Chapter  I : the accident

Jay strolled through the Incheon Airport, without his fellow members, as he's scheduled for a solo private event. Initially dismissing the need for a mask, assuming saesangs wouldn't be present, he faced an unexpected swarm of cameras and flashlights near the airport exit.

"Fuck..." he mutters, hastily donning his mask, sunglasses, and cap, but not before the eager crowd already identifies him.

He felt the crowd pushing him at the airport, reporters and fans yelling his name, cameras in his face. There are too many; even his bodyguards can't handle it.

"Jay, do you remember me?" questions an unfamiliar face, possibly a saesang.

"Jay, please confirm if the rumors are true. Were you in a serious relationship with the idol Chaewon?" His bodyguards struggled to push away the overwhelming crowd.

"Oh my god, is that Suga from BTS?" exclaims one.

"It's Jjongseong, you blind bitch!" retorts another.

"What the hell did you just call me?"

Then, they both start fist-fighting, dragging each other to the floor. This isn't new for Jay – fights between fans seem to break out amusingly often.

"Jay, is it true that you're the idol Gdragon was talking about?" questions the persistent reporter.

What the hell, I don't even talk to Gdragon. What makes them think I'd have a sniff with him? Jay thinks, frustration building.

"Come on, be honest. We know you take drugs. You were behaving weirdly on stage last week," the reporter insists, determined to find a scandalous story.

Feeling the pressure, Jay stops abruptly, causing everyone else to halt. The tension is palpable.

In a sudden burst of anger, he raises his fist and shoves it into the reporter's face.

"You want something to talk about, you motherfuckers? Here's a great scandal!" he declares. The bodyguards, initially protecting the idol from fans,is now protecting the fans from the idol.

The reporter, with a bloodied face, sprints away, hugging his broken camera. Fans follow suit, running for their lives.

Jay stares at his bloodied hand, and his bodyguard grimly remarks, "You fucked up real bad this time."

Within the span of 15 minutes , news spread like wildfire, and videos of Jay in the airport are now all around the entire internet.

the hybe building, specifically belift lab, is inundated with phone calls. Enhypen Jay is trending #1 across all social media platforms worldwide.

"The video is fake, you know. AI has become scary nowadays. Jay would never do that," the frustrated manager attempts to clear up the misunderstandings.

The staff is in disarray, some crumbled on the floor, unsure of how to handle the situation. They are torn between trying to salvage Jay's reputation and contemplating handing in their resignation letters. Strangely, the stocks of belift rapidly increase, reflecting the unpredictable twists in the aftermath of the incident.

Jay enters the hybe building, oblivious to the chaos unfolding in his label. Opening the dorm room, he finds the members looking stressed in the living room, all giving him death stares upon his arrival.

"What's wrong? You look like you saw a ghost," he casually remarks.

"We saw you," one of the members retorts.

Jay chuckles, thinking it's a joke, but Jungwon, fuming with anger, gets up and takes Jay by the collar, pinning him to the door.

"What's wrong with you, bro?"

"No, what is wrong with you? You can't just keep doing things and being ignorant. It's time you stop being selfish and realize the consequences of your actions."

Heeseung intervenes, diffusing the intense situation. "Won, just drop it. He looks like he hasn't seen social media."

Jay is confused, so Jake opens his phone and shows him the trending video.

"Oh, shit..."

"Indeed, he deserved it though," Jake adds.

Their intense interaction is abruptly halted by the manager. "The chairman is looking for you," he announces, instilling fear on the faces of the other members.

They worry about the potential consequences, fearing Jay might have to leave the group or, worse yet, the entire group disbanding.

The Dispatch reporter storms into the hybe building, meeting with Bang PD, his fury evident. This scandal is the biggest his company has ever faced.

"We signed a deal that you wouldn't share anything about my idols," Bang PD sternly reminds him.

The reporter, still bloodied and shaken, stammers, "I-I swear it wasn't me."

As they converse, Jay enters the office. "You called for me, sir?"

Hearing Jay's voice, the reporter trembles even more, seeking refuge behind the chairman.

"It's not a big deal; you just lost a tooth," Jay remarks casually. The reporter starts crying, prompting Jay to mutter under his breath, "That's what you get for invading my privacy."

Bang PD glares at Jay before addressing the reporter behind him. "You better find out who posted that video. Jay's face isn't evident anyway; we could just say it's an old video from before his debut."

"Yes, sir, I'll try to," the reporter replies nervously.

"Try to? You better find out before tomorrow," the chairman warns.

"I'll do it faster if you provide me with something else. You know I have a family and kids," the reporter pleads.

The chairman rolls his eyes at the audacity. "Yah! Do you want me to knock down your other tooth?" The reporter hastily leaves the office.

"Now, coming to you... where do I start?" Jay gets lost in thought, and his employer grows extremely angry.

"This is the biggest scandal I've ever had because of your selfishness. Just because you're globally famous and have your company behind your back doesn't mean you can do whatever you want," Bang PD reprimands.

"But!" Jay attempts to interject, but Bang PD cuts him off sternly.

"No 'buts.' Look around. Do you see all these people trying so hard to fix your mistakes? What if they lose their jobs, huh?...I can't guarantee your safety if this gets out of hand. I have no other choice but to permanently disband you from the group."

"You can't do that. It was just a moment of rage. You know how bad my mental health has been," Jay pleads.

"Jay, you can't do whatever you want because you're depressed and can't control your emotions," Bang PD asserts.

"I'll do my best to never repeat my mistake ever again, sir. Just please don't take away my dream from me," Jay bows 90 degrees to the man in front of him.

"You better find a way to fix your mental health; otherwise, I'd have to terminate our contract. But I'll deal with this, don't worry," Bang PD expresses, feeling a sense of guilt for the young adult in front of him. He doesn't want to further ruin Jay's life, understanding the determination he exhibited during his trainee and I-Land days. It's a shame that one small thing in the idol industry could jeopardize a career.

As Jay hears the weighty ultimatum and the possibility of losing his dream, his mind races, breath shortening, and an overwhelming sense of suffocation sets in.

The harsh reality of the potential consequences for his impulsive actions starts to sink in. In a desperate attempt to alleviate the pressure building within him, he unfastens the zipper of his sweater, feeling as though the walls of the office are closing in on him.

With a sense of urgency, Jay steps out onto the balcony, seeking solace in the open air. The cool breeze hits his face, but it offers little relief to the turmoil within. The city below, usually a vibrant spectacle, now seems distant and indifferent to his struggles.

He takes deep breaths, trying to regain control over his racing thoughts, but the weight of his thoughts and the struggles with anxiety persist.

Feeling the overwhelming weight of it all, Jay crumbles to the floor on the balcony, hugging his knees tightly. Alone with his thoughts and the distant city lights, he battles the internal demons that have haunted him.
