"James. Potter. Put that blasted wand down or I will rip your bloody head from your fat neck."

Eva did not say this aloud of course. Though many would claim it as an instance of childish sibling banter, James takes such comments as a personal offense; especially those regarding his "dashingly good looks."

She swore the throbbing headache that was pounding at the thick of her skull synchronized with the rhythmic patterns of commotion her brother was creating; he had tried to levitate the jar of lemon drops from the kitchen to his lazy spot on the couch, failing miserably and letting the candies roll about the floor - not to mention the broken shards of glass lying dangerously on the ground.

No matter how much she loves (kidding) her mess of a brother, she has a very high dislike for his obnoxious noise-making in the early hours of the day. Eva is not necessarily a morning person, though neither is she a day person, evening person, or a night person.

However, anyone who lays their gaze on her on this specific morning may find she is in a significantly better mood than usual, if that really means much. Sure, she had coffee earlier, but even the strong liquid does not put her in such a good feeling. This feeling is only a feeling she feels once in a while.

This good feeling is because the day is September 1st, 1975; the first day of her fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

She loves the Potter mansion, to say the least. The house is regularly filled with action and laughter, never with a single dull moment. Her parents are beyond loving and caring, making sure both Eva and her older brother are always healthy and happy - that is something she will forever be grateful for.

Yet, she misses Hogwarts. Eva doesn't necessarily know whether that is a bad thing or not, though it is most probably because she can use magic there, she loves the castle in all its magnificence, or because Hogwarts has amazing food. It likely is the food.

Though what she most certainly misses the most about the school is her friends; those she has, of course, consist of only Kaelyn Heathers and Adan Lamond, along with a few acquaintances. She also has a particular liking for Lily Evans as well; while they are not close friends, they both share a particularly strong disliking for a certain boy whose name starts with the letter J.

Kaelyn adores the fall and winter weather and is someone who loves to stay cozy with a cup of hot chocolate in the common room; with myself and Adan, her best friends, of course. There is something about Kaelyn that lures others to her. It does not hurt that she is a fine-looking girl with blond hair and blue eyes, but it is more than that. She is silent, but not out of agonizing shyness. It is a reservedness, like a conscious decision to observe the lie of the land before she gets involved. Yet she is not stand-offish, she remains friendly-faced and welcoming in body posture. It is not like she sat down one day and planned to be like that, it is just the way she is.

Adan, on the other hand, is wholly convinced he belongs in Gryffindor. When an attack comes, should there be no defender, he roars, stands his ground, defends himself, and others; because nobody can lay a single finger on his two best friends. Though he is in Ravenclaw because the clever, intellectual, and sharp-minded side of him overrules everything else. His life can be described in a few words: quidditch, extrovert, and oversized t-shirts.

The two began dating in their second year, though Eva claims to have known it since first. Oh boy, you should have seen the way they looked at each other. They still do the same, look at each other with such love and passion Eva can only dream of having given to her. Though, no, not what you are thinking. She is not a third wheel. Eva would have been long gone by then; She is too touch-deprived and sensitive for that shit. However, thankfully for her, they are not a very touchy couple - that is not their way of displaying attraction.

In summary, her best friends are her number one priority, and she takes no shame in admitting it.

However, she does only have them. It is just her, Kaelyn, and Adan against the world. Eva's lack of friends can be pinpointed onto her brother. He has made it clear to multiple people, multiple times, that she is off-limits - whether it is a prank, spell, or a hissing fit. He will not let her hang out with anyone who will be a 'bad influence' - and in James' opinion, everyone is a 'bad influence'. He treats her like a possession he does not want to share.

If she had a voice in anything, she would tell her git of a brother that his friends were no more of a better influence on her than half the Slytherin house is. Maybe that would push a few buttons.

He surrounds himself with many more people than she likes herself, though the boy can typically be found with his three best friends. He and his mates call themselves the marauders, which consists of Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, and the ever so dreadful Sirius Black.

Sirius and James are the wildest ones of the bunch, always in the lead and making an obnoxious amount of noise. They make impulsive decisions which usually lead to disaster. They both have equal leveled energy which they funnel into pranks and quidditch. Remus has a bit more common sense than the two but always manages to sneak his way into the trouble anyway. Eva had originally pegged Peter as the innocent one, but oh was she wrong. They are all skilled at manipulating situations and causing horrible irritation. Collectively, the four hormonal teenage boys make the most popular friend group in all of Hogwarts.

"Good morning, kids," Fleamont Potter, their father, sings.

Eva gazes lazily at the man as he waltzes his way into the front of the house which consists of the living room and kitchen. He instantly spots her, his tired-looking daughter with a cup of strong coffee, before laying eyes on his son.

"James Fleamont Potter, you put that wand down this minute," he demands. "I have already got enough explaining to do with both the ministry and the headmaster as to why you have been using your wand over the summer."

James pockets his wand with a smirk playing at his lips. Eva simply rolls her eyes. This happens every day. Maybe that is why she misses Hogwarts. She definitely does not get a break from her brother at school, but at least she can sneak away into the Ravenclaw tower or the library to get him off me for a while.

Moments later, Euphemia Potter, their darling mother, joins the side of her husband and the Potter family is whole.

"Shall we get going then?"

Eva rolled to the tips of her feet, poking her head above the mass of people crowding Platform 9 3/4. Her sparkling hickory eyes carefully scan over the wizards and witches alike. The people surrounding the girl are...happy. It may seem like a strange thing to have to point out, though not at this time. 1975 has been a rough year, and in the thick of war, seeing a smile can sometimes be a rare sight. There is seemingly no other way of putting it but that everyone is happy. Children are laughing, parents are smiling, young wizards' eyes filled with excitement and adoration.

Eva has not been paying attention to what James is drawing on about, and he soon realizes this.

"I am trying to talk to you Eva!" he groans in frustration.

"Yes, I can tell James; that is what you have been doing for the last..." she checks her watch, "three minutes we have been on this platform."

As typical siblings do, they are invariably bickering, but Eva's patience at that moment was running extremely thin. Her desire to separate from her brother's side was extremely heightened.

"Please just listen to me this once," he begs, batting his eyelashes innocently. She aggressively rested her heels back to the ground and whipped her head around to look him in the eye.

"I am really not interested in hearing your dramatic confessions of love for a girl who loves somebody else."

"Evans does not like Sniv-!"

Before he could finish, a familiar greasy-haired boy swaggers his way into James and Eva's view.

"Sirius!"

"James!"

Without even a muttered goodbye, her older brother leaves her side for his dear friend. They synchronously sling their arms around each other, walking towards the train. Sirius sends a group of teenage wizards a wave, causing the girls and boys alike to squeal at the sight.

I hate that boy.

She puts the thought of her brother and his gang of pigs behind her when she spots just the blonde she has been searching the crowded platform for.

"Kaelyn!"

"Eva!"

The hickory-eyed girl pushes her way through the crowds towards her best friend of four years, murmuring an apology to a broad shoulder she knocks herself into.

Pushing through the last group of people, the two of them run to each other, and Eva does not hesitate to draw her friend into an embrace.

"I missed you so much," Kaelyn laughs, taken aback by her best friend's excitement.

"I missed you way more," She squeals. Eva hates that. Squeal. She is not some silly school girl, Eva could swear by it, she simply could not contain her pent-up excitement.

The two of them were suddenly thumped forward, as their friend caught them in an embrace, enveloping his lanky limbs around both of their shoulders.

"Adan!"

And though it is only a few, the crew is complete.
