Lilith followed after her husband with excitement as she was ever so eager to properly meet Diana and hold her in her arms. She and Edward walked hand in hand down the corridor where she could already hear the noises that her child was letting out; no doubt being entertained by Rosalie. Her smiled widened as she noticed the Cullens all standing around looking down at what she presumed to be Diana while she cooed. They each turned around once they heard Lilith's footsteps getting closer towards them.

"Welcome to the family." Esme was the first to speak, catching the attention of Bella and Jacob also who had been too engrossed by Diana.

"You look amazing, Lilith." Alice stated after as she and Jasper pulled away from the bunch to give her and Edward some space to get closer.

Carlisle turned around next, a large smile also on his face, "Someone's been waiting to meet you." He informed before taking a step to the side.

Rose still had her back turned to Lilith as she held onto Diana, Lilith looked down at the vampire's feet seeing Dakota placed there and not taking her eyes off of Diana, "Rose." Edward called and the blonde haired vampire turned around with a large smile on her face.

It felt as if she was human and the air had been knocked out of Lilith's lungs once again when she locked eyes with her daughter and she cooed with recognition; more so when she saw the green eyes she imagined her to have. Rose handed Diana over to Lilith, the newborn vampire naturally holding onto her as if she had been a mother for years, a smile playing on her lips as Diana continued to look up at her happily.

Diana reached up, placing her small tiny hand on Lilith's cheek and almost immediately images flashed in her mind; seeing the day of her birth from her perspective, "What was that?" Lilith stammered quietly, almost as if she was afraid to ask.

"She showed you the first memory she has of you." Edward informed her, seeing exactly what Diana showed her.

"Showed me how?" Lilith asked again, completely in awe at what she had just witnessed.

Edward let out a quiet laugh, "How do I hear thoughts? How does Jasper control emotions? How does Alice see the future?" He rhetorically questioned her, "She's gifted."

Gifted. Her daughter was gifted. She was absolutely a special little girl and she was going to be even more incredible when she grew up. Lilith already couldn't wait to watch her grow into that amazing woman she envisioned less than a few weeks ago.

Diana reached up and placed her hand on Lilith's cheek again, and Lilith let out a smile at her daughter's words, "I love you too, little bug." Lilith whispered, "Although you're not as little as I thought you would be for a two day old." She was still quite small for a baby, yet for a two day old baby she was a bit bigger. She looked about a month old instead—but, then again, she wasn't too surprised considering she grew to full term in six months rather than the normal nine months. Diana continued to speak to her through her gift causing Lilith to giggle quietly, "My little introvert." Lilith let out an aw, gently tapping Diana's nose, "You're just like your daddy."

Edward didn't like to speak as much, and while Lilith considered herself somewhat shy, it wasn't as bad as Edward—or Diana's level either since she would speak to her mother through her gift. Edward chuckled at her words, she always told him he was very introverted ever since they met. He quite liked the idea that Diana would be a bit reserved like him in hopes that he wouldn't have to have his hands full if she were to grow up like Alice or Rosalie. But, whatever his daughter grew up to be like, he would love her either way because he just loved her. The two had bonded in the time that Lilith was turning, he never liked to be away from her for too long and was always close by whenever Rosalie or Bella had her.

He could tell he was protective and he was going to be even worse when she grew up into her teenage years, because what he had seen from Lilith's visions was that she would grow up to be beautiful like her mother and that a lot of people were after her romantically. Edward was only slightly more relieved to find out that she was an imprint, but, didn't like that it was going to be to Sam's son considering that they weren't exactly on the best terms; even if he decided to stand down from killing Diana. And he was very sure that Lilith would still feel the same way. He could feel how betrayed she felt that the pack turned their backs on her and tried to hurt her when she saw them as her family.

It seemed as if the people around her continued to betray her trust—including himself—but, on top of the wolves, now her own parents had done the same thing.

Lilith's head snapped up towards outside, seeing Sam and Paul standing at the front. Her eyes narrowed as Edward grabbed onto Diana already hearing that she was about to go on a warpath and wanted to make sure that she was ready for anything before she made her way towards them. He also didn't exactly trust the wolves around Diana still and wanted to keep them separated for as long as possible until he felt like they could be trusted. Rosalie almost instantly bounced over to him with a bright smile on her face as she reached for her to take Diana out of his hands so she could take care of her while Edward looked out for Lilith—which he happily obliged to.

"What are you two doing here?" She questioned them angrily, the two wolves sighed as the rest of the Cullens followed Lilith outside along with Jacob, Seth and Leah that had phased and joined them in case there were to be a fight break out.

Paul took a step towards her, "Can we just talk for a second—"

"No." The newborn vampire interrupted then swiftly, crossing her arms as she glared at both Sam and Paul who she once considered family.

"Lilith, please—" Paul began to plead with her again.

"No, Paul. I don't want to see you or any of the pack besides Emily anymore. And I won't apologise for being so hostile and unwelcoming either considering the last time I saw or heard from either of you, you were attempting to kill me and my child." She reminded him.

"Lilith, we're sorry." Sam interjected and Lilith narrowed her eyes once more as she leaned against the doorframe.

"Well, I'm sorry too, Sam. I'm sorry that an apology just won't cut it this time." She snarled, decided that she wanted this conversation over immediately and just wanted to be alone with her daughter, "You saw yourselves here, you can see yourselves out." Lilith turned around and walked back inside, seeing that Rosalie was holding onto Diana, her attention was all going towards the child as if there were nothing else more important than her.

She wished that her first few moments with Diana weren't ones of pain and suffering since her birth, but, she made a promise that she wouldn't ever make her know such things that Lilith had to go through. She just wanted Diana to be safe and happy, much like Rosalie wanted her to be also.

"You would've been a good mom." Lilith said sympathetically to Rose as she watched the blonde vampire coddle her daughter, catching her by surprise to look up at her in shock.

Rosalie only half smiled back sadly, that's all she ever wanted to be—a mother—but, with the cards that life had dealt her, she couldn't and she would forever be bitter towards it, "Thanks, Lil." She whispered, "But, I get to be an even better godmother and aunt, so, I'll take what I can get."

A few days later, Lilith had been siting outside by the trees as she held onto Diana tightly, letting the child have her stimulation for the day along with bond more with her before she shortly fell asleep in her arms while Dakota sat idly beside them and watching the two of them intently. She liked spending time with her daughter, she felt happy doing it and she wanted to be able to establish a tight bond between each other sooner rather than later.

She just wished that her own parents were there to interact with Diana also. They would have loved her, she was already such a sweet and loving baby, and she could tell that when she grew up that she would be the loveliest little angel to bless the earth.

Not to mention that everyone from the Cullen family would teach her and give her pieces of themselves that she would grow up to be loving like Esme, funny like Emmett, bubbly like Alice, smart like Jasper, restrained like Carlisle and strong like Rosalie but also incorporating the traits from Edward and herself also. She was just going to be perfect and Lilith just knew it—and she was already perfect to her now. It was amazing to see how in love with her that she already was and she never wanted that feeling to go away.

"Lilith, can I talk to you briefly?" She heard Carlisle ask her, her head turning up towards her father in law and nodding her head and placed her finger on her lips to signal to him to speak quietly so they didn't wake Diana up. Carlisle joined her, smiling down at his granddaughter before letting out a sigh, "I wanted to speak to you about your parents." He admitted and the newborn's head turned up towards him in alarm, "The night you gave birth, they left and I am sure you've already noticed that by now also."

"I'm unfortunately aware." She responded sadly. She then turned her head to face her father in law, "Carlisle, can I ask you about what happened that night?" She didn't know anything besides the fact that they had left when Ryker had told her, but other than that she had nothing. He couldn't see what had happened beforehand and only saw that they weren't there, and Carlisle had to know something, right?

"I'm going to be honest, Lilith, that night was a bit of a blur." He answered her, "Once we got past the barrier, they just disappeared without warning and left Esme, Emmett and I to defend ourselves against the wolves. We didn't exactly have time to try and figure out what happened to them since he had to try and get back to you as soon as possible without dying. Thankfully, we managed to get past them and get back to you guys before Sam attacked, but, we're just like you and had no idea they were planning to do such a thing."

She wanted to cry, and it was frustrating to her that she couldn't anymore. She wanted to cry her eyes out at how her parents had betrayed her and the Cullens. She couldn't understand what drove them to just disappear without warning or a goodbye at least. It was even worse to know that they disappeared the moment they saw that they could escape the wolves. But, she just wanted to know why they did what they did, "I'm sorry, Carlisle." Lilith whispered as she brushed the small light blonde hair's out of Diana's face. It was all she could say in that moment, she didn't know what else she could say.

"No, I should be the one saying sorry, Lilith." Carlisle gently placed a hand on her shoulder and gave it a tap, "They were your parents." He wasn't sure how to react when he realised that they had literally thrown them to the wolves and left their daughter who was dying alone. Carlisle realised that it would of been horrible to think that her parents didn't want her or care about her enough to do such a thing, and he hoped that they could figure out what was happening that night.

"And they were your friends. Doesn't make it any less horrible what they did, because they still did it." She reminded him, "And when I get my reason as to why, it better be good otherwise I won't let them near me or my daughter ever again."

Carlisle simply nodded his head in agreement with her decision. He too was wondering what could've made them do that to their own blood, and he hoped that Lilith would have some sort of answer also; but, it seemed as if they both were stumped as to what actually happened that night to them.

Lilith didn't want people in Diana's life that would disappear on her when she depends on them most; and if her parents were going to be those people, then she didn't want them around her. She had to protect Diana in every way that she could, whether it be physically, emotionally and or mentally.

"I've been waiting days for them to come back, you know?" She spoke, "But, with every passing day I lose hope that they're coming back. I'm scared of what it's going to be like once I completely lose that hope."

"I don't think you should focus too much on that." Carlisle lectured her, "If you're too engrossed by the negative things in your life, you'll miss out on witnessing the amazing things because you're too focused on the tragic things that have happened to you. And while it is good to reflect how far you've come, it can be tricky if it becomes the only thing you ever think about. You'll never be able to move past it."

Diana began to stir awake and Carlisle watched as Lilith's red eyes began to brighten and a smile formed on her face when she began to wake up like every previous worry had washed away like they never existed. Carlisle was right—like he always was—Lilith shouldn't constantly have to worry about her parents' disappearance herself anymore; she had Ryker looks for answers for her to give her time to focus on her new family with Edward.

She knew she was always going to leave her parents one day; more so when she decided to become a vampire, but, she wished that their ending as a family didn't end the way it did. After all, they were her family. But now, she had a new one; one that loved her and treated her as one of their own pretty much from the beginning of her relationship with Edward, even when they weren't blood related. The wolves even did the same—and while that part might be broken in the meantime, Lilith hoped that one day she would be able to forgive them for what they have done.

The people pleaser within her could see that they were only trying to protect their tribe, but, she wished it didn't come to that. She was thankful that their law stated that an imprint couldn't be harmed—even if it hadn't happened yet, but, she was slightly mad that it was the only reason that made Sam decide to stand down.

"I better take her inside soon." The newborn vampire frowned. She just looked so peaceful that she didn't want to move her from her spot where she would have the spotlight to the entire family and not be left alone. After too long with everyone, Diana would get fussy and cranky whenever she wouldn't be left alone for long enough. Lilith knew that everyone meant well, but she couldn't help but be overprotective and want her child to be calm and happy at all times instead of worked up.

Everyone had fallen so in love with her; and she in love with them, but, even then it was so obvious that Lilith was Diana's favourite—even over Edward. The Cullens each had bets on whether Diana would stay a mommy's girl or if she'd eventually become a daddy's girl later on. Carlisle completely believed that Diana and Lilith's bond would stay unmatched the entire time and Edward wouldn't be able to stand a chance. Esme didn't think the same way however.

"I'm sure Rosalie is probably just itching to get her hands on her at the moment." Carlisle chuckled to himself and Lilith laughed along with him as she thought about Rosalie and her love for Diana.

"I probably wouldn't be able to see her for a few days if I let her." She joked, lightly tapping Diana's nose and smiling when she gripped onto her finger.

"Maybe you'll finally get some alone time with Edward." Carlisle suggested and Lilith looked over at him with a raised eyebrow. Was he suggesting what she thought he was?

She shook her head before standing up slowly, being as stable as possible to not shake Diana too much and distress her from the movement before looking over at Carlisle, "Privacy is something we don't exactly get much of in this family." She remarked and Carlisle chuckled in agreement before standing up also.

With Edward's mind reading and Alice's visions of the future, nothing was every private within the family; someone's business was always known and Lilith knew that Edward was always so uncomfortable whenever he accidentally intruded on someone's thoughts during a moment he wasn't meant to. Everyone hoped that one day Edward would be able to find a way to tune out certain people's thoughts—especially Rosalie, according to him—and everyone could be able to enjoy themselves without feeling like there's always someone knowing a secret they're not meant to.

Suddenly, a snapping sound was heard, causing Lilith to snap her head towards the source; her new heightened hearing picking up the sound coming from above. She looked up seeing a large branch falling down from one of the extremely high trees and her eyes widened as she watched it fall down directly towards herself and Diana.

Without second thought and forgetting about her new abilities of super speed, she used her body to cover Diana from the impact of the branch and held a hand out to hopefully catch it in her hand.

Diana began to cry from how quickly Lilith had moved and she made a mental note to try and soothe her as quickly as possible after from how loudly she was crying.

When the branch didn't hit her or touch her hands, her eyebrows creased in confusion and looked up expecting to see Carlisle holding onto it but she only saw him looking upwards in amazement.

She moved her body from shielding Diana to look up at what he was staring at, only to match his expression as she saw the large branch being held back by a large shield that was shaped like a dome over Diana, Carlisle and herself.

"You're a shield." Carlisle stated in amazement. Her ability to create borders and the boundary spells as a witch must of carried over and formed itself into a gift as a vampire.

He gave her a nod to let her know that she could drop the shield as he braced himself to catch the branch when Lilith lowered her hand and dropped the shield. He caught it in both his hands before it hit them and threw it over to the side.

After the moment of shock passed by Lilith, she turned back to look down at Diana and try to soothe her by rocking her, whimpering our apologies for causing her distress and cursing herself for being so terrible at protecting her child.

Why didn't she think of just moving out of the way? Why did she think she was just going to catch it? And what if she didn't have her shield abilities, would the branch have crushed them from the amount of force it was coming down with? Would Diana been hurt or killed because of her incompetence?

"What is going on out here?" Edward questioned as he came outside, not noticing what was happening as he was engrossed with Alice's plans.

"Edward, I'm so sorry. I messed up. I don't know what was happening until it was too late." Lilith began to panic, causing Diana to cry harder while Carlisle tried to calm her down also.

Edward's eyes widened as he instantly thought of the worst scenarios possible, "Are you okay? Is Diana okay? What happened?" He asked as he took Diana out of her arms and tried to soothe her himself.

"They're fine." Carlisle answered for her, "Lilith isn't used to her new abilities as a vampire, but, she managed to protect us."

She wanted to cry again, and God, she was so frustrated that she couldn't cry. It was a release she simply wasn't getting anymore, "I feel like such a bad mother, I can't even protect my child properly."

"Lilith, you did fine." Carlisle told her, "She's safe and you protected her." No one is ever prepared to be a mother, no matter how much research and mental preparation people put themselves through—because once that baby is actually there, everything they thought they knew goes out the window. Carlisle could understand that it was most likely hard for Lilith to go through this change; she was learning how to be a vampire, unlearning her witch abilities and juggling being a new mother on top of that, so forgetting that she has super speed when she spent the last nineteen years with human speed didn't surprise him.

Edward looked into Diana's mind, "Baby, she's fine. She's just shaken up from how scared you looked." Edward told her and he watched as Lilith's eyes turned slightly fearful before she regained control over herself.

"Can I please just hold her?" She whispered, holding her arms out for Edward to pass their daughter back to her, "I just need to hold her right now. Please."

If she were still human, Edward knew that her heartbeat would of been going off the charts from anxiety, fear and adrenaline. Being a vampire, he was glad that she didn't have to worry about those things too much anymore. While she would still experience those emotions, her heartbeat and blood pressure wouldn't make it worse like it normally would. She always freaked out more when she noticed how fast her heart was racing.

Edward nodded and handed their daughter back over to Lilith—who was still unfortunately crying—and Lilith pressed a kiss to her heard and rocked her in her arms while apologising over and over again. Lilith looked into Diana's green eyes and hers softened. She wished that she would calm down, and her freaking out that she had hurt Diana or distressed her probably wasn't helping her in any way whatsoever.

She took a moment to close her eyes and stop rocking her; if she were still human, she would be taking in a deep breath. Maybe if she still did that even if she didn't need to breathe it would do something. She took in a deep breath and exhaled before looking back down at Diana, "I'm sorry, little bug." She whispered and gently rubbed her finger against Diana's cheek. Within seconds, Diana calmed down, as if Lilith being calm made her calm also.

Lilith realises that they had a strong bond, but, she didn't think it ran that deep which confused her. How was she able to do it that easily?

Edward and Carlisle both smiled; they were going to be fine, "You're not a bad mother, Lilith." Carlisle said to her, causing her to look up at him, "You have nothing to worry about. You're a natural."
