14 | Dust
"Stay back. Those are real villains," Aizawa said as he put on his protective glasses.
Your eyes widened at the sight of the large purple-black portal. Tens of villains walked out, including their leader, who was a man with bluish skin and hands gripping his body and face. "Maybe if I kill a few kids, All Might will come out to play." The leader extended his arms, signalling his underlings to attack.
Everyone in class 1-A was taken back by this.
"Villains? How is it that so many of them could get in?" Kirishima said, voicing your thoughts.
You shook your head sideways, equally as startled as the rest of your classmates.
"Yes, Thirteen, why aren't the alarms going off?" Momo Yaorozu stepped to the front.
"Good question. I'm not sure."
"Is the entire campus under attack? Or is this their only target?" Todoroki narrowed his eyes. "Either way, if the alarm's not being triggered, one of these villains must have some quirk to mask their presence here. They carelessly chose this point of attack, as they knew a class was being taught. They are fools, but they must have a concrete plan."
Glancing back at Todoroki, you took in how he kept calm under pressure, his composed posture prevalent as ever. You couldn't help but admire him for his analytical skills while you acknowledged the rising tension amongst your classmates and teachers.
After some more discussion, Aizawa dashed down the stairs, while thirteen took care of you and the rest of the 1-A students. As all of you ran to the exit, the villain with the warp gate quirk stopped you. "We are the League of Villains. I know it's impolite, but we decided to invite ourselves into this haven of justice to say 'hello'. And besides, isn't this a fitting place for All Might, the Symbol of Peace to take his last breath?"

Half an hour after being split up from the rest of your classmates, you punched another henchman, making sure to extract enough of his life energy in the process. Not only did he spit out some blood, but he also collapsed on the ground soon after. With your muscles burning with energy, you ran up to Midoriya, who struggled to get back up at the foot of the small hill by the lake.
"No! Our teachers will be here at any moment, (l/n)! You've got to get away!" Tears threatened to escape his eyes as he saw how you stood before him to protect him, Asui and Mineta. Only a few minutes ago, Shigaraki had almost murdered the frog girl before Midoriya's own eyes.
One of the trio, a villain with the face of a Venus flytrap, warned his colleagues not to come at you at a close range, as that would only put them at a disadvantage. The same man then reached out to you with his venomous vines. Instead of rushing away from your place to take them down, you stayed put.
Todoroki wasn't far away from you when he saw this happen. Before he could reach them with his ice, you took his breath away by dodging the vine by an inch. You dashed and grabbed hold of the plant man's brown shirt, flinging him at the others. He landed like a sack of potatoes, knocking the other two henchmen down.
"Damn it. Isn't she the same brat from the picture?" The short villain huffed as he shoved his sturdy colleague off his legs.
"To hell with that," said the other man, as he sharpened his teeth. He stood up from the ground, dusting off his shorts.
You didn't quite catch their words, but their conversation took long enough for you to tap on their shoulders.
"Damn." The short man lifted some dust from the ground, clouding your vision. Though he was too late, as in the blink of an eye, you drained enough of their life energy. Both of them fainted.
You gasped for air with your hands on your knees, as Midoriya thanked you. Midoriya felt like a burden, frustrated at his inability to control his quirk. While he didn't want to be the one getting rescued, but a hero saving people, he was still grateful.
All Might's arrival lifted your spirits at first. Nothing could fill hearts with hope better than his catchphrase: he was there, ready to save the day. Nevertheless, he did struggle against that gigantic dark beast. Tomura Shigaraki let out a raspy cackle, as All Might gripped his bloodied abdomen on the ground.
"Asui? Will you carry Mr Aizawa for me?" Midoriya said.
"Ribbit, sure, but what are you gonna do?"
You whipped your head at Midoriya, who ran towards All Might.
"Are you crazy?" Asui shook her head sideways, utterly baffled.
"Asui, I'm sorry, but I'm gonna join Deku." You weren't drained by this point, so you didn't ask her nor Mineta for their energy, in case they had to defend themselves again.
You sprinted, following on Midoriya's steps.
You noticed how Todoroki froze the Nomu's body up to the point where it would reach All Might's body, who was trapped by an immobilised Kurogiri thanks to Bakugo. As All Might freed himself, Kirishima attempted to kick Shigaraki but failed.
"The Symbol of Peace will not be defeated by delinquents like you," Todoroki stated, filling your heart with determination.
"Kacchan... (l/n)... Everyone..." Midoriya wiped the tears off his face, hopeful that he saved just enough time for All Might to turn the tide.
---
All Might is the best. I don't think I will ever forget what heroes are up against after today. All Might was steaming, and Midoriya trembled on the floor, shattered. With so many of his bones broken, you doubted that he would be able to train for a while. Yet it relieved you that he was safe. Cementoss raised a wall because Kirishima ran up to him, making you lose sight of your new friend.
Eyeing you sighing by his side, Todoroki addressed you. "Nicely done, (y/n). I didn't think you'd take those villains down and come out unscathed."
"Thanks for the vote of confidence, Shoto, but I almost came out unscathed. My right eye feels sandy. I think I've got something in it." You blinked a few times, trying to remove the dust from your (e/c) eye.
Todoroki squinted, bringing his face closer to yours as he held your chin up with his hand. "(y/n), look at me."
"Uh..." You could feel his warm breath fanning over your quivering lips, but Todoroki didn't seem to mind or notice this at all.
He let out a frustrated sigh, unaware that your heartbeats sped up the longer he pried. "You know, I can't see if you close your eyes."
But if I open my eyes, your face will be there. My heart would explode and you wouldn't know any better. You shifted uncomfortably in your place.
"S-shoto, too close."
"Apologies. I didn't mean to do it again." He took a reserved step back, a shadow casting over his eyes.
"You shouldn't come so close... to me."
Though you soon regretted blurting that out, you told yourself it was for the best. With the effect Todoroki had on you, you knew that your unrequited feelings for him would only grow stronger if he kept acting this charming, albeit detatched way.
The half-and-half boy put his hands in the pockets of his hero uniform, stunned by your words when he was only looking out for you. "Did it feel unpleasant?"
"No, not really." Heat rose to your cheeks again, so you covered them with your hands. You wouldn't be surprised if your face lit up as red as half of Todoroki's hair, but you still hoped that he wouldn't second-guess your reaction.
Todoroki scoffed at himself. "Oh, right. I--"
Kirishima interrupted Todoroki as he ran up to you, Todoroki and Bakugo. "Hey, he said for all of us to head to the entrance!"
Bakugo narrowed his eyes at you, as you nodded at his friend, having begrudgingly taken in your exchange with Icy Hot.

You rested your head against the bus' window, as you planned what you'd do to prepare for your first weekend at home since you moved to the Todoroki household. You would pack a USB stick in your bag. You would also wrap that second-hand radio you bought the other day with your pyjamas. You didn't want your uncle to suspect anything, let alone that you were on to him.
Todoroki took the empty seat next to you. He closed his eyes as he laid his head against his seatbelt, ultimately dropping down to your shoulder.
You flinched, making his head jump a little. "Shoto, what are you doing?"
"Can you be quiet for a bit? I'm sleepy." He opened one eye to see your flustered face.
Your stomach did a backflip as this was the last thing you expected Todoroki to do, causing you to make up an excuse. "It's just that that's Kirishima's seat."
"Can you be my pillow for a while?" Todoroki said.
You shrugged your shoulders gently, trying to keep your cool. "I think I can be?" I won't be able to relax if he's so close to me, though.
Bakugo gritted his teeth, giving the both of you a blazing glare, as he walked past, soon followed by Kirishima. You mouthed to the red-haired boy that you were sorry. He flashed you a friendly smile to show that he was okay with it.
As Todoroki continued pretending to be asleep, he wondered why he couldn't help but enjoy seeing your priceless expressions, even though he had promised himself to keep away from you for your sake. Todoroki eventually dozed off, as you looked out of the window, deep in thought. You were way too busy planning for the upcoming weekend to question Todoroki's actions, justifying to yourself that the only reason why he would sit next to you was because resting his head on your shoulder was more comfortable than the window.
