CHAPTER SIX: GLARES AND BRUISES

ELYNA was walking down the corridors with Charles listening to him talk about tryouts that were taking place in a few days. She had not talked or seen Tom since last night when he yelled at her, and she was not expecting to see him. Elyna's fist clenches at the aching feeling on her arm and Tom's failure of apologizing to her. "Elyna? You alright?" Charles asks snapping her out of her thoughts

"Huh? Oh yeah I am perfectly fine" She quickly answers her friend with a small smile on her face. Charles glances down at her, breath stolen for a moment as the sun hit her face perfectly, giving the appearance of an angel. Elyna's eyebrows furrow at his sudden daze, feeling worry for her friend, "Charlie, are you alright?" eyes filled with worry, as she begins to slow her walk. 

Charles shakes his head, brown locks shaking as he nervously chuckles, "Sorry about that, I got lost in through all of a sudden. Back to you, are you sure you are alright? You seem a bit tired." he ask with concern.

"Yes Charles, I am fine, there is no need to worry. I was just thinking about try outs is all" Elyna reassures her friend, quick to change the subject. She really was not okay especially with the whole Tom incident and on top of that, she woke up feeling terrible. Her birthmark was throbbing and the bruises that Tom left, failed to heal themselves like they usually do. You see, when a person who possesses light magic become injured, their body is quick to heal themselves but this time it lacked to do that. When Elyna had seen the bruises this morning, she was shocked at the lack of healing and the fact that Tom had grabbed her so harshly, she hadn't even recognized that the boy had such strength to him. 

"You have nothing to worry about you are an amazing seeker and for the first time ever, I actually envy Abraxas for having you on his team" Charles rolls his eyes, dramatically throwing himself over Elyna. "Please dear Ellie, join the Gryffindor team" He cries out, faking a cry to convince Elyna to switch. 

"I would not be a good Gryffindor" Elyna mutters, a cold shiver running up her spine at the thought, thinking of what her family would do to her if she were a Gryffindor. Thank Merlin, the hat put her with Slytherin. 

" You are right not just anyone can pull off red and yellow" Charles smirks, puffing his chest and showing off the Gryffindor colors.  Elyna was quick to smack his chest, mocking an offended gasp, "I'll have you know red looks magnificent on me!" Elyna shouts at the boy, flicking her hair, smirking when it hit him in the face. 

"She's right, my Nina looks absolutely ravishing in red as well as pastel blue, royal blue, purples for sure..." Orion Black suddenly appears behind them with a charming smirk on his face and still listing colors that look good on Elyna. 

"And how would you know Black?" Charles asks with a frown, almost disgusted as he stares at the boy who finally finished listing all of the colors that Elyna supposedly looked good in

"Me and Elyna have known each other since we were babies so she's always around my house for dinners, playdates, and balls!" Orion exclaims slinging an arm around Elyna who rolls her eyes, "It was truly a nightmare" she states, ignoring the pained gasp from Orion, "Do not lie, my dear Nina, you enjoyed our playdates" Orion smiles, towering over the small girl who glares up at him, trapped beneath his arm. 'Whatever, Black" his arm being pushed off of her from an invisible force.

Elyna sighs as she listens to the two boys fight back and forth as they walk to their shared class, charms. Luckily, there were no assigned seats in the class unfortunately Orion Black raced to the open seat next to Elyna as soon as he saw it, meaning they were partners for the rest of the year. Orion himself was quite excited to be sitting so near his long-time crush, Elyna, and even more excited that she wasn't as irritated about it than he thought. As they walk to their seats, Elyna spots Tom and Abraxas who was seducing yet another girl causing Elyna to roll her eyes at the white-haired boy. You could say Malfoy was a womanizer with his good looks it was hard to resist the boy. 

"Where is Ingrid?" Charles asks furrowing his eyebrows as he sits down at the table that him and Ingrid shared, Orion and Elyna sitting at the table in front of theirs. Elyna frowns, confused at the absence of the girl, "I'm not sure, last time I saw her she was hanging around James Bartley" Elyna tells Charles who shrugs his shoulders and pulls out a quidditch book, the explanation enough for him. 

"Are you ready for try outs? They're in a few days" Orion asks from beside Elyna who takes out her parchment and quills from her bag, trying to prep for the class. Her eyes brighten at the thought of quidditch, she enjoyed the sport because of how exhilarating it was. She quickly turns to face Orion, a large smile spreading across her face, "I'm ready for them, are you?" She smiles, glancing up at Orion who was staring at her with a small smile on his face. 

"Of course I am! Me and Abraxas are the best beaters on the team! And you're the best seeker that Hogwarts has!" Orion exclaims seeming extremely excited for quidditch try outs, Elyna giggles, "You and Abraxas are really good beaters. You two are probably the best duo I've seen play so well together. " Elyna compliments the two watching as Orion face turns a deep red at the compliment. 

"Thanks!" He smiles widely his cheeks pink as he takes in the unexpected compliment. It wasn't like he never got complimented by other girls, he got many compliments from other girls but never from Elyna. Her compliments were the best to him, and they always made his stomach flutter with butterflies. As Orion was repeating her compliment over and over in his head, Elyna leans in to whisper with a mischievous smirk, "And between me and you, I am so ready to beat the Gryffindors" She whispers glancing towards Charles with bright eyes. Orion bumps her shoulder, "Oh, we will, there is no doubt about it. That cup is ours" He smirks, heart beating a bit faster at their interaction. He was absolutely smitten with the blonde girl beside him, repeating their whole interaction a few times in his head. 

Elyna smiles, looking towards the front where Tom sat with his back straight and his face twisted into a fake facade as he speaks with the professor. She glares at the back of his head, cursing him in her head for bruising her arm that was healing way slower than normal. It wasn't the fact that he bruised her arm it was the fact that he yelled at her, bruised her arm, and then left without apologizing. He was being quite rude, and all Elyna wanted was an apology and she would forget about everything else. 

Tom glances behind him feeling someone drilling holes into his head and meets the icy glare of Elyna Achard. His face twist into a frown, glaring at the girl before turning back around, catching sight of her bruising arm. Once he was turned around from Elyna could he feel himself feel a bit bad about her bruised arm. Before he could think further about it, he catches himself feeling guilty for something he shouldn't and quickly shakes his head of those feelings and thoughts. He straightens himself up and smiles widely at the charm's teacher, Mr. Quinn, who stood at the front of the classroom.

"Welcome students! Today we will be learning something new for our project..."

Elyna listens closely to what Mr. Quinn says writing down what he was saying on her piece of parchment. She briefly became distracted when Orion started playing with her hair sending him a glare before returning her attention to Mr. Quinn who was writing down what they needed. She didn't have time to be annoyed about Orion playing with her hair and instead processes all of the information that Mr. Quinn gave them about their project.

"The person next to you will be your partner for the project!" Mr. Quinn smiles and starts passing out papers about their project

Orion smiles widely at Lilith who turns to him with an annoyed look on her face.

"Hey partner.." he smirks
