INDIGO TEMPEST had an easier childhood than most. She knew she had way more than most, but one thing she didn't have was her own freedom.
When she reached the age of 15 her parents started preparing her to run their family business.
What was their family business you might ask? It was an air plane company, called "Tempest Heights".
Her parents wanted her to work for them and then when she reached the right age they wanted her to take over for them.
She knew this was important to her parents so she did what any other teenager would do to, she did her very best and surpassed their marks to please them.
But while she was working under them in her internship, she always had a feeling.
And that feeling was boredom.
From a young age Indigo always enjoyed adrenaline high's, she lived for it, thrived in it.
So working behind a desk for 7-8 hours a day wasn't all that appealing to her.
But she sucked it and went along with it for her parents.
β
ROUNDING A YEAR, it was almost Indigo's 16th birthday when she found out her parents were pregnant, with her baby sister.
It did come as a shock to her to find out her parents were still active, but at least she got a little sister out of it.
Ever since her parents knew they were expecting another child, they pushed Indigo even harder.
She barely had anytime for her highschool friends, or any free time of her own, but she made sure she found a little time, even if it was only school sports.
But she made sure to pushed through it even it was tiring, and the reason why she pushed through it was because of her unborn baby sister.
β
7 months later, Blue Tempest was born into the family.
Indigo had to work more from her parent, but when she got any free time she made sure to stop by and see her baby sister.
The two quickly bonded, and were around each other most of the time, when Blue wasn't with their parents.
It was great for the first 5 years, Blue was starting kindergarten and Indigo just turned 21.
Indigo really tried liking her parents careers and their company, but she knew she would never love it like they did.
So when she finally got a night of freedom, she applied for the army's Black Ops unit.
β
INDIGO THOUGHT OF everything that brought her joy or even the ample amounts of adrenaline.
And one thing that did bring her joy was shooting targets, with her dad's gun range membership.
Her father β Nick β always wanted her to be able to protect herself whether it be from as small as a pick-pocketer to a house invasion.
So he brought her to the gun range and showed her how to shot targets.
That fueled Indigo's hungry for adrenaline, for as long as she could remember and it never got old.
So when she started looking for jobs that she would like, she found her curser hovering over the marine's website.
She knew there were different parts to being a marine, but what really drew her in was the Black Op's website.
Her eyes lit up like christmas trees.
And that's when she knew this was the career for her.
β
INDIGO'S TRAINING WAS TOUGH, she wasn't going to lie about that.
But surprisingly she got a 148 on her General Technical, combat operations assessment and a 99 on her Army Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test.
Which also happened to be the highest you could get on that specific test.
She thanked her high-school sports training and father's target practice for her endurance levels and sharp eyes.
Without a doubt she was on the army's radar to be one of the most highest ranking soldiers they had ever seen, and a woman solider at that.
β
TELLING HER PARENTS was not as easy as she thought it would be.
When she got her acceptance letter into the Black Ops unit, she jumped for joy but that quickly stopped when she realized she would have to deal with her parents backlash.
Pondering on what to say, she eventually came up with the decision that she wasn't going to say anything.
The only person she would tell was her baby sister, Blue.
The little 5 year old, didn't really know how to take the news.
She was confused surely, but what she did know was that her sister was leaving home.
She cried and begged her not to go but ultimately knew once her big sister got an idea in her head she stuck to it.
Seeing her sisters teary face, Indigo made sure to keep her promise and visit when she got the chance and take her to the carousel by Central Park, like they did every year for her birthday.
β
GIVING 8 YEARS OF HER LIFE, to the Black Ops unit was the best thing Indigo had ever done.
She had made life long friends and lost some along the way.
But was great for the years she gave to her country and those who deserved her service.
Coming back home, she made it in time to take her sister who was now 13 years old, to the carousel.
They had fun everyday she was at home, while also making sure to avoid their parents since they had gotten the notice that she was in the force and was currently across the country.
Being at home was great but Indigo still missed the rushed of holding a gun so she decided to join the swat team and with her priors they welcomed her with open arms.
β
TWO YEARS HAD PASSED BY, and it was now Indigo's day off.
She had requested this specific day off because it was her sister's birthday.
And when she asked, her superiors had granted it saying she needed to take some time off anyways.
So as she made her way up her parents front porch. She knocked on their front door and was meet with her mother.
She expected the woman to turn a cold shoulder to her as she opened the door but instead she welcomed her with open arms.
Her parents over the years had missed her dearly, but they didn't know how to show it.
So when their oldest daughter turned up on their porch for their youngest daughters birthday they were delighted.
"Come on in, Blue upstairs finishing up." Rebecca, her mother granted.
Indigo simply nodded her head and followed her mother inside.
As soon as she stepped foot inside the threshold, her mother turned around to give her a hug.
Indigo embraced it remembering the simpler times in their family.
Just as they finished hugging, Blue finally made her way down stairs.
"Looks like I missed the family reunion." She joked, with a smile on her face as she descended down the stairs.
"You didn't miss much, just a simple hug from mother dearest." Indigo joked back, with a smile appearing upon her face as well.
Walking towards each other they also greeted each other with a hug.
"You girls be safe out there today. And hurry back for Blue's birthday dinner." Rebecca reminded.
They both nodded and rushed out of the front door, to Indigo's army green Ford Bronco.
On there way to the carousel, Blue turned to her sister.
"You know, someday I'm going to grow out of this sister tradition we have."
Indigo made a funny look on her face while giving her sister a side eye.
"You'll never grow out of this, because unbeknownst to you, I know your still a kid at heart. The same kid who loves carousels and and picnics in Central Park."
"Oh you know me so well." Blue exaggerated.
"Yeah, I do actually."
"Okay, miss fortune teller. Tell me what you have in store for me today."
"Starting off we are going to ride the carousel so many times till we can't see straight then we are going to eat so much junk food till we get cavities because 16th birthdays are the best birthdays." Indigo stated.
"I like those ideas." Blue agreed while laughing.
10 minutes had passed by when they finally made it to the carousel by Central Park.
And the sister raced each other to the ride.
It felt good to have a repeated tradition.
Blue and Indigo had rode the carousel for at least 10 minutes straight with no breaks in between and had a mini photo shoot in between.
2 minutes had passed when Indigo felt something off.
Being in Black Ops and the SWAT team made her sharp, so she knew when things were off, she could sense them.
Feeling the wind pass by her she knew that the trajectory was a little to good.
It was when she saw a streak of light bounce off the carousel mirror, something bad was about to happen.
At first she heard a lone scream, then people running and that's when she heard the gun shots.
People in black armor trying to stay hidden, and other out in the open shooting at each other.
One specific shooter started shooting at the people on the carousel, with the two sisters included.
Indigo's reaction time was fast but as she tried to get in front of her sister to protect her, she failed.
One bullet was all it took.
One head shot through and through, that bullet exited Blue's head and pierced Indigo who was right behind her.
Standing a few inches taller over her sister, the bullet pierced a few inches too close to her heart.
She could only let out one shrill scream before she went down beside her bloody sister body.
Before her eyes closed she saw her sisters eyes still open.
And all she could do was have tears stroll down her cheeks.
In her final movements, Indigo reached for her sister hand to grasp it.
β
THAT DAY, April 4, Indigo Tempest died along side her sister Blue Tempest.
And the woman who came back was not the same.
Some how and some way, Indigo had the strength to get up and walk away from the Massacre at Central Park.
When she left the park, she couldn't look back. She couldn't look at her sister's dead body.
There were police cars swarming the area and CSI units taking measurements and picture of everything.
Someone even managed to get one of her, thought it was from a distance so no one could really see her face.
One minute she was there the next she gone.
Managing to make it to her car, Indigo drove herself to a hospital.
And when she signed in it was as Jane Doe.
She knew something went down in Central Park that day, and seeing the FBI painting it as a gang shot out gone wrong, was infuriating because she knew it wasn't.
She saw the government issued equipment that the men in black were wearing and she recognized it because she wore everyday for 2 years.
Since that day β her little sisters birthday β she wanted vengeance, and vengeance she would get.
After getting the all clear from her doctors and nurses, Indigo went dark and started compiling all the evidence and people she knew she needed to hunt down.
Everyone was going to pay for what they did to her, for what they did to her sister on their special day.
And nobody was going to make it out alive, not if she could help it.
The first city she had to go to was Hell's Kitchen, and she was going to make sure that there was hell to pay.
Indigo Tempest was going to figure out who shot and killed her sister.
Even if it was the last thing she ever did.
Chapter 1 will be coming soon!
