That I never actually had you...

Time set: Attack Of The Clones

After a few more peacefull minutes of us talking Obi-Wan had joined us once more. Anakin filled us in that Padmé covered the camera's but programmed R2 to warn us about any attempt of murdur once again.

"She's not like the others in the Senate, Master Kenobi." I assured the now worried jedi.

"It's been my experience that Senators are only focused on pleasing those who fund their campaigns...and they are more than willing to forget the niceties of democracy to get those funds." Obi-Wan rambled obviously frustrated.

I wasn't exactly happy that Padmé covered the cameras but I understood her reason. It may be uncomfortable knowing that people are going to be watching you sleep. Though I had to admit that was pretty reckless of her, but that's Padmé after all.

"Not another lecture, Master. Not on the economics of politics..." Anakin groaned making me chuckle.

The three of us then decided to go back to the main room.

"...And besides, you're generalizing. The Chancellor doesn't appear to be corrupt." The boy beside me continued.

"I've observed that he is very clever at following the passions and prejudices of the Senators." Obi-Wan stated.

"I don't really like him, he seems...fishy." I shrugged.

"I think he is a good man. My instincts are very positive about..." Anakin started but stopped mid sentence.

I also felt a shiver down my spine and we all looked at eachother.

"I sense it too." Obi-Wan nodded.

I grabbed onto my lightsaber and ran along the hallways with Anakin and Obi-Wan. Once the door to Padmé's room opened we saw two creatures crawling towards her. I ignited my weapon and sliced one of them while Anakin did the same with the other.

Within a second all I see is Obi-Wan jumping out the window to a droid. We all stared for a second before my mind even focused on what happened.

"Stay here!" Anakin exclaimed to Padmé.

"Did he just jump out the window?" I asked to myself while he dragged me along.

The two of us sprinted down the stairs to a line of speeders. The breeze caught my hair which flew straight into my face, much to my dismay. Anakin stopped for a second to look at the different speeders.

"Anakin, come on. Just pick one, it's not that hard." I mumbled.

He gave me a smile and rushed over to a yellow one. After the two of us jumped in he immediately took of making me hold onto the side in fear. Anakin sped through the trafic in a high speed which made me give out a few shrieks.

"Where is he?" Anakin asked fully turning to me.

"I don't know," I yelled with wide eyes. "And keep your eyes to the front, mister! Your going to kill us in the end!"

He only laughed at me and continued to speed away. I then caught sight of Obi-Wan falling from the sky. Anakin must have seen his master also since he made a dive down making me scream and grab ahold of anything that was near me. As Obi-Wan neared the speeder he held onto the end and climed to the front plopping down, making me sit in the middle.

"That was wacky! We almost lost you in the traffic." Anakin chuckled now slowing down a bit.

"What took you two so long?" Obi-Wan asked after a breath.

"Oh, you know, Master, I couldn't find a speeder I really liked, with an open cockpit... and with the right speed capabilities...and then you know I had to get a really gonzo color..." The boy next to me explained sarcastically.

"You're saying that as if that's not what you actually did." I grumbled.

Suddenly I heard a shot getting fired from a speeder up front. Anakin then went after them in pursuit.

"If you'd spend as much time working on your saber skills as you do on your wit, young Padawan, you would rival Master Yoda as a swordsman." Obi-Wan said after he calmed down from a large turn.

"Oh, I would love to see that!" I let out a laugh. "Being his padawan is hard enough."

"I thought I already did." Anakin replied with a cocky smile.

"Only in your mind, my very young apprentice." The jedi on my right said then yelped after a sharp turn. "Careful! Hey, easy!"

Suddenly Anakin turned a full circle making me once again grab onto something, which at this point was his arm. He took after the assasin who was now only a little before us. That was until they took a sharp turn downwards. I prepared myself for what was about to happen since Anakin flipped the speeder over and started flying straight down.

"Goodness me, I'm going to die!" I screamed in terror.

"Pull up, Anakin! Pull up!" His Master yelled.

He then did as said which let me have a breathe. It didn't take long though until Anakin started chasing the speeder at a high speed again.

"You know I hate it when you do that."

"Sorry Master, I forgot you don't like flying." Anakin grinned looking around.

"I don't mind flying...but what you're doing is suicide!" Obi-Wan lectured him.

"What he said." I added nodding in agreement.

Our speeder continued chasing the one before us through the traffic. We had flown over to a weird area with nobody there just some fire which we had to dodge. The assasin shot a power coupling infront of us making my eyes widen as the purple electricity erupted.

"Anakin! How many times have I told you--" Obi-Wan yelled but was interupted by us flying through it. "That was good!"

After that scene the chase continued and we once again flew into traffic. I watched as the speeder flew into a tunnel but Anakin continued to fly forward.

"Anakin, where are you going? They went that way." I asked as we flew around a corner.

"(Y/N), if we keep this chase going any longer that creep is gonna end up deep-fried...and, personally, I'd very much like to find out who he is and who he's working for." He answered. "This is a shortcut. I think."

Anakin zoomed past even more speeder's along the traffic while looking around. Once we got to a crossroad he stopped and let out a sigh.

"Well, you've lost him." Obi-Wan stated.

"I'm deeply sorry, Master." Anakin replied while looking down.

"Well, that was some kind of shortcut, Anakin. He went completely the other way! Once again you've proved--"

"If you'll excuse me!" He said while jumping out into the air.

"Anakin!" I yelled after him.

"I hate it when he does that." Obi-Wan shook his head.

"Wait! He has done that before?" I asked shocked as I sat in the drivers seat.

"More than I like." He replied with a chuckle.

I looked around and saw the speeder zoom past below us with a certaint someone on top of it. I let out a breath and with a slightly better control over speed I flew after them. Obi-Wan still held onto the side since according to his words my flying is almost as reckless as Anakin's.

Suddenly I saw a bpue flash of light infront of us and some shots fired. Within a second a small object was hurling towards us but with a swift movement I quickly caught it. I handed it to Obi-Wan who let out a few mumbles of frustration. Thats when the speeder at front caught on fire and starting tumbling down.

"Where did they go?" I asked.

"Go to the next street, land there!" Obi-Wan replied pointing.

I took a sharp turn once I saw two figures running in the crowd. I slowly landed the speeder in a free space and we both climbed out rushing after the boy.

"Anakin!" I called out making him stop infront of an entrance.

"She went into that club." Anakin replied.

"Patience. Use the Force, Anakin. Think." Obi-Wan lectured once more.

"Sorry, Master." The young jedi answered.

"He went in there to hide, not run."

"Yes, Master."

"Next time try not to lose it." Obi-Wan continued holding out his lightsaber. "If it wasn't for (Y/N) catching it, I don't know would could of happened."

"Yes, Master." Anakin grabbed the hilt.

"This weapon is your life."

"I try, Master." Anakin grumbled.

I chuckled under my breath and followed Obi-Wan inside alongside Anakin.

"Why do I get the feeling you two are going to be the death of me?" The jedi master sighed.

"Hey, what did I do?" I asked confused.

"Don't say that Master...You're the closest thing I have to a father..." Anakin replied as we arrived to the main room.

"Then why don't you listen to me?"

"I'm trying."

I rolled my eyes at their childish bickering and started to look around. I couldn't find anyone suspicious since I was surrounded by all kinds of citizens.

"Does any of you see him?" I questioned standing on my toes to look over the sea of people.

"I think he's a she...and I think she's a changeling." The boy next to me answered.

"In that case be extra careful...go and find her." Obi-Wan nodded.

The two of us watched him walk into the crowd with furrowed brows.

"Where are you going, Master?" Anakin asked.

"For a drink." He smiled and dissapeared.

I was left beside Anakin as we both blinked from surprise. This type of relationship between a master and a padawan was unusual for me. Master Yoda wasn't exactly like Obi-Wan, he was much stricter.

"Alright, I'll take the right and you take the left." Anakin said after a short silence.

"Okay." I replied.

I let out a breath and started walking into the sea of people. I had one had on my lightsaber, which was attached to my belt, incase something would happen. I passed a group of girls who were giggling while staring at someone. As I followed their eyes I found myself looking at Anakin. I rolled my eyes giving the group a glare and continued my task.

I once again passed a group of people but this time I was stopped by someone grabbing my wrist. I turned around immediately to find myself looking at a boy maybe slightly older than me.

"Can I help you?" I questioned trying to get my hand out of his grip.

"How about I get you a drink?" The boy slurred making me know he was drunk.

"Uh-- I'm good, thank you though." I mumbled.

"Why not?" He asked raising an eyebrow. "Are you here with someone?"

"Actually, she is!" I heard a voice behind me.

At the same time I felt a hand snake around my waist which made me gulp. I knew it was Anakin.

"Oh, sorry, man." The guy backed down and sat on his place again.

Anakin then grabbed my hand and pulled me along for a few seconds until we stopped. He looked down at our hands and quickly let go before meeting my eyes.

"Thank you, Anakin." I smiled up at him.

"It's not a problem. I saw that he was making you uncomfortable and that was the first thing that came to mind." Anakin rambled. "Sorry."

"Oh, it's fine...really." I mumbled scratching the back of my neck.

Our moment was interupted by a light blue flash from the bar. We both snapped our heads in the direction only to see Obi-Wan with an ignited lightsaber. The two of us rushed over and now I could see a woman on the floor clutching her arm in pain.

"Jedi buisness, go back to your drinks." Anakin exclaimed as the citizens turned away.

Obi-Wan kneeled down to the Changeling and helped them up. Anakin and I went back out to the open first while Obi-Wan lowered them onto the ground.

"Do you know who it was you were trying to kill?" He asked while they winced in pain.

"The Senator from Naboo." The changeling answered.

"Who hired you?" The jedi asked again.

"It was just a job." They replied with a glare.

"Who hired you? Tell us." Anakin ordered with a cold stare.

There was only silence.

"Tell us now!" I yelled in their face from frustration.

Obi-Wan gave me a long stare from surprise making me back down. Although Anakin only put one hand on my shoulder trying to calm me down after me yelling.

"It was a Bounty Hunter called..." They started.

There was a sudden 'whoosh' sound and a small breeze flew past my face. The changeling gave out a slight gasp as they slowly died, changing back to their original form. The three of us looked up to the horizon only to see someone fly away.

Obi-Wan took something out of their neck and held it up. It was a dart.

"A toxic dart." I mumbled as he nodded in agreement.

"We must report this to the council at once."

----------------------------

Once it was morning the three of us all went to the jedi temple. With a little wait we have been told that in a few minutes we could go inside. Until then we stayed in the hallway and I watched the ships pass by. Then we were called in and we all walked inside with our cloaks flowing after us.

We bowed in the form of greeting and Obi-Wan quickly filled them in with our experience. The jedi council kept a close eye on us from each direction which made Anakin shift closer to me from nervousness.

"Track down this bounty hunter, you must, Obi-Wan." Master Yoda spoke up.

"Most importantly, find out who he's working for." Mace Windu continued.

"What about Senator Amidala? She will still need protecting." Obi-Wan asked clearly confused.

"Handle that, your and my Padawan will." My Master replied.

"Anakin and (Y/N), escort the Senator back to her home planet of Naboo. She'll be safer there. And don't use registered transport. Travel as refugees." Master Windu stated giving us a look.

"As the leader's of the opposition, it will be very difficult to get Senator Amidala to leave the Capital." Anakin replied while I nodded.

"Until caught this killer is, our judgement she must respect." Master Yoda spoke.

"Anakin, go to the Senate and ask Chancellor Palpatine to speak with her. (Y/N), you go aswell." Mace Windu ended the conversation.

I nodded and the three of us bowed exiting the room. I gave out a breath I didn't know I was holding and looked at the two. Anakin also seemed like a weight was lifted from his shoulders. I won't blame him, council meetings are surely nerve wrecking.

"(Y/N), Anakin, I'm going to stay here. I must speak with Master Yoda myslef. You both know the way to the Chancellor." Obi-Wan told us.

"Of course, Master." Anakin replied.

He gave us a nod with a small smile as we watched him dissapear through the walls. I let out a sigh and turned to Anakin with a cocky smile.

"Race you to the best speeder?" I asked raising my eyebrows mockingly.

"You're on." He answered.

Before Anakin even replied I already darted down the hallway. I laughed to myself as I heard his prostest's from behind me, but they soon turned into hurried footsteps. I sprinted down some stairs and soon heard Anakin only a few meters after me.

"Oh--!" I yelped as I nearly ran into a youngling. "Sorry kiddo."

As I patted the child awkwardly on the head Anakin ran past me. He turned back to face me with a sly grin which made me gasp in mocked shock. I smiled at the youngling once again before rushing after the jedi.

I lifted my hand and tripped him using the force. Anakin slid forwards slightly and looked at me shocked as I ran past him. I let out a loud laugh and saw the main entrance to the temple. As I ran down the flight of stairs Anakin came sprinting past me once more.

"You're awfully slow, (N/N)!" He grinned at me.

I narrowed my eyes at him once I slowed down at the parked speeders. Anakin smiled at me innocently and patted the familiar yellow speeder from yesterday. I smiled slightly and hopped in beside him.

We continued to talk until we reached the senate building. I walked up to the Chancellor's lair with Anakin and waited for him to go in. I decided to stay outside to door incase something would happen.

After about 15 minutes the door opened with a hiss to reveal Anakin and the Chancellor.

"Ah, young (Y/N). It's nice to see you again." Palpatine smiled at me.

"The feeling is mutual, Chancellor." I replied with a fake one.

"You are also becoming a really powerfull jedi, I was just telling Anakin that aswell." He continued. "Far better than Master Yoda."

"Uh, thank you, Chancellor but my Master is the best Jedi there is." I mumbled scratching my neck.

"It was good to speak with you, Chancellor Palpatine, but we must get going now." Anakin said goodbye grabbing my hand.

"Of course, have a safe trip." He replied looking at our hands with a strange glint in his eyes.

I furrowed my brows as I caught his stare but Anakin tugged me along with him. I noticed him glance at our interwined hands a few times which made a small blush appear on my cheeks. Once we were back at the speeder he turned to me.

"I sensed that you were uncomfortable so I decided to go." Anakin told me.

"Yes, I was slightly. Thanks, Anakin." I gave him a smile as we flew into the traffic.

"I noticed that you always call me Anakin and not Ani, ever since we met actually." He continued.

"Oh, well, I have always stuck to first names more than nicknames." I shrugged then turned to him with an evil smile. "Why? Do you want me to call you Ani?"

"No! Definetely not!" Anakin protested with wide eyes.

"Aw-- why not, Ani?" I asked batting my eyelashes.

Suddenly we flew down diagonally which made me let out a scream of terror. Anakin laughed as he pulled back up.

"Do not call me Ani because if you do that's what will happen." He grinned at me.

"Why do you not want me to call you that by the way?" I asked a little confused.

"It makes me feel like I'm a little kid..." Anakin mumbled.

"Oh, I see..." I replied and stayed silent for a few seconds. "Well, Ani, how is it like being the padawan of--"

Once again the speeder flew down at a high pace. I let out a shriek as I glared at Anakin with annoyance.

"I hate you." We both said at the same time which only made us laugh again.
