HOLLY PUT HER PHONE DOWN BEFORE TURNING TO FACE THE BRUNETTE IN FRONT OF HER. The two girls were seated on a picnic blanket, with various foods spread out in the blanket. Holly smiled at Calypso, saying, "This is really nice! I haven't been on a picnic in a while, I miss it."

"I'm glad you like it!" Calypso beamed with pride, "I put a lot of work into making this perfect for you."

Holly laughed, "You would've thought we were on a date with you saying that."

The two girls looked at each other silently, no one daring to say anything after Holly's comment.

"Not that I'm assuming your sexuality or anything." Holly added quickly, thinking that she'd made her friend uncomfortable.

"Nonono, it's fine! I mean, I don't really know, the only relationships I've had are the one I had with Percy when we were like 12 and my relationship with Leo! I haven't really given thought about women as an option.." Calypso looked down bashfully, "But anyway, what about you?" She lifted her head to look at the  hazel-eyed girl beside her.

Holly shrugs. "I really don't know yet. I mean, I know for a fact that I'm attracted to women but men on the other hand... I have no idea about that. So who knows? For now I just consider myself queer, because I know for a fact I am not straight."

"That's totally valid!" Calypso assured her.

Holly sighed, "It wasn't easy y'know, I really struggled with my sexuality for a while but now I think I've figured myself out for the most part and I think I'm more at peace then I've ever been"

Calypso gave her a supportive smile, "I'm happy to hear that!" Her smile dropped a little as she moved onto the next topic. "I do have a kinda weird question for you."

Holly nodded in response, "Go ahead!"

"Uh, you and Drew dated for a while, correct?" Calypso asked.

"Yeah."

"And of you don't mind sharing, how was your relationship?"

"Well if wasn't that bad, we had our moments but I think we went pretty well together. Drew would always know exactly what she wanted and I was always happy to give it to her." Holly explained.

"Now, this was your first relationship?"

"Yes, well technically my first relationship with a girl, my first relationship was with a boy named Gio in kindergarten, which is funny because last I heard of him was that he came out as gay, and I ended up figuring I was queer." Holly laughed at the irony of the situation.

"So you guys were each other's, what's the word.... beards?"

"Yeah, basically!" Holly let out another soft laugh.

Calypso didn't laugh, instead just smiled at Holly. "That's pretty funny, but back into the topic of Drew."

Holly paused to give Calypso an inquisitive look. "Why are you so obsessed with my ex? Don't tell me you have a crush on her!"

Calypso, who was in the middle of drinking water, was so surprised by Holly's claim that she choked on the little bit of water she had been drinking. She coughed for a few seconds, before finally relaxing and answering Holly's allegation. "What? No! I just want to know what happened between you guys because you never really said why."

Holly shrugged, "Well, we were going great but I think at some point we realized the relationship whist didn't have that spark anymore so I broke up with her."

Calypso still wasn't done quizzing her friend, "But why wasn't it working?"

"Because I was in love with someone else." Holly widened her eyes after realizing what she had said, it was almost like she wasn't intending to give that answer.

"Who?"

Holly glared at the brunette. "That's besides the point. You got your story, you happy?"

"Not quite, did you used to hate me?" Calypso wished she didn't have to be so invasive but it was the only way to fix things between her boyfriend and her best friend.

"Yes." Holly curtly answered.

"Why?"

"You were annoying and in love." Holly stated simply.

"But we became friends eventually."

"Yeah."

"So why can't the same thing happen for Leo?"

Holly rolled her eyes, "Because first of all, he's annoying. Second, he's not as funny as he thinks he is. And he's also stupid for believing in all that love at first sight shit."

"I had 2/3 of those qualities and we still became close though. What is it you're not telling me?" Calypso raised her eyebrows at the other girl.

"I've told you everything!" Holly protested.

Calypso knew her friend better than that, she could tell from Holly's expression that she was holding something back. "No you haven't."

"Yes I have."

"Holly, c'mon, I know you better than this." Calypso pleaded.

Holly stood up, her expression no longer playful, "Fine! You wanna know why Leo and I can never be friends? Well here it is: I was jealous of him, okay??"

"Holly-" Calypso started, but Holly was not listening anymore. She grabbed her bag and took out the bunny Calypso gave her.

Throwing the bunny onto the picnic blanket, Holly said, "Here, you can take your bunny back. Have a nice picnic."

Calypso could do nothing but watch as her friend walked away from her. It pained her heart but she believed that these means justified the ends. She now had gathered two pieces of information, that Holly was in love with someone else during her relationship with Drew and, she couldn't get along with Leo because she was jealous of him. Now there was only the problem of what to do with that information.
