THE next day Lillian was sitting with Elijah as Michelle and Jade decided to sit with Peter and Ned during gym class. Jade slowly noticed how Elijah was pulling Lillian away from her friends and so did Michelle. As Ned and Michelle were talking about homecoming and who was possibly taking who, Jade noticed an irritated Peter glancing over at Elijah.

Jade nudged Peter discreetly so Michelle and Ned wouldn't notice. "What's up with you, grouchy?" She asked softly for only him to hear.

"Dah- N-Nothing." Peter shook his head, "I'm good."

"Sure, Parker." Jade playfully rolled her eyes. "Might as well just tell me or i'll figure it out myself, and I'm pretty sure I already know."

Peter's eyebrows furrowed as he look at her taken aback, "Know what?"

"You like my best friend don't you? That's why you keep glaring at Elijah." Jade smirked teasingly.

He shook his head, "No, no. I just don't trust the guy, is all." He defended.

Jade sighed in disappointment as she knew he was lying about liking Lillian, "I don't trust him either." She said instead.

"I hate the guy." Michelle added as she sat beside Jade.

Ned sat beside Peter as he let out a chuckle, "Are we talking about Elijah? Oh, you should've seen Peter earlier when he saw him and Lilly holding hands-"

Peter rolled his eyes, cutting Ned's sentence short, "Ned's thinking of wearing his fedora hat to homecoming." He spat out to change the subject.

"Really?" Jade asked Ned as he nodded his head gleefully with a big smile.

"Good for you." Michelle said giving Ned an encouraging thumbs up. "So, Peter..." she crossed her arms as Jade and Ned looked at Peter. "You like Lillian, what's the big deal?"

"I-I don't. Its too- I thought everyone knew I that I like Liz?" Peter stammered out his words slightly.

Jade placed a hand on Peter's shoulder, "If I'm being honest Parker, Liz is way out of your league." She said truthfully as Michelle nodded in agreement.

Peter scoffed, "And Lilly's not?"

"Oh, no. We're not saying that. They're both out of your league, don't get me wrong." Michelle said as she shook her head and then shrugged. "We just think you have a better chance with Lilly than with Liz." She pointed out as Ned also agreed.

Peter shook his head, "Lilly and I are just friends. She has a boyfriend you guys." He said as they all turned to look at Lillian smiling happily as she laughed with Elijah.

"But that could be you, dude." Ned nudged Peter.

"Can we let it go? Lilly's happy with Elijah and I'm asking Liz out for homecoming, so I'm gonna be happy with Liz." Peter stated as Jade rolled her eyes in response.

"She'd be happier with you." Jade muttered as she picked at her chipped nail polish.

"What?"

Jade hummed in response, looking up at Peter, "Good luck... with Liz." She forced a smile as the bell rang. "Oh will you look at that! It's time to go. Let's go MJ, we don't wanna miss our next class." Jade rushed out as she grabbed onto Michelle's hand, dragging her along with her before Peter could say anything.

...

LILLIAN walked out of her apartment locking the door after her as she turned to see a gloomy Peter in a baggy 'I survived my trip to NYC' shirt and a pink Hello Kitty pajama pants heading to his apartment with his head hung low. "Peter?" Lillian asked softly as her face softened in concern.

Peter looks up at Lillian with his big doe eyes, "Hey..." He breathed out as he gave her a closed lipped smile.

"Are you okay?" She asked as she looked over his outfit. "You look like you got mugged."

Peter let out a dry chuckle, "I'm fine. No need to worry about me. Go to wherever you're going to." He tried to reassure her as he motioned her off to go.

Lillian shook her head dismissively, "No. Eli can wait. Peter, what's wrong? Did something happen with Liz?"

Peter shook his head in response as he watched how Lillian's face softened even more in concern as her eyebrows furrowed.

"Peter, you can tell me. You can't keep pushing me away like you did when we first started high school." She said softly.

"I lost the Stark internship." He said in disappointment as his voice broke slightly.

"W-What?" Lillian breathed out in shock as her phone rang. She rolled her eyes in annoyance at the wrong timing of her phone ringing as she pulled her phone out of the pocket of her jean jacket. "It's Eli... I'll cancel-"

"No, you should go with him." Peter cleared his throat, "We can talk later."

"Pete... I-I can't just leave you like that."

"You can't leave Elijah like that either." Peter deadpanned, going to his door. "Just go. I'll be fine."

"O-Okay." Lillian nodded hesitantly as Peter knocked on the door whilst the door soon opened, revealing a relieved, yet worried aunt May.

Peter looked over at an upset Lillian before going inside. He shut the door after himself as he mentally prepared himself for May's lecture. Lillian was already in the elevator at this point, trying to hold in her tears.

She took a deep breath as she recollected herself whilst the elevator doors opened. She walked out, seeing Elijah with a concerned expression written on his face. He gives her a comforting hug as she sighed, wanting to go back upstairs with Peter.

"You okay?" Elijah asked, running a comforting hand through Lillian's hair.

She slightly shrugged him off, pushing her hair behind her ear. "Everything's fine. Let's... uh go, shall we?" She gives him a forceful smile as she started walking out.

Elijah shook his head, catching up to Lillian as he ran in front of her to stop her from walking any further. "Did something happen?" He asked once more as grabbed a hold of her hands in reassurance.

"Eli, it's fine. Just drop it... Please?" She asked giving him pleading eyes.

He stared at her, "Was it Peter?" He asked.

Lillian's eyes narrowed at his response, "No. Why would you assume that?" She asked softly as she felt offended by his comment.

Elijah shook his head, "I'm only assuming because he lives across from you and I saw him go up before I called you." He shrugged.

Lillian rolled her eyes, "Well, it wasn't Peter. So you have nothing to worry about." She gave him a tight lipped smiled.

Elijah sighed, "Alright, but I'm here if anything happens. You know that right?" He said softly as he placed a gentle kiss against her forehead.

She nodded, "Y-Yeah of course." She smiled, looking up at him as her mind wondered about Peter. After seeing Peter like that, Lillian wanted to stay with him and comfort him, but she also knew that she shouldn't ditch her boyfriend like that either. "Actually..." She started off as she took a small step back.

Elijah eyebrows furrowed, "What's wrong?" He asked.

Lillian shook her head, "You know what, never mind." She chuckled lightly.

Elijah let out a sigh, "No, what were you going to say?"

"Um..." Lillian paused, rethinking her choice of words, "I was gonna ask if we could just get some ice cream instead?" Her nose scrunched up in embarrassment as she thought of the quickest lie she could think of.

Elijah nodded his head slowly, "Yeah we can do that." He smiled in relief as he threw his arm around her shoulder, making their way to a diner. As they entered the diner, they ordered their ice cream and talked the night away. Lillian still thought about Peter, but tried her best to focus her time with Elijah. She wanted to make sure Peter was okay, but she'll just have to wait till tomorrow.
