𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗚𝗢, 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗔

"How was your first do-it-yourself session of our marriage?" I asked with a laugh watching Colton's very agitated expression as he walked back to our bed

"Amazing." He replied sarcastically causing me to laugh harder as he slipped into bed and laid his arm around my waist before gently poking my belly

"I am excited to see you, son." My husband mumbled as he gently kissed my stomach

I then laughed lowly before shimming my hand through his hair causing it to all fall in his face and him to move it back.

"Yeah, Mommy's abusive, son, she likes to pull and tug on my hair, bite and scratch me," Colton said with a laugh as he sat up and began to massage my feet while I laughed at his statement

"Why do you want a son so bad? I always thought you'd want a girl more." I asked

"I do want a girl. But I just feel that having a son, he can be the one that I can trust with Max to look after his younger siblings and you if need be for whatever reason. And I feel like I would be able to finally give him what I...what me and Chase didn't have growing up." He replied

"Chase was mixed right?" I then asked in a low tone

"Yeah. My Mom met his Dad during the first and last time she took me and tried to escape for good. And things were great for the next two years, they fell in love and she had Chase. And for the first time I genuinely felt as a six-year-old child I had someone in my life I could call a Dad. Then my Father caught up to us." He replied trying to be as toneless as possible

"Colton, you don't-" I began to say before he cut me off and said, "Yes, I do."

He then took a deep breath and said, "He killed him and even tried to kill her..." He then chuckled without meaning as silent tears began falling from his eyes before he continued, "And all I can seem to remember was all the fucking blood, him standing over my Mother as she tried to save the man she had fallen in love with and me holding on to my baby brother for dear life as he cried to the top of his lungs."

"Oh my God..." I said lowly with my hand clamped softly against my mouth as my husband began to wipe his eyes which were consistently running with tears

I then found myself rushing into his arms and hugging him as tight as I possibly could while beginning to cry with him as I held him in my arms.

I did want to know about Colton's past, but I never knew it was this traumatic. But now I can see why he was trying to bury it so deep and forget it all. I can't relate to anything he's been through. All the losses he's suffered and what he's seen from a young age is awful.

I was the complete opposite. I grew up in Colorado with a functional loving family that had both parents who were willing to do whatever for me, Nalen, Evie, and Theo.

"Baby, I'm so sorry." I said causing him to shake his head as he said, "You have nothing to be sorry about. If I was you, I'd probably want to know too. It's just some things about your past no matter how much you love someone it's hard to tell them."

"No, but I made you feel like I was going to leave about not telling me," I replied

"No, sweetheart, you made that threat because I decided to go back on deployment despite your wishes for me not to. Which hurt, but was understandable." Colton replied with a low laugh as he took a deep breath

"I was just upset," I replied as I wiped his eyes and cheeks gently with my sleeve

"I know." He replied

"I worry about you, baby." I then said with a sigh

"I know." He replied once more before kissing my forehead and wiping my eyes with the pads of his thumbs

I then leaned my head softly against his and rested my hands on his chest gently causing him to lean forward and kiss my lips.

"I wanna make love to you, but you're in trouble." I then said lowly as I pulled away slowly before gently rubbing my thumb over his cheek

"Your hormones are all over beautiful." He replied with a low laugh

"That's because you got me pregnant!" I said beginning to laugh with him

"I do vividly remember you not letting me pull out a few times..." He then replied causing me to punch his shoulder

"No comment" I rebutted before turning away and laying down causing him to follow and gently bite my leg

"Colton Austin Andrews!" I snapped causing him to laugh loudly

"That's for when I'm in trouble, any other time you love that!" He said in his defense as Sky and Max climbed onto our bed

Sky then began howling at him causing me to laugh and him to grab her and begin shaking her as he said, "You talk to me like this again you will be in a dog kennel, outside!"

"No, she won't." I then replied as Max laid on my chest leaving me to rub his head

"And you need to move, that's my spot!" He said as he sat Sky down and moved over to where I laid, carefully dragging Max off of me

"Colton, what are you going to do when our kids want to cuddle with me if you can't handle Max and Sky doing it?"

"No comment." He replied mocking my words from a few minutes back

"I hate you!" I said jokingly with a pout that followed causing him to softly slip on top of me before gently kissing my lips

"You hate me?" He asked looking at me with his stupid little smolder face that makes me melt each time

"Boy if you don't leave me alone!" I replied as I placed my hands on his cheeks causing him to laugh

"Why are you pulling me closer if you want me to leave you alone?" He then asked causing me to push him away

"No, wait, stop playing!" My husband yelped causing me to laugh as I kissed his nose

"Dinah, I don't see why this is such a big deal to you, of course, I want a baby girl after a boy," Colton said as I pouted

"No! You keep speaking of this son before I know it I'm going to be pushing out a big-headed baby boy that looks like his Father!" I rebutted causing him to laugh as the sun began to peek through our blinds indicating that we had talked all night

"Listen, I promise when we get that girl I'll send you two off to shop and have spa and nail days every week." He then said causing me to roll my eyes and smile

"Fine! But, what's up with all these big-headed babies you want me to give birth to?" I said in defeat as we began to laugh

"Dinah, baby, your head isn't the smallest so it wouldn't just be my fault." He replied causing me to stick my middle finger up at him as we laughed harder

"Can you promise me something please?" Colton asked in a serious tone as our laughter calmed

"What?"

"Promise if I leave and come back different mentally you'll help me find myself again please..." He said after taking a deep breath

"Why would that happen?" I then asked as I played with his hair

"Because it happened the tour before I met you, you were able to bring me back...So I'm begging you to please do it again if need be." He answered as he leaned his forehead against mine

"I promise" I replied while gently rubbing my thumb against his cheek

"I'm not telling you this to scare you but I know when I hit the ground you'll be the only thing I'll need." My husband then said as he pulled back and slipped off his wedding band, slipping it on my finger

"I love you." I then before he pressed his lips against mine
