021.

Marty is still trying to get the car restarted. Darleen watches—her hands clasped together in anticipation. The alarm clock then rings, "Shit!" The two say in unison before the engine roars to life. Marty switches the time circuits on and the various indicators light up. Marty puts the car back into gear before slamming on the gas pedal. The DeLorean peels out.

——

Doc looks at the two cables in his hand and the loose end below. Suddenly, he realizes what to do. He ties the two cables tightly together—then plugs them in. The DeLorean accelerates. The speedometer passes 40. Doc tests the tied connected cable ends to make sure they won't come apart—they're secure. He takes a deep breath—then grips the line tightly—he jumps. Doc slides down the cable before he drops down to the ground—he runs with cable towards the lamp post. The DeLorean approaches the square. Marty drives with determination. The speedometer passes 65.

——

Doc gets to the plug end of the cable. It's dislodged from the tree limb, so he has enough slack. He races to the lamp post and the dangling socket. The DeLorean keeps accelerating—the speedometer hits 88. A bolt of lightning strikes the lightning rod. The connecting cable becomes electrified. The DeLorean passes under the cable between the lamp posts. The trolley hook on the DeLorean makes contact with the electrified cable—the flux capacitor glows and discharges. The Delorean's rime coils light up and the vehicle is sent back... to the future!

——

The storm dissolves away into an ordinary night sky. The clock tower shows 30 years of age. Hill Valley square is quiet—it's late. A homeless man is asleep on a bench before a flash of light wakes him along with a sharp gust of wind. He awakens as he hears a loud crash. There is a big hole of what used to be the theater and suddenly the DeLorean is back on the street. The homeless man shakes his head, "Crazy drunk driver." He goes back to sleep.

Marty looks at the readouts. "Present Time" now matches "Destination Time" at October 25th 1985, 1:24 A.M. "Last Time Departed" is now November 5th, 1955; 10:04 P.M. The two teens are delighted, "All right!" Marty exclaims as Darleen squeals with joy. Marty turns on the car radio and a contemporary rock tune plays. Marty goes to put the car into forward gear—but the engine dies. "Aw shit!" Marty yells as Darleen groans, he tries to start it again—but it won't turn over.

"Come on, come on..." Marty says before he looks up and out the windshield he sees the terrorist van cruising down the street and around the corner. Marty is horrified. "The terrorists!" He exclaims and Darleens' eyes widen with fear. Marty tries the car one more time, "Damn, it's frozen!" The two get out of the car and run like hell—Marty holding Darleen's hand so that she can keep up with him.

——

As the two arrive at the mall. Marty keeps running past the sign that now says "LONE PINE MALL" as Darleen begins to trip over her own feet. Marty stops in the parking lot as Darleen grips onto his arm to steady herself. About a good 150 yards away, the two watch as they see their younger selfs frozen in horror at the sight of the terrorists chasing Doc. The two teens are horrified yet amazed at the sight. Martys' hand goes up to his head, "Oh, God, no! I'm too late!" Darleen feels tears pricking at her eyes but she blinks them away to comfort Marty.

The terrorist leans out of the van with a machine gun and blasts Doc in the chest. He goes down instantly. Everything is already as it happened. "Oh no!" Marty yells—Darleen hides her face in Martys' shoulder. Just as before—Marty and Darleen dive into the DeLorean and roar off. The two teens watch themselves chased by terrorists. The terrorist van crashes in the distance as the DeLorean disappears in white light. Marty sees Doc and begins running to him with Darleen behind him.

They reach him along with Einstein. Marty turns Doc over, tears in his eyes. "Doc, Doc..." Darleen places a hand over her mouth to hold back a sob. Suddenly—Doc opens his eyes and smiles. "You're alive!" Marty exclaims. Doc stands, "Of course I'm alive." Marty stumbles over his words, "But you were shot—I saw it! I saw it twice!" Doc rips open his radiation suit revealing a bullet proof vest. "It's the latest fashion in personal protection. It'll stop a slug from an elephant rifle at 30 yards.

Darleens' brows quirk as she stands next to Marty, "But—how did you know?" She asks. Doc smiles and reaches into his pocket and pulls out the letter that Marty wrote now scotch taped together. It's yellow and brittle—showing how old it is. Marty smiles and shakes his head, "After all that lecturing about screwing up future events and the space time continuum..." Doc shrugs, "Yeah, well, I figured—what the hell?" Approaching police sirens are heard in the distance.

——

The DeLorean pulls up to Darleens' house—it has stayed the same. Doc is driving while Marty and Darleen are in the passenger seat. Einstein is in the back. Marty opens the gull wing door—Darleen steps out and so does Marty. He walks her to the front door before stopping. The two look at each other, small smiles on their faces. "So..." Marty says before Darleen goes to speak, "Um, this was quite the day or—days?" The two chuckle at her words before they go quiet again. "You know, um—do you wanna go out? Like—sometime tomorrow?" Marty asks. Darleen smiles, "I would love to, but what about Jennifer?" Marty scratches the back of his neck, "Um, well—remember that phone call she made?" Darleen nodded, "It was about us breaking up." Darleens' eyes widened as her brows raised, "Sorry about that Marty." The teen shakes his head, "It's okay—I'm just glad that now I can find someone better." Darleen laughs softly before placing a quick kiss on Marty's cheek, "Goodnight Marty."

She goes inside before Marty can respond. The teen replies with a soft, "Goodnight." Before he walked back to the DeLorean to go to his own home. Doc gives Marty a knowing look with a smile, "So, you two going together now?" Marty gives him a shy smile, "Yeah, I think so."

——

The DeLorean pulls up to a darkened house. The passenger door opens and Marty gets out. Einstein takes his seat. Marty turns to talk to Doc. "So, how far ahead are you going?" Doc shrugs, "I figure I'll take it slow at first... go about 30 years, just to get my feet wet. Then maybe see what's shaking in the 22nd or 23rd century." Marty nods, "Well, good luck.. and if you get a chance, search me up—and maybe Darleen. We'll be 47 years old." Doc nods, "I will. Funny, I had to wait 30 years to catch up with you, now you've gotta wait 30 years to catch up with me. Ain't life weird?" Doc gives him a wink before Marty closes the door.

——

Marty is on top of his bed—asleep in his clothes from the day before. Morning light streams in through the bedroom window. He stirs and opens his eyes. He sits up and looks around—his room is the same. He gets out of bed and looks in the mirror—he pinches himself to make sure he's real—he is. He reaches into his waste can and pulls out the submission form to the record company—he looks at it then decisively pulls the cassette tape out of his drawer and puts it in the envelope with the form.

——

Marty comes out of his room with the envelope in hand. He goes down the hall and stops short as he enters. Linda and Dave are seated at the dining room table which has been set beautifully for breakfast. Dave is wearing an expensive tailored suit—he reads Forbes magazine. "Hey, Linda. I'm not your answering service. Somebody named Greg or Craig called you a little while ago." Linda furrows her brows, "Well, was it Greg or Craig?" Dave shrugs, "I don't know. I can't keep track of all your boyfriends."

"What the hell is this?" Marty asks, interjecting into the conversation. "Breakfast. What happened—did you sleep in you clothes again—is it cause of Jennifer?" Linda asks. Marty ignores her words and looks at Dave, "Dave, what are you wearing? Aren't you working today?" Dave nods, "Yeah, I always work on Saturdays." Marty narrows his eyes, "Then what's with the suit?" Dave responds with a confused look, "What else would I wear to the office? Are you alright Marty?"

Marty nods, "Yeah..." George and Lorraine now enter the house. They're tanned and healthy and dressed in tasteful clothing. George now carries himself with an air of confidence and Lorraine looks terrific. This is a happy marriage. Marty can't believe how good his mother looks, "Mom! You look—thin! I mean, you look great!" Lorraine smile, "Why, thank you Marty. Say, tonights the big night, right? You finally asked Darleen on a date for today. I just knew you two would end up together." Marty can't believe it's his mother talking.

"Um, pardon me—Ma?" Lorraine doesn't hear him, "What are you two doing tonight? Going up to the lake? You know, I like Darleen much better than Jennifer Parker—can't believe that she broke up with you over the phone after she cheated on you. But, never mind that, back to your date." Marty shakes his head, "Mom, we've been over this last night. How can I go if dad's car's wrecked?" George comes over quickly, "Wrecked? There's nothing wrong with my car. In fact, Biff should be out there waxing it right now."

——

Biff is in the driveway—waxing a new BMW. Biff is working diligently. His rough edges and arrogance are gone. "Hey Biff! Don't forget—two coats of wax this time." George instructs from the front door. Biff nods as he replies, "I'm finishing up the second coat now." George places his hands on his hips, "Now Biff, don't try to con me." Biff straightens up, "Uh, oh—I mean I was just about to start on the second coat."

——

Marty is absolutely astonished. George sits back down, "What a character. Always trying to get away with something. Some employees will get away with murder if you don't keep an eye on 'em. I've had to keep him in line since high school." Lorraine looks at George, "Now George, if it wasn't for Biff we wouldn't have gotten married." Linda speaks from the table, "Yeah mom, you've told us a million times. Dad beat him up when he was bothering you and that's how the two of you fell in love at the "Fish Under The Sea" dance." Marty at last understands what's going on.

"No. It was the "Enchantment Under The Sea Dance." Lorraine nods, "That's right, your father literally came to my rescue." She sighs, "It was so romantic!" Linda rolls her eyes, "Cornball city." Biff enters the home—a hardcover book in his hand—he gives it to George. "Oh, Mr. McFly. This just came in, it's the cover artwork for your novel." The book is a novel called, "A MATCH MADE IN SPACE" and the cover shows a bedroom with two space aliens talking with a couple in bed—very reminiscent of Marty and Darleen's "Darth Vader and T-800" visitation to George.

The authors name, "GEORGE MCFLY," is in bold letters "It's my first novel, I hope it sells." George says. Lorraine smiles, "Of course it'll sell, dear. After all—you've been selling stories ever since college." Dave nods, "That's right dad. Where's that positive attitude of yours?" George sighs, "Sure. This book is gonna do just fine." He looks at Marty, "And where's that envelope of yours Marty? I want to mail it for you." He picks up the envelope, "This is gonna do just fine too." Marty nods, "I hope so." George smiles at him, "Confidence Marty. Like I've always told you, if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything."

Biff holds up keys to Marty, "Oh—Marty—here are your keys. You're all set for tonight." Marty looks at the keys, "My keys?"

——

Marty comes out of his house and opens the garage door, only to see a tricked out black Toyota 4X4. Marty can't believe it. As he approaches it—he hears someone behind him. "Sweet ride." He turns and sees Darleen. She's wearing the same clothes from yesterday, Marty smiles at her. Without warning, he hugs her spinning her in a circle as he did, "Am I glad you're here." He says to her. Darleen chuckles—pushing his hair out of his eyes as she did. Marty looks back at his home and sees George and Lorraine with their arms around each other.

He looks back at Darleen and just as he leans in to kiss her—a sonic boom comes from the sky. The DeLorean streaks up to the house and Doc jumps out—his eyes wild and frantic. His clothes are a bizarre mixture of the future and past. He looks at the two teens and runs up to them, "Marty, Darleen! You've two got to come with me, back to the future!" Marty motions to his car, "Doc, I was gonna try out my new wheels." Doc shakes his head, "You'll have to wait." He opens the passenger door and the teens approach carefully.

Doc goes to the back of the DeLorean and pours a bottle of beer into an opening labelled "Westinghouse Mr. Fusion Home Energy Converter." Doc speaks to no one in particular, "I need fuel." Darleen shakes her head, "What do you mean? What happened?" The new couple looks at each other in alarm, "Does something happen? Do we turn into assholes or something?" Marty asks. Doc shakes his head, "No, you and Darleen turn out fine. But your kids—you gotta do something about your kids!"

Doc gets back into the DeLorean. Marty gets in and Darleen sits on his lap before she closes the door. "Okay, here we go..." Doc says. "You'd better back this thing up Doc. We haven't got enough road to get up to 88." Marty warns—Darleen nods in agreement to his words. Doc looks at the two teens before he places his silver glasses on, "Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads." Doc hits a new switch on the dashboard.

The DeLorean speeds down the street—then blasts off into the sky like a streak. Once again the coils glow and the DeLorean is enveloped in a white glow before it disappears into the future...
