REMUS LUPIN was a shy boy. Something so uncommon for a Gryffindor student - who were stereotypically brave, loud and reckless. But Remus was the opposite, he was timid, quiet and sensible. It was quite the wonder how he was best friends with the likes of James Potter and Sirius Black. Peter, as well, to an extent, but Peter was also quiet and timid at times but around their other friends was another story.
There was only one person that Remus was friends with that shared his quiet, timidness. Millie Foster, one of the nicest Gryffindors that Hogwarts had ever seen. Although she loved spending time with Remus, she spent most of her time either studying or with her own friends - Lily, Marlene, Mary and Dorcas.
It was a winter weekend and the four Marauders were sitting in a booth in The Three Broomsticks Inn, drinking butterbeer. Now that all of them were 18, they could legally drink the beverage, and Sirius and James were the most affected by the alcohol.
"Right, o-ok," Sirius hiccuped with a laugh, causing James to giggle loudly too. "Onto important business-"
"What important business?" Peter asked, school had finished for Christmas and there was thankfully no assignments, essays or homework so they didn't need to talk about copying work or begging either Millie or Remus to help them study.
Sirius grinned, leaning across the table clumsily and tapped his nose. "Ah, Peter, so silly! If you let me finish, the important business is truth or dare!"
Remus groaned in annoyance just after he took a sip from his drink. "Really?" Sirius was about to protest, but sighed nonetheless, not wanting him to whine. "Alright, alright, go for it."
Sirius slammed the table excitedly, causing the drinks on the wood to ripple from the bangs. "Ok, ok, Prongs, truth or dare?" Sirius asked.
James snickered, lowering his fifth glass back to the table. "Dare!" He declared bravely.
"Ok..." Sirius spoke looking around the bar until he saw a certain redhead Gryffindor. "You, Mr Potter, go over to Lily's table and kiss her in front of her friends." He pointed toward the table where Lily, Millie, Marlene, Mary and Dorcas were sitting. James downed the rest of drink and stumbled up from his seat, and confidently wandered over to Lily's table. The three best friends watched eagerly as James leaned down and pressed a kiss to Lily"s burning cheek. He stumbled back to their table as the four Gryffindor girls giggled and 'oohed' at Lily's blushed face.
"Easy," Jame grinned as plopped back down next to Sirius in the booth. He looked around the table before setting his eyes on Remus opposite him, with a evil smile. "Moony!" Remus groaned behind his glass. "Truth or dare?"
Remus thought for a second. "Truth."
James nodded, turning to conspire with Sirius and Peter. "Right, who was your first kiss?" Remus never expressed his relationship life with his anyone, unlike James who gushed about his most days.
Remus closed his eyes briefly, his fingers tapping his glass nervously. "I - um, I've never had a first kiss," he spoke quietly. Sirius, James and Peter gawped at their friend in surprise. Sure, Remus was shy and quiet, but he was not unattractive and a few girls expressed a like for him.
"Fuck off! Your lying!" Sirius exclaimed. Remus shook his head with an embarrassed smile. Sirius then looked to James and Peter who were still in shock. As Remus was looking around the bar, trying to find a way to escape the conversation, his eyes landed on Millie from across the room who was laughing at something that Marlene had said. Peter followed his gaze, then nudged James and pointed over at the Gryffindor girls' table to see Remus still staring at her.
"Moony, truth or dare?" Sirius asked Remus, causing him to turn towards his friends confusingly.
"But it's my go to ask-"
"Truth or dare, Moony," James interrupted his friend.
Remus sighed and decided to just go with it. "Tr— Ow!" Remus interrupted himself with a cry as Sirius kicked his shin. "Fucking hell, alright. Dare."
James smiled whilst wiggling his eyebrows, causing Remus to regret even coming out that night. "It's a two-parter, dear friend. First part, let Peter take you outside then wait for me and Sirius to come out, yeah?"
Remus sighed, dosing the rest of his drink and standing up with Peter. "Alright, come on, mate."
Once Peter and Remus were out of sight, Sirius and James rushed up and towards the girls' table. The five girls turned their heads just as James leant against the wooden table. "Back for more Lily, are we, Potter?" Marlene teased both of them.
"Unfortunately not, there's more pressing matters at hands, ladies," Sirius spoke, causing the five Gryffindor girls to look worried. "Don't worry, no ones dead or dying, just needed borrow dear Millie if that's alright with you?"
Without waiting for a response, Sirius helped Millie up from her seat and walking her to the door, shouting for a distracted James after him who remained talking to Lily briefly.
"Can I ask why you're kidnapping me?" Millie asked as they were approaching the door.
"You'll see," Sirius whispered in her ear with a chuckle.
Stepping out of the door, Millie saw Remus and Peter leaning against the cobbled wall on the inn. "Hey, Remus. Hi, Peter," Millie smiled as Sirius led her towards them.
Remus stood upright at her voice, sending a dirty look to a smug-looking Sirius after finally realising what the second part of the dare was. "H-hi, Millie, you alright?"
She nodded. "Yeah, I'm alright, considering I've been dragged from the warmth for the pub to out here, in the freezing cold," she shuddered.
Sirius tutted. "Ah, that's a shame, Mils, sorry about that! But you see, Moony needs you."
Millie sent her friend a smile. "What do you need, Remus?" She asked, sweetly, stepping closer to him. Remus gulped as he stared down at the girl. "Remus?"
Sirius, James and Peter nodded their friend to go for it. "Um, I - uh, I..." Remus stuttered.
The three best friends were growing tired of Remus' time-wasting. James quietly creeped up on the two of them and gently shoved Millie forward, right into Remus' chest. "Hey!" Millie cried from fright at the sudden feeling of falling but felt safe when she felt strong arms wrapped around her waist, keeping her on her feet. "Oh! T-thanks, Remus."
Now or never, Remus. He thought to himself. "Can I kiss you?" He asked quietly.
Millie's eyes widened, not expecting that to come out of his mouth next. But nonetheless, she nodded. Seemingly hesitant, Remus wasn't sure what to do, so Millie made the first move, stretching her neck to meet her lips with his.
She could faintly hear a gasp escape Remus before he relaxed and fully wrapped his arms around her body. Remus could hear cheering from behind Millie coming from Sirius, James and Peter, so without opening his eyes or separating from the kiss, he waved his hand behind Millie, shooing his three friends away. Of, course they ignored his silent order and continued to whistle at the couple.
Neither seemed to care as Millie deepened the kiss, running her hands gently through his tawny coloured hair. Feeling the urge to breathe, they pulled away. "Well, that was great," Remus smiled, breathless.
"Glad to be of service."
