For the days after the Biology incident, Edward Cullen never showed up to school with his siblings. It made Lilith's confidence and determination to confront him diminish fast as she waited longer and longer for him to be sitting at that biology lab table waiting for her. Bella had long given up on confronting Edward after the second day of his disappearance. She felt like it wasn't really worth her time on worrying about it any longer since she had it in her mind that she might of forgotten to put deodorant on after gym class and Edward had a really strong sense of smell.

Her parents soon began to seem stressed out about something that they didn't tell her about either—which was more worrying since they wouldn't talk about it with her. The two of them would have hushed conversations in the other rooms to Lilith and when she would walk in said room they would instantly cut the conversation and pretend as if they weren't speaking at all which piqued Lilith's curiosity levels immensely and her mind wondered about the different scenarios or situations they could be talking in private about.

When Lilith got to school, she met with Bella who told her all about how Eric was about to ask her to prom; but, Mike thankfully interrupted them accidentally—it might of even been on purpose knowing Mike but she kept that comment to herself. Lilith was about to ask if she wanted to go with her as friends, but, Bella soon explained that she wasn't exactly into proms or dances at all and she never went to them.

As they walked into class, Lilith looked at her desk, her eyes widening as she spotted Edward sitting at his seat by the windowsill. She quickly composed herself and walked over to sit next to him, Bella mouthing 'good luck' to her as she sat next to Mike.

Lilith gave him a look before scoffing and looking back to the white board, "Hello." He said to her stiffly, causing her to look at him confused. She was confused as to why he was speaking to her considering he didn't say a word to her the last time they saw each other and he was trying to change classes right away. She didn't expect him to speak to her until after she had confronted him and cleared the air, "I'm sorry, I didn't get a chance to introduce myself last week. I'm Edward Cullen. You're Lilith?"

"Um. Yes." She nodded before Mr. Molina began to teach the class about what they were doing for the lab and what was on their slides. Lilith leaned over and whispered, "You know, there's a lot nicer ways to tell someone that they smell instead of covering your mouth and gagging in front of their face." She told him, leaning back to her side of the desk.

Mr. Molina then told the class that they had to seperate and label the samples into different phases of mitosis, and whoever won would get the golden onion as a prize. Lilith smirked to herself, pushing over the microscope towards Edward, "Ladies first." She said, Edward chuckling at her before looking into the microscope, "You were gone a while." She observed.

"Yeah. I was out of town for a couple of days. Personal reasons." He informed her, it wasn't a complete lie as he had been in Alaska with close family friends of theirs, trying to get his head straight before returning home, "Prophase." He then told her about the sample.

"Do you mind if I check?" Lilith asked nicely.

Edward raised an eyebrow, "You don't trust my answer?" He questioned back. Edward slid through microscope across and Lilith's hands accidentally brushed his and the girl quietly gasped from the sensation that spread across her hand and from the temperature. She assumed that the coldness of his hands was from the weather as she brought the object towards her and it might have been just an accidental shock.

Lilith then shrugged slyly, "It's not that I don't trust your answer—it's just that golden onion is just way too tempting to let slip through my hands so I want to make sure it's correct." She told him looking into the microscope seeing that it was indeed prophase while Edward stared at her adoringly, "Good to see that you kept up with your biology homework while you were away. It's prophase." She commented.

Edward chuckled, "Like I said." He pointed out and wrote the answer down, "So... are you enjoying the rain?" He suddenly asked.

Lilith snorted uncontrollably, she was so caught off guard by his small talk and the boy gave her a look as to why she was laughing, "You're asking me about the weather?" She asked him back.

Edward's eyebrows furrowed, "Yeah... I... I guess I am." He couldn't quite wrap his head around her.

The blonde haired girl then sighed, "Well, to answer your question: I am. I love the rain. Winter is my favourite season, it's just so warm and snuggly and no one can judge you for dressing ugly since everyone just wants to wear things that are warm." She answered him, ignoring the small chuckle she received from him, and placing another slide on the microscope and looking at it, "Anaphase." She told him.

"Do you mind if I look?" Edward asks her with a small smirk.

"It's only fair that you do." Lilith smiled, pushing it over towards him. She felt as if they were making a small connection and she had no idea why she wanted to be this boy's friend so bad and why she took his bad reaction last week to heart since it wasn't anything unusual for her to have people not like her or want to be her friend. But, for some reason Edward was different.

Edward then confirmed her answer about the cell being anaphase, "I guess it's really lucky that you love the rain and just so happened to move to the wettest place in the continental US." He commented.

"Yeah, it's about time my parents listened to my suggestions about where to live next." She joked, "We always moved to really dry and hot states. It was absolute torture some days."

"I'm assuming you move around a lot." Edward observed, "May I ask why?"

"It's... complicated." Lilith answered vaguely. It wasn't that complicated, she just couldn't tell him, That in itself might make it complicated, but, to Edward, that was all he needed to know.

"I'm sure I can keep up." Edward pressed, a small smirk plastered on his face.

Lilith exhaled and shrugged, trying to buy herself some time to come up with a plausible answer, "My family has to move around a lot because of my dad's job. He helps out around different hospitals when they're struggling until they begin to run smoothly and then he'll usually take up a job somewhere else. So... it's not actually that complicated when I say it out loud."

Edward smiled at her answer, checking the next slide, "It's metaphase. Do you want to check it?"

"No, I believe you." Lilith smiled back, looking into his eyes she began to realise the colour of them were now amber. They weren't black like the last time she had seen him. Her eyebrows furrowed as she thought about it, maybe it was just the way the room was lit last time, "So, how come your family moved to this little town? From what everyone says your dad is quite the doctor and that the hospital is lucky to have him when he could of been at some expensive private hospital doing work for celebrities."

"I guess it's the same as your father." Edward told her, relief flooding through him as he noticed her looking into his eyes but thankfully she didn't question it, "He likes to help people more than chase money, and he always said that he liked small towns better rather than the big cities. He heard from a friend that there was an opening here, and then the next thing we knew, our family packed our bags and we moved here."

"Smart and humble." The girl noted about his father. From what her father told her, those were good qualities to have in a doctor. The conversation then ended there much to Lilith's dismay as Mr. Molina began to check everyone's answers and announce the winner of the golden onion.

After class had finished, Bella and Lilith walked over towards Bella's truck while clutching the golden onion Edward had let her keep from class. The brunette had began driving Lilith to school when she found out that she didn't have a car yet and she was walking to school in this weather, which made Lilith feel grateful that she had a friend like Bella who cared enough to do that for her. She made a mental note to drive Bella to school a few times also when she did get her new car.

Lilith walked over towards the passenger side of the truck, looking back at Edward who was across the car park staring at her while Bella walked over next to her, making conversation with their friends who were a few feet away from them.

She had then gotten a feeling that she had forgotten something, and Lilith opened up her bag to check if she had forgotten any textbooks she would need later that night for homework as she assumed that was what she forgot. The girl then soon heard tires screeching and honking not too far from her and she looked to see what was going on.

She quickly turned around to see Tyler's van swerving uncontrollably towards herself and Bella and instinct automatically kicked in as Lilith's eyes widened, quickly shoving Bella away from the van, the human girl going tumbling to the ground out of the way to safety.

Lilith's crouched down in a bracing position, seeing the van sliding towards her, she quickly put her hands out sending a whoosh of power, summoning a kind of energy that created a forcefield to protect her from the vehicle, sending her back to hit her head against the orange truck behind her just as Edward appeared beside her to push the end of the van away from her.

Lilith gasped, having noticed that he so effortlessly pushed the van away, "What are you?" They both said to each other, as Lilith began to drift out of consciousness. Students quickly came rushing over towards them, including Bella, frantically calling 911 to get an ambulance.

Eventually, Lilith's eyes couldn't stay open and the world went dark surrounded by the students and Edward Cullen.

Lilith opened her eyes slowly, almost instantly regretting it as a surge of light hit her eyes causing her to groan loudly and catch the attention of Bella who was sitting on the chair beside her hospital bed, "Are you okay?" Bella asked, rushing to her side.

"Are you okay?" Lilith croaked out, remembering how hard she had shoved her to the side, "I pushed you really hard, I'm sorry."

"Just some scrapes and bruises. Nothing compared to what happened to you." Bella shrugged it off, "My dad was so angry and tried to suspend Tyler's driver's license." Lilith frowned, it wasn't like Tyler had done it on purpose, the road was extremely slippery and with one small fast movement it could end very badly like it unfortunately did earlier. Bella noticed the look that Lilith made, "Don't worry, I talked him out of it." She reassured her, and then quickly excused herself to go to get a doctor to tell them that Lilith had woken up.

Soon, Oliver Bailey came walking into her room with Bella following behind him, "Hey, hobbit, how are you feeling?" He asked her, causing Bella to look at him strangely as to why he had nicknamed Lilith.

Lilith whined, "I jinxed myself, papa." She said and Bella finally realised what was going on and who the man was to Lilith, "The night before school started I wished that I could get hit by a car so I wouldn't have to go to school."

Oliver chuckled as he checked her clipboard and her vitals, "Now you know why they say 'careful what you wish for'." Especially in the Bailey family, if they wished hard enough they really could make something happen with their magic or they could predict something happening in the future.

     "Funny." Lilith deadpanned.

"Hilarious, actually," Oliver then flashed a small flashlight in Lilith's eyes and began to do a concussion test on her, "Shockingly enough, you don't have a concussion even though you hit your head pretty badly. But, you could experience a bit of post-traumatic stress or disorientation so I'll need to keep a bit of an eye on you for the next few days to monitor it, but, I'm sure it's nothing Dakota can't handle either."

"Dakota isn't a support cat, papa." The blonde deadpanned again at her father. The black cat was a little clingy when it came to Lilith—not that she minded since she loved Dakota with her whole heart—but, she knew that her pet wasn't quite cut out for that responsibility.

"She might as well be one now, it's about time she started to pull her weight around the house." Oliver joked, his tone lightening up knowing she was going to be completely okay and there wasn't going to be any further health related issues, "It's just a shame that the ice isn't that helpful towards the uncoordinated, isn't it? We might have to get you one of those walking aids." He thought out loud, placing a finger on his chin.

     "Papa..."

Oliver chuckled, his daughter was fine and he had nothing to worry about any longer and he wanted to cheer her up slightly, Lilith knew it too which was why she was so quick to join in on the banter with her father, "I'm sorry, hobbit, but, it's true. You're very uncoordinated."

Lilith rolled her eyes, spotting Bella in the corner of the room feeling uncomfortable and left out of the interaction between Oliver and Lilith, it was weird to see how comfortable and friendly the family was with each other considering she and her dad are very distant, "I'll give you guys a minute." Bella said, walking out of the room to go and get herself a juice or something from the cafeteria in the meantime.

The blonde then sighed, knowing she had to tell her father about what had happened with the van, "Edward Cullen saw me use my magic." Lilith admitted softly, "I panicked when I saw the van coming towards me and I used it to protect myself, Edward arrived just as I did. I'm sorry." She let out a shaky breath. She didn't want her parents to be disappointed in her for not being careful about when she used her magic so openly in front of other people who had no idea of the supernatural. She felt bad because whenever there was a slip up such as this one, they would have to move again. She didn't want to move. Forks was different. She could feel it, it was going to be different this time round.

When she looked up, Oliver didn't look worried at all, "It's okay, hobbit, you did it to protect yourself. We'll talk about it later." He told her, but, it seemed that he was hiding something from her also, "Speaking of Edward, he's been waiting outside your room all night for you to wake up. I'll let him know you're awake and you two can talk." He said walking out of the room to go get him.

Soon, Edward came strolling into the hospital room. The look on his face made it seem he was somewhat worried, Lilith couldn't tell if he was worried about her or his secret being spilt by her, "How are you feeling?" He asked her quietly.

As much as she wants to answer him truthfully, her walls came up to protect herself and her brain went into defence mode to protect her stability, "I won't tell anyone about what you can do as long as you don't tell anyone about me." Lilith blurted coldly, her eyes not meeting Edward's. She needed to protect herself and her family before anything else, even if it meant destroying the growing friendship between herself and him.

Edward began to panic when he realised that she had remembered what had happened clearly when he was hoping she would've forgotten or believed it was a dream, "What are you talking about? I was standing right next to you and the edge of Bella's truck knocked the van away."

Lilith scoffed, "Don't gaslight me, Edward. I may have hit my head but that doesn't mean I'm completely delusional and imagined the whole thing." She said, "I won't say anything about the fact that your eyes change colour, or that you can move at the speed of light, or that you're so incredibly strong that you can push a moving van away with just the palm of your hand... as long as you don't say a thing about what you saw either." She repeated. Edward then sighed, realising that she had caught on and he couldn't hide his secret completely from her any longer considering that she had her own to hide. When Lilith didn't receive a response, she moved her head to try and catch his attention, "Okay?" She asked, wondering if they had come to an understanding.

"Okay." Edward nodded and then left her room, leaving Lilith by herself knowing she just shattered any potential of them being friends like they were in Biology.

But, was it worth it? She guessed she would never know.
