Right now i need you here...
Time set: The Phantom Menace
(Y/N) Pov.
We were now sitting in the dining room of the small hut. Shmi, Anakin's mum, was kind enough to cook all of us some food. I sat down beside Anakin because he insisted that i should, so i did so. We were talking about a few topics when shmi spoke.
"All slaves have a transmitter in their body somewhere."
"I've been working on a scanner to try and locate mine." Anakin said.
"Any attempt to escape-"
"And it'll blow you up. Boom!" Her son cut her off once more.
"I can't believe there is still slavery in the galaxy." I started while drinking from the cup Shmi handed to me.
"The republic's antislavery rules are-" Padmé spoke as Shmi sat down beside her, across from me.
"The republic doesn't exist out here, we must survive on our own." She said sadly looking at each of us.
Suddenly Jar-Jar shoots his tounge out grabbing a fruit from a bowl. He chewd it loudly making me roll my eyes and all of us glare at him in disgust.
"Has anyone seen a podrace?" Anakin asked breaking the silence.
He glanced at me to see if i did but i only shook my head no. Anakin slid down his seat making his mum look at him.
"They have podracing on Malastar. Very fast and dangerous." Qui-gon stated spiking my intrest to it.
"I'm the only human who can do it." Anakin said proudly.
"You must have jedi reflexes if you can." He answered grabbing Jar-Jar's tounge when he once again tried to eat a fruit, might I say, in a very disgusting way. "Don't do that again."
The gungan tried to pull away from the jedis grasp and soon he let go.
"You're a jedi knight aren't you?" Anakin questioned out of the blue making me snap my head to face him.
"What makes you think that?" Qui-gon asked back simply.
"I saw your laser sword. Only jedi carry that weapon."
"I might have killed a jedi and stole it from him."
"I don't think so, no one can kill a jedi." Anakin stated shrugging.
"I wish that were so." I mumbled from beside him making him glance at me.
"I had a dream that i was a jedi. I came back to free all the slaves. Have you come here to free us?" He asked Qui-gon.
"No, i'm afraid not." The jedi answered.
"I think you have. Why else would you be here?" Anakin furrowed his eyebrows.
"I can see there's no fooling you, Anakin. We are on our way to corcusant, the central system in the republic, on a very important mission." Qui-gon stated drinking from his cup.
"Then how did you end up here, in the outer rim?"
"Our ship was damaged and we're stranded here until we can repair it." Padmé explained.
"I can help! I can fix nearly anything!" Anakin exclaimed eager to prove himself.
"I belive you can. But first we must acquire the parts we need." Qui-gon stated.
"But we don't have any money." Padmé said.
"These junkdealers must have some kind of weakness." I thought out loud.
"Gambling. Everything around here revolves on the bettings on these awful races." Shmi explained turning to me.
"Podracing, greed can be a powerfull ally." The jedi continued looking at us all.
"I built a racer, it's the fastest ever! There's a big race tomorrow on Boonta Eve. You can enter my pod!" Anakin yelled happily.
"Anakin, Watto won't let you." His mother scolded.
"Watto doesn't know I've built it! You make him think it was yours and let me pilot it." He argued back turning to Qui-gon.
"I don't want you to race. It's awful, i die everytime Watto makes you do it."
"But i love it! The prize money would more than pay for the parts they need." Anakin pleaded.
"Anakin." Shmi said sternly.
"Your mother is right. Is there anyone friendly to the republic that could help us?" Qui-gon asked.
"No."
"Mom, you say rhe biggest problem in the universe is that nobody helps eachother." Anakin told Shmi and she let out a sigh.
"I'm sure Qui-gon doesn't want to put your son in danger." Padmé chimed in.
"We'll find some other way." I mumbled.
"No, there is no other way. I may not like it, but he can help. He was meant to help you." Shmi said.
Anakin grinned and felt happieness radiate off him. He turned to us all but when we locked eyes i could sense the pulling again making Qui-gon glance at the two of you.
---------------------------------------
It was the next day and we were all walking to Watto's shop. Qui-gon was leading the way and i was following him beside Padmé. I was worried about the plan we had discussed before. Once we arrived, i could sense the now familiar presence of Anakin, we all stopped outside.
"Are you sure about this? Trusting our fate to a boy we hardly know? The queen will not approve." Padmé asked making Qui-gon turn to her.
"The queen doesn't need to know." He said simply entering the shop.
"The boy tells me you want to sponsor him in the race. How can you do this? Not on the republic credits, i think, huh?" Watto stated as we approached him.
"My ship will be entry free." The jedi answered while Anakin walked over to me smiling.
"Oh, not bad. Not bad." Watto exclaimed.
"It's in good order expect for the parts i need."
"What would the boy ride? He smashed up my pod in the last race. It's going to take a lot of time to fix it." He grumbled looking over at Anakin.
"It wasn't my fault, really. Sebulba flashed me with his vents. I actually saved the pod, mostly." The boy defendes himself.
"Hm, that you did, huh. The boy is good, no doubts there." Watto chuckled.
"I've acquired a pod in a game of chance. The fastest ever built." Qui-gon told him.
"I hope you didn't kill anyone i know for it, huh? So, you supply the pod and the entry fee, and I supply the boy. We split the winnings, 50-50 i think?" He laughed then turned serious.
"If it's going to be 50-50 then i suggest you front the cash for entry. If we win you keep all the winnings, minus the cost of the parts i need. And if we lose you keep my ship. Either way you win." Qui-gon explained.
Watto paced around the room in deep thought. He was grumbling to himself and we just stayed silent watching. I could feel the nervousness of Anakin, standing beside me. Suddenly Watto stopped and turned back to us.
"Deal."
-timeskip-
"So, (Y/N) you know a few things about me but you could tell me something about you too." Anakin said as he fixed a few things on his pod.
"Well what do you want to know?" I chuckled.
"Anything, i have time." He smirked going back to work.
"Okay. Well i'm from Alderaan, i lived there when i was younger. I lost my parents when i was small due to the separatists invading our town." He glanced at me sadly but i just smiled. "I was found by jedi who took me away to corcusant and became one myself. I'm still just a padawan but i hope i'll become a knight someday."
"Wait, you're a jedi too?" He asked dropping a piece he was holding.
"Yes, did i forget to say?" I replied tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"Yeah, you did. But thats so cool! You have a sword too?" Anakin questioned.
"Yeah, i'll show you."
I grabbed my lightsaber, unlatching it from my belt and held it infront of me. I could sense the intrest from Anakin and turned it on. A light blue beam erupted from the hilt making a slight humming sound. I saw Anakin's jaw drop in shock, i twirled it around a few times before turning it off and putting it back to its place.
"Wow, thats awsome. Why does everyone have blue ones? I always heard the have that color from people in the shop." He asked intrested.
"Well, we have other kyber crystal colors but this is the most common ones used by jedi. We also have green, purple, white, yellow. You can imagine the rest, but the red ones are mainly used by sith. They use the darkside of the force, you could see them as the enemy." I explained.
"I see. I wish i could become a jedi, i would help anyone who would need it." He mumbled.
"Oh, if you would know." I whispered to myself.
"What was that?" Anakin asked.
"Nothing, lets get back to fixing this." I smiled and he did aswell.
We both turned back to the pod and i helped him, handing the parts he needed. I could see Qui-gon and Shmi watch us smiling, i grinned to myself, going back to my thoughts.
