πππβAgent and God Team-Up
Smoke enters the Laboratorium and slowly fills Hunter's lungs, making him cough as he looks up from the spot he faceplanted. His ears ring and his vision is blurry due to the tears the smoke caused. A few vague voices sound through the room, but the ringing makes it impossible to identify them. Suddenly, a strong hand grabs his arms and pulls him to his feet. He recognizes the person by his long blond hair.
"We need to get out of here!" he hears the god vaguely yell. Thor steadies him as they head towards the exit and Hunter shakes his head lightly.
"What about the others?" he asks.
"The Captain and Man of Iron already left," Thor tells, "I believe the Doctor and Agent Romanoff fell into the hole the explosion created."
"Shit," Hunter mutters under his breath. He pushes Thor's supporting hands away and quickens his pace.
"Where are you going?" he questions, yelling, "you may be wounded!"
"I am fine," the agent declares.
"But you're human," Thor states, "humans get wounded easily." Hunter comes to a halt, turning to the blond god with a serious expression on his face.
"No one is injured, yet," he announces, "but everyone on this airship will if you keep dawdling."
"What are you talking about? I assume S.H.I.E.L.D. is prepared for sudden explosions."
"You don't get it, do you?" Hunter exclaims, "this is all part of your brother's plan! The fight was to distract us from the bomb and the explosion is to turn one of our own against us!" Thor's eyebrows furrow and his eyes narrow at him. "You don't know who Banner is yet," Hunter begins, "but he will be the one to destroy everything and everyone on the Helicarrier if we don't get to him in time!"
"What are we waiting for then?!" Thor questions loudly, passing him.
"You!" he calls out, following him in frustration.
"What lies beneath the Lab?"
"The equipment room... This way." He makes a sharp turn, leaving the god at the other end of the hall. Thor turns around swiftly, following the agent around the corner. The corridor leads to a staircase, the two of them almost running into two S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents who both look like they've seen a ghost.
"Do not go down," one of them suggests while panting as they run past the agent and god. Thor turns his gaze to the agent next to him, whose eyes are now focused on the stairs in front of them.
"You are crazy, mortal."
"If it weren't for my craziness, there would be a hundred percent chance that everyone on this aircraft dies," Hunter tells as he makes his way down the stairs, "besides you and your brother of course."
"As a matter of fact, Loki and I are not-" Thor begins, but a loud uproar interrupts him. They rush down the stairs, seeing the destruction Bruce has caused. The blond turns his head around the corner, shocked by the green monster a few feet away. "By Odin's beard, what is that?"
"That is Doctor Banner," the black-haired man answers, "I need you to distract him while I get Agent Romanoff out of there."
"That isn't a Doctor," Thor states, "that is a beast."
"You have fought beasts before, right?" Hunter questions.
"Yes, but-"
"Then you'll be fine." He looks back to find Natasha on the floor, the green creature hovering above her. "Any time now Thor," he speaks up, watching how 'Bruce' lifts his arm to strike again. All of the sudden, something zooms past Hunter and throws the green man through the wall. Hunter waits until the Hulk's attention turned to Thor before running up to Natasha. "Let's get you out of here," he tells her. The sudden sound of his voice startles the red-headed agent, but she calms back down as quick as she was spooked. She nods shakily, letting the man pull her to her feet. He throws her arm around her neck and supports her to the staircase. When they get far enough from the fight, Natasha slowly lowers herself to the floor.
"Thanks," she whispers, but her voice is being softened by the voice of Nick in their earpieces.
"It's Barton, he took out our systems," the director starts, "he's headed for the detention level. Does anybody copy?" Hunter watches Natasha swallow away the lump in her throat, her fingers touching her earpiece.
"This is Agent Romanoff and Agent Black," she speaks, "we copy." She gets up, almost jumping to her feet, setting a step in the direction of the Detention Section, but she's being stopped by her teammate. "What are you doing?"
"This is dangerous," he claims, "Barton is the reason Bruce turned into a killing machine, who was going to get you killed."
"But he didn't," she informs.
"Thanks to Thor and me," he reminds.
"Agent Barton is nothing compared to The Hulk," she declares, "but if we don't get him now, we might never will. As I said, I owe him a debt. Either you have my back or stay out of it." With those words, she walks away from him
"You're a pain in the ass," he grunts after a few seconds, following.
"Then why do you always follow me around?"
