ROWAN REID - The Gryffindor Head Girl was in an immaculate mood and it was all because it was her favourite day of the entire year.
It was Halloween.
For centuries, the Reid family had celebrated Halloween night at Hogwarts. But every witch and wizard through the family tree had celebrates differently. Some followed the traditional Scottish traditions of the family, others participated in trick-or-treating if it were a weekend, others celebrated the harvest and celebrated Samhain - a traditional Wiccan holiday that had weaved itself into the Reid's Halloween day.
But Rowan had different plans.
She was spending the entire day with her boyfriend and his brother. Her best friends and the infamous prankster. The Weasley twins - Fred and George. They had met on the first day of the first year, all those years ago and managed to not totally annoy each other over that time. Fred and Rowan had been dating since their third year. It was actually George who 'forced' them together. He always said it was his biggest achievement. Neither Fred nor Rowan could disagree - they had never been happier compared to them now as a couple.
The three of them had big plans for Halloween. All included pranking and chaos. Fred and George were the brawn, while Rowan was the brains - hence why she was Head Girl, she never got caught because she was smart enough not to get physically involved. She did try and tell Fred and George this, but they enjoyed the thrill of getting caught.
"Today is a very special day!" Rowan Reid declared as she skipped through the dimly-lit hallways of Hogwarts, passing by her fellow students.
A scream slipped from her lips as she felt arms circle around her waist from behind and spinning her around in a circle. "It is a special day," the familiar voice spoke into her ear with a grin that she could feel against the shell of her ear.
"Very good observation, Ro," a nearly identical voice spoke a little further away from the first.
Rowan laughed. "Let me down, Freddie."
"Of course, Head Girl," Fred dropped Rowan back to her feet gently, spinning her around and pressing a kiss to her forehead.
They broke away after hearing a gagging sound from behind them. "Break it up, mates. Let's leave my breakfast in my stomach, shall we?"
Rowan smiled and ruffled George's hair. "Whatever you say, Georgie!" George huffed, pushing the Head Girl gently backward, landing on Fred's chest. "Anyway, are you ready?"
Fred and George grinned. "Everything's set up," Fred began. "We just got to wait until the Ferret and his goons go back to their common room for their free," George continued. "What time did Ickle Ronniekins say Malfoy comes out of Potions?"
Rowan looked down at her watch and a grin grew on her face. "In 5...4," she began to say. Fred and George panicked as they weren't in their hiding spot yet. Both of them grabbed Rowan's arms and ran around the corner just as she said '1'.
The doors to the Potions classroom swung open and the first ones out were the groups next victims. Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini, Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle and Pansy Parkinson. Easy targets - all self-confident and unexpecting. Far too easy, Rowan thought. The three peered around the corner of the brick wall to see the five Slytherins making their way to their common room.
"Ready, mates?" George asked Rowan and Fred.
"Ready, George," Rowan and Fred answered back in unison. The twins whipped out their wands and whispered a spell together. Just as the Slytherins opened the doors, a group of charmed skeletons jumped out from hiding, landing right in front of them. Draco let out a girlish scream and ran away, yet the skeletons chased after him, along with his friends that fled too.
They didn't get far as a colony of bats flew out, their wings just scratching the tops of their heads causing them to duck (or fall flat on their face in Crabbe's case).
They were close to escaping to the court yard, yet their torture wasn't over yet. Peeves had agreed to take part in the groups prank and scared the group just as they were rounding the corner. All of them screamed - shrill, long and deafening. They all fell on top of each other, landing on the concrete ground. The skeletons stopped chasing them and dropped to a large pile of bones, the balls flew away towards the sky and Peeves snickered and flew off too.
The three pranksters emerged from hiding, all laughing at the scene that they created. "Weasleys! Reid!" Draco exclaimed. "My father will hear about this! Be sure that you're title as Head Girl will be challenged!" He glared at Rowan.
Fred furrowed his brows at the smaller blond boy. "Oi! Leave her out of this, Malfoy. We're only having a bit of fun."
"Oh shut it, you filthy blood-traitors," Draco sneered. "I bet your badge will be taken off you by tomorrow tonight," He smirked.
"Awfully big talk from a boy who was screaming like a little girl only moments ago," Rowan chuckled. "Besides, it's a known facts that I'm a more valued student than you. I don't think I have anything to worry about. But you," she stepped forward, squaring off to the Slytherin boy. "Should really worry about your voice. From what I just heard, big, scary Malfoy screams like a scared little girl. Wouldn't want that little 'rumour' spreading like wildfire do we? It's not like I have that sort of power, right?" She mocked, knowing that she could say anything to her housemates and they'd believe it - epsecially if it were at the expense of Draco Malfoy.
Fred and George whistled from behind, knowing that Rowan had won the argument.
Draco's jaw clenched in anger. "Whatever, scumsucker," With that, he pushed past the three Gryffindors with the four Slytherins following after him, glaring at the gingers and the Head Girl.
With a smug smile, Rowan turned around to face Fred and George once again. "That was," George started.
"Hot," Fred said with a grin.
"Not what I was gonna say," George pointed to his brother. "It was bloody brilliant, is what!" He chuckled.
Rowan grinned. She moved between them, linking her hand with Fred's and her arm with George, as they made their way back to the Gryffindor common room. "Come on, we still have more pranks to pull before the Halloween dinner-"
The three were cut off by someone jumping out at them around the corner they were once stood at. They were wearing a realistic werewolf mask as they growled at them. Out of surprise, Fred, George and Rowan all screamed, clutching onto each other. It wasn't as high-pitched or as long as the Slytherins', but still loud.
The person behind the mask began laughing uncontrollably. They pulled the rubber mask off to reveal their identity.
"Ron!" The three pranksters shouted. Ron's best friends, Harry and Hermione, emerged from around the corner, both clutching their stomachs as they laughed until tears ran down their faces.
"You're all gits!" Fred and George declared, pointing at the three younger Gryffindors.
Rowan chuckled, leaning her head on Fred's shoulder. "Happy Halloween."
