𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗦, 𝗧𝗘𝗫𝗔𝗦

I carried Max through the front door as Dinah followed behind me. The vet told us that Max's arm was fine, fortunately, it was just dislocated and not broken but still, I didn't want him on it for right now.

As far as my Father he's in a Military Correctional Facility and more than likely I'm not going to have to worry about him for a while.

All I had to do was fill Dinah in about the things that I didn't tell her that got her hurt because of my negligence.

Though she had continuously told me that it wasn't my fault I couldn't help but believe it was. He still had a key to my house from making sure Max was fed when I was on deployment and it led to him being here when he shouldn't.

Even I didn't expect it to be him, I hadn't physically seen him in about two years and was hoping I wouldn't have to for longer.

I laid Max on his dog bed and rubbed his head while sitting beside him. In my 5 years of having Max, I never had anything happen to him and I felt terrible because of it.

I let both of them down. And the only good thing that came out of this was the fact I finally was able to man up and tell her everything about him as well as my childhood.

"You stay and rest boy," I said as I sighed stressfully while rubbing his head softly

Dinah then sat next to me causing Max to try and get up causing Dinah to say, "No, lay down cutie."

She then kissed his head before grabbing my hand gently.

"Goodnight, boy." I then said to Max causing him to lick my hand before I got up and walked towards our bedroom letting a few tears slip as I quickly wiped them

"Colton..." Dinah called as she trailed behind me

"Yes, baby?" I asked as I sat on the side of our bed facing her as she walked through the bedroom door with a slight pout before she walked to me and wrapped her arms around me

I did nothing but lean against her chest as I began to silently cry while she held me.

"You know when we first started dating I believed the longer I kept him unknown to you I thought I was protecting you. That must have been a figment of my imagination." I said

"Colton, I promise you're just overthinking things I'm fine."

From what Dinah told me he snuck behind her after she came out of the bathroom and put a gun to her head. Then it led to them having a little fight and Max biting him and because of that while he was distracted she tried to grab one of the guns I had laying around the house and he threatened to kill Max to stop her. Nothing about this fucking situation was fine to me.

When I wrote and said my vows I promised I'd be there to protect her and I wasn't there to protect either of them.

"Dinah, as much as I want to forget this happened I can't stop thinking about the fact you or Max could've gotten seriously hurt. I wasn't there for you when you needed me most" I said causing her to grab my hands and pull away so she could look me in the eyes

"Baby, who stopped him from pointing a gun at me?" She asked while wiping my eyes

"I did, but I was too late," I replied

"Colton you protected me whether you believe it or not. You were there when I needed you." She said beginning to smile before she leaned down pressing a kiss against my lips

She then slipped onto my lap and said, "And I would've been able to handle the situation completely if it wasn't for the position he put Max in, I care about him too much to let him get hurt."

"God, I love the fact I was able to put a ring on your finger more every day," I said causing her to kiss me again

"I love the fact I married a sensitive man that doesn't mind kicking someone's ass for me and letting it be known to any and everybody how he feels about me." She replied causing me to laugh as she gently pushed me down against the bed

"Whatever you two scared me today," I said lowly while looking up at her as I gently placed my hands on her waist

"I really think you forget your wife has been a Navy Seal for about 5 years and been on deployment with you for 3 of those years. As much as you'd like to be you're not the only trained killer" She replied while biting her lip

"That right?" I asked while trailing my finger up her side

"Mmhm."She voiced with a little laugh following

"Remember what I told you though, 'The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid..." She began to state before I cut her off finishing the scripture, "What can mere mortals do to me?"

Dinah then smiled joyfully and said, "You are listening!"

"Of course. I like listening to you talk about it, it reminds me of my Mother." I replied causing her to smile

"She was a Christian?" Dinah asked causing me to nod

"She probably would have had a heart attack and then kicked my ass if she ever heard me say I was an atheist." I said causing us both to laugh before I gently placed my hands on her cheek, "And she would've loved you." I concluded as she smiled

"Let's go get your first tattoo!" Dinah suggested randomly causing me to look at the time

"It's one in the morning and we have to start packing for our move," I said as she slipped off of my lap and went over to the closet grabbing her shoes

"If you're scared just say that Commander because we both know you're in control of me and your schedule." She rebutted causing me to laugh

"Okay, let's go do it. But let's not forget you have to get one too like you promised." I replied as she handed me sneakers

"Okay, but I just wanna know...did I cheer you up?" She asked with a bright smile present

"Always," I replied causing her to dance as she cheered lowly

"You're such a dork," I said beginning to laugh at her mannerisms causing her to laugh right along with me

"I'm yours!" She rebutted

"Better be," I replied smacking her ass gently

A/N: Okay!! Max and Dinah are fine! Colton's dad is gone, Dinah finally knows about her husband's past and he's trying to blame himself. How'd you guys like the chapter?
