"So Christ and the Devil liked each other at one point?" Colton asked as he lay on my lap listening to me

"Mmhm," I answered while playing with his hair

"So what happened between them?" He asked

"Before Satan became known as the Devil or any of his other alias he was Lucifer. And he was one of God's most beautiful, powerful, and charming angels. And after Lucifer became so impressed with his own elegance, intellect, power, and position within Heaven...he began to desire honor and glory that belonged to God alone. So when those self-generated thoughts of pride corrupted his mind he and a third of the angels tried to overthrow Christ causing war in Heaven to break out leading to the expulsion of Lucifer and the angels who followed. And shortly after Hell was born with a new leader known as the Devil." I explained as Colton gently rubbed the side of my thigh

"That's actually pretty intriguing." He murmured causing me to laugh lowly as I nodded

"What does it say about soulmates?"

"Well it's more of a soul tie type thing...but basically once married a couple is then one in flesh. So simply in this context, your soulmate is who you choose to marry because with that choice you are choosing to unite physically, emotionally, and spiritually for life. Meaning the man treats his wife or significant other as they'd treat themselves and each submits to the other. But a lot of men take the whole submission part out of context, a wife isn't a maid or punching bag but more of a shoulder for the husband to lean on." I replied

"You're a virgin aren't you?" He then blurted causing my eyes to slightly bulge in shock at the randomness of his question as I stopped twisting the strands of his hair between my fingers

I couldn't help but do anything else but fall into a spell of silence as embarrassment filled me.

Colton then sat up turning to face me causing a forced smile to appear across my lips as my expression told it all.

"Is it that obvious?" I asked looking toward the floor

"When you're not kissing me yes." He responded with a smile causing me to laugh as I shyly faced him

"I like it though...I think that purity within you is hot" He then said gently grabbing my cheek

"Oh, really?" I said teasingly

"Of course...other than your cooking I really love that too!" Colton said beginning to laugh causing me to hit him softly

"I am going to make you go back to your tent if you keep it up, Commander," I replied with a smirk that held back the inner laughter I was soon to release

"You wouldn't dare!" He replied getting up, going to grab a snack from my bag causing me to throw a pillow at him

"You ask for my stuff!" I whisper-yelled as he caught the pillow causing me to laugh

"Come on lady! I don't deserve a granola bar?" He said beginning to eat the snack

"Maybe if you massage my back..." I replied squinting my eyes causing him to laugh

"Alright, only because we haven't been in the field for a few days and I am not tired." He said mocking my expression

"Oh, whatever" I replied with a laugh as he finished eating, beginning to wash his hands as I asked, "Did you play football?"

"Dinah, I am starting to seriously think you have some type of psychic powers," Colton replied looking over toward me before turning back to dry his hands

"Baby, you just caught a pillow with one hand," I replied while laughing

"Okay, and?" He replied walking over to me

"It was just a wild guess," I replied

"You're my beautiful little guardian angel aren't you?" He then said with a smile as he ran his fingers up my thigh

"Sure, but I still want my massage!" I replied causing him to laugh as he pecked my lips

"Alright, alright, let me get comfortable," Colton said climbing into the bed

He then leaned against the headboard causing me to gently jump into his arms hugging him tightly with him returning the favor as I laid my head on his shoulder.

"Can you tell me about your family?" I asked as he began to gently massage his fingertips against my skin

"There's not much to talk about."

"Please?" I plead lowly

"My Mom was a baker and she owned a bakery in the town I grew up in...and taught me everything I know including how to be a man," He said with a sigh as he continued massaging my back

"You don't have the best relationship with your Father do you?" I asked

"No, I just pay him to feed and check on Max when I'm on deployment." He replied lowly

I could feel in him that his Father had done things that hurt him deeply but I didn't want to ask anything that would upset him, he'll tell me when he's ready.

"Have you ever thought about losing your virginity?" He asked causing me to laugh lowly

"All the time" I moaned lowly as he began applying more pressure to my lower back with his hands

"If you continue to moan in my ear like that you may lose it before you planned." He joked causing me to laugh as I said, "I didn't mean it like that!"

"I know, I'm just teasing."

"Why'd you join the military?" I asked while feeling heaviness fill my eyes from the feeling of my body winding down

"To get away from my Father."

I gently then pulled away now fully awake from what he'd just revealed to me causing him to stop massaging my back.

"Is that why you get jittery when I touch your neck?" I asked causing him to nod before looking away

I then placed my hands on his and asked, "Can I kiss it?"

He then nodded again this time facing me causing me to gently pepper light kisses onto his neck as he began to softly tighten his grip around my waist.

"I got you," I said lowly as his eyes began to water and he held me tighter

I then kissed his forehead as he stared at me blankly still holding me close before his lips passionately pressed against mine.
