3400 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀
𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗗𝗜, 𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗤

I laid at my cover watching over the Marines as they went house to house searching for Abdul, who was known as the right hand to Keram.

"Wait, I have movement..." I said into my radio as I watched a Mother and Daughter appear from an alley about 100 yards away from the Marine team and tank on the floor

"It's your call, Captain." Admiral Louis said lowly as I watched the Mother handed her child an RPG causing the kid to begin running toward the soldiers.

I then exhaled before taking the shot dropping the little girl, causing the Mom to run over, and instead of comforting her child as I thought she would, she grabbed the grenade and began running toward the men.

I then took my next shot, dropping her just as she weakly threw the bomb a few feet in front of her causing it to blow and the soldiers on the ground to take cover before realizing it was a false alarm.

"Hell of a shot, Captain!" Admiral Louis said causing me to ignore him as I muted my end of the radio and signaled Ross to take my position

I then sat against the wall on the far left of the room and felt my eyes water causing me to quickly wipe them.

𝙁𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝙔𝙀𝘼𝙍𝙎 𝘼𝙂𝙊

I looked over at Dinah and watched as the little girls of this town smiled and played with her hair while some held her hand.

The Afghani terrorists had shaken these people to their core. It took days for our Seal team to get the citizens to even come out from their homes.

Even though we gave them our oath that we were going to care for and protect them it wasn't enough to keep them from believing the terrorists were lurking in the hills nearby.

That's until instead of me, Banks, Ross, Boone, Franks, and Houston going in to talk to them Dinah went in unarmed and we stayed outside to watch the perimeter, although, I didn't want that to happen.

And then from what I heard this four-year-old little girl just grabbed onto Dinah and the rest was history.

"She's beautiful, isn't she?" Boone asked me as we all just watched

"Yeah." The guys answered as I did causing me to look over at them with an eyebrow raised

"You all do know that she's my wife right?" I asked causing them to laugh

"We are aware, we just don't care," Ross said causing me to flick him off

"You won, you got her and go home with her, we can at least say she's beautiful," Franks replied causing me to roll my eyes

One of the little girls then slowly made their way over to us due to the fact her ball had rolled and stopped in front of us causing me to pick it up.

"Come on, sweetheart, I promise I'm harmless," I said to her causing her to fully make her way over and grab the ball before running back over to Dinah

My wife then smiled at me and looked at the girl who had just run away from us before she gently lifted her into her arms and motioned for the children to follow her with a few unheard words.

"It's okay they're not going to hurt anyone...this is my family," Dinah said as stopped in front of us with the kids

One by one the kids then began warming up to us as Dinah sat next to me with the little girl that seemed to be bound to her.

"Hesther this is my husband, Colton." She said before kissing my cheek causing the girl to smile

"See, sweetheart, he's harmless..." Dinah said as she grabbed my hand gently

I then smiled at Hesther as she giggled and reached her arms out toward me causing me to let her slip into my arms.

Dinah then smiled at us and leaned her head on my shoulder as Hesther began playing with her hair.

I then looked at the guys who were playing with the kids before looking back at my wife and the child in my arms.

Damn, I really want kids.

"What's going on, Colton?" Boone asked as he sat beside me

"Everything...I mean I watch so-called Mothers and fucking Fathers hand their children grenades to kill. I mean, I just had to kill a fucking child! A little girl! And now that my wife's pregnant I can't see past this shit anymore, because I can't help but ask myself 'What if that was my wife and kid?'." I said angrily as I placed my hands on my face stressfully

"I'm going to talk to Admiral tonight about getting you home sooner if possible...this is the last place you need to be...you need to be with your wife and baby." He replied with a sigh

"Take a break, come back when you're ready. We roll out of here at dawn." He then concluded just as my field phone began to buzz lowly

I quickly picked it up knowing it was my wife and said, "Hey, baby"

'Hey, Mushy.' She replied sleepily

"You okay? You sound sick" I asked beginning to get worried

'Nah, Doctor says I'm good and healthy. But our baby has got me sleeping almost all day and eating everything in sight.' She replied causing me to smile as my eyes watered

"I miss you" I then blurted almost able to feel her smile through the phone as she said, 'I miss you too, baby.'

"I'm ready to come home to you and our life...I can't do this anymore, Dinah, you were right and I'm so sorry." I then said finally letting the tears escape my eyes as I broke down

'Baby, wait, what's wron-' Dinah then said before the connection cut and the phone hung up causing me to lean my head against the wall as I cried

"I love you," I said lowly while wiping my eyes
