PETER sighed as he paced back and forth in his room as he contemplated his thoughts. Lillian sat on his bed as she rolled her eyes seeing that Peter was in this state for a good ten minutes. Every once in awhile Peter would open his mouth to say something, but soon close it and continue his nervous pacing. Lillian then sighed, pulling out her phone from her back pocket and playing whatever game that she had on her phone as she waited for Peter to finally say something.

"Tomorrow is homecoming." Peter breathed out in realization as he sat next to Lillian.

She looked up from her phone, narrowing her eyes at Peter. "Mhmm, and you're taking Liz." She pointed out as she went back to her phone.

Peter chuckled softly in disbelief as he nodded, not being able to believe that he finally had the guts to ask her to homecoming. Although he felt like he asked the wrong girl.

"Hey, Pete?" Lillian spoke up as she set down her phone.

Peter turned to face Lillian as he hummed in response, patiently waiting for her to speak up. She shook her head as she let out a sigh, "Come with me." She softly said as she grabbed his hand in hers, leading him to her 'quiet' place. Once they made it there, she leaned her elbows against the edge of the brick wall. "No one really know about this place. Well," She shrugged, "except my mom, Spider-Man, and now you." She stated.

Peter walked beside her hesitantly as he choked on his words, "N-Not even Jade?" He questions as turned his attention toward her.

She shook her head, "Nope. Just me." She chuckled lightly. "Ever since Elijah happened, I've been coming up here more often." She stated as Peter listened to her intently. "I, uh... only come up here to get my mind off things and think." She shrugs, "It's my-"

"-your escape from the world. I know." Peter said softly as he looked down at the ground, nodding slowly.

Lillian's eyes narrowed at Peter in confusion, "H-How did you?.." her face softened once she puts the pieces together.

"Um, what? I-" Peter turned his attention back to Lillian, only to see her staring back at him already, "Uh, why are you staring at me like tha-?"

"It's you. Isn't it?' Lillian questioned softly in disbelief.

Peter shook his head, "W-What? What are you talking about?"

"The only person that knows the reason why I come up here is-is Spider-Man." Lillian pointed out.

"H-He told me?" He stated more as a question.

"He told you?" She asked him as he nodded hesitantly. "When did he tell you? Before or after you lost your fake internship?" Lillian crossed her arms as everything with Peter started making sense.

"W-What?" Peter laughed nervously as he tripped over his own feet whilst turning to face her.

Lillian rolled her eyes, "Peter, I know about the internship. I looked it up and there was nothing. Unless, Mr. Stark likes to keep his internships private for some reason?"

"Lills, w-wha-" He breathed out as her eyes narrowed at him, "O-Okay, the internship is fake, but I-I do work for Mr. Stark." He nervously stated.

Lillian nodded, "Uh huh." She responded, waiting for his full answer as she motioned him to keep talking.

Peter stood there all choked up, not knowing what to do or say. "Okay, don't be mad." He spoke softly.

"Why would I be mad?" Lillian asked as she watched Peter cautiously.

"B-Because... I'm S-Spider-Man?" He told her as he let out a nervous chuckle.

"I knew it." She said softly as she shook her head, throwing Peter off guard.

"Wait- What?"

Lillian rolled her eyes playfully, "You're terrible at keeping secrets, Peter." She chuckled lightly, giving him a soft lopsided smile.

He nodded, "You'd be surprised." He joked as they both stared at the view in front of them.

"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked as she raised her head up to meet his piercing gaze.

"I didn't want you to worry." He whispered softly.

Lillian scoffed lightly, "Peter, I'm always gonna worry." She whispered softly as she placed her hand on top of his gently.

Peter chuckled as he nodded whilst looking down at their hands, "Yeah, I figured." He looked back up at Lillian as he gave her a soft smile.

Lillian smiled as she let out a sigh whilst pulling her hand away, facing away from Peter, "So, who else knows?" She asked curiously as she twiddled her thumbs.

"Just Ned. Please don't tell May-"

"I won't. It's your secret to tell, Peter. You'll tell her when you're ready." She said softly, her gaze meeting with Peter's soft brown ones as they both grew silent. Lillian clears her throat to break the silence, "So... are you nervous about tomorrow night?" She asked as she looked back at the view in front of her.

"Y-Yeah." He breathed out as he crossed his arms against the edge of the brick wall. "What about you?"

Lillian blew a raspberry, "Honestly, yeah. I know I'm going to be surrounded by friends and all, but its just- I don't want to bump into Elijah. Y'know?" She spoke softly not taking her eyes off the sun starting to set. "Which is going to be hard because I go to school with him, so..." She laughed lightly.

"Well if anything happens, you got Jade, MJ, Ned, and I to have your back." He smiled as he nudged her playfully.

Lillian rolled her eyes playfully, looking back at Peter, "I know." She chuckled, "Thank you."

"No problem." He said as he scratched the back of his neck nervously, "Um, I hope this isn't weird to ask," He started off as Lillian looked at him intently, "but uh... d-do you think you could teach me how to slow dance? A-Aunt May already tried teaching me, but-"

Lillian let out a small laugh, cutting Peter's rambling short, "Yeah I'll teach you." She smiled as she grabbed a hold of Peter's hand, guiding his hands around her waist.

Peter became nervous as he slid his hands around her mid-back, "I-Is this fine?" He asked.

"Pete, your hands are on my back." She laughed softly pulling his hands on her hips, "There." She whispered as her hands snaked around his neck. She nervously cleared her throat as she took little steps closer to him, "Now we just sway." She whispered softly as she raised her head up to meet Peter's doe eyes, feeling butterflies erupt in her stomach.

Peter started to slowly sway back and forth with Lillian, "L-Like this?" He asked unsure of himself as his gaze exchange in between his feet and Lillian's eyes.

"Y-Yeah." She said as she pushed her uncertain feelings to the side. "Peter, can I ask you something?"

He nodded, "Yeah." He said as he fought the urge to take another step closer to her.

"Do you think that the people we fall for are the right one for us?" Lillian questioned as she gazed into Peter's eyes, trying to find the answer in them.

"I don't know. I'd like to think so." He shrugged as he kept his eye contact with Lillian.

"But what if you fell for the wrong person?"

"Then-"

"What if the person you fell for isn't even the right person for you? What if you genuinely thought that that person was the one for you and you just created this perfect version of who you wanted them to be and then that's the reason why you fell for them?" Lillian rambled as tears started forming in her eyes.

"Lills, what are you talking about?" Peter asked, his voice dripping with concern, placing his hands gently on her cheeks as his thumbs were ready to wipe away her stray tears. "Is this about Elijah?" He asked softly as she nodded, resting her forehead against his whilst her hands held onto his. "Don't blame yourself for falling for him, Lills. He was manipulative, okay? It's not your fault." He reassured her as he gently caressed her cheek.

She looked up at him, "What if it is?" She shrugged, trying her best to not believe her thoughts.

He shook his head, "It's not." He said softly as he curled up his pointer finger, placing it underneath her chin whilst lifting it up to have her meet his piercing gaze. His free hand pushing the hair that fell on her face back behind her ear as he slowly leaned in. Lillian's eyes flutter shut as Peter's face was only a few centimeters away.

She sighed, resting her forehead against his shoulder. "No, Peter." She whispered softly as she raised her head back up to meet a confused Peter. "You got Liz." She gave him a small forceful smile. She stepped back, giving Peter's hand a small squeeze, "I-I should go." She spoke softly, letting go of his hand as she left a conflicted Peter.

Once she left, Peter ran his hands over his face in slight frustration with his mixed feelings toward Lillian. He sunk down to the ground, resting his head against the wall whilst in deep thought. Letting Lillian's words sink in, he started realizing that maybe Ned was right. What if Liz isn't the one for him? What if, according to Ned, Liz isn't his soulmate?
