CHAPTER TWELVE:
HOWARD STARK

     "THE FUTURE." EVELYN MOCKED, ROLLING her eyes. Celeste looked at the blonde haired woman and chuckled in amusement as the two stood there, waiting for Steve and Bucky. "What a bunch of bullshit." Evelyn then spotted Bucky, causing her to let out a huff. "Finally."

     "Someone's in a mood today." Celeste said with a smile as the two joined her. Celeste smiled at Bucky, taking a moment to look at him in his uniform. Her heart seemed to slam in her chest at the sight of the man that she had found herself falling for. She placed a hand on his chest, smiling up at him. "Don't you look all dressed up." Bucky smiled at the angel and gave her a kiss on the cheek before wrapping an arm around her shoulders. Celeste refrained herself from widening her eyes, whilst also trying to hide the furious blush that was trying so desperately to crawl up her cheeks, glaring dangerously at Evelyn as the woman smirked.

     "Oh, there was two girl's here waiting for you, but I ran them off." Evelyn suddenly spoke up, shrugging her shoulders as she looked at Bucky. She then looked towards Steve before saying, "Sorry for your date that you were probably going to bail on anyways."

     "Thanks, sis." Steve smiled and Evelyn only smirked in response before hooking her arm with her brother's. Celeste smiled at the two. She loved everything about the relationship between the two siblings. Even if Evelyn claimed to be older, Steve always took it upon himself to try and protect her―︎even if he wasn't able to do so without him himself getting beat up.

     "Welcome to the Modern Marvels Paviliion and the World of Tomorrow. A greater world. A better world." Evelyn mocked every word the announcer spoke and Celeste chuckled in amusement whilst Bucky and Steve just exchanged looks with one another. To say Evelyn didn't believe in things until they happened would be an understatement. They walked throughout the exhibit before a woman's voice grabbed their attention.

      "Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Howard Stark!"

     Howard Stark stepped up onto the stage, a smile on his face as he kissed the woman on the lips that had announced his entrance. Celeste rolled her eyes at the cocky man, leaning her head on Bucky's shoulder as Howard turned towards the crowd, a fancy red car sitting behind of him. "Ladies and gentlemen, what if I told you that in just a few short years, your automobile won't even have to touch the ground at all."

     "I'd call bullshit." Evelyn sarcastically smiled, making Celeste glance towards he in amusement.

     "You're having all the fun in the world, aren't you?" Celeste chuckled.

     Evelyn shrugged her shoulders, crossing her arms over her chest as she said, "Me and the future don't go hand in hand."

     They watched as the wheels were removed from the vehicle and Howard had a small machine placed in front of him, his microphone still in hand. "With Stark robotic reversion technology, you'll be able to do just that." Howard turned a dial before using a lever that allowed for the car to start levitating on its own. Celeste's mouth fell open in slight awe, whilst Evelyn's eyebrows rose in surprise. Humans never failed to amaze the angel.

     "Holy cow." Bucky whispered.

     "Holy cow indeed." Celeste nodded, impressed. But that's when the car started sparking before it slammed down to the ground, causing gasps to burst from the crowd. Though, Howard only smiled at this and shrugged his shoulders.

     "I did say a few years, didn't I?" Bucky and Celeste exchanged amused glances with one another before turning their heads to look towards Evelyn.

     "Well I'll be damned." Evelyn chuckled, clapping along with the rest of the crowd. "Howard might actually be doing something successful for once in his rich life. What do you think, Steve? Think Stark can pull it off?" She turned to look at her brother only to find him no longer standing there. She suddenly panicked, snapping her head around in confusion. "Steve?" This grabbed Bucky's and Celeste's attention, causing the two to look for the Rogers twin only to find him no longer there.

     "I'll go find him." Bucky told Evelyn, nodding his head. The group started making their way out of the crowd, stopping when they managed to stand by themselves comfortably without people pushing them.

     "I'm coming with you." Evelyn sternly told the man, her jaw clenched. "You aren't going to yell at him, so I will."

     "And I will wait outside for you." Celeste spoke and the duo nodded before entering the building in which they knew Steve was in. The angel stood there by herself, her arms crossed over her chest as a gentle breeze ran through the air. She could see the trio talking with one another, with a frustrated Evelyn staring at her brother with her arms crossed over her chest.

The angel frowned slightly. She understood why Steve wanted to do it. Why he wanted to join the army. It was his passion, and he hated sitting around not being able to do a thing about it. And the fact that he was an asthmatic scrawny boy that seemed to get sick every other week certainly didn't help his case. Celeste wished that there was something that she could do to help him, but that wasn't her call to make.

     Celeste glanced up, placing a gentle smile on her lips as Bucky made his way back over to her with Evelyn staying behind an extra few moments in order to talk with Steve. She tightened her arms around her body as she looked at the man. "Is he okay?"

     Bucky sighed, nodding his head. "Steve just being Steve."

     "Listen, if you guys want to stay behind with Steve, we can go dancing another time." Celeste started but that's when Evelyn's voice entered the conversation.

     "Absolutely not." Evelyn denied. "And I'm getting the first dance." She grabbed Celeste's wrist, pulling her away from Bucky who only rolled his eyes before following after the two woman, a small smile of amusement pulling at his lips.
