━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Eva had been unconscious for two straight weeks. She didn't receive very many gifts like anyone else would have if they were in her position. She obviously was not as popular or well known as her older brother, and either way, she kept her friend circle extremely small.

The friends she did have, came to visit, along with the marauders, and even Regulus, who quickly disappeared when his older brother and his friends stopped by.

Nobody, not even Kaelyn or Adan, knew about what had happened. Them, along with the rest of the school, believed she had crashed into the whomping willow while flying. James had come up with the story and was beginning to realize his sister wouldn't be fond of it if she woke up at all.

Remus was a huge mess. Because of him, Eva was severely injured and in a deep coma. All of his friends had told him it was all just an accident, and that in reality, it was simply Snape's fault for the whole ordeal. They all knew Eva would tell him the same thing, but that made Remus feel even worse. She would have told him that, but she didn't; because she was in a coma, and it was his fault. Madam Pomfrey had told him Eva would wake up sooner or later, though even she wasn't sure.

James had found the best coping method for him was to avoid the hospital wing altogether. He knew she would have wanted him to stay, but he couldn't bear to see her in the condition she was in.

Instead, Kaelyn and Adan took turns staying with her during any free time, completing their school work on a makeshift desk beside her hospital bed. During the night, they would sleep in the hospital cots on either side of her, refusing to leave after curfew. Madam Pomfrey had soon given up on trying to convince them and instead felt bad for the poor children.

However, when Eva Potter did wake up, nobody was there. She was all alone as she groggily sat up in her bed, struggling to prop herself up onto her elbows. Glancing over at the space beside her, she examined herself in a glass of water left for someone to drink.

Her reflection looked weary and tired. Her eyes drooped down slightly, similar to the corners of her lips. Beneath her eyes was a heavy blue color, and her face looked like it had gone pale. Undoubtedly noticeable, there was a long scar going down her cheek. The first thing she thought of was Remus. She hoped deeply that he didn't blame himself for everything that had happened when he truly didn't have any control of himself. Her cheek wasn't the only thing that was scarred. As she pulled up the long hospital gown, her legs were revealed, showing her what was causing the stinging sensation. It looked as if she had walked through a rose bush; though instead of thorns, small knives. Gashes could be seen from her legs to her chest, but they seemed to have faded ever so slightly.

"For Merlin's sake, child please lay back down." Madam Pomfrey hurriedly rushed to her side, forcing her to lay back down. "I was beginning to think you wouldn't wake up, you poor thing," she muttered, shaking her head quickly back and forth.

"Eva!" She immediately recognized the squeaky shriek as Kaelyn.

Eva wanted nothing more than to receive a hug from her dear friend, and that's what she received. Kaelyn could have broken every one of Eva's ribs if it weren't for Madam Pomfrey pulling her off to continue applying different salves. Hot tears streaked down Kaelyn's cheeks as she held Eva's hand, opposite Madam Pomfrey.

"How long have I been out?" she asked her.

"Two weeks," she breathed out. "Eva, you don't even know. Adan and I had been so worried. We stayed with you every night," she choked. "He'll be so happy too to see that you've woken up."

"And my brother?" Eva asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Kaelyn froze for a moment before giving her a response. She, more than anyone, knew Eva and her brother had a shaky relationship.

"He... he needed a bit of space. It was rough for even us to see you in the state you were in," she told her, carefully considering her words.

Eva knew that was Kaelyn's way of saying that her brother hadn't stayed much. She didn't anticipate for him to anyways, of course. Usually, it would have been expected of an older brother to take care of his younger sister, but that wasn't exactly the case for Evaleigne and James Potter.

...

Eva's recovery didn't go as smoothly as one would have liked. Madam Pomfrey had dealt with werewolf wounds before, but those were self-inflicted. She quickly realized the most simple and gentle movements could reopen the wounds. Her scars had significantly faded, but they were still a bit noticeable. It had been at least five days before Eva was allowed to leave the hospital wing with the promise she would pop in every day for the next week.

"Thank you again, Poppy," Eva told her.

"Oh, no worries dear. Let me know how the remainder of your recovery progresses, and you better be coming to check in," she told the girl, wagging her finger around.

To say Adan and Kaelyn were both delighted to see her up and going was an understatement. They seemed to be glued to her side, whenever humanely possible. If Eva was being honest, she didn't mind it one bit. She was grateful that her friends really did care about her and her wellbeing.

James had made an effort to check up on her here and then, though he had no time to speak to her properly, courtesy of her friend's presence. As he had expected, Eva most definitely did not like his made-up story, but that was pretty much put behind them now.

Eva had not yet spoken to Remus, and when she did, it wasn't much to Remus' liking.

"Hey," Eva said, sitting down next to the four boys at the Gryffindor table.

The marauders all looked at her with a combination of confused and concerned faces.

"I didn't know you were out of the hospital wing," Peter squeaked, as he shrunk back slightly.

"I wouldn't see how you lot would know, for none of you decided to visit in the hospital wing," her words were full of sass, but her tone remained neutral.

"Yes, we did! We even saw my little brother there for what that's worth, but we did come to visit," Sirius rambled. Eva was a bit surprised but utterly delighted to hear that Regulus had paid her a visit, but that's not what mattered at the moment.

"You mean you visited me once the whole, almost, three weeks?!"

"I-I'm sorry," Remus stuttered. "I... I couldn't see you... not how... not how you were...I-I hurt you."

"Oh please, Remus," Eva sighed, drawing out the words as she spoke. "It was a result of poor decisions made, and I ended up taking the consequences for those actions. It most definitely isn't your fault, especially because I was the one who decided to chase after Snape." The girl sent a glare over in the direction of the Slytherin table. Snape wasn't looking, but Regulus was. He watched on as the girl spoke to the four boys and came to the final conclusion that she was doing okay.

"But I hurt you," Remus told her. "Those scars... they...they don't just go away, Eva."

"If anything, it makes me look cooler," she shrugged. James stared almost in awe of his sister. He was sure she never spoke this much, and now that she was, he expected it to be from hate and anger.

"Anyways," she said, clearing her throat; she had never heard the four Gryffindor's so quiet. "Who told Snape."

"Nobody. He said he saw a chipmunk or something touches the knot of the tree," the lie slid easily off James' tongue, but the eyes of the boys suggested otherwise.

"Nice try. Sirius, why did you do it?" Seeing as all eyes were flickering between Sirius and the girl, there was no doubt he was behind it. His eyes widened as large as saucers at the words coming out of her mouth.

"I didn't-" he began shakily.

"Honestly, save it Black," she told him with a sweet smile. She would have listened to his excuses, but she decided she wasn't in the mood. "It was an accident, you didn't know what would happen. I have to go anyways."

The Potter girl turned and half skipped back to the Ravenclaw table. The boys' eyes trailed after her, their mouths partially hanging open.

"What has gotten into your sister Prongs?"
