⠀"SO BASICALLY YOU'RE IN A LONG-DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP," Maddy stated, smirking as she glanced beside her at a very giddy-looking Cassie Howard. She and McKay had been together since the end of summer and, honestly, were a refreshing sight after all the other complicated couples surrounding them

"No, we like FaceTime every night," Cassie insisted, earning an amused and happy smirk from BB as she nudged the smitten blonde with her elbow

"Aw, that's so sweet. You guys are full-on in love,"

Fingertips meeting her forehead as her cheeks turned pink, Cassie shook her head, "Oh, my God. Stop!" Smirking at one another, Maddy and Brooke remained unconvinced as Cassie insisted, "We are not in love. But he did invite me to spend the weekend with him,"

"Like, the whole weekend?" questioned Maddy

"Yeah, like Friday and Saturday night,"

Surprised, Inez leaned towards Cassie, elbow on the table as her cheek rested on her palm "Wait, is your mom gonna let you go?"

"It doesn't matter," shrugged Cassie, "I'll just kill her in her sleep if she doesn't let me," BB and Inez glanced at one another in amusement, knowing Cassie would continue to deny as BB remarked,

"Sounds like true love to me,"

Laughing in agreement, Maddy gripped Brooke's arm tightly, staring with mocking and exaggerated love as she put on her best Cassie impression (which, to be honest, was just her making her voice sound higher), "Oh, Mckay, sweep me off my feet and drive into the sunset with me!"

"Oh, Cassie," Brooke leaned forwards, forehead meeting Maddy's as her voice dropped as low as it could, "I love you so much, you're the girl of my dreams! Kiss me!" eyes darting to her lips briefly, Maddy looked taken aback, only for a moment. And only long enough for Brooke to notice, before she covered hers and Brooke's faces with her hand, exaggeratedly moaning and making kissy noises whilst leaving it obvious enough that they weren't actually kissing.

Shaking her head, although unable to hide her amused smirk as all at the table but Kat, being glued to her phone, giggled at their impromptu performance, "I fucking hate you both,"

"Not as much as you're gonna hate your mom if she says you can't go," quipped Inez, although Cassie only scoffed as she replied

"Whatever. She can't stop me,"

The rest of the conversation sort of drowned out for Maddy and Brooke. Because, nudging at one another's legs under the table, their show of affection had been more closely intimate than the two girls had been for a very long time. And, joke or not, Maddy hadn't realized how much she missed Brooke's touch. The way Brooke knew how to be gentle with her, and rough at the same time. And she tried her best not to let her expression change when Brooke's hand brushed the outside of her thigh, or when she made eye contact with Nate sitting four tables away on the other side of the cafeteria.

"Do any of you guys know how Bitcoin works?"

The random question from Kat, who had been silent up until that point, confused everyone at the table so much that the girls fell silent, glancing around at each other with shaking heads

"Hmm. No," Smirking knowingly as she pointed at Kat in realization, Maddy pointed as she asked,

"But you know who probably does?"

⠀ BROOKE DECIDED TO DO THE NICE THING AND DRIVE Kat to Fezco's after school because, just like Maddy said, Ash could tell her everything she needed to know about Bitcoin. From there it was an easy walk home, so, she didn't feel bad when Kat said they could leave. She also didn't feel great about the fact that she had no fuckin clue exactly why Kat had a sudden interest in cryptocurrency.

And Maddy was going to see Nate, who was supposed to give her a ride home but had apparently forgotten between the walk from chemistry class to his truck. So, upstanding citizen and good friend that she was, Brooke, extremely begrudgingly, offered to drive Maddy to Nate's 'cause, like, she lived there too.

Brooke also couldn't get their almost-kiss out of her mind since it happened. So after, when they were alone, she confronted her about it...

"You wanted to kiss me," still a couple minutes from her house, Brooke glanced between Maddy and the road as her friend began to nervously chuckle

"What?"

"Earlier," Brooke smirked nonchalantly, brow raised as she didn't even bother questioning what she already knew was a fact, "At lunch. I know that look. I discovered that look,"

Rolling her eyes, Maddy opted to stare out the window rather than allow Brooke to read her for filth, "I don't know what you're talking about,"

"You know," Brooke pressed, ignoring the heavy sigh from an angered Maddy, "I've never seen you look at Nate like that,"

"Shut up,"

Brooke was mostly silent the rest of the ride, taunting Maddy with her control of the aux by playing songs they'd danced to or sang to or fucked to. And by the time they even made it to Brooke's they were both so frustrated they didn't say a word, rushing up the stairs and going their separate ways.

⠀ THE FIRST THING BROOKE DID, EVEN BEFORE SHOWERING, was find her headphones because, yeah the Maddy part she didn't mind but, the last possible fucking thing on earth she wanted to fucking hear was her brother having sex.

Which is why it was so confusing that just a couple hours later, Brooke was bumping into Maddy on the stairs.

Who was clearly in a hurry to get the fuck out of the house...

"Mads?" removing an earbud, Brooke stared quizzically at her friend hallway down the stairs, "You okay,"

Swallowing hard, Maddy tried her best to make it seem like she wasn't lying, "Yeah," she insisted unconvincingly, "Yeah, um, my mom called," holding up her phone, Maddy ran a shaky hand through her hair as she practically begged with her eyes for Brooke not to push further. And, getting her desperate message, while also assuming it had something to do with Nathaniel, Brooke only nodded

"You need a ride?"

Shaking her head, Maddy turned, almost at a run as she reached the bottom of the stairs, "I'm good, actually. But thanks,"

"O-okay," door slamming before she could even say goodbye, Brooke slowly turned to look at her brother's closed bedroom door, wondering what the fuck he could possibly have done this time to ruin things with Maddy yet again.

FINALLY real maddy and brooke content 😭 so much more coming before shit hits the fan

ik it's only ep 3 but we are ALMOST at the carnival ep aka the halfway point of act 1 which wtf that was fast

also accidentally planned this ep w the whole maddy finding the photos on nate's phone happening before the sleepover but that doesn't really affect the rest of the ep bc it just means she keeps it from kat a little longer but u will see why it's important she found out before they all stay at cassie's next chapter!

tho i am trying to take my time bc this is my euphoria content while we don't have any until probably like 2024 bc those actors have busy schedules (esp zendaya...)
