Lilith doesn't get into bad moods often, but, after her math teacher announced their surprise test in class and she was extremely unprepared after not being able to sleep, it's safe to say: she's in a bad mood. Her face is flat as she walks over to the lunch table in the cafeteria days later after her field trip. She passed by the Cullens' table, trying to ignore the looks she received from all of them as they looked at her like some sort of alien; she especially didn't miss the face Edward made at her and how he immediately turned to his adoptive siblings and began to talk—no doubt about her. How childish, she thought to herself. It's okay, Lilith, you don't need to be his friend. You've got better ones.

"You need the mitts. You need them." Eric insisted as his friends began to disagree, "No, why do you keep arguing with me? You just need them. You're gonna get frostbite!"

As she arrived at the table, she put her bag down next to Bella and Eric grinned at her, "Hey! La Push, baby. You in?"

"Should I know what that means?" Lilith hesitantly asked, extremely confused as to what La Push was. She had never heard of it and she hadn't even been out of Forks yet—even though she had planned to weeks ago.

"La Push Beach down at the Quileute Rez. We're all going tomorrow." Mike explained while taking a bite of his carrot.

"We're going to meet Bella's friend Jake who lives down there." Jessica added as she ate a scoop of her yoghurt and Bella nodded while Lilith looked over at the brunette, her mind making the connection that Jake was the mysterious crush that Bella had to which Bella nodded at her, confirming her suspicions, "And there's a big swell coming in."

Eric suddenly stood up imitating as if he was on a surfboard, "And I don't just surf the internet."

Mike did the same as Jessica rolled her eyes, "Eric, you stood up once, and it was a foam board. Sit down." The boy quickly sat back down at his seat, sporting a large pout from Jessica's comment.

"I've never learned how to surf... I think I'll probably fall more times than Mike will." Lilith cringed, ignoring Mike's protests about how he was actually good at surfing.

"Don't worry, Lil, I'll teach you." Tyler jokingly winked as he flexed his muscles, "I'll even save you if you drown."

"I'll take my chances with Eric saving me." Lilith made a face, shoving Tyler's arm back down by his side, "You've already hit me with your car, I don't want to give you the opportunity to almost let me drown too—because if I didn't know any better, it looks like you're purposely trying to kill me."

"That was an accident!" Tyler exclaimed, grabbing his head, "I would never try to drown you, what kind of sick person do you think I am?" He asked her, putting a hand over his heart.

"One that hit me with his car." She simply answered and ruffled his head like he had done to her so many times, causing him to scowl at her.

"If you don't want to surf, there's whale watching, too." Angela smiled at the interaction between Tyler and Lilith.

"Yeah, come with us." Bella begged, putting her palms together.

"Like actual whale watching or just 'watching the boys try to surf' whale watching?" Lilith questioned and the boys all feigned offence.

"Actual whale watching." Jessica laughed and Lilith's eyes lit up at the idea of seeing real whales.

"La Push, baby. It's La Push." Eric made a wave move with his hands.

"Please say you'll go so Eric can stop saying that." Bella joked and Lilith nodded.

"Yeah, seriously, dude." Mike shook his head, "It sounds creepy."

"What? That's what it's called." Eric defended.

"Yeah, I'll go! The whale watching sounds fun." Lilith smiled and Angela lightly clapped her hands. As Lilith looked through her bag, she frowned at how much she had packed to eat—since her mother had started working again, Lilith started to pack her own lunches, which she didn't mind because she could sneak a few extra candy bars than normal. But, today, there wasn't a whole lot and she had thought she packed a lot more than what she did considering she was in a bit of a daze that morning.

She didn't want to have to go to the salad bar and pick out stuff to eat but if she didn't, she'd be starving for the rest of the day. She quickly excused herself and walked over to the salad bar and began to pick out the things that she liked the most and what looked the freshest and began to sort out her bowl to look as nice as possible; and try to make it as if her mother made it for her. She smiled at her creation, it looked like she had made a face with the fruit in the bowl, "Edible art?" She heard Edward from behind her, causing her to flinch and accidentally knock over the apple next to her hand and off of the bench. Edward bounced the apple off of his shoe and caught it in his hands. Lilith's jaw went slack as she looked up at him, "Lilith." He greeted with a small smile.

"Thanks." She said as she grabbed the apple and put it in the bin and grabbed another, not wanting to eat something that had been kicked or on his shoes; no matter how clean they looked and most likely bruised from it hitting his foot, "You know, your mood swings are kind of giving me whiplash. I'm not sure how it's not doing the same for you." She pointed out. She couldn't quite understand why Edward would persist saying that they shouldn't be friends—even though Lilith didn't think they were friends in the first place—but, he couldn't seem to stay away from her, "Less than a week ago you told me you didn't think we should be friends, and here you are trying to act like you didn't even say that."

"I only said it'd be better if we weren't friends, not that I didn't want to be." Edward corrected her argument which made her narrow her eyes at him.

"Wow, clever." Lilith shook her head sarcastically, continuing to pick out some fruits, "What does that even mean to you?"

"It means if we were smart, we'd stay away from each other." He explained. The fact that they both clearly had secrets that made them different to the average human made it dangerous for them to be around each other in the fact that they could both easily expose one other to the humans. Neither of them could risk that happening for both theirs and their family's sake.

"Well, since we're clearly not smart. Would you tell me the truth as to what you are?" Lilith questioned.

"Probably not until you told me the same." Edward denied, "But, I'd like to hear your theories about me." He smiled.

"Well, I hope you don't get offended if I suggest that you tried to recreate the formula that was put into Steve Rogers, and it turned out wrong, and you're exactly like the Hulk instead." Lilith said aimlessly as she picked out some other things to put in her bowl as she recalled how he was able to shove away Tyler's van with ease. She then looked up at the boy seeing his bewildered expression from her response and she simply shrugged innocently. "I like comic books."

Edward chuckled at her. "So, then I'm guessing you've searched up radioactive spiders and Kryptonite?"

Lilith raised an eyebrow not pegging him to know all of that stuff, "Absolutely." She answered, "Glad to see I'm not the only superhero nerd here."

"What if I'm not the hero?" Edward suddenly questioned, "What if I'm the bad guy?"

Lilith looked into the bronze haired boy's eyes and shrugged, "I never asked you to be the good guy. Just because you have something different about yourself doesn't mean you're a monster or a villain." She responded, "I don't get why you try so hard to keep people away from you."

"I guess I could ask you the same question." Edward responded and Lilith's eyebrows furrowed, "Even though you have normal human friends, I can see you hold them at an arm's length just in case. I'm assuming it's because you don't want people to find out about your secret, but, you want to fit in also."

"I want to fit in because I want to have something in my life that's somewhat normal." The girl agreed, "You never told me what you think I am, by the way."

"Let's just say I thought about the radioactive spiders, Kryptonite and the super juice as well." Edward answered her and Lilith's smile went ear to ear which made Edward smile in turn as well. She liked that they could have something in common.

"See? Isn't it fun to just have a normal conversation without you trying to push me away?" The Bailey witch remarked, "I think it'll be good for us to hang out like the normal people, and you'll be able to see that it's not so bad to not alienate yourself from everyone besides your family."

Edward smiled at her, thinking her positivity and faith in him was adorable, "What did you have in mind?"

Lilith's eyes widened as she didn't expect him to agree so quickly and she bit her lip trying to rack her brain of things that they could do together. Her eyes spotted her group of friends who were staring at her; most likely because she was talking to the boy who only ever spoke to his siblings. She then got an idea, "We're all going to the beach tomorrow, you could come with us." She suggested.

Edward thought about it for a moment before he responded, "Which beach?"

"La Push." Lilith responded excitedly, "Apparently there's supposed to be a big swell and whales. Eric keeps raving about it."

"I don't know." Edward said and it made Lilith's smile drop slightly at his response.

"Is there something wrong with that beach?" She asked, slightly worried she had said the wrong thing. She didn't want to ruin any progress they had made with their 'friendship' by suggesting something that Edward really didn't want to do.

"It's a little crowded and I'm not really allowed there." Edward explained his reasoning for not being as excited as she was.

"Oh, okay." Lilith wobbled. She wasn't entirely convinced, and she was curious as to what he meant by 'he wasn't allowed there' but, she didn't want to push him for information in the middle of the cafeteria where there were so many people who could be listening. Especially when she assumed that it had something to do with his secret.

"We could do something else." Edward suggested and he watched as her eyes lit up again.

"Yeah, I'll come up with a list and you can tell me what you want to do." She grinned, before grabbing her fruit bowl and waving at him as she made her way back to her lunch table.

"What was that all about?" Angela asked as the blonde girl sat back down.

"We're hanging out." She answered, "I offered for him to come to La Push tomorrow—I hope you don't mind—but, he said no, anyway."

Angela let out a small 'aw' sound at her kindness, "What do you plan on doing then?"

The blonde girl shrugged, "I don't know. Where do you take a guy who isn't really your friend yet and where you don't want to give the wrong impression?"

Tyler smirked, "What, you don't want him to know that you have a big fat crush on him?" The boy had noticed the looks the two shared between each other when the other wasn't looking and he could see how frustrated the blonde girl was getting about Edward's mood swings—even when she wouldn't admit it out loud.

Lilith's mouth dropped, "I do not!" She exclaimed, placing her hands over her cheeks to try and cover the blush that she could feel itself showing and she hoped that Edward didn't hear anything, no matter how far away he was. She didn't think she had a crush on him. She liked wanting to be his friend, and speaking to him normally because she felt a connection between them, she didn't think that would be considered a crush.

Okay, maybe she did have a small crush on him—or maybe she had a crush on the idea that there was someone out there like her that she could connect herself with.

"He definitely has a crush on you then." Jessica pointed out with a smile as she could see the blonde's cheeks redden further, "He hasn't shown this much attention to anyone, since like, ever."

"I don't think he does. We've only spoken a few times." Lilith disagreed with her friend as she took a bite of her apple, trying to ignore the warm feeling as she thought about Edward liking her back, "Besides, this probably won't last long before he changes his mind again and decides that we shouldn't be friends."

"Boys are confusing like that." Bella observed.

The blonde girl then looked over to her with a look of mischief on her face, "So, we're meeting Jacob tomorrow? Is Jacob the mystery guy?" She asked quietly, trying to change the subject away from her, as she didn't want Mike to overhear incase he got upset.

"Yeah, but, don't tell anyone just yet." She whispered back and Lilith imitated zipping her lips to let Bella know that Jacob's relation to Bella's life was going be kept a secret.

"Well, will you at least tell me how it's going?" She pleaded, giving her friend the puppy dog eyes. Lilith was a nosy person when it came to her friends because she constantly wanted to know that they were safe and happy—and if they weren't, she would do something about it.

Bella tucked a bit of hair behind her ear, "It's going good. I think he likes me back and I'm trying to figure that out."

"Well, hopefully tomorrow you'll figure it out. He wants to meet your friends so I'm taking that as a good sign, right?" Lilith mentioned and Bella nodded at her, biting her lip anxiously, "Fingers crossed, anyway." She said crossing her fingers.

"Did I hear that Mrs. Welsh has a surprise test in math?" Jessica suddenly changed the subject and Lilith groaned remembering that horrid test that had put her into a foul mood at the beginning of lunch break.

"It was horrible, Jess. I'm so bad at math." She whined. There were some things in math that she was good at, but she was absolutely horrible at calculus.

"I'll give you my notes." Angela offered kindly, "Mrs. Welsh always does the same answer rhythms for all of her tests, but, I'll still help you go over the worksheets."

"You're a lifesaver." The blonde girl gasped dramatically, "Hopefully she'll let me retake it if I bombed the thing."

"I think you'll be fine, you're a mini genius. I don't think you would've failed it." Tyler ruffled her hair, making Lilith frown as she slapped his hands away and tried to fix it once again, "It's me who has to worry about failing and having my parents ground me for the rest of my life."

"Stop doing that." Lilith whined, her mouth full of food as she smacked his hands away again, "And you probably failed because you spend all lesson staring at Emma rather than your class notes."

"Don't start." Tyler pointed at her and the blonde only stuck her tongue out at him. He couldn't deny it, Lilith had caught him staring and had to snap him out of it way too many times to say that it wasn't true, "But, thanks for letting me try and copy your answers."

"If you fail, that's on you." She made a face.

The boy shrugged at her, "You probably gave me a better grade than what I could've gotten on my own."

Before Lilith could say anything else, the bell rang signalling the end of lunch break and the group of friends packed up their things and threw out their lunch before going to their next period.
