━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Eva found herself on the astronomy tower yet again, in need of a break. Really, she was always in need of a break.

She leaned back against the roof and gazed up at the sky. The moon was almost full, and the stars seemed to shine a bit brighter. The night sky had always seemed so beautiful to the girl. Sure, during the day, the sun and light could be nice, but not anything compared to the late hours. Eva found the darkness comforting, and almost safe.

Although it seemed Eva wasn't the only one who decided to venture to the astronomy tower that night.

"So we meet again."

Eva quickly sat up and turned to see the younger Black brother. She couldn't help but think the brothers looked so much alike.

"So we do."

Regulus sat down a ways away from her.

"Do you come up here often?" she asked the boy.

"Every once in a while," he told her. "You?"

"More often than I'd like to admit," she shrugged, before fixing her gaze back to the night sky. It never failed to impress her.

The two teenagers sat quietly, their minds far apart from their bodies.

Regulus was curious about the girl. He knew she was observant, similar to him. Although he was only observant because he never spoke much. One wrong word and a letter would be sent from his parents. That's not a good thing. She could be shy and quiet most of the time, but every so often she spoke up. She wasn't loud and didn't make a show of herself very often, unlike her popular brother. Regulus thought of himself the same that way. Sirius, just like James, wasn't afraid to speak his mind, even to his parents. He wouldn't forget the night Sirius put up a picture of a muggle girl in a bikini on the wall. The beatings Sirius got were horrible that night. He was everything but disowned and Regulus couldn't help but be worried. Not just for his brother, but for himself. If Sirius got disowned or left, Regulus would be left alone.

Eva was curious about the boy. Being observant lead her to knowing many things; some she wishes she knew less about. One day she had overheard James and Sirius talking about his family. She didn't listen in much, for she felt it was a bit private, but she caught a few words. It was no doubt Sirius was a rebel, and it leads to trouble at home. Although she didn't know how bad it was. For Sirius, and for Regulus. Surely Regulus couldn't have it as bad, right? He seemed like golden-child material. Either way, she didn't dare bring any of that up.

"Why do we have to be treated like this?" the boy sighed. He didn't need to further explain, Eva already knew what he was talking about.

"You know... James only knows extremes. Sirius too." Regulus nodded as she continued. "He doesn't get mad and then get over it. He either loves people a lot, like his friends, or hates them, like Severus."

"I guess your right," Regulus said, laying back on the roof. "Sirius is... too rebellious for his own good." The boy didn't say anything else, so she left it.

"It's almost 10:00," Regulus told her. "I'm going to head back, you should too."

The girl nodded. "I'll be a minute. It was nice talking to you," she smiled at the boy as she left.

They hadn't talked much, but his presence was... therapeutic. Evaleigne waited 20 more minutes before heading down to where the marauders promised to meet her. James had said it was some sort of way to make up for the prank over winter break.

"Now you must not tell anyone where we are going. It's a special spot, and if everyone knew about it, it would become crowded all the time," James explained. Eva rolled her eyes. He really thought everything circled around him. She already knew they were simply going to the kitchens.

Remus tickled the pear and they went through the portrait.

"Good evening Mistress Potter, Master Potter, Mater Black, Master Lupin, Master Pettigrew," one of the elves greeted. James looked at his sister curiously. Surely the elves just assumed she was a Potter, for they both looked quite alike.

"Would you like the usual Mistress?" one of the elves asked Eva.

"Yes, Diminda, that would be wonderful," Eva told the elf before she scurried off.

"I didn't know you knew where the kitchens were," James told her confusedly.

"There's a lot you don't know about me Jamsie," she sang, and Sirius snickered at the nickname.

The boys all told the elves what they wanted and sat around a table in the back.

It wasn't long before the food had arrived, the elves were quick in that manner.

"Are those... peach muffins?" James asked Eva.

"Yes, they are. Does that bother you?" she teased.

"No, I just thought they would remind you of..." James' voice trailed off.

"Oh Jamsie," Eva sang. "You are so good at this."

"Sorry! I just thou-"

"I don't want to hear it, it's fine."Sirius' eyes darted between the two Potter siblings. Surely there was something they weren't telling them, though for once, Sirius bit his tongue.

The boy's talked the night away. Eva, well Eva sat there. She piped in here and then, but she knew they could care less about her. She laughed along when they did, but she wasn't sure if she was happy or tricking herself into believing she was. Although for them, jokes were exchanged and time passed by in a blur of fun and laughter. After a while, things slowed down a bit, if that really was possible. I mean, we're talking about the marauders.

"Sirius, how is your family?" James asked in a hushed tone, doing his daily check-ins for his best friend, as they called it.

Sirius' eyes again found themselves darting between James and Eva.

"I'm telling you both as I did before, I know more than you think," Eva stated, clear and profound. "So if you're going to say something, say something, because I'll find out sooner or later."

"Oh really?" Sirius sang, leaning in slightly. If it were any other girl, they would have swooned over the boy, but she did not. Sirius was a heartthrob, but Eva pronounced this as 'pig'.

"There's a lot you don't know about us," James said, a smirk plastered on his face.

"I say she has to prove it," Sirius added, his expression quite the same.

"Hmm... let's see. Well..." Eva turned so she was facing Remus. "Moony over here has a furry problem, doesn't he."

"What are you talking about-"

"You mean his lycanthrope problem-"

"How did you know-"

"The nickname-"

"You know, even if I was wrong, you all told me everything. And yes, I know. Do you wish me to continue?"

"I think she proved it enough," Peter said to his friends, and Remus nodded in agreement.

"It was probably a lucky guess," Sirius told him.

"Honestly boys. You all make it too obvious. Even Severus suspects things."

James ignored his little sister. "I agree with Sirius. Maybe she overheard something," James said, making Eva roll her eyes.

"Fine then. If you think you know so much, what's something else?"

"Hand me that parchment Wormy," Eva instructed. Peter hesitated for a moment before handing the girl the parchment he held loosely in his hand. He wasn't used to Eva calling them by their nicknames.

Eva held her wand above the parchment. She had never held it before, but she knew how it worked. It couldn't be that difficult, really.

"I solemnly swear I am up to no good."

Let's just say, that was enough for even Sirius and James to believe her, yet none of them seemed to pick up on the fact that Eva wasn't like everyone else.
