Right after The Avengers split up, thunder rumbles. Lightning strikes down onto a near tower, the one Thor has gone to. Summoning the lightning with his hammer, he sends the bolts of electricity to the portal. Before running out of power, the lightning destroys everything that comes close to exiting and entering.

At another rooftop, Clint looks down at the streaming flow of Chitauri Soldiers as he fires his arrow, hitting every target. "Stark," he notices, "you got a lot of strays sniffing your tail."

"I'm just trying to keep them off the streets."

"Well, they can't bank worth a damn," Clint calls, aiming his bow behind him. He fires another arrow without looking, and even then he can't seem to miss. "So, find a tight corner."

"I will roger that." Tony makes a turn, flying past the building Clint is sniping from. One of his arrows contains a flashing red right, which seems to slowly melt the alien vehicle when hitting its target. As their machine of transformation tumbles to the ground, the riders prepare themselves to jump off before it can hit the ground. But before they are able to, Tony closes the gap between himself and the Chitauri. Shooting a beam, he manages to explode the scooter and its rider. The Iron suit speeds through the city, maneuvering through the refined streets, which leads for some Chitauri Riders to crash into walls. "Oh boy..." Tony mumbles as he spots the two remaining creatures on his tail. He makes a sharp turn into an indoor parking lot, trying to shake them off. Managing to get back outside without any scratches, he makes another sharp turn right before crashing into the wall of another structure. The Chitauri, who try to keep the distance low, are too late to spot this and crash right into it. "Nice call," he says to Clint but is mainly complimenting himself about his performance, "what else you got?"

"Thor is taking on a squadron down on Sixth."

"And he didn't invite me," Tony responds, acting all hurt as he flies off.

Down the street, Natasha is getting slammed onto the hood of a car by one of the beings. The creature raises its rifle at her, trying to stab her as it slams down, but she manages to roll away just in time. Swiftly turning around, she wraps her legs around its armed neck and smashes her hand into the crook. She activates the taser in the fabric around her wrist. The electronic shocks stun the alien, giving her the time to unarm it and she fires the energy rifle before it can make a move. In a flash she spins back around, directing the rifle at Hunter and Steve, who holds up his shield as his instinct kicks in. Lowering the weapon, Natasha breathes heavily as she stumbles back.

"Captain," she breathes, "none of this is going to mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal." They all turn their attention to the giant hole in the sky.

"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it," Steve answers.

"Well, maybe it's not about guns."

"If you want to get up there, you're going to need a ride."

"I got a ride," she tells, throwing away the rifle as she backs up. Both Hunter and Steve look up to the flying chariots, knowing what she means. "I could use a boost though." As Steve backs up, Hunter steps away to clear her path and watches as Steve readies his shield.

"Are you sure about this?"

"Yeah," Natasha answers casually, "it's going to be fun." She looks around, waiting for the right moment to let Cap launch her into the air. Spotting a lift, she turns back to the men. "I'll see you two later," she tells, assuring Hunter. Steve gets in position as she runs up to him. She gives herself a small boost by putting her feet down on the car before jumping onto the shield. As she does, Steve stretches his legs and pushes the shield as far in the air as possible. Holding out her hand, she manages to grab the bottom of the flying vehicle and hold onto it as it takes her. Watching her, both men let out a sigh in relief when the invaders surround them.

"Look who we got here," Hunter calls out, reloading his handgun. A high-pitched zooming enters Steve's ears and he gets ready to shield himself and Hunter from an attack. Hunter's eyes peer above the shield and he rests the barrel of his gun on its edge. The booming sound of a gunshot sounds above the rest, making Steve lift his head and he gawks at the scene. The agent steps underneath his shield, now completely uncovered as he shoots at his targets, exclaiming: "Are you gonna help me or what?" The Captain tightens the grip on his shield as he runs towards the group of aliens, knocking them down.

The two of them are being joined by Tony as they fight, the Iron Suit sending blasts from its hand boosters. He holds up his hands at Steve, who raises the shield as the beam leaves his hands. The beam of energy reflects against the shield, taking down some of the soldiers. He then takes off, flying up close to the building and taking down Chitauri's in the process.
