❝ PISS IN HIS MOUTHWASH BOTTLE. ❞

REINA WAS SCARED SHITLESS. it was the first day of high school, the day she's both dreaded and anticipated for all summer. she was officially a freshman. she stood in front of her hallway mirror, making sure she looked decent before leaving to meet connor and eddie for the bus.

she wore simple jeans which were slightly baggy at the bottom, her jordan's she was gifted, a simple white baby tee, and her gold jewellery. her curls were glossy and defined, and she had it in a half up half down.

"you look amazing baby," her mother said, standing slightly behind her daughter with an adoring smile. "you'll be just fine, and you have your friends with you."

reina looked down to catch herself nervously fidgeting with her bracelet - coincidently, it was her matching one with connor. it was a string bracelet they made in seventh grade and traded; her's was a lighter shade of blue that had a 'C' letter charm on it. his was a darker shade of blue, with the letter 'R'.

she smiled at the fond memory of them both promising to never take them off. "yeah, i'll be fine."

"you're taking the bus with connor and eddie, right?"

reina nodded, knowing she declined the offer to carpool with a senior. unfortunately for benj, he happened to be paired with ruby - the worst possible senior you could be paired with.

"okay, be safe, and call me if you need anything! give my best to them both, benjamin, and to kooch."

reina laughed, not bothering to correct her mother. even after being friends for years, her mother always messed up their names one way or another.

REINA SAT IN BETWEEN connor and eddie on the school bus, slouching slighty with her arms crossed, matching connor's equally pissed off expression.

"freshman sit at the front - who the fuck made that rule?!" connor exclaimed, shaking his head.

"easy there curly. when the bus catches on fire, they're the unlucky ones," reina shrugged.

eddie looked at his friends in concern, and it only grew when connor agreed to whatever reina said. "when? look, please, let it go, i already got the runs."

reina put her hands up in defence as connor sighed.

"dude," he suddenly said, causing reina to follow his line of sight. "don't tell me that's a lunch box."

"what's wrong with my lunchbox?" eddie asked innocently.

reina put a hand on his shoulder. "oh you poor thing."

connor looked around before turning to him with wide eyes. "are you trying to get us killed? just get rid of it man!" he whispered.

eddie put his arms around his lunch box, refraining the two from grabbing it. "hold on! let's see what we got," he said, opening up his lunch box. "you know my mom went all out on day one."

as soon as eddie picked up his sandwich - or what was left of it, reina hid her laughter behind her hand, sharing an amused look with connor.

eddie grimaced. "what the..."

reina patted his shoulder with a grin. "definitely all out."

"he ate my sandwich!" he said through gritted teeth, putting the half eaten sandwich back inside the box.

"who?" connor asked.

"dennis!" he scoffed. "her stupid ass boyfriend."

"that asshole?" reina gaped.

connor furrowed his brows. "your mom's still with that scumbag?"

"yes! and he's ruining my life - the other night, he woke me up to ask if he could borrow a condom!" he seethed.

connor sighed. "man, you put up with that shit?"

"at least he was being safe, you know?"

eddie turned to look at her weirdly whilst connor nodded in agreement. "true, you don't want his shitty genes mixed with yours."

"yeah, next thing you know, there's baby number two, and they both grow up fucking other women with sons," she said casually - a little too casually.

"exactly, a tragic cycle," connor added.

eddie looked between them in both fear and disgust. he couldn't say he was surprised, though, since his two friends were always eerily on the same wavelength - no matter how messed up it may be.

"well what am i supposed to do?"

"i don't know," connor thought for a second. "slap him."

"set him on fire."

"what is with you and fire?!" eddie exclaimed.

"ass his toothbrush."

"piss in his mouthwash bottle!"

"just do something!"

eddie grimaced before shaking his head. "no. sometimes the best thing to do, is nothing. when you get attacked by an animal, you play dead."

connor shook his head. "i'm not wired that way. when someone disrespects me, i show him where the line is!"

suddenly, a basketball was thrown at connor, hitting him in the back of his head. quiet gasps and snickers could be heard, but above them all, reina's fit of laughter was the loudest. eddie could only stare in shock, slightly sinking lower in his seat.

she nudged her best friend playfully, still giggling. "go on con, show him who's boss!"

connor nudged her back, glaring at her. in return, he only got a sweet smile as she put her arm around his shoulders. she leaned towards him, "i think you're wired just a little differently, buddy."

"shut up rei."

she laughed. "you love me."

"unfortunately," he mumbled.

she hummed. "what was that?"

he rolled his eyes. "i said i don't."

"awww, don't be grumpy con. you can show him where the line is next time," she teased.

eddie, who quietly watched the whole thing unfold, eyed his two best friends with a knowing look.
