[Margaret] - [Lana del rey]
They walked to her house, and by the time they arrived at 2 am, Sora quietly unlocked the door. Whispering to each other, Jay asked, "Aren't you going to tell your parents?"
"I'll do it in the morning; they're asleep right now," she responded. Sora was about to lead him to her room when he suddenly said, "Sora, I'm hungry."
"And what do you want me to do?" she asked.
"I'm a guest; you should treat me well," Jay teased. They ventured into the kitchen, rummaging through cupboards. Accidentally, Jay knocked down a fork, creating a loud sound. They exchanged glances before bursting out laughing.
"Stay quiet; do you want my father to kill you?"
"I'm going to my room for a sec to charge our phones. You stay quiet and do nothing,"
Unbestknow to them, the clatter of the fallen fork echoed through the silent house, this seemingly innocent noise had reached the ears of a man in his 60s. His eyes snapped open, the rhythmic thud of his heart reverberating in his chest as he swiftly retrieved a gleaming silver gun from a drawer.
With practiced stealth, he tiptoed down the hallway, his senses heightened. As he approached the kitchen door, the cold metal of the gun felt strangely comforting in his grip. The dim light cast ominous shadows on the walls, and his pulse quickened.
Upon entering the kitchen, he saw the dark silhouette, indistinct figures rummaging through the drawers. In his other hand, he clutched a vase. The adrenaline coursing through his veins fueled his determination to protect his home.
Silently, he moved behind the taller figure, the tension in the air thickening. In one swift motion, he swung the vase, connecting with a dull thud against the intruder's head.
Jay, still reeling from the impact on his head, looked up in a daze, questioning his life choices as Sora's father continued his weird behavior. Meanwhile, Sora, shocked by the chaotic scene, sprinted from her room, her face a mix of concern and disbelief.
"I told him not to touch anything..." she muttered under her breath, wondering how a simple night had escalated so fast.
To her bewilderment, she found her father wielding a gun. "Dad! Stop!" Sora exclaimed, rushing into the chaotic scene.
Upon hearing his daughter's voice, Sora's father turned around with a beaming smile. "My Sora, when did you get here? I missed you," he said, momentarily forgetting about the guest sprawled on the floor.
"Sora..." Jay managed to say, attempting to comprehend the unexpected warfare.
Sora's father, now convinced Jay was a thief, scowled at him. "You filthy man, don't utter my daughter's name," he barked.
Sora, rushed to Jay's side, checking his head. She shot a stern look at her father and demanded, "Why the hell did you do this?"
"Are... you... defending him? I should've not let you listen to Britney Spears," her father grumbled.
"Dad, this is my friend, and put your gun back; it's scary,"
"Ahh, this? It's just a water gun," he explained nonchalantly, and in a moment of carelessness, accidentally splashed Jay's face with water while giggling to himself. Jay, now soaked and bewildered, couldn't help but regret his life choices.
Seated in the living room amidst her peculiar family, Sora's father seemed to have zero thoughts, her mother was subtly admiring the beautiful man beside her, and her brother appeared half-asleep, likely contemplating if he was still dreaming.
Sora, taking charge, patted Jay's head gently with an ice pack, attempting to remedy the unexpected chaos. However, her brother, with a teasing grin, broke the curious silence, "Is that your boyfriend?"
The question caught Sora off guard, and a flash of annoyance crossed her face. In her distracted state, she accidentally knocked Jay's head with the ice pack. He winced in pain, and Sora quickly apologized, "Omg, I'm so sorry."
Holding his head, Jay felt an unexpected flutter deep within, realizing that Sora's unintentional actions had a surprisingly tender effect on him.
Sora's mother, emerging from her daydream, resumed her questioning, conducting an impromptu interview with the man seated before her.
"What's your name?" she inquired.
"I'm Park Jongseong," he replied.
Curious, she continued, "What do you do for a living?"
"I'm a singer."
Suddenly awakened from a deep slumber, Sora's brother wiped off his drool, eyes wide open. He asked, "Thee Park Jeongsong?" Jay offered a timid smile in response.
"What do your parents do for a living?"
"My father is a businessman, and my mother is a doctor."
Sora's parents couldn't help but be impressed, already envisioning their daughter's potential future with this talented and seemingly accomplished man. However, the atmosphere shifted when the next question lingered in the air.
"Do you love our Sora?" The question caught Jay off guard, and he choked on his saliva, coughing uncontrollably.
"I-"
Before he could articulate a response, Sora intervened, shoving water down his throat to silence him.
Realizing the potential danger of the situation, Sora hurriedly diverted the conversation, "Mom, our guest is probably tired. It's a bit disrespectful to keep him up at this late hour."
"Oh no I don't..."
Attempting to maintain control, Sora subtly warned Jay with a glare. Her mother, undeterred, teased, "Your turn is coming soon, little miss." Sora gulped nervously at her mother's ominous comment.
The living room emptied, as Sora went off to retrieve a change of clothes for Jay. Simultaneously, her parents withdrew to their room to resume their interrupted sleep.
Seunghan, Sora's brother, remained alone with Jay, his jaw hanging agape in amazement. Unsettled by the scrutiny, Jay mustered a smile that momentarily caused Seunghan's soul to take leave of his body.
Fueled by excitement, Seunghan stammered, "Can you sign my albums?" Jay, appreciating the teenager's fervor, readily agreed.
As the event continued, Sora returned to the living room and discovered her brother putting Jay through an unintended fan signing session. Taking charge, she seized Seunghan by the collar and ushered him to his room, declaring, "Tomorrow morning, you'll apologize to him. Now, go to sleep."
She returned to the living room to find Jay fast asleep, his features serene and peaceful. Admiring the small details of his face, like the slight slit of his lips and the moles on his honey skin, she marveled at his eagle-like eyes. Lost in these observations, she smiled to herself.
Suddenly, Jay's eyes fluttered open, catching her in the act. He looked at her, adoration evident in his gaze. "Were you admiring me, Sori?"
"Sori? That's not my name?"
"It's a nickname. You don't like it?"
"We are not close friends. There's a professional boundary between us that doesn't allow you to refer to me as anything other than my last name or my name."
He inched closer, their noses brushing, getting lost in her eyes. He almost forgot his sentence, saying, "Are you sure you could call this professional?"
Her cheeks heated up at the instant, hating the fact that his words had a huge effect on her. She shoved the clothes in his face and said, "Go get changed; you stink."
As she was about to get up, he took her wrist, holding her in place. She was weirded out by the sudden skin contact. "Where am I sleeping?"
"In the guest room, the one next to my room."
"Oh, I thought I was sleeping next to you."
She stepped on his foot rather harshly, on purpose. He chuckled at her childish antics. She was almost out of sight when Jay said, "Goodnight, Sora."
She stopped dead in her tracks, turned to him, and gave him a genuine smile. "Goodnight... Jay."
