Lilith woke up the next day by the sound of a car honking outside her window. She pushed the covers off of her and she stepped out of her bed, and walked over to the window to see Edward standing by his car smirking at her, thinking her glaring at him while she had bed head was adorable. She quickly got ready and ran out of the door after she had said goodbye to her parents and walked over to Edward who had his arms out for her to hug him, which she ran into before they got into the car seats and drove towards the school.
"Monte Carlo? That's our prom theme?" Jessica asked Eric as she scowled as she tried to figure out a way to make her dress more on theme.
Eric hummed as he handed out flyers. "Gambling, tuxedos—and Bond, James Bond." He confirmed, smirking to himself for his reference.
Angela smiled as she held up her camera to take a photo of the scene; having been tasked to cover the prom for the school newspaper. She then heard the sound of a loud car engine and her camera lens followed the direction of the sound seeing Edward's car pull into a parking spot, "Oh, my God." She said with a excited smile, dropping her camera when she saw Lilith in the passenger seat of his car.
Edward got out of his seat and walked over to the passenger door, opening it for the small witch who got out and tried to hide behind her hair when she noticed everyone staring, "Everybody's staring." She observed while Edward smirked, putting his arm around her shoulders and pulling her tighter towards him as they passed by her group of friends who were sticking their thumbs up at them.
"Not that guy," Edward nodded his head at one of the random students they passed by, "No, he just looked." He backtracked.
"I don't get why they're staring, is it that rare of an occasion to see you with a girl?" Lilith looked up at him and he nudged her.
"It's because I'm breaking all the rules now." Edward responded with another smirk, "Since I'm going to Hell." Lilith's face dropped at the comment but ignored it anyway as she walked into class and Edward walked to his, ignoring the unimpressed stares of his siblings.
Lilith sat down in class next to Bella who was giving her a mischievous look, "What?" She questioned innocently to the brunette as she grabbed her things out of her bag.
"I thought you and Edward were just 'hanging out'." She raised her eyebrow at her.
"We were." Lilith confirmed, "But, we realised we had a lot more in common and I think there are some feelings involved... but, it's only the early stages and we're still figuring things out." She explained, "What about Jacob? How's that going?"
"After you left last night, he came by and we talked for a while. Things went by and next thing I know, we kissed." Bella answered with a shrug and Lilith's eyes lit up and let out a small squeal. She thought she did see Jacob's car drive past her when she left Bella's, but, she brushed it off thinking her mind was playing tricks and she wanted them to get together.
"Really? How was it?" She asked.
"Good—really good, actually." Bella nodded as she bit her lip thinking about the kiss with Jacob and how she wanted to do it again, "He's coming by again tonight, hopefully he asks me out."
"I'm so happy for you." Lilith admitted, "Fingers crossed that tonight's the night." She tells her.
"Same goes for you and Edward." Bella smirks as she nudges her, "You should've seen the look on Jess' face when she saw you and Edward together."
"She did say that no one was ever good enough for him, I'm assuming that she was included in that." She said sympathetically, she then shrugged, "But, she has Mike now and they seem happy enough." After Mike had asked Jess to prom, the two had been hanging out more and more often and they would both tell Lilith how their date was and gush to her about each other. Lilith thought it was adorable how much they liked each other. It seemed that Mike really did figure out his feelings quickly.
"They are kind of cute together." Bella agreed, "It looks like everyone in our group is coupled up now."
"Lucky us." Lilith said as she rested her face in her hands, daydreaming about what her and Edward were going to do later that day.

Edward and Lilith walked across the cliff line, jumping over the different rocks and fallen down trees in their way as they just talked. The two of them liked to go on walks and just talk about different things as they got to know each other better. There wasn't anything that was holding them back anymore, there were no secrets or lies, the space between them was comforting, honest and safe.
"I know I read up on vampires, but, there wasn't much in the books that I could find about them that my father wrote down and I feel like I should ask straight from the source." Lilith began to speak as she quickly stepped over another tree stump before she tripped on it, "Does a person have to be dying to become like you?"
"No, that's just Carlisle's thing." Edward answers as he held his hand out for her to grab so she could help herself get across a small puddle, "He'd never change someone who had another choice."
Lilith connected the dots that Carlisle was the one who changed Edward and that he was most likely dying regardless, "So, how long have you been a vampire?"
"Since 1918." He answered again, "That's when Carlisle found me dying of Spanish influenza. My father died in the first wave of it, and shortly after my mother got sick and I contracted it from her. She begged the doctor to do everything in his power to save me, and he did. He turned me shortly after my mother died."
"I'm sorry." Lilith said sympathetically, she wouldn't know how to feel if she ever lost her parents like that. Her parents were everything to her, "What was it like?"
"The venom was excruciating. It felt like fire was spreading through my veins and all throughout my body and I couldn't do a thing about it." Edward explained, "But, what Carlisle did was much harder. Not many of us have the restraint to do that."
The sound of thunder then cracked in the sky and Lilith cursed as she looked up in the sky and seeing that the clouds were now a dark grey colour—a clear sign that it was going to rain, "Sorry, I forgot to check the weather forecast today." She apologised and Edward shook his head and smiled at her before holding his hand out to take her to a spot that was covered. The two jogged over to it and Edward sat them down underneath the boulder as they continued their conversation just in time before it began to pour, "Why would Carlisle need to have a lot of restraint? I thought vampires would only have to, you know... bite."
"It's not that simple." Edward liked her curiosity and how she was so eager to learn more about him and his family, but there was still that part of him that was nervous about scaring her away, "When we taste human blood, a sort of frenzy begins, and it's almost impossible to stop."
"But, Carlisle did." She reminded him, thinking about how much strength and restraint Carlisle must of had.
"First with me, and then with his wife, Esme." Edward confirmed, "And then with Rosalie a few years after that."
"What about the rest of your siblings?" She questioned him again, remembering that there was also Alice, Jasper and Emmett in his family and Edward didn't mention Carlisle changing them.
"Their stories are a little different from ours. They weren't changed by Carlisle, but, were found by him or they found him years later." Edward replied vaguely, "I'm sure one day they'll each tell you their stories. A lot of us didn't come from great upbringings."
Lilith leaned her head against Edward's shoulder as she thought more about his life and Carlisle's teachings as Edward's father figure along with what the other members of the Cullen family had been through, "You mentioned that your family were different from other vampires. Is Carlisle the real reason that you don't kill people? Or is there something more than that?"
"I just don't want to be a monster." He answered her, "Our family refers to themselves as vegetarians because we only survive on the blood of animals. But, it's just as if a human were to survive on tofu; it keeps you strong, but, you're never fully satisfied."
"Do you ever wish you weren't a vegetarian?" She questioned him again.
"No, especially not now either." He responded, "If I were to lose control, I could hurt you and the thought of that pains me. So, as much as I hate it sometimes, I'll stick to never being satisfied."
"I don't think you could ever hurt me." Lilith told him. Edward was too protective and was always going out of his way to make sure she was safe, there was no way he could hurt her. But, there were most likely bad vampires out there that weren't like him and his family, "Do you think it was other vampires that killed Waylon and that worker up North?"
"Yeah." He answered her, "There are others out there, and we run into them from time to time. I was actually visiting another coven in Alaska when I disappeared for a few weeks when we first met."
Lilith chuckled as she thought about how frustrated she felt that entire week as she awaited his return so she could chew him out for being rude to her, only for her to never do so, "Don't remind me." She told him.
"When I came back, that was one of the few times when I could read your mind and hear how mad at me you were. That's why I tried to pull it together." Edward chuckled also. He felt so horrible when he heard her thoughts and he decided to introduce himself—which now he could see was the best decision he could ever make.
"Speaking of reading minds; can the rest of your family read minds like you can?" She asked again, "Sorry, I know I'm asking a lot. You can ask me some questions also to make up for it." She quickly blushed.
"Don't be sorry, Lilith. You're curious, I don't blame you." Edward expressed, "But, no, it's just me that can read minds. Alice can see the future, however, and Jasper's an empath."
"Did she see me coming?" Lilith giggled as she thought about it. She wondered what the vision would have looked like. She was kind of upset that her visions never mentioned Edward coming into her life—she only ever imagined getting hit by a van.
"Alice's visions are subjective. I mean, the future can always change." Edward said as the rain began to calm down to the point of it stopping all together before he stood up and held out his hand for her to help her up, "But, yes, she did see you coming." He answered. Edward didn't believe it at first when Alice told him excitedly about a small blonde girl coming and pushing her way into his life, but, once she stepped into the Biology classroom on her first day, he could no longer deny it. He felt overwhelmed that day when he knew the outcome of Alice's vision was going to come true along with the unexpected desire to be around her, and he couldn't handle it when she was physically sitting next to him, "I think it's my turn to ask you some questions." Edward smirked as they began to walk again, "Have you always been a witch?"
"I mean, technically yes—I was born a witch, but, I didn't exactly get my magic until I hit puberty which wasn't exactly fun for me." Her nose crunched as she thought about when her emotions were all over the place and she had to try and control the magic that would come spurting out also, "My parents say it's a good thing for them as they wouldn't of been able to handle me as a baby if I had magic." They had both expressed their fear with the thought of having to take care of a newborn who had magic powers that they couldn't control and her parents wouldn't be able to subdue. It was hard enough to take care of a regular baby; they could only imagine how much harder it would be if they had magic.
"Do you have only a specific power when it comes to magic or can you do many different things?" He asked again as he put his hands in his pockets.
"Some witches like to master a particular type of magic, but, most of them can do everything with a little bit of practice and a good spell book." Lilith explained, "But, some witches are more powerful than the rest of us because of their darkness. My parents don't like to talk about them much because it's so taboo in our community, but, dark witches are the ones who give witches bad reputations."
"How can you differ a good witch from a dark witch?" Edward asked. It would be good for both him and his family to know the signs and would know to stay away from them.
"Mainly in what they practice. A pure witch uses their magic for good reasons; to help people or for nature and for good health. A dark witch uses their magic to harm people and use it for other terrible things just because they can." Lilith explains, "My parents fear because of my growing power that I would become one, and I pray every day that I don't."
Edward looked at her sympathetically, relating to her about not wanting to be a monster more than she knew, "I don't think you could turn out to be something like that. You're too good."
"My worst fear is becoming something like that regardless of how good I am. My parents worry also that I will. They try not to show it, but, I see it in their eyes." The witch admitted, "So, all I can really do is hope that using the least amount of magic possible can help stop me turning into something like that."
"How does that work?" He asked.
"Dark witches can sometimes get turned by the temptation of wanting more power and more magic. There are limits to magic and using too much can tire you. Dark witches have almost unlimited amounts of magic because they feed off of dark objects and energies." She explained, "If I use less magic, less often, I can't be tempted by my own power to turn if that makes sense." The two began to walk back to Edward's car as he could tell it was going to be dark soon and he didn't want her to get home too late in case of any predators as they continued to talk about both of their abilities, "Does it bother you that I know about you?" Lilith suddenly questioned.
"I guess I could ask you the same question." Edward responded, remembering how she was adamant about keeping her secret to herself also, "But, no. I like that I can be open with you. I don't have to hide what I am. It's a lonely thing—being a vampire—but, I don't feel lonely with you."
Lilith blushed, "I don't feel lonely with you either."
Lilith had a smile on her face the entire way home as she thought about the last few weeks with Edward and all she could think about was how fast she was falling for him. She didn't even know if she could consider it a crush anymore.
Edward reached over and grabbed onto her hand, entwining their fingers together as he continued to drive, suddenly getting an idea, "How would you like to come to my place tomorrow?"
Lilith looked at the vampire, "To meet your family?" She asked him to elaborate and he nodded. She quickly began to feel nervous at the thought of meeting his family so soon and they weren't even dating, "What if they don't like me?"
"Lilith, they'll love you. You have nothing to worry about." He reassured her. The Cullens had known about Lilith's existence ever since Alice envisioned her months ago and they were all excited to meet the girl that was going to change Edward's life.
Lilith could only sigh and nodded, "Okay." She agreed and it made Edward grin from ear to ear as he was now excited too for her to meet his family.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow, okay?" He told her and she nodded again with a small smile on her face. She opened the car door and quickly leaned over to press a small kiss to his cheek before running into the house, feeling his piercing gaze on her back all the way until she closed the door behind her.
Lilith leaned against the door with her eyes widened as she let out a breath she had been holding in and slid down until she was sat on the ground, "Oh, my God." She realised.
She couldn't believe she kissed his cheek. Were they even at that stage yet? All they had ever done was hold hands and hug each other. Kissing was a whole other thing for them and she didn't even realise she had done it until after. It felt natural for her to do that but maybe it was just her feelings for him telling her to do it, or maybe it was just because they were comfortable with each other.
Either way, she was embarrassed.
How was she supposed to face him and his family tomorrow without her face going red with embarrassment?
