❝ YOU TWO ARE STUBBORN AS FUCK. ❞

REINA TOOK OUT her books for her next class, which happened to be history with connor - the only class she had with him, unfortunately. she wondered where he was, considering the class started in about five minutes.

"then we sped off. i'm a criminal, rei! he even said i was the fucking chef! it's over - how can i get with bailey if i'm stuck in a jail cell my whole life?"

reina held her books and turned to benj, who ran a hand down his face as he leaned against the lockers beside her own.

she laughed, like she had done throughout the last ten minutes of benj explaining his mishap yesterday with ruby, the senior who he was carpooling with.

"well you never know, she could be into bad boys," reina suggested.

benj stood up straight, looking at her with a furrowed brows. "you think?"

reina shook her head with a smile. "no."

benj flopped back against the lockers, but after making a rather loud noise, he immediately stood up straight further away from it, trying to act natural by crossing his arms. reina giggled at his actions.

closing her locker, she let out a mild yell when she saw dylan stood there, an amused smile on his face.

"dylan!" reina exclaimed, putting a hand over her heart. "you fucking scared me."

he chuckled. "my bad, rei."

"rei?" benj questioned.

dylan turned to benj with a shrug. "that's her name, right?"

benj nodded slowly. "yeah, but uh, i didn't know you two were on a nickname bases."

"ah, well, we are," he replied, sending reina a bright smile.

"what are you doing here?" reina asked, fiddling with her hair. she internally thanked the heavens above for giving her a good hair day; she had two mini space buns up, with the rest of her hair flowing down, and two strands at the front.

"just thought i'd come see you. you look gorgeous, by the way."

reina was surprised by the sudden compliment, but nonetheless smiled thankfully at him. "thanks. you're not too bad yourself."

"so, do you mind if i walk you to class?"

benj awkwardly watched the two interact, looking around for connor, eddie - literally any one of his friends. he wouldn't mind if koosh randomly popped up.

as if his thoughts had been answered, the three turned their heads to see eddie and connor approaching them. just in time too, because reina was about to reply.

eddie went to stand next to benj. after being told what happened in their chemistry class the other day, he and benj wanted to see how things would play out, since connor was now seeing reina and dylan together in person.

"hey rei," connor greeted, before turning to dylan stood on the other side of reina. "oh, hey man."

dylan nodded his head once. "connor."

"what are you doing here?" he asked.

"he was just asking if he could walk me to class," reina quickly answered, turning her attention back to dylan.

connor wearily glanced between the two smiling at each other. "but i was going to walk you to class?"

"hey, listen if its a problem then you two can just-"

"no, no it's not a problem. you still can if you want," she suggested sweetly, completely oblivious to both boys not wanting the other to accompany her.

the bell rang; dylan put his arm out beside him, not sparing connor a second glance. "well then, lead the way."

reina happily linked her arm with his, the two starting to walk off. connor's hands curled into a fist, but he hid it by shoving his hands into his pockets.

he looked towards his other two friends, who were both sharing a packet of chips between them as they watched everything unfold. connor shook his head, snatching the chips out of eddie's hands before catching up with reina and dylan.

"oooh, someone's jealous~" eddie sang, making benj laugh.

CONNOR TRAILED BEHIND his best friend and dylan, his eyes burning into the back of their heads. he watched as they talked and laughed, and how their arms were still linked. he seriously thought they forgot he was even there.

"so you didn't make an effort to at least join the conversation?" eddie asked. him, alongside connor and benj, were all on call.

"trust me, i tried, but they were talking about an inside joke or something," connor replied, flopping down on his bed. "and i heard him mention my name, so i eavesdropped."

"what did he say?" benj asked.

walking down the last pair of stairs needed, dylan decided to change the subject. "so, what's up with you and connor?"

connor's head perked up from looking at the ground, slightly speeding up to hear reina's response better.

"oh, he's my best friend. has been since pre-k," she answered proudly.

"like hell yeah i am!" connor exclaimed.

"but you want to be something more?"

"shut up, benj."

dylan nodded. "right, so, you two are very close?"

"yeah, i mean, we are best friends after all," she chuckled awkwardly. "why?"

"just wondering. it's a cool friendship you guys have."

reina smiled warmly, whole heartedly agreeing. "he's the best, but don't tell him i said that," she whispered.

"she leaned in towards him and started whispering something. like what the fuck?"

dylan nodded and winked at her, making her heart skip a beat. just as dylan went on about a funny incident in gym, reina quickly looked behind her, making eye contact with connor.

"then she smiled at me. you know, that cute smile she does whenever she knows something i don't. she looked so happy and, i don't know guys, i sent her a fucking thumbs up! i wasn't going to ruin whatever shit they had going on by looking all grumpy."

after reaching their history class, reina unlinked her arms with dylan, standing so she faced him. "thanks for walking me here."

"anytime rei." he waved her off. "see you, gorgeous."

"see you gorgeous?" eddie repeated surprise.

"like who fucking says that? what is he, the bachelor?" connor rolled his eyes. "and rei was smiling so much after he left!"

"it was a compliment, of course she's going to smile like crazy after it!" benj argued.

"whatever, man."

reina and connor took their seats inside, near the back of the class. however, just as she opened her binder, a piece of paper fell out onto the floor.

curiously, connor picked it up before reina could. "what's this?"

he looked down at what was written on the paper, staring at the words in shock.

"dylan gave it to me yesterday."

he could hear the smile in her voice. he refrained himself from scoffing, laughing - anything negative. he silently sighed before looking back up at her with a forced grin, giving the paper back. "he likes you."

"you think?" reina asked hesitantly, putting the piece of paper on her desk.

connor hummed before pretending to busy himself with notes. reina gave him a questioning glance, peering down at the piece of paper only to find a slight rip at the top right in the middle.

"oh, and thanks for telling me about dylan's note, benj," connor said sarcastically.

"hey, it wasn't my place to say anything! but dude trust me, i wanted to throw up when i saw it."

throughout class, reina kept sneaking glances towards connor. sometimes she would catch him fiddling with their matching bracelets. she knew something was wrong, and nine times out of ten she always knew what it was. but unfortunately, she didn't know what it was this time.

"we didn't talk the whole time. it was so fucking awkward - that's never happened before! should i have said something?" connor frantically said.

"yeah, something along the lines of: oh, sorry i'm just upset because i'm jealous as fuck of you and dylan," eddie spoke.

"i'm not jealous."

his two friends went silent for a couple seconds. connor checked if his wifi wasn't working. "guys? hello?"

"what was that?"

"i said i'm not jealous."

"we heard you the first time," benj grinned.

"yeah, we were just seeing if you were dumb enough to repeat it," eddie laughed.

"yeah, whatever, fuck you guys."

benj sighed. "just admit it, man."

"there's nothing to admit!"

"there is! just accept the facts!"

"no!"

"man, you two are stubborn as fuck," benj groaned.

connor sat up. "huh? what do you mean?"

"who?" eddie asked.

benj mentally cursed at himself, slapping a hand over his mouth. "nothing i, uh, alyssa's calling me, see you guys at school!" after that, he left the call.

"okay.. what was that about?" eddie asked.

"i don't know. probably something to do with her nose."

"yeah, probably."
