Later that night, the Cullen and their allies sat in the living room of the Cullen home while they listened to Eleazar speak. He had information about the inner workings of the Volturi from his time spent with them, and he had knowledge on how or why Aro does what he does.

"When Aro wants someone from a coven it's never long before evidence turns up proving that coven committed some crime." He begins.

"So, he's done this before?" Lilith questioned him, wondering how no one had noticed a pattern. If people realised what he was doing, they would never let anyone know of their gift in fear that their coven would be destroyed and they would be forced to join them with no where else to turn.

"It happens so rarely, I never realised it was a pattern—and I'm sure many others haven't either." Eleazar answered her.

"Apparently he always pardons one person whose thoughts, he claims, are repentant." Carlisle added.

"This person always has an ability. And they're always given a place with the Guard." Eleazar continued, crossing his arms and Lilith looked down at her hands.

"I have a feeling I know who he's after." Alice said looking at the group, "He has no one with my gift, it could be seen as a treasure to him."

"He definitely was intrigued by you when we were in Italy." Edward agreed and Lilith noticed Jasper's grip around Alice's waist tighten at the thought of him losing her to the Volturi. "No doubt that he will be interested in yours also if he finds out." He says looking at his wife. If Aro were to find out about Lilith's gift and he managed to gain her into the Gaurd, he wouldn't have to force others to join him and slaughter covens; he would just need Lilith to interact with them until she gained their power making them unstoppable.

"But, why does he need witnesses?" Emmett questioned Eleazar and Carlisle; the two of them had more knowledge about the workings of Aro, Marcus and Caius than anyone else in the room.

"To spread the word that justice has been served." Alistair answered for them, Lilith raising an eyebrow as she was surprised that he would even contribute to the conversation at all—even if what he did add was quite cynical. "After he slaughters an entire coven." Carmen grabbed into Tanya's hand in comfort, feeling as if this conversation would weigh a toll on the blonde haired vampire's mind and bringing back memories of when her first coven was slaughtered by him.

Amun immediately stood up from his seat, "Benjamin, Tia, we're leaving." He announced, his mate following after him.

"And where will you go?" Edward didn't hesitate to question.

"Edward!" Lilith lightly scolded him, not wanting to accidentally push the man too far and have him end up joining the other side just to spite them. With tensions extremely high, Lilith's mind constantly went into overdrive and she was always overthinking situations and making herself paranoid over the smallest things. She was terrified that one wrong move—even if it was extremely minuscule—would create a large amount of chaos and strife for her like the butterfly effect.

According to Carlisle, Amun had always been a revengeful and bitter person, although he had apparently calmed down over the years, but Lilith didn't want to test his generosity and have him going straight to the Volturi just because Edward pissed him off. Everyone that knew Amun well enough was aware that his change of attitude had something to do with Benjamin's loyalty to him and it was obvious that the two cared for each other deeply; which was another reason why Amun refused to put them in a position to be destroyed just for Benjamin's incredible ability.

"What makes you think they'll be satisfied with Alice or Lilith?" Edward lectured. "What's to stop them from going after Benjamin next? Or Zafrina or Kate or anyone else with a gift? Anyone they want. Their goal isn't punishment, it's power. It's acquisition."

Lilith understood his thought process, she understood his desperation; but she didn't want to be the person to force them to fight for something they didn't want to. She knew first hand what it was like being a pawn in someone else's game. "Edward, we can't force them to do this." She reminded him softly.

Edward looked at her and resisted the urge to agree, but with the stakes so high; the stakes being his literally daughter, he refused to give up. He couldn't give up. "Carlisle and Lilith might not ask you to fight, but, I will." He claimed. "For the sake of my family, but, also for yours. And for the way you want to live."

There was a moment of silence as the covens each looked among themselves, pondering the decision to stay and fight, or run and hide and hope that the Volturi never sets their eyes on one of their gifted members. Jake was the first to stand, "The packs will fight." He ruled, the covens turning to him almost amazed that he was the first to volunteer while both Lilith and Edward looked at him appreciatively. "We've never been afraid of vampires."

The Denalis were next, "We will fight." Tanya stated. She had been waiting a long moment for retribution to be served against the Volturi for how they destroyed her family and coven without any mercy. She may have respected their laws since that night, but she never let it go; constantly awaiting the day she could rip into them the same way they did once before.

Garrett was the next to stand, "This wouldn't be the first time I fought a king's rule." He joined in. He had done it once before; and he wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

"We'll join you." Benjamin volunteered causing Amun to turn to face him with shock on his face.

"No." Amun protested.

"I will do the right thing, Amun." Benjamin assured him, making sure his coven leader knew that he would return to him and he was not trying to leave, and he deserved to do something that was seen as righteous. "You may do as you please."

Lilith couldn't help but grab onto Edward's hand nervously, wondering who would stay and who would leave; her mind not picking up their thought processes well enough due to the anxiousness of the situation.

"We will stand with you." Senna and Zafrina volunteered—both of them not wanting to see any harm come to the family that stood before them.

The Irish coven stood next, completely agreeing with Edward's words and deciding it was time they took a stand to do something about it. "So will we."

It wasn't long before the nomads simply stood and nodded their heads, signalling their alliance with the Cullens. "That didn't take much." Vladimir commented into Stefan's ear.

"Let's just hope it doesn't come to that." Lilith uttered to the group, giving them an appreciative smile, her dead heart practically exploding with how honoured and appreciative she felt that these strangers were willing to help fight for her family even though they only knew their story.

"We'll see." Alistair mumbled into Carlisle's ear, Lilith's smile dropping as she watched him walk away. She could understand that he wasn't up for a battle with the Volturi—neither did they and they were trying avoid that at all costs—but, no one was exactly forcing him to stay where he didn't want to be either.

Everyone was showing courage, even though everyone knew Aro's army was most likely moving against them also, Alistair had every right to leave and no one would blame him considering they would probably have to face the dark gifts of Jane and Alec, something no vampire would be able to stomach unless standing for something they truly believed in.

And Lilith would stand as strong as she could because she truly believed her daughter deserved to stay alive—even if she couldn't.

"Are you okay?" Edward asked his wife later that night once they returned to their home, the family deciding they needed time alone as a family after the heavy discussion they had earlier. Lilith just wanted to be with Diana and Edward just wanted to be with Lilith.

The married couple had put their daughter to bed—the toddler having been exhausted after playing with Lorelei and Rosalie for majority of the night—and needed to be put to sleep the moment they walked in. Lilith felt secure knowing that their daughter was safe and tucked into her newly sized up bed and that no harm would come to her there.

"I'm okay." She told her husband as they sat in front of the fireplace. "I'm a little scared of what might happen, but... I'm okay."

Edward opened his arms and the newborn vampire immediately leant into them, letting him hold her gently but securely, making her instantly feel slightly better, "I won't let anything happen to either of you." He told her and she smiled into his chest.

"I know." She responded. "I feel the same." She would die for him, and he would too, but they both would lay down their lives in order to save Diana before anyone else. While it might look extreme as a human; her love and devotion for her husband and child had been magnified so much that sometimes it pained her to think about how life would be like without them. There was a comfortable silence when Lilith decided to question him back, "Are you okay?" She could tell that Edward had a lot on his mind—as did most of the covens inside the Cullen home, each of them wondering about the outcome and if they would survive the Volturi and their wrath.

"You don't want to look into my mind and see for yourself?" Edward retorted jokingly and Lilith rolled her eyes. Edward was proud that his wife was powerful; but, he wasn't surprised either since she was already powerful as a witch, it was only natural for it to carry over into her life as a vampire.

Lilith snuggled further into his chest, "No, I like to hear your voice out loud." She told him with a smile. Ever since she turned, everything she loved about Edward magnified also. The way she saw him intensified his beauty, his voice sounded more smoother and still felt as if it could buckle her knees, his touch felt like electric sparks across her skin.

Things that made her fall harder for him than ever before—more than what she thought was even possible.

"I just can't let anything happen to you." Edward finally whispered out, letting his hand run down her hair. "You and Diana are the people I care most about and there's a possibility that I might lose you both without being able to stop it... and I'm terrified of that."

"You won't." She had complete faith in him and his ability to protect their family; but she also had the same amount of faith in herself now as well and believed she would be able to do the same with her newly gained strength and gift. "I believe in us."

The two fell into a comfortable silence with Lilith listening to her daughter's irregular yet heartbeat letting her know that she was soundly asleep before catching her husband think about how much he loved her because he knew she would be listening, the newborn rolling her eyes at him before smiling.

Edward and Lilith liked to cuddle, since neither could sleep they enjoyed each other's company and enjoyed holding each other—it helped the humanity of their relationship remain and it kept them content. After a long day, they just held each other until they felt better and it became their thing.

There was never a time where they weren't around each other; any maybe it was because they couldn't get enough of each other since Lilith was enjoying the joys of being a newborn, but the emotional factor played a big part because she didn't want to be away from the person who brought her love and happiness.

"Do you regret becoming a vampire?" Edward suddenly asked her, making her raise an eyebrow at the completely abrupt question.

"No, not at all." She responded, bewildered at how she missed him getting to that point in his train of through the. "Do you dislike the fact that I am one?"

"No, I'm thankful that you are because I get to spend the rest of our lives together." He liked to look at his wife a lot, and whenever he looked he always spotted the different things that had changed about her physically over the years, but he would have to admit that he missed the little things that she used to be able to do as a human.

He missed the way she used to blush when she was embarrassed. He missed hearing her heartbeat rise whenever he complimented her or he did something she liked. He missed hearing the sound of her breath catching into her throat whenever he kissed her and he missed seeing her little concentrated face whenever she was focusing on her magic.

Edward did like the vampire version of Lilith; he could see how much more comfortable with herself she had become. She began to believe in herself when it came to strength and her ability to protect the people she cared about—Lilith was so powerful to him in every way.

He loved seeing her become a mother to his child, she had taken to the role so quickly and naturally and seeing her that way seemed to be so perfect; and he wouldn't of been able to see that unless she had become a vampire.

His wife looked up at him, "Then why do you fret over these things?" She wondered. He always got into his own head a lot and she could tell that he was worried about her hating who she had become, but in turn; she loved herself more than ever. She felt strong and happy—she had never felt more alive.

"I don't know, I was just thinking." He answered her. "If it weren't for you becoming a vampire, we wouldn't be in this situation."

"But, then I wouldn't have you, and we wouldn't have Diana." She reminded him. "You have given me everything and more, Edward. I wouldn't change that for the world. I like how we are now—even if we are currently in danger—I'm happy here; with you and our family, as a vampire, okay?"

Edward smiled, "I love you, more than anything." He told her. "And I promise you that I won't let anything ever happen to you or Diana."

"I love you too, and I promise the same." She responded back truthfully, Lilith pushing up to kiss him deeply.
