Chapter Three // Start of Something
Start of Something Good - Daughtry
I didn't fall asleep last night, I was too frightened to do so. What if they came back and took my clothes or something?
"I hate this city so much... More than anything," I mutter to myself.
Slowly, I make my way out of the alley I was in and wrap my arms around myself. I was freezing and there was a crack in my glasses.
I noticed that when daylight came back... Now I can't see very well and I have no money to leave this awful place.
This is honestly the worst place I've been and if I had the choice, this place would never see me again. I lift up my arm and wipe my runny nose on my sleeve, sniffling.
Sighing softly, I look at the ground and bite my lip softy, my feet scraping against the pavement. My shoes were already worn out but I didn't care at the moment.
My stomach rumbles loudly and I whine uncontrollably and my stomach churns. Of course the food I had left was in my bag...
I turn my pockets inside out hoping to find something but my pockets were empty. This could not get any worse...
I look at my feet and move my hands to adjust my beanie that those men surprisingly didn't take from me. My eyes still focused on the ground, I bumped into a person and they fell to the ground with a thud.
"Watch where your going you weirdo," they shout at me. "Geez, no one pays attention anymore..."
"I-I'm so sorry s-sir," I stutter out, reaching a hand out to help him up. "I-i didn't mean t-to run into you."
He grabs my hand and squeezes it roughly, pulling himself up onto his feet. I wince and retract my hand, seeing it all red.
"Sure kid, what was your cause of running into me anyway," he asks.
I look at him and sigh softly, my eyes meeting his. His eyes were absolutely stunning.
They were greenish grey and they suit his features well. He has a button nose and freckles dotting his cheeks and across the bridge of his nose.
He's pale and he has reddish brown hair, it curls out just below his ears and instantly I adored it. He wore a pair of blue jeans and a black t shirt covered with a zipped up purple jacket.
"Hello, excuse me, can you explain and stop checking me out. I don't swing that way buddy so stop hoping," he growls out.
"I-I'm sorry sir," I whimper out. "I-i didn't mean to stare like that. I-i just..."
"Just what," he snaps. "I don't have all day to deal with you so just apologize for running into me and I can leave."
"I-i did say sorry, many t-times sir... D-did you not hear me?"
"Are you accusing me of being hard of hearing," he asks. "I should just deck you..."
"P-please no," I shriek as he grabs the collar of my shirt and pulls me closer to him and raises a fist.
I clench my eyes shut and whimper louder than I meant to and try pushing him away. His grip was tight though and I couldn't get away.
"Ponyboy! Leave that poor boy alone, let him go," someone yells.
I feel 'Ponyboy' let go of my shirt collar and shove me away, making an fall on my back and whine. My body hurt more and I wanted to cry.
That's what I did, I just start to sob loudly and open my eyes. Everything was in pain and I just wanted to leave.
"P-please don't hurt m-me anymore," I scream as the other boy grabs my jacket and pull me up onto my feet. "P-please..."
"Hey, its okay kid, its gonna be okay," he says soothingly. "He usually doesn't tact like that, he's just a little upset right now."
"P-please let go of m-me," I whimper out.
He lets go of me and sighs softly. I wipe my teary eyes and whimper more.
"I'm Soda," the boy says sticking his hand out.
I hesitantly reach my hand out and shake his lightly, pulling my hand back after a few seconds. I like Soda a lot better...
"I-I'm Johnny."
"Its nice to meet you Johnny, and again I apologize for Ponyboy's behavior. He's just upset about stuff at the moment and I'm sure he'll cool off soon," he says. "Is there anything I can do to make up to you for him doing that to you?"
"N-no. I-I'm okay Soda," I mutter.
At that moment, my stomach decided to rumble loudly and I blush in embarrassment. He chuckles lightly and smiles widely.
"Hungry there Johnny," Soda asks. "I can get you something."
"T-that's okay, i-i can get myself something," I mumble. "Y-you don't have to spend m-money on me."
"Nonsense, it's my treat Johnny. Where is your favorite place here to eat?"
"I-I'm not actually from here."
"Really? Where you from," he asks.
"T-tulsa, Oklahoma...," I say.
"Oh well then I know a good place we can eat at. I'm not taking no for an answer because you look like you haven't eaten in forever," Soda jokes.
"I haven't eaten in awhile," I say without thinking.
Instantly, I realize my mistake and my eyes widen. Shit...
"No I ain't really taking no for an answer, c'mon," he says.
He grabs my hand lightly and pulls me down the sidewalk. I look at my feet.
"Ponyboy come on, your gonna eat too, its about lunch time anyway and I know you didn't eat before leaving," Soda says with a chuckle.
I hear footsteps beside me and glance up to see Ponyboy walking next to me. Slowly, I move myself closer to Soda and sigh softly.
Ponyboy terrifies me more than those men do. Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
I look up to see a man holding my bag and talking to his friends. I knew it was mine because I had pins placed on the small pocket, those being as some of my souvenirs.
"Hey, that's my bag!"
How was that for me not updating this for almost a month?
