Lilith couldn't get the incident out of her mind. She was angry at herself that she didn't react sooner and move out of the way, she was surprised that she could create shields as a gift for her vampirism and she was confused how she managed to calm Diana down so quickly. It just didn't make sense how quickly she did considering that she was crying so much and so hard. Everything just felt so muddled.
"I don't understand how that happened."Lilith mumbled that night as she and Edward were standing in the living room of the Cullen home.
Edward tightened his grip on her hip in response, "Don't worry too much about it. What happened, happened and everyone is okay." Lilith sent him a deadpanned look. They've had the same conversation several times now, and Edward always made it a point for her to just forget it because he felt like she was just overanalysing the situation and specifically focusing on what she did 'wrong' instead of the fact that they were fine.
The sound of chatter and laughter made the newborn's expression disappear as she made herself seem more calm than anything as the rest of the Cullens returned from hunting—the wolves had backed off days ago and the treaty had been reestablished so the coven could all go out and feed. Finally.
The Cullens had stayed a few days extra to be cautious and to help with Lilith's change in case she needed them with that or the baby. But, that night, Lilith had forced them to go out and feed since they had practically been starving since the beginning of her pregnancy; only surviving off of the bare minimum. She knew she could handle a night alone with Diana; even after the incident earlier in the day, but, a part of her hoped it would eventually go away from her brain instead of telling her how bad of a mother she was for getting herself in that situation.
She just hoped that everything would go back to normal soon now that everything was over. She was a vampire which made the Volturi happy and she didn't have to become a dark witch anymore. She had her child which made her ecstatic, and she had Edward which meant the world to her. While she still has some issues to get through, she had to listen to Edward's advice and focus on the positives because sometimes they really did outweigh the negatives.
Diana let out a gurgling sound when footsteps were made towards Lilith and Edward, the newborn turned to see Rosalie walking over towards them with a large smile on her face; it was as if Diana knew it was Rosalie coming their way. Rosalie rubbed her hands together as if it would generate heat and not surprise Diana by how cold Rosalie's hands were when she got closer towards the new family, her smile brightening as she made eye contact with her niece, "My turn." Rosalie stated and Lilith rolled her eyes as she let Rosalie take her daughter out of her arms.
Lilith smiled at the moment between Rosalie and Diana, seeing how much love was between the two, "You're really taking this whole godmother thing very seriously." Lilith commented as Rosalie rocked Diana in her arms, the baby gurgling and cooing, "Where does she even sleep when I'm not around?"
"In my arms." Rosalie answered which made Lilith smile again. She should of figured that out considering Diana only ever slept in her arms as well, "Or Edward's or Esme's."
The doors towards the backyard opened and the rest of the Cullen family walked through the door; Alice specifically skipping over before stopping right in front of them with her hands clasped, "Happy birthday." She said to Lilith and her eyebrow raised.
Her life had been so crazy that she had completely forgotten that it was her birthday the week before. She then let out a squeak, "Okay, I know I only stopped ageing a few days ago, but, I'm really glad you decided to still celebrate."
Alice looked impressed with herself before holding out a set of keys; two different ones to be exact—and one that looked as if it were a car key, "You got me a car?" She questioned the family, "That's too much, you didn't have to do that... I would've been happy with something small at this point after everything I put you guys through."
Alice made another face as she and the rest of the family were well aware of the next gift they were about to give her, but, even though the newborn was being modest, Alice knew that she was going to love it. Carlisle shrugged as he put his arms around Esme, "Well, we figured since you're no longer a witch and can't light your cars on fire, you might need one for yourself and the family." He explained Lilith's eyes softened.
They all knew she had her license but didn't own a car since she had accidentally set her last two on fire when she was learning control over her magic. But, since she would no longer have that issue, and she had a daughter to take care of, she would need a car in her life, "How extravagantly thoughtful of you." She mumbled as she held the key up to inspect the car's model logo, her eyes widening at what it was, "You really must have faith in me... because wow."
Carlisle and Esme looked at each other and laughed knowing that their gift was well liked before Alice smirked and pointed at the other key that was left dangling on the key ring, "And you'll be able to examine it for all its beauty when you go to your other surprise." She informed the blonde newborn.
Lilith looked at Alice with ridicule before looking over at her husband, she was confused as to why they were doing so much for her and what the next surprise could be that would top a car. Edward only shrugged at her but she had a small feeling that he definitely knew what it was. Alice grabbed onto Lilith's hand and began to drag her out the direction that they had just come in from, the girl turning back to look at Rosalie for help but the woman simply was too distracted by Diana to even look over at her and notice that they were out the door.
Alice continued to lead Lilith further south through the forrest, beaming about how excited Lilith was going to be when she saw the gift, while Edward followed after them with his hands in his pockets looking smug; his wife turning to glare at him every now and again for him not helping her or giving her hints.
Because at that point she knew he was in on it.
"Okay, I know I say I love surprises, but, this one is getting me a little worried." Lilith mentioned as she let herself be lead by Alice blindly; the smaller vampire having blindfolded her after a short amount of walking time.
"Don't worry too much, you'll love this one." Alice responded before grabbing onto her shoulders and making Lilith stop in her tracks. Alice took the blindfold off, "Welcome home!" She exclaimed with excitement. Lilith's eyes widened at the sight of the large yet modest cottage that was beautifully lit and covered with greenery. It looked like a place to call home. Home. Alice said home. Surely this wasn't just theirs to live in by themselves? Because if it was, they definitely spoiled her. Her eyes spotted the car that they had bought for her also and she bit her lip as realisation was settling in that this was her home with Edward. She continued to look at all the unique bits that pulled together her new home, "We thought you'd like a place of your own." Alice explained the reasoning.
The Cullens had all decided it was best to give Lilith, Edward and Diana a place to themselves so they could have their family time without the interruption of the rest of the family.
Lilith tried to form words at the generosity, looking in between Edward at Alice to try and get an idea of what to say, "What do you think?" Edward asked her.
"I think it's perfect." When she pictured a place to live in and raise a family, she pictured a quaint little house like the one in front of her, "But, you spoil me too much."
Edward grinned at her breathless reaction and kissed the side of her head, "And you spoil me everyday with everything you've given me. We just want to give back."
Alice smiled at the couple, "Go inside." She instructed them and Lilith turned to her sister in law to pull her into a hug to thank her before she grabbed onto Edward's hand and the two began to walk in towards their new home, "Have fun." Alice remarked cheekily before returning to the rest of the family.
The two walked towards the front door and unlocked it using the key that Alice had given them and opened it wide to see the living room had been lit up with the lamps, candles and the fireplace around the house, "I see Esme went all out with the interior design." Lilith commented. She could spot Esme's touch anywhere at that point. She had a magic for being able to make any space feel homey and bright in its own way. Lilith walked over towards the bookshelf, the girl chuckling when she pulled out one of the items off of the shelf, "Comics, huh?" She asked, turning back to look at Edward with a raised eyebrow.
He joined her over at her spot and picked up another one, handing her the Wonder Woman comic, "I figured we better make sure Diana grows up knowing who she's truly named after." He commented and Lilith rolled her eyes. Edward knew that she was subconsciously attracted to the name Diana because of her love for comics and it was all too convenient for it to be so perfect. But, either way, he loved Diana's name. It was perfect to him—even if she was named after a superhero.
He put the book back before grabbing onto his wife's hand and lead her around the living areas of the house before he walked over to one of the rooms, opening up the door to reveal Diana's room. She gaped at how calming and adorable the place looked, "This will be Diana's room." Edward told her as she continued to look from the cot to the small sofa with all of the stuffed teddies placed perfectly around the room.
"It's sad how quickly she's going to grow out of these things." Lilith mentioned with a frown while Edward hugged her from behind, "The clothes that Alice and Rosalie must of went crazy on are going to be too small for her soon." She could see how fast Diana was growing in front of her eyes, and she really wasn't sure how to react to it. She was a bit worried that she wouldn't get enough time with her at all.
"We'll cross that path when we get there, baby, but, in the meantime, let's just enjoy it while we can." He murmured into her neck, also understanding her worry and her fears about Diana's growth rate.
"Okay." She agreed before pulling away. Edward held her hand again and began to lead her to the other room that began with the closet, "Wow." Lilith mumbled as she noticed the fully stocked closet, pulling out some of the pieces and putting them back in their place. Most of the clothes in there were her own, but, she definitely noticed some new things that she hadn't seen before; assuming that Alice must of clearly stocked it herself.
She then turned around the corner to see the master bedroom. She stopped at the end of the bed to look around before her eyes returned to its place on the bed, "This is our room." Edward said in a raspy as he walked in behind her and moved her hair away so he could gain access to her neck and press a kiss onto it.
"I thought vampires didn't sleep." Lilith mentioned, looking at the bed in front of her as Edward continued to press light kisses up her neck.
"It's not intended for sleeping." Edward said slyly.
This caused Lilith to smirk and grab Edward by the shirt to throw him into the bed using her newfound strength, crawling over towards him and straddling his waist, "Want to make another one, huh?"
Edward chuckled at her, enjoying the sight of her on top of him, "As much as I'd love for Diana to have a sibling, I wouldn't want to put you through that traumatic experience again."
The image of her laying pale and lifeless with bite marks and blood all over her body flashed in front of her eyes. She blinked it away, feeling taken back at how she had seen it so clearly but shook it off thinking about how Diana had showed her what she looked like through her gift. Lilith thought about it more, it must of been so heartbreaking to see her that way for Edward. She was literally dead in front of him and he had to focus on bringing her back, taking care of the daughter and fending off the wolves. Her eyes softened, "I'm sorry you had to see me like that."
"Don't be sorry." Edward shook his head, bringing his hands up to caress her cheeks, "Just don't ever scare me like that again. I can't bare the thought of not having you with me."
"I promise." She said leaning in to kiss him. To lighten the mood, she got an idea and she then grinned, "Are you sure you don't want to make another? We could try for Mason this time."
"We can try." Edward mused as he spun Lilith around to be underneath him and kissed her deeply wanting to enjoy the alone time with his wife.
The next morning, Lilith and Edward walked back into the Cullen home, hand in hand, "Wow. Done already?" Emmett teased as he put down the newspaper that we was reading below his eye view, causing Carlisle to look up from his laptop with a raised eyebrow, "Break a lot of stuff?" The burly vampire continued.
Lilith could feel Edward's embarrassment from their bond and Lilith smirked, "Surprisingly not as much as I thought we would." She answered Emmett's question as she took a seat beside him, causing himself and Carlisle to chuckle as they ignored Edward's scoff as she did so.
"I'm assuming Diana is with Rosalie?" Lilith questioned while Edward finally joined then at the dining table where the rest of the family was sat.
"And Bella." Jacob added as he walked into the room, "I was with them too but they kept leaving me out of stuff and was hogging up all of her attention. I left when I realised they were doing it on purpose."
"Well, Rosalie is her aunt and her godmother." Lilith defended her friends, "And Bella is practically her other godmother and aunt even if it's not official."
Jacob looked over at Emmett for help, but the vampire only dropped his newspaper on the table and placed his hands up in surrender, "I don't make the rules, she does." He says as he points to Lilith who turned to look at the wolf smugly.
Jake chuckled as he sat at the table as well, crossing his arms over and resting his chin on top of the wooden table. "I really am gonna miss you guys when you go."
"Hopefully we won't have to leave for another few years." Carlisle piped up from behind his laptop. With Lilith's change, they would be able to hide the fact that she had become a vampire like the rest of the Cullens. They didn't have to worry about any humans that knew about them exposing their secret; they knew Bella wouldn't tell a soul. And hopefully they would be able to push a few more years before they started to notice Carlisle not ageing like he should be instead of being stuck looking as if he was in his mid twenties. It was Diana's growth rate that they would have to look out for in case she had any extreme growth spurts and someone began to notice if they saw her often.
They had discussed this with Bella and Jacob as they too worried and wondered what would happen to them in the future, but, Lilith made sure to let Bella know she would always try to stay in contact with her for as long as possible along with constantly update her about Diana.
"I'm gonna miss it here too." Lilith frowned as Emmett hummed in agreement, "I really liked being here, you know? It's where I met all of you." Even though she didn't grow up in Forks, it was her home. She had met Bella in Forks, she made all of her friends in Forks, it's where she met Edward and the rest of the Cullens, she met the pack when she moved to Forks and she found out about her life and her future there, and she got married and started a family in Forks.
It was everything to her, and she was definitely making mental notes to come back one day and hope that it would be equally as special, "Where would you guys go?" Jacob asked.
"Probably up to Alaska with our cousins for a bit." Edward answered him as he placed his arm around Lilith's shoulder to comfort her as she was thinking sadly about how she didn't want to leave, "We're definitely going to come back eventually though. This place is home."
"Good." Jake nodded. "As much as I didn't want to admit it at first, Forks isn't Forks without you guys, if I'm going to be honest." Lilith smiled at him sympathetically. She felt the exact same way.
