[Somethin' stupid] - [Frank sinatra, Nancy sinatra]

Their getaway was filled with laughter and heart-to-heart conversations. They explored quaint cafes, shared stories of their past, and reveled in the joy of being together.

A particularly amusing moment occurred when they attempted to go paddleboarding on the river, resulting in a series of comical falls and splashes. Sora, not used to such adventurous endeavors, ended up soaking wet, eliciting uncontrollable laughter from both of them.

Watching the sunset from the comfort of Jay's car, with her head resting on his shoulder, was the best thing Sora could have ever wished for. In that moment, they both felt at ease in each other's presence.

Curious, Sora inquired, "Who is Jihyuk?" Jay's demeanor shifted, a chill running through him as haunting memories surfaced.

"My mom told you, didn't she?" he uttered.

"It doesn't matter who did. I thought you trusted me,"

"I do, but it's a topic we rarely discuss." Jay hesitated, revealing a painful chapter of his past. "When I was nine and my brother fifteen, we had a strong bond. However, one day, my dad went berserk because Jihyuk refused to be his successor. The hitting started, and what adds to my guilt is that whenever Dad got angry at me, he took the hits. I felt my brother drifting away. He came home late, red-eyed and stoned. I found drugs in his room, tried to stop him, but one day, I found him lifeless—overdose, an apparent suicide. It feels like my fault now that I reflect on it."

Sora hugged Jay, whispering, "It's not your fault, Jay. You were just a young boy."

In the warmth of Sora's embrace, Jay let the painful memories unfold, sharing the heavy burden he had carried for years. Sora whispered reassuring words, understanding that the scars of the past weighed heavily on his soul. Together, they navigated the shadows of Jay's history.

After a while, curiosity got the better of Sora, and she decided to turn on her phone, searching Jay's name on Google. A flood of articles appeared, and she read one out loud: "A great scandal - Jay and his infamous lover are out on a lover getaway. Did they run away?" She burst into laughter when she saw the picture of her holding up the middle finger.

"No way they just put that picture," Jay remarked.

"I'm glad they did. They can fuck off. This wouldn't have happened if they knew how to respect privacy," she responded.

"So...italy , it's a nice place you know."

Sora looked down, contemplating. "I don't know, really. It's nice, but the city needs me."

"What are you, Batman?" Jay teased.

Sora giggled. "Not the time for your dad jokes, Jay." After a pause, she added, "I don't think I can just run away like that and leave my family behind. Running away is nice, but I'm afraid I won't be able to come back."

"Please just think about it," Jay requested, acknowledging the complexity of the situation. The weight of their decisions hung in the air as they continued to watch the sun dip below the horizon.

"I-" Sora began, but her sentence was abruptly cut off by the ringing of her phone. Jay sighed, knowing that she had to answer it, especially when she saw it was her mom calling.

Taking the call, she brought the phone close to her ear but had to push it away due to her mom's loud screams. Stepping a bit further away from Jay, she tried to calm her mom down.

"Mom, calm down. I can't hear you like this, you know."

"Jung Sora, if you don't come home this instant, I will cut you off the family tree. I won't even let you see your brother's children," her mom threatened.

"He's still 17 go easy on him," Sora retorted.

"Don't change the subject. What has gotten into you? Did puberty come late? I mean, I found it weird when girls your age went through a goth phase, but yours was just studying. But you, foolish girl, you're mature, so do not ruin your life."

"Ruin my life by choosing my own path? By wanting to escape? I might or might not move to Italy with Jay," Sora asserted.

"Don't you dare!" her mom exclaimed. Sora then heard a loud gasp in the background; it was definitely her father.

She also heard him demanding, "Where are my cigarettes, Seunghan? Give them to me!" Her heart sank at her father's words, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Sora heard her mom sigh loudly on the phone. "This is why I told you not to commit anything foolish. Your dad is going crazy because of you. So, this is my last warning, Jung Sora. Go back to Seoul and go back to your work. I worked hard for you to succeed. You can't just drop everything for a man you've known for how much? Five months? This isn't like you. You're going to ruin both of your lives, Sora."

"Time doesn't matter, but feelings do,"

"Did it also matter with Felix? They're all the same, Sora. He's going to abandon you the minute he grows bored of you, and you'll be stuck in Europe with no way back. So, refuse and come back home," her mom warned, expressing deep concern for her daughter's future.

As the darkness enveloped them, Sora's tears glistened in the dim light. Her body trembled with the weight of emotions, and Jay, hoping to offer comfort, approached to hug her from behind. Yet, his attempt at solace was met with a forceful push.

"Stop it, you're disgusting me," she declared, the words cutting through the night. Jay felt his heart shatter into pieces, the pain palpable in the air.

"No, no, no. You're just confused. Come on, I'll take you somewhere calmer," he pleaded, desperation in his voice.

"Drop the fucking act, Jay. It's not just about the place; it's about us. We can never work out. Since day one, it wasn't meant to be, and you know it." The raw intensity of her words hung heavily in the air, echoing the harsh reality they were both forced to confront.

In the shadow of the darkened hill, Jay poured his heart out. "We can make this work together. I'll change doctors, or I'll even leave this clinic," he pleaded, desperation evident in his voice.

"It's bullshit, stop making up excuses. It's not about my job anymore; it's about me," Sora retorted, her words cutting through the night like a knife. The air was thick with tension and unresolved emotions.

"Loving you is painful anyway," she confessed, her voice trembling with a mixture of sorrow and yearning.

"Love is stronger than pain; it's scientifically proven," Jay insisted, attempting to bridge the emotional gap between them. He reached out to embrace her, but she forcefully shoved his hands away.

"Leave me alone. I gave you what you wanted. I gave you your diagnosis, and your mental health has gotten better. You can finally interact with your fans, and you can perform on stage. What the hell do you want from me?"

"Can't you see it? I love you," Jay confessed, the weight of his emotions hanging in the air like an unspoken promise.

A profound silence settled between them, both locked in a gaze that spoke volumes. Then, as if breaking a dam, Sora started crying.

"Love... what is it good for? Absolutely nothing." Sora echoed, her tone reflective of her internal conflict. She didn't believe it, but she had to somehow convince him to protect him. To love is to suffer anyway.

"Please don't say that. I've loved you since the day I saw you, and I don't think I can live without you," Jay pleaded, his words filled with sincerity and vulnerability.

"It'll pass," she whispered, leaving the hill and giving him a hug for the last time. Her tears, like droplets of shattered dreams, fell onto the soil.

Their once vibrant spring of love has faded into a somber memory.
