๐โ๐ผ two vampires clashed once more, exchanging brutal blows. Frank gained the upper hand and bit into Gabriel's neck, draining his blood. Gabriel, weakening, forcefully ripped Frank off his neck, then fell to the ground. Frank turned his attention to the girls, throwing Sammy away from Annabelle. Sammy landed near Gabriel, her eyes wide with fear.
Frank approached Annabelle, smiling cruelly. He pulled her forward, making her scream in agony again. The sound broke Sammy's heart.
"Time to join the team," Frank sneered, lowering his head toward Annabelle's neck. With a surge of defiance, she delivered a powerful headbutt, smashing his nose. As Frank staggered, she kneed him hard in the side, making him grunt in pain. Enraged, Frank grabbed a wooden stake and plunged it into Annabelle's stomach, her gasp echoing through the room. Gabriel's eyes widened in horror as Frank flung Annabelle across the room, her body crashing into a table and knocking it over.
"No!" Sammy screamed, the sight tearing at her heart. Gabriel's reaction was instantaneous and primal. His powerful, terrifying screech filled the air as he pounced on Frank with renewed fury. Bones snapped under Gabriel's unrelenting strength, each break accompanied by Frank's pained howls. Even though Frank could heal, the agony was unbearable. "You thought you could just hurt my wife without any consequences!" Gabriel's voice trembled with rage. Annabelle, struggling, managed to sit up and painfully pulled the stake out of her wound. She staggered towards Gabriel and threw the weapon to him. Gabriel caught it effortlessly, and with Sammy's help, they held Frank down, the stake poised for the fatal blow.
"Here's the thing about being a vampire, Frank. It takes a long fucking time to learn how to do all the cool shit," Gabriel snarled. With that, he drove the stake into Frank's chest with all his might.
"Oh, fuโ" Frank began, but his words were cut off as his body burst apart, sending both Sammy and Gabriel flying back. Gabriel sat up, a grim smile of satisfaction crossing his face at the sight of Frank's remains. But the reality of the situation crashed back down on him as he saw Annabelle lying on the floor. "Annabelle..." he whispered, rushing to her side. He cradled her close, his voice breaking, "No, no, no... Please, no." Sammy watched, her own eyes filling with tears as she saw the monster she once feared reduced to a broken man weeping for his love.
"Annabelle, please, you're okay," Gabriel pleaded, his voice trembling. Annabelle looked at him weakly, lifting a hand to wipe his tears. Gabriel kissed her palm tenderly, shaking his head as he saw her trying to speak.
"Shh. Don't speak," he murmured, pressing his lips to her forehead. Sammy hurried to their side, taking Annabelle's other hand, both women's eyes meeting in shared pain and fear.
"I'm glad you're here," Annabelle whispered, her voice barely audible.
Gabriel's tears fell freely as he held her tighter, "I'm here, love. I'm here. Stay with me."
Annabelle's breathing became shallow, her strength fading. Gabriel, his heart breaking, kissed her again, whispering, "I love you, Annabelle. Always."
With her last bit of strength, Annabelle smiled weakly, her eyes filled with love and sadness. "I love you too," she whispered, before her eyes closed, her hand slipping from Gabriel's grasp.
Gabriel's anguished cry filled the room as he held her lifeless body, the depth of his loss consuming him. Sammy, unable to hold back her own tears, wrapped her arms around both of them, offering the only comfort she could in the face of such overwhelming sorrow.
However, Gabriel heard a faint heartbeat. It was weak, but it was still there. His eyes widened with hope as he looked at Annabelle. He kissed her forehead and whispered, "Forgive me, my love, but I can't lose you again." With that, he gently moved her hair away from her neck. Before biting, he placed a tender kiss on her skin, then sank his fangs into her flesh with a mix of gentleness and desperation.
As he pulled back, he bit into his own arm, drawing blood. Sammy, watching in confusion, asked, "What are you doing?"
Gabriel put his blood in his mouth and then placed his lips on Annabelle's, transferring the life-saving liquid into her mouth. "Bring my wife back," he said with determination.
Annabelle began to have a seizure, her body convulsing violently. She started to vomit blood, and Gabriel quickly laid her on her side, gently moving her hair out of her face as she did so. It was agonizing for him to watch, but he knew it was necessary.
After several excruciating moments, Annabelle's body stilled. She lay unconscious in Gabriel's arms. He tenderly brushed her hair away from her face, and then, slowly, her eyes fluttered open. She reached up, placing a hand on Gabriel's cheek. He smiled joyfully through his tears, "Hey, love."
Annabelle, her voice soft but filled with relief, replied, "Hey."
She was immediately embraced by both Gabriel and Sammy, who were trembling with emotion. "I thought I lost you," Gabriel said, his voice choked with emotion.
Annabelle smiled, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "I'm not going anywhere," she promised. The three of them stayed in their embrace, finding solace in each other as the reality of their survival settled in.
Sammy smiled and wiped her tears, but their moment was interrupted by the sound of footsteps. Gabriel turned toward the noise, his expression tense. "Father." Annabelle and Sammy followed his gaze, seeing Lazaar approaching them with a predatory smile. As the trio stood up, Gabriel helped Annabelle to her feet and positioned himself protectively in front of them. Annabelle, in turn, stood in front of Sammy, facing Lazaar. "Lazaar."
Lazaar's smile widened, revealing his fangs. "I've gone by many names over the centuries," he said with a chuckle, continuing his approach. Gabriel stepped forward, his glare sharp. "Father, don't."
Lazaar's eyes flicked to Sammy, and he made a move toward her. Annabelle stood firm, blocking his path. "She helped bring my wife back to me," Gabriel said, his voice steady despite Lazaar's angry snap.
"Gabriel!" Lazaar's voice was thunderous, but Gabriel didn't flinch. "She brought her back," Gabriel repeated.
Lazaar's gaze moved from his son to the two women. He appeared in front of Annabelle in a blink, taking her hand and kissing it. "Welcome back, my dear, and welcome to the family." His smirk was unsettling before he turned to Sammy. "I suggest you leave now. It's getting awfully close to dinner time."
Fear flashed in Sammy's eyes as she looked at Annabelle, who gave her a comforting smile and hugged her. "It's okay, you can go." Annabelle's smile was reassuring.
Sammy, despite the confusion and fear, smiled back and started to leave. "What the fuck?" she muttered under her breath as she exited the manor, leaving the vampires behind.
Lazaar lingered for a moment before departing, leaving Gabriel and Annabelle alone in the quiet aftermath.
After Lazaar left, the oppressive tension that had filled the room began to dissipate. Gabriel turned to Annabelle, his eyes softening with a mixture of relief and love. He gently took her hand and guided her to a quiet corner of the library, away from the debris and chaos left from the battle.
They sat on a plush, timeworn sofa, Gabriel never once letting go of her hand. Annabelle could feel the weight of his concern, the intensity of his love in his touch. She smiled up at him, her eyes glistening with unshed tears of gratitude and happiness.
"Gabriel," she whispered, her voice tender.
He cupped her face in his hands, his thumb brushing away a stray tear. "I thought I lost you," he said, his voice breaking slightly. "I can't bear the thought of a world without you in it."
Annabelle leaned into his touch, closing her eyes for a moment to savor the warmth of his hands. When she opened them again, he reached necklace and pulled out a small, familiar object. It was hers and his wedding rings, glinting softly in the dim light.
Gabriel's eyes shone with emotion as he held his necklace, producing his wedding ring before he said, a tender smile curving his lips. "It was my reminder of you, my hope."
With careful, reverent movements, they each took the other's ring. Gabriel gently slid Annabelle's ring back onto her finger, the metal cool against her skin, but the gesture warming her heart. "With this ring," he murmured, "I promise to love you for eternity, to stand by your side no matter what comes."
Annabelle's hands trembled slightly as she took Gabriel's hand and placed his ring back on his finger. "With this ring," she echoed, her voice steady despite the tears in her eyes, "I promise to love you endlessly, to be your partner in all things, forever."
They leaned into each other, their foreheads touching, eyes closed as they took a moment to breathe in the closeness, the intimacy of the moment. The chaos around them faded into the background, leaving just the two of them, bound together by their unbreakable bond.
Gabriel finally lifted his head, pressing a soft kiss to Annabelle's lips. It was gentle and sweet, a promise of more to come. "I love you," he whispered against her lips.
"I love you too," Annabelle replied, her voice full of conviction and love.
They held each other close, their rings a symbol of their enduring love and the promise of a future they would face together, side by side.
