𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗚𝗢, 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗔

"Jesus, look at how your husband looks at you girl!" Veronica said causing me to smile as I looked over at Colton who was slowly drinking from a champagne glass and gazing at me with a slight smirk as him and the guys surrounded each other

"He always does that," I said looking back over at him with a small smile

"That's a baby-making look...soo how's it going?" She teased causing me to laugh and say, "We are definitely working...and the time spent putting in the work is definitely something."

"Tell me something I don't know." She said with a laugh as Colton made his way over to where I stood

"Hello ladies," Colton said with a smile keeping his eyes on mine

"Hello," Ronnie said with a low laugh

"Hi, baby," I said looking up at him, not breaking our eye contact

"You mind if I steal this beautiful woman from you for a dance?" Colton then asked Veronica while keeping his eyes on mine before looking over at her for a split second resulting in her laughing lowly

"Knock yourself out!" She replied causing him to gently grab my hand as I smiled

"May I?" Colton said with a smile making me nod "Yes" and slowly rise up

"God, you're gorgeous!" My husband said as we made our way over to the slow-paced dance floor

"Calm down, Captain, wouldn't want my husband to know you're trying to do things you shouldn't to his wife." I teased as he smirked lowly

"Husband, hmm?" He asked as he slipped his hands onto my waist

"Mmhmm."

"That's a damn shame...I guess he's just going to have to deal with the fact that when I get you home tonight I'm going to do things he never could." Colton replied while casually shrugging his shoulders causing me to smile lowly as I wrapped my arms around his neck

"You're a mess." I then said as we slowly rocked to the beat of the music

"I'm your mess." He replied kissing my forehead gently

"You know the first time I told you I loved you went sorta like this...minus the formal attire and atmosphere of course." My husband said causing me to think about that night in that bar

"You were so nervous," I said beginning to laugh lowly before gently placing my head against his firm chest

"I know you don't believe it, Mrs. Andrews, but you can be a very intimidating person." He replied while making sure to keep me held close

"Whatever," I said with a slight laugh

"You feeling alright?" He then asked causing me to nod as I pulled away slightly to face him with a smile

"Yes," I replied before pressing my lips against his

Colton then deepened the kiss causing me to smile a bit before he pulled away looking at me and slightly biting his lip.

"Stop!" I whined lowly

"Why?" He asked

"You know how weak that makes me!" I rebutted with a little laugh causing him to smile and run his finger slightly under the tip of my chin

"Captain Andrews!" A man then happily said causing Colton to turn and face the man who was walking up to us

"Vice Admiral Hill!" Colton replied causing me to mentally laugh at the fact his tone is shadowing the fact he was a bit upset our moment was ruined

"This is the wife?!" He then said with bulging surprised eyes

"The one and only," Colton replied while smiling at me

The man then gently grabbed my hand and said, "Let me just say you are gorgeous and I see why the Captain here is such a happy man!"

I then laughed lowly in response before saying, "Thank you!"

"It's no problem, beautiful; And can I see you in the private room for a second? The rest of your team is already there and waiting, we just need you to complete the circle!" He said causing Colton to nod

"Let me get my wife back to her table and then I'll be there sir," Colton said causing him to nod

"We're giving him back, I promise!" He then said as he began to walk away causing us to laugh lowly

"Go ahead, I'll make it back, baby." I then said as I placed my hand on his chest

"You sure? Because they can wait" He asked causing me to nod and press a kiss against his lips

"Go ahead," I said softly

"I'll be right back baby." He then said before I nodded and we parted ways

I then made the short walk back to the table seeing Veronica wasn't sitting there anymore which most likely meant she went to get food.

Once I sat at the table all I hoped was for whatever the guys had to talk about with the other officers went by fast but time didn't seem to want to work on my side.

"Mrs. Andrews! How are you?!" A voice said causing me to slightly turn to the side and see it was Colton's Admiral with a smile and a bottle of wine

"I am good, how about you?!" I replied as he sat next to me

"Great! Great!" He said

"Would you like a drink?" He then asked

"Sure!" I said trying not to make this situation awkward

He then poured us a glass each and asked, "How's home life with my favorite Captain?"

"It's going great actually" I replied as he handed me the glass causing me to take a little sip

"I heard you guys are trying for a baby, any luck?" He then asked

"Not yet, but we are hopeful!" I replied with a smile

"Can I just tell you something?" He said as he placed his hand on mine

I then nodded awkwardly as he said, "I just want you to know how much me and the other officers adore your husband. Andrews is a true soldier. Even, after all that happened in the past with his brother, Chase, he still is pushing forward and going back on deployment when the time comes to serve and protect."

I then made a slightly puzzled expression before saying, "Brother?"

"Yes, Colton, had a brother that served on the same team with him that unfortunately passed about eleven years ago in the line of duty." He answered

"Oh, yes, my mind went blank for a second. I apologize." I rebutted trying to play off the embarrassment I was facing from the fact that I didn't know about this and was lied to again

"It's all good, we all have our moments, huh?" He said with a little chuckle causing me to laugh along with him

"Did Colton ever put in his orders to move into reserve?" I then asked

I was beyond pissed and hurt. Colton has a streak of lying to me about big things and blindsiding me with them when he can't hide it anymore, therefore, I wouldn't doubt he's lying to me about putting in his new orders.

"He did. But he's going back to Iraq for about two months next week and then he's moving into reserve." His Admiral told me causing me to bite my lip as I scoffed lowly

"My mind is just forgetting everything tonight. I'm going to excuse myself, thank you for the drink, Admiral Louis!" I said happily causing him to nod

"Thank you for having such an amazing husband and your service as well Lieutenant Commander!" He replied causing me to smile and I began making my way to the bathroom

My heart was in aching pain.

He lied to me about something big once again after promising he'd never do it again.

And he was going to Iraq in a week.

As I made it down the empty long stretched hallway I couldn't help but place my hand against my chest letting tears fall from my eyes.

I then pushed the door to the bathroom open seeing no one was in before feeling a burning sensation build in the back of my throat causing me to make my way into one of the stalls before pulling my hair back and beginning to throw up in the toilet due to the fact this situation was making me sick.

I then leaned back up taking a deep breath as I began to sob at the fact I was currently in pain that no physical one could dare match.

Wiping my mouth, I then flushed the toilet and made my way out of the stall going to wash my hands before rinsing my mouth and chewing a tiny mint.

I wanted to go home. This was now the last place I wanted to be.

I then made my way out of the bathroom and found a back exit that I made my way out of as I continued to cry before seeing Boone standing outside talking to a lady.

I then wiped my eyes and walked over to him and said, "Hi, I'm sorry for interrupting but can I please speak with him for a second?"

Boone then nodded and said, "Sure, Dinah, I'll be right back Casie."

The lady then smiled as she began to walk off and said, "It's all good! Take your time."

"Dinah, are you okay?" Boone then asked causing me to nod 'no' as I just let the tears begin to pour from my eyes

"What's wrong?" He then asked gently placing his hand on my shoulder

"Did Colton have a brother?" I then asked causing his expression to go blank

"Dinah, I don't th-" He began to say before I cut him off and asked again in a sharper tone, "Did Colton have a brother?"

"Yes," Boone answered causing me to laugh sarcastically

"And are you guys going back to Iraq next week?" I then asked causing Boone to sigh and say, "Yes."

I then felt my heart shatter in response to that final answer causing me to turn and slightly walk away as I began to cry harder.

"He was going to tell you." Boone then said causing me to turn and say angrily, "That he had a brother or the fact he was going back to Iraq after promising me that he wasn't going back!?"

"Boone, can you please take me home?" I then asked after taking another deep breath

"Yeah." He answered simply knowing he couldn't save him from this

"Where could she have gone?" I asked stressfully as me and the guys continuously looked for Dinah

"Try calling her." Franks then said

"I've been calling her and she won't pick up." I rebutted as I looked up into the night sky running my hand through my hair

Boone then walked from the parking lot with a low expression causing me to say, "Well, look who finally showed up."

"Bro, you seen Dinah?" Banks asked as he finally made it to where we stood

"I was just with her." He said causing my eyebrow to raise at the fact he was "just" with her but she wouldn't answer her phone

"What the fuck do you mean you were just with her?" I asked angrily walking to where he stood not even standing an inch away from his face

"You might want to calm your attitude the fuck down because you are in some deep shit with your wife because you can't seem to tell her the truth about your past!" He rebutted

"What the fuck are you talking about?" I rebutted

"She knows about Chase!" Boone rebutted causing me to back off and place my hand against my forehead

"How did she find out?" I asked in a lower tone

"That you're going to have to ask her. But all I know is your wife is sitting at home now probably going to make herself sick with all the crying she's doing because of your ass!" Boone said causing me to angrily punch a nearby pole knowing I fucked up

"And apparently you didn't tell her you were going back to Iraq and we literally leave in a week! How much fucking sense does that make when you know how she reacted the last time?!" He then said

"Get the fuck off of my case right now, Jim!" I then yelled

"No, Colton, because you need to own up to your shit!" He rebutted

"Both of you calm down!" Ross then said causing us to ignore him

"I swear to God, Boone, if you don't leave this conversation alone I'm going to beat the shit out of you!" I threatened as Franks and Ross pulled me back causing me to fight against their grips

"I'm not leaving shit alone! You're hearing everything but what you need to, you should've told her everything instead of always having another person bring it to her!" He replied

"Fuck you!" I then said

"No, fuck you! You have all the amazing qualities of a great husband and married a phenomenal woman but can't not lie about shit you know she wouldn't judge you about! You need to stop trying to fucking argue with me and go check on her!" He replied

I then snatched away from Ross and Franks with my full strength and began making my way to my car knowing he was right.

I needed to talk to Dinah.

"Yeah, love you too!" Boone then said causing me to ignore him as I got in my car and sped off

"Dinah! Baby!" I called as I walked into our house hoping and praying she wasn't gone

I then heard sounds coming from the kitchen causing me to make my way over to where I heard the sounds seeing she was leaning on the counter crying.

"Dinah..." I then said now feeling like complete shit

"No, Colton, I don't want to hear it." She said

I then tried to touch her causing her to snatch away from me as she said, "Don't fucking touch me!"

"Baby, come on!" I said not knowing what else to do this is the first time she's genuinely been mad at me

"You had a brother and didn't even have the decency to tell me! What else are you hiding?" She said looking at me with teary eyes

"I wasn't hiding it!" I rebutted

"Oh, really?" She replied laughing sarcastically as she wiped her eyes

"At this point, I don't want to hear anything but the truth about everything I don't know!" She then said leaning back against the counter not even able to face me any longer

"My brother caught a bullet that was meant for me in the field eleven years ago when we were on deployment together. He saved my life and I gained severe PTSD from it." I finally admitted after years of hiding it

"And let me guess the light skin man in those old photos of you and the guys is your brother?" She then asked causing me to nod "Yes"

She then laughed sarcastically again beginning to drink wine from a glass.

"So, when were you going to tell me you were going back on deployment after sitting in my arms and promising you wouldn't?" She asked leaving me speechless

"Let me guess that was going to be another lie about it being mandatory?" She then asked

"No, it wasn't!" I replied

"So you just want me to sit here and have your kids while you fight in all these wars that don't concern you?! What are you going to gain from risking your fucking life and sanity?" She then asked

"I can't lose another brother! I can't lose them!" I replied

"Let me ask you something, Colton, because you're about to lose your wife-" She began to say before I cut her off and said with watery eyes, "Please, don't say that!"

"Oh really? Why not? I'm supposed to sit around this house alone and wait for you to get yourself killed? I wouldn't dare let a man with a choice make me a widow! And you know I love you with all my heart and soul and I don't even think you've registered what it would do to me if you were to die in a violent manner?" She yelled

"What do you want Dinah!? I got you everything, what else?! I'm explaining why I'm doing what I doing!" I retorted

"So lying to me is a good explanation for you lie more and to go and back to do something that could get you killed? And let me tell you something, fuck every materialistic thing in this house! I don't give a fuck about it, I give a fuck about you!... What do you mean what do I want? I want you here with me!" She rambled angrily before letting more tears sprawl down her cheeks

"Dinah, I'm sorry!" I said while walking closer to her

"Please, just leave me alone, Colton. There are pillows and blankets on the couch but the more I look and argue with you the sicker and madder I am getting. Good night." She said before trying to walk out of the kitchen causing me to gently grab her arm causing her to snatch it away and continue to walk away

I then followed her while basically begging for her forgiveness as I followed her up the stairs to our room before she slammed the door behind her and locked me out.

I then sat behind the door beginning to cry silently the more I listened to her sob from the pain I inflicted.
