                               Worse for the wear...

.

Time set: few days before the clone wars
.

.

(Y/N) POV.

"He's going to be knighted today?" I asked excitedly from Obi-Wan.

"Yes, but keep quiet!" He scolded me for being too loud. "Master Yoda said that we need more knights for the war that is coming closer by the minute."

"Oh..." I mumbled.

The war which started back on Geonosis stopped for a few weeks but my old Master could sense it becoming bigger. He told us to prepare for a much longer war.

"Cal is waiting for you up at training room 3. We need to get you far away from Anakin before you tell him the news. I know how you two are." Obi-Wan narrowed his eyes at me as I grinned at him.

"Of course, Obi-Wan." I replied.

He gave me a smile as I started to walk awway through the huge hall of the Temple. Training room 3 was my favourite because it looked out to Coruscant and there were plants all around the room. It made it much more welcoming.

I skipped my way up a few stairs and saw the door open to the room. I didn't bother to close it behind me since I liked to listen to the other jedi walking around, as weird as it sounds. It just reminded me that I wasn't alone.

"(Y/N)!" Cal's voice interupted me as I turned around to see him in the doorway.

"Hi, kiddo." I smiled as I met him in the middle of the training ground. "Are you ready for a little training?"

"Of course I am! Can I just take a little break? I ran all the way here because I was so excited." He answered while sitting down on the floor.

"You ran. All the way here." I gazed at the ginger boy with a raised eyebrow. "How in the force did you do that? I get tired walking to the council's room from here."

Cal just shrugged with a smile and stood up after a few minutes of sitting. I stayed beside him as we ignited our lightsabers. I would be teaching him some of the more complicated combinations today, because I wanted to give him a little challenge.

I instructed him slowely and made a few corrections on his form as we went through the different stages. Our blue lightsabers moved in sync as Cal got better at the formation.

It was fun being around Cal. He was a nice little kid and I liked training him. He was funny and wasn't annoying like some of the younglings. Thankfully he doesn't run around the Temple as if he owned the place, like some.

"I've started my trials two days ago." Cal told me.

"Wait what?" I turned to him putting the lightsaber back onto my belt. "Aren't you a little too young for that?"

"Master Yoda thought that I was ready." He shrugged.

"Well, I'm proud of you, gingy." I patted him on the shoulder with a huge smile.

I've been training him for the past week since I met him and I couldn't help but feel very proud of him. He has already come a long way since the day we dueled together.

Cal said his goodbye after he tried to do the form from his memory, which he succeeded in. I smiled at him as he left the room, while I fiddled with the necklace around my neck which was hidden beneath my robes. It was something I would never take off since the day I got it.

.

-flashback to five days ago-

.

"Anakin, are we seriously going to Naboo?" I asked him as we made our way to a ship.

"I told you we were going! Did you not listen to me?" Anakin asked back while we boarded.

I shook my head as I picked up the dress a bit before I would face plant onto the metal floor. "No, I did! I just didn't think that you were dead serious."

He gave me a grin as we sat down at a free spot by some windows so we could stare out into space. Anakin told Obi-Wan and the council that we were invited to Padmé's cousins birthday, even though we had no idea who her cousin was.

Even Padmé told them this lie.

In the morning she just randomly arrived to our apartment when I was minding my own business and almost gave me a heart attack. She handed me a yellow dress and left without a word. Padmé definetly knew something that I didn't and it got me really curious.

We were almost at Naboo when I decided to ask Anakin if he was okay. Through out the whole journey on the ship I could see him anxiously check his pocket all the time.

"Anakin, is everything alright?" I asked in concern.

"Yeah, of course! Nothing to worry about, everythings perfectly fine." Anakin gave me a smile but I could see him tapping his leg.

"If you say so." I narrowed my eyes at him.

We continued to talk about whatever topic we brought up as the ship got ready for landing. I still didn't believe him that 'nothing was wrong', he was tapping his leg for hours. It made me actually scared as to why he was so nervous.

The two of us continued our journey down the familiar roads as we made our way to the lakes. The same place from where we went to Padmé's lake house with the speeder. I could see the same man from that time standing beside the docks with a smile on his face.

"Took you long enough! I was beginning to think something happened and you couldn't make it." The elderly man spoke mostly to Anakin.

"Sorry, I'm happy that you agreed to help, sir." He replied as he helped me in the speeder.

"What a gentlemen." I grinned at him.

The man gave us a knowing look and started the speeder. We glided across the water surface smoothly as we passed the house we were once in. I pointed it out with a smile of my own as Anakin brought up our conversation that we had beside the balcony.

I cherished that memory dearly. It was the first time we expressed our true feelings for each other.

How could I ever forget it.

Within a few minutes the scenery of the fields filled my sight and the speeder stopped by a dock. He told Anakin that he will be waiting here even if things go wrong or right which made me raise an eyebrow at him.

This was getting weirder by the second.

Anakin led me by my hand to the same spot in the meadow were we were last time and after putting down a blanket we sat down. He took out some smaller foods that he brought with himself and we started munching on them.

"I remember when you scared the living hell out of me after you fell off that weird animal." I laughed at the memory.

"Oh, yeah. I still remember the face you made when you turned me around." Anakin chuckled.

"Well, I'm telling you! I was absolutely terrified, I thought you actually got hurt." I told him.

He laughed and I could see him getting nervous again. I put my hand on his own and he looked at me as he took a deep breath in. His other hand was clutching something in his pocket while he turned to fully face me.

"Anakin? What's going on?" I asked in confusion from his behaviour.

"(Y/N), I know we agreed to take things slow but I just can't wait any longer." Anakin said with a gulp.

"What are you talking about?" I replied studying his face.

He let out some air and continued on. "From the moment I met you on Tatooine when we were little I just knew that you were special to me. You made me feel wanted in the universe even though I was a pathetic slave. The way you made me feel welcome in the order and how you always smiled in my way made my heart flutter even then. And when I saw you again after years when we were assigned to protect Padmé I was just left there completely baffled. You became even more beautifull and I tried to not make it obvious but you figured it out really quickly. When we shared our first kiss by the balcony I just knew that I wanted nothing more than to be by your side, even if that meant that we would be breaking the code. You quickly became my best friend. You're the kindest, happiest person I know and you make me laugh so hard that even my stomach hurts, especially when we have our little arguements like yesterday, and you comfort me in my most vulnerable states. I love you so much, (Y/N) and I am so lucky to have you with me." Anakin ranted.

I could feel tears already flowing down my face as I listened to his words. Some of them made me laugh, some made me blush but my reaction was mostly tears of happiness. Anakin was still tapping his foot nervously as he spoke but I already knew my answer to the question he was probably going to ask.

Anakin looked over at my face and pulled out a necklace with a ring on it. "(Y/N), will you marry me? I know it's not really a normal ring but if it was on your finger the order would probaly notice it and I--"

I interupted his rambling by pressing my lips on his and pulling away after a few seconds. I could see the hope in Anakin's eyes from my reaction while I smiled at him even through my teary eyes.

"Of course I will, Anakin." I replied.

"You will?" He asked back in disbelief but a huge smile formed on his face.

I nodded and I could see a single tear drop from his eye too. I turned around as he put the necklace around my neck and once Anakin did that he gave me the biggest hug.

I hugged back immediately while I cried into his shoulder. This was the best moment in my entire life. "I hope those are happy tears."

"Yeah, don't worry they are." I laughed as I pulled away. "I probably look so horrendous right now."

Anakin chuckled as he wiped some of the tears away. "You will always be beautiful in my eyes, even when we both get old."

"You want to grow old with me?" I asked him.

"Of course I do!" He answered which made me almost ball my eyes out again.

The two of us continued to talk about how our future could look like. It was such a fun thing to think about and then look back from then to see what stupid things we thought we would do.

I was still shocked that we were actually getting married but it was like a dream come true. I suspected that this day had something to do with our relationship but the thought of Anakin proposing never crossed my mind. I wanted nothing more than to live the rest of my life with him till death would do us apart.

Our conversation even wandered away to the thought of us having a family. We both got to the conclusion that we would have twins, since Anakin wanted a boy while I wanted a girl. The names however, that was pure chaos.

"If it would be a girl I'd want to call her Leia." I told him.

"Yeah, but we would have a boy anyway because I said so. His name would be Luke." Anakin replied picking up a flower and putting it in my hair.

He randomly started picking up blossoms from the ground and continued to put them in the braids in my hair. I did the same to his and soon our heads looked like a whole garden.

"No, Leia." I turned to face him.

"Luke."

"Leia!"

"Luke!" Anakin folded his arms across his chest.

I gave him a look and did the same. "L. E. I. A."

"Jar Jar!" He threw his hands up in the air with his infamous laugh.

"There's no way I'd let you name a kid that, Anakin." I smiled and shook my head. This man was so stupid sometimes.

"Why not? Jar Jar Skywalker has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?" I stared at him for a second before hitting him on the arm. "Ow!"

I laughed at him as he totally over dramatised the pain and layed onto his back. He clutched his hand over his 'wound' and rolled away into the grass.

I watched him get further and further into the meadows and I decided to roll after him. We were laughing all along like we were simply teenagers without a care in the world around us. It was like there was no war, we weren't jedi, only simple people in the galaxy.

Even though I was really happy in this moment I still couldn't wash over the worry of the council finding out. I didn't worry about the fact that they would kick us out of the order, it was the mystery of what would come after it. There was a war coming and we were ordered to take part in it.

I truly didn't understand why the jedi had to fight. Weren't we supposed to keep the peace in the galaxy? It's like we're going against our code either way. The senate dragged us with them to join the war. I was worried for all the young, unexperienced jedi who are going to be knighted. They have no idea what to do. I have no idea.

As if Anakin could sense my mood change, he stopped in the grass and sat up straight.

"Are you okay?" He asked with concern lacing his tone.

I gave a small nod back. "I'm just worried about the war. We have no idea what to do, and they're knighing padawan's each day without them being trained all the way."

Anakin pulled me closer to him as I layed my head on his chest. "It will be okay. The war might be something terrifying, but they don't last forever."

"I guess you're right... It'll all be okay." I sighed as I grabbed the ring around my neck.

.

-back to the present time-

.

I shook my head as I smiled at the memory once more before walking out of the training room. I decided to stay in the temple until Anakin would get knighted because I wanted to se his reaction. I waited by one of the rooms where I could watch the younglings train.

As I was about to sit down someone bumped ino me making me almost fall over.

"I''m so sorry!" A feminine voice said quickly.

I turned around to see a small togruta bowing her head as she continued to apologise.

A small chuckle left my lips. "It's alright, it happens."

"I should've looked around." She replied before looking up finally. "Oh my god! You're (Y/N) Kothari!"

"Not again..." I mumbled under my breath before smiling again. "Yeah...that's me. You are?"

"Ahsoka, Ahsoka Tano!" The togruta answered with a grin of her own as she shook my hand.

I saw a padawan braid in her hair which made me think who her master could be. I was about to reply to her when I saw a patch of red hair come towards us.

Cal ran towards us as he stopped once he reached the other jedi. "Ahsoka! I've been looking for you everywhere! I thought you said you'd wait for me."

"I'm sorry, I forgot." Ahsoka replied while Cal shook his head with a dissapointed frown. "It was nice to meet you, (Y/N)!"

"You too!" I yelled after them.

The two of them started walking to one of the training rooms where they probably had a class. I could hear Cal scolding Ahsoka for forgetting about him as if he was the older one. They acted quite like siblings would. That thought made me think of Jaster and how we barely had a childhood.

I sighed as I finally sat down by the window and watched the younglings train. For some reason it always gave me peace if I could watch others train.

I made myself comfortable and grabbed the lightsaber from my belt. It wasn't my own which reminded me that I would need to build a new one soon. I had this new one ever since Jaster threw it to me on Geonosis but it felt wrong.

As I was about to get up from the bench to go meditate a bit someone barged out of the elevator to the council room. I didn't even need to guess who it could be.

"(N/N)!" Anakin yelled in a hurry.

"I can never have a moment of peace..." I muttered to myself with an eye roll.

Anakin finally caught up to me and started flapping his padawan braid in my face with a huge grin. I couldn't help but smile at his excitement. It was how I felt too when I was knighted before realising the reason I was.

I let out a laugh. "Could you please stop shoving your hair in my face?"

"Sorry." Anakin replied before continuing his rant. "I've been knighted! Like right now! Can you believe it? I was literally so shocked, I haf no idea. Obi-Wan said that I was only going to the council because I did something stupid again."

I grinned at him. "That might have been my idea..."

Anakin gave me an unimpressed look. "Are you serious? My life flashed before my eyes when he said that!"

I let out a nervous chuckle while he continue to study me with a warning gaze. I saw Obi-Wan come into the hallway too but once his eyes met us his smile vanished. I could just imagine him knowing that something chaotic was about to happen.

Just like I thought Anakin stepped forward and I immediately toon off in the opposite direction.

"Congrats by the way!" I shouted to him as I rounded the corner.

Anakin came running after me in a second. "I'm mad at you right now!"

The two of us continued sprinting down the hallways of the temple. We even somehow turned around completely and ran by Obi-Wan who still stood in the same place where we last saw him. He yelled after us to stop but my I was running for my life so there was no chance for that.

Obi-wan continued to stare after us before shaking his head and pinching his nose. "Never a moment of peace."
