Lilith Cullen stood in front of her husband the next day with a look of concentration on her face as she drank in Kate's words. The vampires had decided it was best that Lilith learnt how to control their powers as it was their best bet if and when the possibility of a fight with the Volturi occurred. They believed it to be best chance they had was using the element of surprise with Lilith's gift, and having her learn all of them so she could be able stop them until Eleazar informed them of how Aro has the access to a gift within the Guard that can manipulate relationships between people.

Then it became worrying that they would use Chelsea to do so on the vampires that Aro wanted within the Guard. They figured that Aro would want them all incapacitated before they attacked and would have Jane and Alec try to take out Edward first considering that he could anticipate their moves—and if they had to, they would take out Alice too.

Kate volunteered herself to teach Lilith how to develop her gift more consciously considering she had the most experience within that department; with her gift beginning in just her palms but soon learnt how to radiate it all over her body.

"You need to visualise it. See how it moves. What colour it is." Kate instructed, "Now, picture it expanding. Will it go beyond you." Having practiced magic for the majority of her life, Lilith figured it would be fairly simple to retain that and transfer it into learning how to use her gift as a vampire nowadays. It was all about imagery; picturing what she wanted to happen and having her body take over, "Think about what the electricity would feel like along the palms of your hands. Does it tingle or just it truly electrify the person who touches you?" She continued and Lilith closed her eyes to focus.

Doing as Kate said so, she pictured the images of electricity flowing through her body, trying to focus it going towards her hands first before she let it seep itself outside of her body, smiling when she heard the crackle of electricity at her palms.

She had practice with Edward's, Alice's, and Jasper's gifts, but she needed a little bit more experience when it came to practicing with everyone else's. Lilith assumed that some would be a little bit more tricker than others, like Zafrina's and possibly even some of the Guard's if she excelled in being able to mimic properly.

Lilith opened her eyes to see everyone looking fairly impressed with her improvement so far before she finally disabled the electricity flow and dropped her arms down to her side. "I think we might actually have a shot with this." Kate grinned. From what she had seen, Lilith was already quite quick at picking up new skills and gifts from being a witch, but she was also impressed to hear about her adaption to becoming a vampire and how quickly she had control over her bloodlust.

Kate could remember how many years it took for her to have complete control and Lilith seemed to come to it with ease—the woman nearly bowing at her feet when she heard how she was in contact with a human within the first few hours of her change and didn't rip her apart; and with that information, Kate knew that Lilith was going to be able to handle anything thrown at her, including several different powers in one day. It was just going to be hard to teach her ones that Kate had no knowledge of.

"Well, I have a good teacher." Lilith responded to calm Kate's intrusive thoughts before setting her eyes on the others, "Who's do we want to try next?"

"There's sweet music here that softer falls than petals from blown roses on the grass." Lilith read softly to a half-asleep Diana who was curled into her side, cuddling onto a teddy bear given by Alice with Dakota tucked in to her other side. "Or night dews on still waters between walls of shadowy granite in a gleaming pass. Music that brings sweet sleep down from the blissful skies."

Lilith looked down at her daughter, smiling when she saw her sound asleep in her arms finally. Whatever it was about that book, it worked wonders to make Diana fall asleep almost instantly that she didn't even need to use Jasper's gift to calm her. With one last look, she closed the book in her hands gently before putting it away and carefully moved to turn off the lamp that was giving the room a hint of light, and get out of the bed without disturbing her daughter from her sleep.

"Mommy?" She heard Diana softly call out, the newborn's humming in response. "Is someone coming to hurt me?" She asked and Lilith's eyes softened.

She wasn't aware that Diana knew of the danger that they were in—she hoped that they had remained oblivious to the whole thing. Diana was only a child and didn't need to worry about protecting herself from the Volturi because it was Lilith and Edward's job to do so. But, if there was anything that she had learnt from growing up, is that Diana deserved to know the truth whenever she asked for it. All Lilith wanted to do was promise to her daughter that there were never going to be any bad days in her life, but she couldn't promise that. Lilith wanted to promise that Diana would only experience good days and interesting days, but she knew there would be times were there were only bad. Their current situation being one of them.

"I'll never let anybody hurt you." Was what Lilith settled with in response, because she could most definitely promise her daughter that—she would die by those words because she absolutely would never let any harm come to her daughter. "And neither will anyone else that's here, okay?" She told Diana, who gently nodded her head. Lilith watched as Diana's eyes drooped more and more, giving her a smile and brushing the blonde hairs out of her face as she let it lull her daughter to sleep, even more so when she snuggled herself into Lilith's side, "Go to sleep, baby." She whispered, continuing to watch as Diana put herself to sleep.

Within minutes, Diana was completely asleep once again and Lilith took a few extra moments just to be sure until she crept out of the bed, making sure to bring the blanket completely over the child and her teddy bear before walking out of her room and shutting the door behind her.

"She's asleep." Lilith quietly announced as she walked back into the main area of the Cullen home, facing Lorelei, Rosalie, Alice, Jasper, Jake and Edward who had been sat there waiting for her to put her daughter to bed before they could talk.

It had been a tiring day for all of them; with Lilith learning how to control her powers along with everyone else trying to teach her. She felt so mentally drained after a full day despite feeling strong enough to completely demolish a tank with ease—and she was sure that everyone else felt the same way.

"She's had a long day like the rest of us, I'm not surprised she's tired this early." Rosalie commented as she looked at the clock, seeing it only a couple minutes past eight o'clock. It most definitely would've been tiring for her, with having to be overstimulated because of constant guests over all the time and playing with those said guests. With their earlier conversation, Lilith was sure that it would've been overwhelming for her as well knowing why they were there.

The thought of being in constant danger and having all of those vampires around her to keep her and her family safe would've put her into a small frenzy. And Lilith wanted to let her daughter know and reassure her that no matter what happens when the Volturi came, that she would be safe first and foremost.

"Are you okay?" Edward asked once he saw the drained and concerned look on his wife's face, standing to go by her side and pull her close for comfort.

"Yeah." She sighed. "I'm just worried that if it all goes wrong and we do end up in a fight, I don't want Diana anywhere near it. I don't want to give the Volturi any opportunity to get to her."

If she had it her way, Diana wouldn't be anywhere near them. But she had to. She had to stand there and be under their gaze and their touch to prove that she wasn't an immortal child like they believed her to be.

It made Lilith's dead stomach churn at the thought of her daughter being so close to the vile and ruthless nature of the Volturi. "They won't touch her." Lorelei assured her from her place on the sofa. "We're all here to make sure that doesn't happen."

"I know, and I don't doubt you at all." She said as she leant against Edward. "I just want to make sure all of our bases are covered. I don't want to risk anything when it comes to her." While she wanted her daughter's happiness to come first always, in situations like these were the times that her safety took priority—and the only way for her to be safe was unfortunately with her being there with them while they stood with the Volturi. The only other worry Lilith had was getting her daughter out of their sight as soon as possible without them having a way to track her.

An idea suddenly came to Jasper's mind, "So we plan an escape route for her." He spoke up, making Lilith look over at her brother in law with confusion. "If things so south then we need to get her out of their sights as soon as possible."

"Lorelei should go with her." Rosalie suggested and Lilith's head snapped to hers almost immediately. "She could get her out of the field and they wouldn't be able to stop her. She would be able to protect her more than any of us could do—and if none of us make it out, she'll be able to help her with her vampirism and her witch powers." As much as Rosalie wanted to do everything she could to protect Diana herself, she knew the best person for the job was going to be Lorelei. She was stronger than her and would be able to escape quicker. While Lorelei would be a valuable asset to the Cullens on the battlefield, Diana was going to need her more in order for her to survive against the Volturi and their followers, especially if Ryker got involved.

Edward looked at Alice, "Would it work? Would she survive?" He asked her considering Lilith's head was too worried to try and see into the future knowing that Alice had already seen the two ways that their confrontation would end.

"Yeah, it would." Alice answered her adoptive brother shakily and Lilith would've almost let out a breath of relief if she could have.

"I'll do it then." The witch agreed as she looked at Lilith. "But, only if you completely understand the depth of this situation because you might not see her ever again." She said seriously and Lilith pursed her lips.

She didn't truly think about it that far and think about that possibility actually happening. She knew she wanted to give her daughter the best life she could have, and if that unfortunately didn't include her and Edward, then that is what would have to happen. The thought of not being there while her daughter grew up and went through her life crushed Lilith however, and she knew that same thought was also crushing Edward all the same. And while they were prepared to fight for her, the realisation of them actually having to let go of her forever just only sank in.

"I might not like it, but, I understand." She whispered. She did, she truly did, but she was still going to do everything in her power to make her way back to Diana with Edward.

"Good." Lorelei said curtly.

Lilith looked over at Jake, seeing him look back at her sadly. Jake had been a rock of the Cullens' for the last few months and Lilith had been entirely grateful for his presence even though he was most likely annoyed with how much time he had to spend with them instead of with the packs and Bella. With the thought of Bella, Lilith looked at Lorelei with worry, "You might need to take Bella with you." She realised.

Irina had seen Bella with Lilith and Diana the day they had crossed paths, and while the human girl had been wearing Jake's sweatshirt that would've possibly masked her own scent, there was still a a large possibility that Irina still heard the sound of her heartbeat or even her breathing.

Or just anything that could've indicated that she was human and made Irina alert her to the Volturi. Humans weren't supposed to know the existence of vampires; and she seriously doubted they would amend that rule for a human that was imprinted on by a wolf.

Even more so, Lilith doubted they would even be able to prove that she wasn't just any hunan that they had told their secret to, but one that was involved long before they both found out about the vampires that resided in Forks.

Jake gulped, worrying about his imprint even more when he noticed Lilith's fear for her safety. If Jake was on the field with them, he wouldn't be able to protect her and neither will anyone in the pack since they'll all be with him. If Bella was a target; the other imprints could be to just to spite them.

Lorelei looked over at Jake for what he wanted to happen and he angrily nodded, "You have to." He agreed. "It's the only way to keep them safe."

Jasper stood up and reached for his phone, "I know someone who can help, let me make a few calls." He announced to his family before he and Alice walked out of the room.

Rosalie, Lorelei and Jake all looked at each other before they stood up and followed after Jasper and Alice, leaving Edward and Lilith alone in the room.

Edward immediately pulled his wife closer to him and gently held onto her face with his hands to make her look at him, "Hey," He called, her golden eyes meeting his. "She's gonna be okay. We all are."

"Not if things don't go the right way." She responded, having seen Alice's vision if Aro decided to attack them and seen all of the deaths involved from both sides—the only good thing was that Diana survived both paths, but seeing all of her family and friends die to make sure they didn't made her want it to go right.

Meaning everything they did and said had to be correct before it completely changed the outcome and the worst happened.

Edward pulled her closer, Lilith hugging onto her husband, "Everything's gonna be okay." He repeated to her again because it was all he could say. He thought and felt the exact same way but he wanted to stay strong to make her worry less. "We're gonna be okay."
