago.

mike's smile grew wilder. veronica hadn't been making full eye contact with mike as he talked to her until then and she couldn't help but smile right back at the boy.

" i think i should get going to my next class now. i'll see you around, veronica."

the brunette nodded and both teens then left to their next class.

after school was over, max had went over to veronica's house to hangout for a bit. both girls were sitting on veronica's bed, talking about school.

" when i entered science class, i saw the cutest boy! his name was lucas and i'm pretty sure you've seen him hangout with mike before." max explained to her best friend.

" look who surprisingly has a crush!" veronica teased the redhead.

max playfully rolled her eyes. the girl would usually talk about how much she thought boys were stupid so, her having a crush was a big shock for sure.

" how was math class for you? did you talk to any boys?" max smirked.

" it was fine and no i didn't." veronica lied.

max patted the brunette on the back, " maybe one day you will."

" you're such a bitch!" veronica laughed and tossed one of her pillows at max.

the redhead laughed and tossed the pillow back to the brunette.

" shit i have to eat dinner soon so i think you should go." veronica sighed.

" aw man, i guess i'll see you tomorrow." max waved and left the room.

veronica waved back and made her way to the living room, to wait for dinner to be made. while sitting on the couch, about to watch some tv, she noticed the one and only, mike wheeler. he was outside of dustin henderson's house, about to leave on his bike. it was very unusual that she'd see mike outside of dustin's house since he lived right in front of her's. mike must've been hanging out with the boy without even knowing veronica lived right in front of dustin's house.

as much as veronica wanted to get his attention, it was pointless since he was already off on his bike. suddenly veronica realized, this was the first time she actually wanted to be noticed by a boy.
