"HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT QUITTING?" Natasha's question had Jaxon slightly blinking away the exhaustion in his eyes. Well, at least trying to after the long day he had yesterday, and hers included. Both had put all their attention to their work with Natasha leaving for a short mission and Jaxon training and researching the target he was given by Catherine.
Shifting slightly, Jaxon glanced down at the woman who rested her chin on his chest, watching him intently. His eyes flickered out the window to the right side of their bed to only hear the faintest sound of vehicles. They were far away from the troubles of New York without anyone able to bother them. A very simple and welcoming feeling for Jaxon who has always been the type to jump location to location, a drifter some may say.
But staying stationary was far better, the plus was that he got to be in that place with the woman he loved. "Yeah," He confessed as he turned his attention back to Natasha. Moving a stray strand of her hair out of her face to brush his thumb against her cheek. "Yeah, I've been thinking about it for quite a while."
Ever since he met Natasha, there had been a whole internal battle going on within his mind. Questioning if leaving this life of purpose would be worth it if he only stayed home and did nothing with himself. He needed a purpose to continue living, it was something that he had searched for forever since a child. If that meant comforting his older sister, doing homework or even getting into school fights. There had been an offer for him to work with S.H.I.E.L.D. from Natasha, but he shot her down. From what he'd learned, if he moved to her boss's ex-husbands department, that wouldn't end very well.
So, the least that could be done was to continue with what he was doing and spend his free time with Natasha. Which turned out to be enough for the pair for a while, but there would inevitably be the urge for both of them to want more. Even now, Jaxon wanted so much more with the woman but hadn't been the greatest to express that to her.
"Do you think, down the road, we could become more?" The question had a smirk tugging at Jaxon's lips as he raised a teasing brow towards the woman. "What? You want me to marry you?"
Natasha scoffed, slapping his chest and rising from the bed. The immediate loss of her warmth had his smiling slightly faltering. But it returned with a tiny flick of his fingers. A set of orange tendrils wrapped around the woman's waist and pulled her back down to him. Yelping in surprise as she fell back towards the bed.
Giggling when she was met by the warm embrace of her boyfriend's chest against her back. "Where do you think you're going?" He husked, placing delicate kisses across the nape of her neck as she chuckled. "I'm getting away from you since you decided to make it a joke. You know you and my sister would get along quite well." Natasha smiled teasingly.
That had Jaxon's smile falling as his movements stopped for a moment. Once again, he sucked at communicating his emotions to the woman. She always knew the signs and could easily make a move to comfort or welcome. But they had never talked about getting married, yet, it was still something he'd thought about for them in the future.
"Who says I was joking?" He whispered, the woman inhaling sharply as she turned around in his hold. Propped up onto her forearms as she stared down at him, the tiniest quirk of a smile. Barely noticeable at first glance, but Jaxon could see it and he smiled. "When it comes to you Nat and our future, I don't joke around about it."
The one rule that had been set between them was to never hold secrets and be truthful. Now, there were exceptions to this as some things with work couldn't be discussed. That was clearly understood, but everything else had been put out there in the air. It had been the best way to understand one another and have trust for one another, even if times seemed shaky.
Natasha lowered her gaze to her hands, toying with the ring around her middle finger. "You know I can't have kids." She whispered like it was some sort of top-secret thing. When in reality, it had been the one thing that least bothered Jaxon. Call it cliche, but as long as he had her, he was happy. Nothing could truly replace that love he held towards the woman.
"Hey, look at me." He beckoned, cupping her chin and tilting it up to look at him. Those piercing emerald eyes held sadness, the pain of her past evident within the green. "As long as you are with me, I won't need anything else. You are everything." A slow beat of silence formed over the pair as Jaxon's lips quirked into a smirk. "But if it was an animal you wanted instead of a wedding ring, then, by all means, we'll get a dog."
That caused a smile to form on her lips as she leaned into his touch. Staring at each other lovingly, never wavering as they took in one another's appearance. It felt like minutes but had only been a few moments and it had been Natasha leaning forward pressing a delicate kiss to his lips.
It was passion-driven, their lips slotting perfectly together as their lips moved together with ease. Almost as if they had been built for one another. Well, that's what Jaxon believed at least since a large part of himself had been given to Natasha and the same was reciprocated with her.
Jaxon had barely noticed that Natasha had moved to straddle him. Hands resting on his stomach, dragging her nails against his abs, smirking in the kiss when he groaned. They knew one another weaknesses and Natasha took every opportunity to use Jaxon's against him. Loving how she could disarm him with so much ease.
"You're going to be the death of me, baby." He husked when she pulled away, peppering kisses along his jaw. A throaty chuckle came from Natasha who pulled away, tilting her head to the side in false innocence. "Well, maybe you should do something about it."
After she said that, she yelped when she was lifted off him and forced onto the bed with her arms being pinned above her head by orange tendrils. Biting her bottom lip when Jaxon had slotted himself between her legs on his knees. Smirking upon seeing the warm blush that flooded her cheeks, chest rising and falling in anticipation.
But it was the orange blown out pupils in his eyes that turned her on the most. Leading her to try and tug her arms down, silently pleading to break free from the man's powers and pull him close. Stare into those beautiful eyes as he fucked her into oblivion.
"Your thoughts are loud, Natasha."
That reminder had her smirking, lifting her head as she stared daringly into his eyes. I love it when you use your powers. The thought had him smiling slightly, slowly slithering down to his stomach between her legs. "You know why I don't use them, baby." He reminded, placing a kiss on the inside of one of her thighs. Teeth nipping at the skin, earning a whine from the woman above him.
When a mission had gone wrong in Jamaica, Jaxon remembered waking up in a facility. And the first thing he remembered was moving his hand with a bit of a flick and one of the doctors in his room went flying into a wall. That had been the first and one of the only times he had used it. The unsettling fear for using them has always been there since the moment he got them. Not at all seeing them as a gift, but instead a curse.
"I know," Natasha acknowledged in a whisper, lifting her head to watch her boyfriend move slowly between her legs. Leaving bite marks along the inside of her thighs and licking the marks. An unsettling amount of heat rose in her body making the hairs on her body stand up. "But the least you can do is use them in bed."
A laugh rumbled from Jaxon's chest as he wrapped his arm around her thighs, pulling her heat close. "If that's what you want, then that's what you'll get." He breathed with lust filling his system.
Before anything like that could happen, the ringing of a phone cut the moment off. Both turned to see it was Natasha's iPhone on the bedside table. "I thought you said you were free today." He stated, sitting up to lean over her. "Well, I need to still answer it. So, how about you let me go?" She replied with a smirk.
"I mean, they can leave a voicemail."
"And what if the world is ending?"
"They can still wait."
"You would rather fuck me than allow me to help stop the world from ending?" Natasha questioned, smiling having widened increasingly as she stared up at Jaxon who shrugged with a smirk of his own. "I think they can manage."
"Jaxon." She scolded and Jaxon rolled his eyes with a huff. "Fine, fine." He sighed as the tendrils around her wrist disappeared, allowing the woman to reach over and answer the phone. "Hello?"
Sitting up against the headboard of her bed, Natasha watched Jaxon slip out of the bed and grab a pair of grey sweatpants. Even after a year of dating, she always found herself captured by everything he did. It could be the smallest things like taking out the trash or doing the dishes. Despite him being an assassin, the domestic life didn't look too bad on him.
After slipping a shirt on, Jaxon turned to Natasha as she rose from the bed. One of his t-shirts hugged her frame and reached down just below the swell of her butt. He watched as she glanced at him. Smiling softly as she walked around the bed to stare out the window. Humming softly to whoever was talking to her before sighing. "Yeah, I'm on my way. Ok, bye."
"Who was it- Wait, let me guess. It was work." His comment had Natasha flicking his ear with a grin. "I need to go in for a few hours. Isn't anything too important, so it shouldn't take too long." She stated as she shrugged the shirt off and began getting changed into some presentable clothes.
"I don't think Fury knows the idea of letting people have a break," Jaxon stated as he collapsed onto the bed as Natasha laughed. "Yeah, the same could be said for Catherine, Jax." She countered as she buttoned up the jeans she slipped on and faced her boyfriend. He opened his mouth, about to try and defend his boss, but shrugged. "Fair point."
Natasha chuckled softly as she slipped on one of her shirts and a leather jacket before walking towards Jaxon. "When's your next mission?" She inquired as Jaxon blew out a raspberry. "4 days. Toronto."
Carefully, Natasha straddled the man and leaned down. "Well, I'll discuss with work about getting that well-needed break from work. I'll come with you." It wasn't a promise, that much Jaxon knew. Because she could be called at any moment and be needed. So, as much as Jaxon would like to hold his breath in hope, he didn't find it in himself.
Smiling, Jaxon nodded. "Okay," Their lips connected for a quick and small kiss as Natasha pulled away with a smile. "I love you." She whispered, Jaxon's lips forming into a smile of pure and unconditional admiration for the woman above her. "And I love you."
And like that, with one more kiss, Natasha slid off him and exited the bedroom. The seconds ticked down and when the sound of the front door shutting with a loud echoing click, Jaxon sighed. Staring up at the white ceiling as his hands rested on his stomach.
Many things ran through his mind at that moment. So many things that it had him sitting up and holding his head in his hands. This lifestyle, everything he got to feel and see whenever he woke up in the morning resting in his arms. He wanted that forever, willing to do everything in his power to keep it and have it.
And if that meant losing his purpose for a little while, that was a risk he was willing to take.
