"Kaelyn, you look stunning," Eva gasps as her eyes fly up and down her best friend's figure.

"Have you seen yourself? The costume idea was brilliant," she gushed back at her.

It is true, their matching costumes will surely stand out next to the student body.

Kaelyn wears a mustard yellow shirt with bell sleeves and earrings in the shape of the morning sun. A tight metallic yellow skirt hugs around her thin figure, held by a heavenly silver belt. She wears chunky black shoes that appear to heavily weigh down her feet. She is letting her blond hair tickle her collarbones with two small braids twisted on either end of her smooth ivory face.

Eva, on the other hand, sported a dress the deep color of oxford blue. The attire is dazzled with silver jewels that represent stars. It has long mesh sleeves which she had paired with matching mesh pants; both with celestial patterns embroidered on them. She wears a silver belt like Kaelyns as well as high black boots.

Together, their cosmic outfits make the sun and the moon.

Gazing into the mirror, Eva beams at their reflections. Though her dark palette slightly washes out her pale complexion, it brings out her "stunning eyes," according to Kaelyn, that she always tries to hide. For Kaelyn, the bright yellows bring out the pink undertone of her skin.

Eva loves Halloween; well she loves every holiday and any reason to celebrate.

She gets an excuse to read scary stories in her pajamas all morning and practice making wounds with her muggle special effects kit. Sometimes Eva and her dorm-mates put on a little skit or paint each other's faces for the mere joy of it.

Kaelyn had wrapped their dormitory door in orange lights that look like miniature pumpkins. At their feet lay four jack-o-lanterns aglow - carved by Eva, Kaelyn, and their other roommates - and flickering into the amiable ambiance of the Ravenclaw common room.

It is cold, even for the end of October, as if all the heat has been drained away into the earth. Thinking nothing of it and chattering excitedly, Kaelyn and Eva trekked to the Great Hall.

The wizards and witches of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are happily anticipating the annual Halloween feast.

The Great Hall had been adorned with the usual live bats, Hagrid's vast pumpkins had been carved into lanterns large enough for three men to sit in, and there were rumors that Albus Dumbledore had prearranged a troupe of ghosts to do formation gliding at the closure of the feast.

The pair walked towards the end of the Ravenclaw table where Adan and his other friend Ben were sitting.

"Is anyone sitting here?" Eva asks, her hand intertwined with Kaelyns.

"You two, of course," Adan responds, smiling cheekily as he moves slightly down the bench for the two of them to squeeze in.

Kaelyn ends up sitting next to Adan, obviously, and Eva sits across the table from them with Ben Wells.

"Thank you, Adan. Hello Ben, it's nice to see you," she says lightly with a small smile.

"Hey, Eva! It is nice to see you as well."

When the feast finally falls upon the tables, even having been at Hogwarts a year before, Eva is taken back by the amount and miscellany of food. The dishes that are thrown before her are now amassed with edibles; she had never seen so many things she wished to devour on a single table. The Ravenclaw table was festooned with roast beef, roast chicken, pork chops and lamb chops, sausages, bacon and steak, boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, fries, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, gravy, ketchup, and, for some strange reason, peppermint humbugs...

She is not alone when piling an assortment of food onto her golden dish. Could she finish it all? Probably not. Does she really care? Not in the slightest.

The meal was eaten predominantly in silence for all of their mouths were full of food that sure would resurface at a later hour. However, there was the occasional mumble of words through stuffed mouths of those who could care less about eating with their mouths agape.

When dessert rolls around - there's more? - Eva is not sure if she can eat anymore. Though when She sees what is before her, she second-guesses her previous thoughts.

The long table is embellished with confectionery-filled pumpkins, caramel adorned apples, pumpkin juice, black cauldrons of big lollipops, carrot cake, and goblets of colored sweets.

"I don't think I can eat anymore," Ben groans, earning nods of agreement from his table mates.

"Unlike you bloody idiots, I didn't stuff myself," Adan tells them triumphantly, speaking up for maybe the first time that night.

"That's because you learned it the hard way last year," Eva scoffed in his direction.

"Are you all coming to the Gryffindor party tonight?" Ben asks the group. The idea makes Eva the slightest bit uncomfortable. She is not much of a party person, nor is she a huge fan of large crowds.

"Of course," Adan tells him. "Wouldn't miss a Gryffindor party for the world."

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Teenage parties are one thing, but Gryffindor takes the party business to an entirely different level. Of course, this is because of Eva's brother and his best friends.

Eva thought she had realized this in her first year, but yet again, she is utterly surprised with the holiday extravaganza.

The hickory eyed girl watches the large mass of people in the Gryffindor common room nervously, clearly to Kaelyn appearing hesitant to join the party. Eva sighs lightly, feeling tugging on her hand by her friend.

"Come on Eva, it'll be fun! Loosen up a bit. Let's melt into this party, melt into the beat, and sweat until our hearts call for the luxury of bed and the chaos of our entwined dreams. Stay awhile, have some fun," Kaelyn coaxed melodically.

She eventually was able to pull Eva into the mass of people to join the party. The two of them started dancing, seemingly without any other care in the world.

The music is like liquid adrenaline being injected right into Eva's bloodstream - not so strong as to freak her out, but just enough to make her tingle and start to move her body more freely. She has never had a dance class before, but she and her parents have jived to music since she was younger, competing in a friendly way that parents and children do.

Eva expected not to be such a mover and shaker at a large party, maybe shy in the way she moved, but she finds herself moving silkily under the dim lights of the common room.

"Loosen up a bit, Kaelyn," Eva laughs airily, throwing the blonde's words back at her as she dances stiffly. Hypocrite. "You look absolutely stunning. Show everyone who's boss."

"It's you by the way," Eva added in a whisper.

Kaelyn laughs with a smile that comes from farther down than her soul. Letting herself relax, her motions were as good as mimicking her dancing partner.

As Eva dances with her best friend at her hip, she feels free of herself and the worries of the world. She is a well-oiled machine on the party's dance floor. Eva does not dance in a way to show off, to make boys or girls watch - but they do. Anyone that could move like their limbs were half liquid in perfect rhythm and still look strong was interesting, to say the least.

Still hours later, she and various friends bounce around happily in the crowd of witches and wizards. Kaelyn had disappeared from her sight. Assumably, she left the party or was snatched away by Adan.

By this point, the music is so loud that it makes Eva's skin tingle and her lungs feel like mush. The bass thumps in time with her heartbeat as though they were one, filling her from head to toe with music. She likes the song playing. Over the roar of music, a distant, hazy chatter can be heard. She can not make out any words, but laughter rings in her ears and will not seem to stop. The song that is playing gets louder, pulling her in, and will not let go. She has no choice but to join the crowd, jumping in a huddled group like Tic-Tacs being shaken in a box.

And just as her friend told me a while ago, her heart calls for the luxury that makes her bed and the chaos of her entwined dreams.

Her eyelids flutter softly as the day comes closed, she feels full of happiness and content.
