(Warning: Mature themes ;) Also LONGGGG chapter .... but important)
It had been a couple weeks since Mia had transitioned into a vampire. She felt more free, more alive, more emotional and especially more infatuated with a certain person. Ever since she had turned, her attraction to the Mikaelson man had grown.
Mia often thought back to that night when they'd first kissed, there was a spark unlike anything she'd ever felt before. In that moment she saw a future for them, one where they'd spend an eternity together, in love. And all of a sudden the life of a vampire didn't seem so dreadful, it couldn't be, not if she had Klaus with her.
But he rebuffed her affection, claiming that she was confused. Klaus had been captivated by the woman as soon as they met, over time his feelings had grown into something deeper. He was drawn in by her beauty, her innocence, her being. It made him feel more alive, more compassionate, more human.ย
That one night was something he too thought about regularly. The way her fingers tugged at his hair, the sound of his name pouring breathlessly from her lips. How perfectly her body fitted against his but to him it wasn't real. To him, he'd brought himself to believe in a fantasy, where a human could be in their company without getting hurt. He was convinced that Mia had only kissed him because her heightened emotions had become too overwhelming, that she needed an outlet and saw Klaus as the perfect candidate.
He was certain that had anyone else been sat next to her she would've done the same thing. It bewildered him how she could just overlook that he was the reason she'd turned, it was him with whom Mariano was angry with. It was him that gave her his blood yet she comforted him anyways. Every time he looked her way he'd be prompted of the memories from her attack, how helpless she was, vulnerable and it was all because of him.ย
Klaus tried to push those feelings of blame aside and support her during her first day of transition. He taught her to compel and feed, the way she smiled triumphantly after she succeeded was almost enough for the guilt to drop completely. But then she kissed him and they came rushing back. The Original decided that he couldn't operate with love, his soul couldn't co exist with the feeling, so he ignored and isolated himself from her.ย
But he'd just wished he handled things differently, than he had the day after.

"What are you doing?" Klaus entered his bedroom, only to find Mia stood in front of his desk. Vampirism seemed to illuminate her beauty, he took in the sight of her curled hair and blushed face, realising how much he wanted to paint her.
"I did knock but you ... weren't here. Um, I just came to give your present." Mia moved to the side, revealing a small box sat on the furniture, "Miss Violet came by and dropped it off. Everyone's been incredibly comforting, well... everyone who knows."ย
She'd received cards and gifts from the local witches and humans who were aware of the supernatural. They were all fond of the brunette so became heartbroken once they'd heard about the tragedy, convinced that it couldn't have happened to a nicer girl. The Petrova had a spirit that seemed to brighten up life itself. She was extremely friendly and loving, even to those whom she'd just met.
Klaus walked past her and leant by the window, gazing down at the city. Searching for anything that would distract his mind from her, yet he could feel her eyes trained on him. "Was that all you wanted?"
"Yes... actually no. I was wondering if.." She started, thinking of something to diffuse the tension. "Well, if you wanted to come to the park, put my daylight ring to use. We could have a picnic or-"
"No." Klaus interrupted, his back still facing her.
"Okay, we don't have to have a picnic." Mia looked down, shifting nervously. "We can sit by the lake. Oh, we can continue with our lessons. I haven't learned to control my speed yet, Rebekah wanted to race me and I collided with the wall, but blessing of vampirism means I didn't receive a bruise."
"I said no." Klaus repeated, cutting her off before she had a chance to ramble. He knew it would be too onerous to keep up the cruel faรงadeย once she'd start to chat away like she usually did. He was always left wanting to hear more and adored the pink hue that would tint her cheeks when she recognized what she was doing.
"Well what do you want to do?" Mia pressed further, Rebekah urged the girl not to leave Klaus' room until he returned to normal.ย
"I want you to get out." Klaus gritted, her saddened expression was visible through the reflection of the mirror. She forced her lips upwards into a grin, determined to keep trying.
"I'm sorry, that option is not available at the moment but is there anything else you would like?" Mia replied cheekily, in an attempt to get a smile from him but instead he turned around and glared.
"I'm being serious, Mia. This isn't a joking matter." Klaus strode towards her, annoyance visible on his face. Mia's heartbeat quickened, as she backed away in fear. She came to a pause when she ended up against the wall with the Mikaelson towering over her.ย
"Nik, you're frightening me." She murmured, hating the way in which he looked at her. His eyes lacked the adoration and care they once held.
"Good." Klaus replied flatly. This was his intention, to appear as cold as possible so she wouldn't miss his presence. "I don't understand where this sudden bravery has derived from, that you think you can speak to an Original this way."ย
"Why are you being like this?" Mia exclaimed, she turned her face away from him, biting down on her bottom lip to hold back the tears. This was done with such a force, the layer of skin was broken, causing a bead of crimson blood to rise up, resting on the corner of her mouth.
Klaus' eyes darted to her lips, the ones that enfolded with his just a few hours prior. He desired nothing more than to feel them again. He gripped her chin, turning her face back towards him, then brought his thumb to the bottom one, pulling it away from her teeth. Klaus snapped back to reality, realising what he was doing then looked up and saw Mia staring at him in anticipation, and a small glimmer of hope, the inner corner of her brows scrunched.
As much as he wanted to hold her, to take her to his bed and show her how gorgeous and amazing she truly was, he couldn't. "She isn't herself, I've ruined her." He thought to himself, "How could she want me?"
"What's the matter? Tell me what's wrong." Mia moved the hand that was on her face and held it, she placed her spare one on his chest, hoping the contact would soften his mood. "You know you can confide in me, I'll listen to you."ย His soul yearned for her but in his eyes it was better this way. As long as she had Rebekah to keep her company there was no need for him.ย
"I hardly doubt that, considering you're failing to follow simple instructions." He pulled his hand away and scowled. This look was reserved for those who he despised, it felt wrong to address it to her, especially when she'd done nothing vile to deserve it.ย He leaned forward, bringing himself to a threatening distance and spoke harshly. "Get out, before I make you."
Mia's mind raced with confusion, this wasn't her Nik. The man that would buy her flowers and bring her a bowl of strawberries each night. The one who'd play with her hair and hold her close to him when she needed comforting. This wasn't Nik, it was Klaus. The ruthless vampire everyone feared, the killer who didn'tย care for a single soul.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to anger you." Mia mumbled with glossy eyes, refusing to make eye contact with him. She couldn't bear to look at him and not see her caring Nik, wishing the events of the previous day could be erased. "I'll just get out of your way then."
"Please do." He returned to desk, closing his eyes as a wave of self loathing drowned him. He heard her footsteps retreating then stop, she turned around, needing to say one last thing.ย
"You're a liar, Nik." Mia stated, tearing the ribbon off her wrist and throwing it down, "You promised me I'd never feel unwanted here." And with those words she left, leaving the man feeling as culpable as ever. He picked up the material from the floor and traced his finger over the embroidered letter, she'd given back the token of his affection.ย
"It's easier if she hates me." He reassured himself, before opening the box she'd left on the desk. He pulled out a small pot of paint, the colour matched the ribbon whilst his mind searched for an answer as to why she gifted this. A small card fell from the lid as he flipped it, the scent of azaleas masked the paper, beautifulย handwriting inscribedย in purple ink ...
You said you needed a colour for the sky. I hope it's to your liking.
Lovingly, Mia.
He smiled to himself, picking up a blank canvas and getting to work on a new piece. Little did he know how difficult it would be.
~~~~
"He hates me." Mia muffled into the pillow, "And I haven't even done anything." She decided against telling Rebekah about the kiss, not wanting to make Klaus more uncomfortable than he already was.ย
But in her mind it wasn't about the kiss, she was convinced Klaus had been put off by her vampirism. Santiago told her that vampires were attracted to light, which meant that because she was no longer an innocent human, the Original had become bored of her.
"He doesn't hate you, darling." Rebekah consoled, standing in front of the mirror. Tommy had asked her out on their first official date so she told Mia to help her get ready, hoping to distract the girl from her sorrow.ย
"Nik just blames himself for what happened to you." Rebekah explained, she picked up a dress with stitched flowers, then threw it to the side, mumbling how it was too long for her taste. "He never wanted you to become a vampire."
"So he would've preferred if I just stayed dead." The Petrova muttered spitefully, wondering how she could love someone but be so angry with the simultaneously.
"Stop it! You mustn't speak foolish words like that, ever." Rebekah scolded, her eyes immediately softened upon seeing the brunette's bottom lip jutted out. "Don't get upset. Nik cares about you, so much."
"No he doesn't. That's not what caring looks, or feels like." Mia rolled onto her side, facing her friend. "You haven't seen the way he looks at me now, as if he's disgusted, ashamed. Like I'm broken. He doesn't even paint in the parlour like he used to, he made his own little art room just so I wouldn't bother him." She shuffled off the bed and handed the blonde a red dress, "He said it himself, he wants nothing to do with me and to make matters worse, he won't even let me leave."
Mia was referring to the incident that occurred a week after the kiss, she'd grown frustrated with Klaus' treatment so she packed her bags with the intention of moving back to the hostel. However, she left her bedroom to go help Rebekah write a love letter addressed to a certain bartender. Once she'd returned, her bags had been emptied and all her belongings were placed back where they started, obviously the doing of Klaus.
Rebekah hung the dress up in the wardrobe, "Why don't we got out tonight? I can always rearrange with Thomas."
"Don't be silly." Mia pulled the piece of clothing back out, "You deserve one night of stunningly wonderful romance." She held the dress in front of the Mikaelson girl's body, "Definitely this one, Tommy's always loved you in red."
"It doesn't feel right, leaving you here alone."ย
"Hush, I'm perfectly fine." Mia assured the blonde, "And besides, Miss Madeleine is dropping off her child for the night, her husband is taking her away for the weekend. I'll have my new friend to keep me company."
"A one year old, such fine company." Rebekah teased.
"Yes, she may be an infant but she'll still say more to me than your brother will." Mia expressed, giving Rebekah a once-over. "You look gorgeous, Tommy won't be able to keep his hands off you.
Rebekah smiled warmly at the girl before turning back to the mirror, she was yet to speak to Klaus on why he was behaving in this manner, believing that it was just a blip and he'd return to normal shortly. But it'd been over a month, so she decided it was time to take matters into her own hands.
~~~~
"I love you." Mia began. "I've been trying not to say it considering everything that's been happening but I can't keep quiet any more. I am completely in love with you. It's as though you're in me." Her eyes widened once she'd realised the last sentence.ย
"No, not in me, that's not the right words." She fidgeted with her gloves, thinking of a better way to express it, "It's as if you're a disease, like I am infected by Niklaus Mikaelson, and I'm unable think about anybody else, nor do I want to, because I love you. Every minute of everyday. And this past month has been my own personal hell because I miss you, I miss talking to you, and watching you paint. And all I need is for you to tell me that you love me back.... That's all."
The infant, sat on the sofa, simply stared back at her, just as she'd been doing the past hour whilst Mia had been practising her speech. "Well, let's hope he has a different reaction than you." Mia picked her up, resting her upon her hip.
"What do you think I should do, Daphne?" As expected the child remained silent, Mia lifted the baby above her head and shook her around gently, "Tell me." She spoke in a low growl, dragging out the E.
"Gah." Was all Daphne had managed to say.
"Very helpful, you have my gratitude." Mia deadpanned before sitting down with the child in her lap. "Still, I suppose I should be grateful, that's more than Nik has said to me in the past month. You're good listener."
Daphne placed both her hands on the Petrova's face before leaning forward and colliding their heads. "Thank you darling, that was really appreciated." Mia rubbed the sore spot on her forehead before looking back down at the infant.ย
"You look just like your mother." She smoothed Daphne's hair down, then stroked the baby's soft cheeks. "Same eyes and nose. It must be wonderful having a miniature version of yourself." It dawned on her that she would never get that opportunity again, the chance for a family, for a child of her own. The brunette wasn't entirely sure she was ready for children but now that it was an impossibility, she craved it more than ever.

Rebekah had gone to the bar to meet with Tommy when she caught sight of her brother drinking alone. Without warning, she grabbed him and sped outside. "What the hell are you doing?" Klaus brushed her off once they'd reached the alley.
"Knocking some sense into you, I hope." Rebekah slapped him across the head, she wasn't afraid ... but took a step back as a precaution.
"I have no clue what you're talking about." He glared at her outburst, then attempted to walk inside but was pushed back.
"Oh, for goodness sake, Nik. Stop behaving like a fool." Rebekah snapped, "Will you just talk to her?" She didn't even need to specify who, they were both aware who she was referring to.
"I just spoke to her yesterday." Klaus responded flatly, "You were there."
"That was barely 2 words. All you said was excuse me because she was in your bloody way, it doesn't count." Rebekah retorted, she despised seeing Mia upset, even more because it was about her brother. "She's hurting, you know how sensitive she is and that's only increased since she's transitioned."
"I hardly see how any of this is my concern." Klaus snarked, leaning back against the wall. "She's your friend, you deal with her."
"What is the matter with you?! A month ago you wanted her all to yourself and now you can't stand the sight of her." The blonde jabbed her finger at his chest. "How can you punish her when you're the reason she's in this position in the first place?" She blurted out before realising how heavy the words were, she looked at him, her eyes filled with regret, "I didn't mean that."
"Except you obviously did." Klaus mumbled, it'd become too difficult to supress his emotions. He just hoped that Rebekah wouldn't tell Mia what he was about to say. "I can't, Rebekah. All I see when I look at her is a constant reminder of what I did. Mariano Lopez was seeking revenge against me, Mia was innocent. Seeing her that night, covered in her blood, crying." His voice wavered upon recalling the memory, "I did that to her, sister. Bringing her into our world because I wanted to know her."
"You're not entirely at fault, Nik. I befriended her first." Rebekah contended, joining him by the wall. "When it comes to that girl, I don't think anyone would be able to resist."
However, the Mikaelson woman could sense there was more to the story, "But I don't understand. You were perfectly fine with her the day after her transition, teaching her how to feed and compel. You looked happy, the pair of you did. Did something else happen?"
Klaus could see there was no use keeping it from Rebekah any longer, if he had she would just pry until she discovered the truth. "When we returned home that day .... we kissed."
"Oh." Rebekah's jaw dropped slightly. She was partly disappointed in herself, feeling as though she'd done something which meant that Mia didn't feel comfortable enough to confide in her about this. "And? What else?"
"That's all." Klaus furrowed his brows, confused why his sister didn't see the gravity of the situation.
"That's all?! Are you being serious?" Rebekah scoffed, judgement contorting her expression. "Honestly, you're an absolute imbecile. Anyone could clearly see that you're in love with her, so why the hell would that be a bad thing?"
"Because she doesn't know what she wants." Klaus fumed, standing upright. "She said it herself she felt different. Her emotions were all over the place, it had her looking for anything familiar to cling onto. So any feelings she had towards me, prior her transition, were misconstrued for something more. She was just searching for something to ease her confusion."
Baffled. That was one word to describe the state Rebekah was in, in that moment. Here were two people, both clearly infatuated with one another but certain that the feelings weren't reciprocated. As much as she wanted to tell Klaus how Mia really felt, she knew it wasn't her secret to tell, so she opted for a different method.
"She's leaving, Nik. That's what I came to tell you." Of course she felt guilty about lying but assured herself that it was for the greater good, the tension between her brother and the Petrova had become too suffocating to bear any longer. "Her bags are packed. She told me to go out, saying it would be too difficult to say goodbye."
This new information had shocked Klaus, he didn't think his behaviour would be enough to make the Mia want to leave again. Especially after what happened on her last attempt, "What do I do?"
"Go to her, tell her how you feel and put an end to all this nonsense." Rebekah urged, feeling relief once Klaus had took off, however he walked in the direction opposite to their home.
The sound of clapping startled Rebekah, until a familiar voice spoke, "Bravo, some of your finest work." Tommy approached her, bringing her hand to his lips. "You look stunning. But I have the strangest feeling that you just told your brother an untruth."
"Yes, but it was a necessary untruth." Rebekah wrapped her arms around his neck, "They just need a little push in the right direction. If I have to lie to make that happen, then that's a burden I'm willing to bear."
"You're a minx, Bekah." Tommy pecked her lips, before lifting her off the ground and carrying her to the car.
~~~~
"Mia." Klaus burst through the door, the sight in front of him caught him by surprise. Mia was on the couch, with a baby in her arms, both of them asleep. He recalled her telling him that someone needed their child to be cared for, but wasn't expecting it when he walked in.ย
The Petrova with a child just looked natural, as if she was made for it. Thus becoming another mark on Klaus' tally of things he believed he'd taken away from Mia. The brunette was extremely empathetic and solicitous , the qualities a mother should have, however she'd never receive the opportunity to prove herself.ย
Mia stirred in her sleep, then opened her eyes in a daze, "Nik, is that you?"
"Yes, it's me." Klaus responded, looking around for her luggage. "Everything's fine. Go back to sleep."
"I didn't hear you come in." She yawned quietly, the endearing sound fighting against the Mikaelson man's lips, attempting to pull them upwards but he resisted. "Have you lost something?"
"No..."He sighed, pushing his pride away for one second, "Where are your bags?"
He wants me to leave. Mia tried hard to hide the sorrow on her face but failed, "They're in my room, shall I pack them?"
"What, no. Rebekah said..." He twisted the ring on his finger until he'd realised what his sister had done, causing him to feel like a fool. He'd come barging in, woke her up, all in the fear of her leaving and here she was, blissfully unaware as to what was going on. "Never mind."
"Who are the flowers for?" Mia's eyes darted to the azaleas in his hand, every fragment of her wishing and hoping they weren't for another woman.
Klaus had forgotten he was even holding them, he'd gone to the shop before he went home, with the intention of gifting them to Mia and apologising. But after seeing her with the child he was convinced that he was right all along, she didn't need him nor did she want him. Not after he ruined her life.ย "Gloria." He'd chosen the first name that appeared in his head.
"Oh." Mia shoulders slumped, slightly irked that he was gifting that certain type to someone else. "That's very sweet of you. I'm sure she's going to love them." Klaus still stood there, unable to think of anything to say. "Was that all you wanted, my bags?"
"I don't need them, just making sure they're there." He cursed at himself for the lousy excuse and left without bidding goodnight, making a note to threaten Rebekah for what she'd just done.
"You're lucky, Daphne." Mia gazed down at the sleeping infant, "You don't have to deal with all this confusion at your age. And let me tell you, there is a lot of it." It aggravated her why Klaus was acting this way but then it hit her, perhaps it was the real him, or another part.
She'd only seen his Jekyll, the one she loved. The artist, the caring and respectful man, but now Mr Hyde was coming out to play, tormenting and insulting her being. All this left her wondering if she'd fallen for one man .... or two.
~~~~
"Don't think I don't see you staring." Gloria slid beside George, who was sat by the bar, gazing at Mia from across the room.
"How can I not? She's perfect." George sighed, the Petrova had caught his eye straight away. She had just arrived in Chicago, looking for a place to stay when she bumped into him. He told her about Miss Owens' hostel and offered to take her there, carried her bags the entire way.
ย Once they'd reached she insisted he accepted the money, as a token of thanks but he declined so she gave him a kiss on the cheek instead. Since then he'd go to the bar everyday in the hopes of seeing her, he'd never felt such excitement as he would when she'd smile at him.
"Then don't just sit here like a lemon, you dope. Go talk to her." Since Mia had come to town, Gloria had to listen to George speak about her, every night. The boy was infatuated with the Petrova but never made an effort to speak to her. However once he'd found out she was attacked and killed, he decided it was time. Only to be knocked back by Klaus Mikaelson.
"Oh, I could never do that. Not after what happened last time." Klaus had warned him to stay away from the girl, but what stuck out to George was when the Original told him Mia would laugh in his face. "Klaus would kill me. And you may find this surprising but I prefer my heart when it's beating safely inside my chest, instead of being held in front of my dead face."
"That man has lost any right to Amelia, the way he's been treating her." Gloria scowled at the thought of Klaus, she'd seen how much his actions had affected Mia. "Look at her, George. The girl needs some company, lord knows where Rebekah is."
"Are you sure?" George hesitated,ย "I don't want to make a fool of myself."
"You won't, believe me." The boy had always been like a brother to Gloria, she'd taught him how to control his magic when he was younger, and was extremely protective over him. "Now go, I've had enough of your whining."
George straightened his tie, smoothened down his blazer then turned back to the singer, grinning. "Okay, I'm gonna do it. I'm going to talk to her." He began to walk then came to an abrupt stop and whirled back around. "Wait, I need a flower. I can't go over there without a flower."
Gloria picked out a rose from the nearest vase and tossed it to him, "There, now take it and get gone." She beamed endearingly as she watched him walk away with a spring in his step. "Little fool." The witch mumbled to herself before going on the stage and singing, trying to set the right mood.
George approached the Petrova, who was sat alone in a booth, "Hi." He spoke nervously, she glanced up and smiled at him, causing his heart to flutter. "Is this chair ... well not chair, I can see that it's not a chair." He stammered as the nerves grew stronger, it was alarming how much looking in her eyes affected him. "If it was a chair it would have legs but it doesn't, so it's not. I guess you could call it a seat, or a booth. Yes, booth is the right word for it."
Mia watched the boy babble on until it became clear what he was trying to say, "Would you like to join me, Georgie?"
His face flushed at the nickname, he became still and silent, until Mia addressed him once again, bringing him back from his thoughts. "Yes, yes. That would be wonderful." He took a seat beside her, wondering how someone could smell so sweet. "I got you a flower." He practically threw it at the brunette then clamped up, wringing his hands under the table.
"Would you like a drink?" Mia offered, sensing his nerves and hoped the alcohol would help loosen him up. "I can go get us some."
"No, no, no." George shot up from his seat, "I'll go get them, you stay here." He hurried back to the bar, where a smirking Gloria was stood.ย
"Quite the charmer, ain't ya." The witch teased, "Honey, not even my singing can help make that better."
"I'm blowing it." George murmured, Gloria raised a suggestive eyebrow at his word choice, causing him to fluster. "Not in that way, get your head out of the gutter, G. I just .... I can't speak to her without going off on a tangent."ย
"That's it." He threw his hands up and kneeled down behind the bar, "I'm not going back, just tell her I'm sick and I've gone home. But make sure you give her a drink."
Gloria dragged him off the floor, "Stop behaving all goofy like. She's just a normal girl."
"She's not a normal girl." George objected, slightly offended that Gloria had described the Petrova as normal." She's a vampire. The most .... beautiful one that I've ever seen, but that doesn't matter. I'm not going back, she's gonna laugh at me."
"Honestly, George. You are driving me insane." Gloria pinched the bridge of her nose, "She will not bite you .... unless you want her to. It's always the quiet ones you gotta watch out for."
George looked at the witch, unimpressed. "You're not helping."
"Then help yourself." She grinned, pushing him towards the booth, "I've got songs to sing."
"Okay, I'm just gonna do it. You can do it, George." He encouraged himself, picking up the drinks and slowly making his towards the booth. "She's just a girl, there's nothing to be nervous about. Don't be afraid."
"I was wondering where you went." Mia scooched across, giving him more room. "I thought I offended you."
"There's nothing you could do that would offend me." George blurted out, then realised what he'd said. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that. I just mean.. you're..." He gave up and sighed, hanging his head in embarrassment.
"Are you okay, Georgie?" Mia expressed her concern, until she detected what she thought to be the problem. "Are you scared of vampires?"
"No, it's not that." He muffled through his hands, "It's just you..." George moved his hands away from his face, summoning every ounce of courage he had, "You are really pretty, gorgeous even. But I'm not saying that's all you are, that would be rude, a woman is so much more than her looks. Y- You're really kind and funny and you just make everything ... better."
Mia blushed at his compliments, it'd been a long time since she received any and the usual giver was Klaus. She also found it comforting, not being the only one who rambled, she smiled shyly, listening to the rest of his praise.
"You have a really beautiful smile, that I can spend hours looking at. And I do, I sit at the bar.." He pointed dramatically, "..and just look at you. Wait... that sounds strange. It's..." He stopped, glancing back at Gloria, who was staring with amusement, then turned back to the Petrova. "I think you are just ... swell."
Mia beamed at him, placing a hand on his arm. "Thank you. I think you're swell too."ย
The two sat there and chatted away, an hour had passed when Mia caught sight of something alarming. Klaus was across the room, glaring at the pair whilst taking a sip from his drink. His anger could practically be felt anyone passing as it radiated from his body.ย
He came to the bar, with the intention of getting drunk and feeding off a few humans but was furious to see George talking with Mia. Especially after he'd ordered the boy to stay away, yet there they were, sat in the booth he used to sit with Mia in. Laughing together and sharing stories. It was unbearable to watch, seeing someone else making the Petrova smile, the way she used to at him.
The Original got up from his chair, to approach them. Only to be stopped by Gloria, "Don't even think about." She stood in front of him, blocking his way. "It's very rude to interfere in matters that have nothing to do with you."
"It has everything to do with me." Klaus rebuked, trying to walk past but the witch obstructed each time. "I warned him, still he sits there, waving it in my face, mocking me."
"It's all in your head. They're having fun, enjoying each others company." Gloria argued, crossing her arms. "You refused to talk to the poor thing, did you just expect her to stay alone for ever? Or is it just the rule of, if you can't have her no one can?"
"I hardly see how any of this is relevant to you." Klaus snarked, he knew she was right but didn't want to appear weak.
"That boy is like a brother to me and he likes her, a lot. So if you do anything, and I mean anything to hurt him, I won't be the friendly little witch you remember." She pushed him back into his chair and strutted off.
Growing frustrated at the sounds of their joy, Klaus left the bar and went home, trying the only thing that would help soothe his anger. Painting.
"Where'd he go?" Mia looked back, noticing his absence. "He was just there."
"He probably got mad," George started, wondering if he should share his last interaction with Klaus. "I need to tell you something."
At the end of the night George walked Mia back home, they stood outside to say their goodbyes. "Thank you, Georgie. I had a wonderful time."
"Me too." The boy smiled but he could sense there was something wrong with her. "Maybe we can do it again sometime?"
"That would be great but..." Mia started. She'd been unable to get Klaus out of her mind, the way he looked at her that night was something she'd never seen before, it was jealousy. Even after hearing George's story, she was still left confused. She wondered if she'd misconstrued it but found herself becoming more and more curious.
"But... Klaus." George completed, giving a small smile. It was obvious that the Petrova was in love with the Original, it was evident to anyone who saw them together. But a small part of him had hoped there was a chance for him too.
"Yes, it's Nik." Mia sighed. "It would be cruel of me to string you along when there's even a small possibility that I harbour feelings for another." The brunette felt guilty for letting the witch feel as though there was even a fraction of hope. It was clear that George would be the better choice but she couldn't deny her love for Klaus, and was determined for him to know, whether or not he felt the same. Just like the rose that was gifted to her, George was the safer choice.
"Go to him, Amelia." George looked down at his shoe, "Tell him that you love him."
"I suppose you think I'm a fool, being devoted to a man who's shown zero interest."
"No, I think you're a loving woman and any man would be lucky to have you." He held her hand, "If he says no, he's the fool. And if he says yes but doesn't treat you the way you deserved to be treated, then you know where to find me."
Mia leaned forward and placed a kiss on the boy's cheek. "Thank you, Georgie. You really are a wonderful man." And with that, she went inside, her nerves sky rocketing for what she was about to do. But first she had to get changed.
~~~~
Klaus had tried his hardest to ignore Mia, but even her presence stayed in his mind. When he painted his brush strokes danced on the canvas and brought her to life. However when his eyes acknowledged what he was creating he tore the pages up and started up again...
And again
And again
Until he gave up and let his heart take control of his mind. So there he stood, his hand frantically flicking and splashing paint across his current and unfinished canvas. He felt a familiar presence in the room but carried on.ย
"Nik?" Mia said, gulping back her nerves, playing with the pearls he gifted her, back on one of their outings.
Klaus didn't look up, he stood adjacent to the large door.ย "I'm busy."
She flinched at his harsh tone, "I know but-"
"I'm busy." He repeated, more firmly, finally looking up, breath hitching at her beauty.
She stood with her blood-red flapper dress, 3-inch heels, dark hair curled into ringlets and pearl earrings, matching the necklace laying on her chest. He glanced down at his painting, noting that it would never come close to the real thing. She was far too beautiful to recreate.
Her shoulders hung low, she felt embarrassed from bothering him, ashamed almost, wanting nothing more than to talk to him. Every time she stepped into a room, he stepped out. When she tried approaching him, he always made up an excuse to leave. She felt unwanted and stupid, her heightened emotions didn't help with that and neither did he. "All I want to do is talk, Nik." she tried.ย
"As you can see, Amelia," Her brows furrowed at the use of her full name, he would never address her that way, not even when he was angry, "I am painting, so I can't at the moment." he quipped with a sharp tone.ย
"You never want to talk." She looked away from him, sighing deeply.
Klaus tried to not feel guilty, he didn't want to give in, so he went back to focusing on his painting, the painting that she couldn't see. "I'm busy."
"You never want to be near me."
He scoffed, "Because I'm busy."
"Look, Nik. I am sorry that I kissed you. Even though it wasn't entirely my fault, I'm sorry." Mia put forth, shifting on the spot. "It was a mistake and I regret it deeply, so can we just go back to the way things were before." Although she was saying it, she didn't want that, to go back to not knowing how he felt, but she missed him, and if that was the only way to get him to talk to her then she was willing to do it.
The room went silent, neither of them spoke. Mia looked at him desperately, trying to review his face. However his gaze remained on his unfinished painting, avoiding her dark eyes. He didn't want to have this conversation, he didn't want things to go back to how they were. Before she turned, she was free and alive. But due to his stupidity and need to be around her all the time, it put her in danger, took her away from her human life, turning her into a vampire.ย
At first he thought they could move past it, continue like normal but then she kissed him. It made him feel dirty, and manipulative. Although he'd done nothing he convinced himself he had. The last thing he wanted was to fall in too deep, only for Mia to realise she felt nothing for him, that the supposed love was just a result of her amplified emotions.
After all, love is a vampire's greatest weakness. So he gave her the answer that he thought was best, "No."
"What?" She whimpered. Tears welled up in Mia's eyes. She didn't want to cry, she didn't want constantly feel this way.
Her heartbroken tone reached Klaus' heart, shattering it into several pieces. He shook his head and dropped his brush, with a force so strong it almost broke the canvas, "I don't want that" he moved around the painting, walking up to her.ย
Mia stood in shock, turning her head away from his beautiful blue eyes, they were arguably her favourite feature of his. "Fine." she hesitantly nodded, "I'll just leave you alone and we never have to speak again." she went to turn around but he caught her wrist.ย
The hairs on his neck stood up, he'd missed touching her. It provided him a comfort that couldn't be matched. "I don't want-"
"You don't want me." Mia cut him off with a harsh tone, not caring about the single tear that escaped her eye, "You've made it abundantly clear." She tried pulling away from his grip, but he was far too strong. Her lips trembled, causing his heart to ache, he hated seeing her like this.
He reached up and wiped the tear that trickled down her face, cupping her cheek, "Mia, I-"
"Stop." Mia shook her head, slapping his hand away. She already missed his touch, missed the solace it would provide.
Klaus looked at her with a shameful expression, "I'm sor-"
"You're not. If you were, you wouldn't be acting this way."
"I am sorry, I promise you." He stepped closer and she stepped back. "Just let me explain."
"No." She screamed and he took a step back, not wanting to upset her more. "I was in love with you, you thick-headed idiot. I fell for you even before I turned, but you didn't care."
"What?" Klaus' lips parted, he'd been completely oblivious to it. Believing that the love was one sided, hearing her say it now was everything to him. Now that he knew .... he wouldn't let her go.
"I'm not repeating myself, Nik." She scoffed, looking away from his eyes, not wanting to get lost in them. "I saw you at the bar today, your eyes were practically screaming murder. It's not fair, you've been ignoring me for the past month so you cannot fault me for trying to move on. Did you really expect me to just spend the rest of my immortal life pining after you, when you keep making it painfully obvious that you don't feel the same?"
He looked down at her in disbelief.ย How could she possibly think that?
She's everything.
She's my everything
Perfect for me.
ย Mia's chest heaved as she looked back at the man she loved, "I'm done I-"
"I love you." He blurted out, shocking them both.
The Petrova gave him a warning look, "Don't lie."
"I'm not lying Mia." Klaus denied, he knew he only had himself to blame for her distrust, the way he'd been treating her was awful.
"Yes you are!" Mia yelled at him, he hated how much he hurt her, how much he continued to hurt her, "You've made it clear, so don't lie to me and say that you want me, when you do not."
Klaus took a step towards her, this time she didn't move, "I'm not lying, my love." He said softly, he cupped her cheeks and wiped the tears that fell from her dark brown eyes, her eyes were his favourite feature of hers too. "I don't want to hurt you."
"That's a lie." Mia scowled, "You've been hurting me."
"And that's why I want to stop ... this." Klaus gestured between their bodies, "I can't afford for you to die again, because of me."
"It wasn't your fault, I've told you many times that it wasn't your fault." Mia expressed, "And what about today with George, he told me what you did, with the flower. Why would you try and drive him away, unless it was just to be cruel?"
"You think I wanted this? To ignore you, I despised every second of it." Klaus told her, her face remained unchanged, looking at him with annoyance. "When I saw you with him, all I could think about was him touching you .... kissing you." His hands hovered above her hips, "He doesn't get to do that."
Mia heard his heartbeat quicken and decided to test his words, "You do it then." Klaus stared in shock at her boldness. Several moments passed and he remained still, Mia grew frustrated at his lack of response.ย
"I knew it." She shook her head, shoving him back. "This is all just a game to you. Oh, let's play with Mia's feelings, what's the worst that can happen?" She mocked him before whirling around and walking away, with the intention of going to her room.
"It's not a game to me, Mia." Klaus called out, trailing behind her. "Will you stop and listen?"
"No, I have zero obligation to be nice to you." Mia went into the room, attempting to close the door on Klaus but he stopped it with his hand and walked in, grinning when he realised what she'd just done. "You're clearly a cad. I bet you've told this story to countless other women. So you can take your fake declaration and shove it up your arse!"
"Now get out." She ordered, crossing her arms over her chest, the smirk residing on his face just fuelled her anger, "What are you smiling about?!" The Petrova turned around, her eyes widening once she'd seen where she was stood. "This isn't my room." She mumbled to herself.
I've missed her. "No, you're right. It's mine." Klaus smiled, walking towards her. He latched his hands onto her waist, causing her to shiver. "Are you going to let me explain now?"
"I don't need to. You can't control me." Mia sassed, trying to step back but failed. "I'm not yours, remember?"
Klaus' eyes darkened and his feet began to move. They both ended up against the wall, Mia gulped as her pulse accelerated. The Original smirked at her thumping heart, "You've always been mine, Mia." Her name rolled off his tongue naturally, as if it was only ever meant to be said by him.
"Stop it, Nik." Mia tried to push him away, however his grip remained firm. "Don't do that."
"Do what?" He cocked his head to the head, remembering how much he loved her face when she was angry. The furrowed brows and pout were too adorable to take seriously.
"Stop acting as though you're interested." She narrowed her eyes at him, "You can't just go from ignoring me, to professing your love. It's confusing and clearly all a joke."
His smirk dropped, as his eyes bore into hers.ย I need her.
I want her.
I can't let her go.
She's mine. "I do love you." He admitted, but all he received was a scoff of irritation.
He may have spoken the truth, but Mia couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. "Acting like a coward, since the moment I turned into a vampire, really tells me that you want me." Sarcasm dripped from her voice.ย
"I thought my feelings weren't reciprocated." Klaus explained. "You can hardly blame me, sweetheart. You didn't exactly show any signs of interest when you were human."
"Have you lost your mind?!" Mia groaned with frustration, "It was completely obvious that I harboured feelings for you, in fact several individuals had pointed it out." She poked his chest with her finger, "You were the one who didn't care so stop pretending that you do now."
We're just as bad as each other.ย "I do love you." Klaus repeated with a small smile. His eyes darted over her features, waiting for her reaction. He grew worried that she still didn't believe him, so he pulled her in closer, causing her to gasp.
"I have loved you since, I bumped into you and caused all your roses to fall, since you began that endearing rambling, and offered me a flower. Since you first smiled at me, since we spent time together alone. From the moment you touched me for the first time." He reminisced, causing both of their hearts to flutter, "I've been completely entranced by you, Mia." Klaus traced his thumb across her lips. Mia's breath hitched and she subconsciously parted them more, "You couldn't possibly understand the effect you have on me." His words were completely honest, they each wished they were said earlier.
"I hate you." Mia muttered, making his smile broaden.
They both knew she was lying. He didn't even have to listen to her heartbeat to tell. "No you don't, love."
"I should." The Petrova mumbled, staring straight into his eyes. "But I can't."
"Can I kiss you?" Klaus asked hesitantly, scared of the rejection he thought he would face. Mia nodded instantly, but the Original shook his head, almost mockingly, "I need your words, sweetheart."
"Yes." And with that their lips smashed against each other. Mia grabbed his hair, her fingers threaded through the soft strands whilst Klaus fiddled with the zip of her dress but it wouldn't budge so he gave up.ย
He picked her up and she immediately wrapped her legs around his waist. His lips left hers, giving her a chance to breath, and moved down her neck, sucking and licking the surface, in search for her sweet spot. She let out a soft moan once the kisses reached her collarbone, causing him to smirk against her skin, he grew addicted to the sweet sound and was determined to hear it as much as he could.
Klaus placed her on the bed, hovering above her, whilst Mia pulled at his attire, discarding the material onto the floor. She stared in awe at his bare body, dragging her hands down his abs, memorising every inch. And grew worried of the pain she'd endure from being with him, having only done it once before.
"Tell me if you want to stop." Klaus whispered, upon noticing her apprehensive expression. The last thing he wanted was for her to be uncomfortable, "We don't have to do this."
"I don't want you to stop, not for a moment." Mia told him, she moved her arm back to unzip her dress but was stopped as Klaus grasped the material and ripped it apart, throwing it to the side before attaching his lips onto hers once more.ย
Mia gasped, becoming insecure about her skin that was now on display. She sat up, pressing her chest against his, to cover it but he gently pushed her back onto the mattress. His eyes scanned her naked form, "You're so beautiful, my love." Klaus pecked her lips tenderly, "Don't doubt it for a second."
She smiled in response to his praise, her heartbeat quickened as his lips travelled lower, his hands gripped her breasts before placing his mouth onto one of her nipples. Grazing his teeth against the sensitive skin whilst fingers kneaded the opposite one. Mia's shaky breaths filled the room, as she shuddered from the unfamiliar wave of pleasure. He needed her, but tonight was about showing the girl how much she was loved. To make up for the month of neglect.
"You're mine." He continued to place kisses down her stomach, lifting her legs before nipping at her inner thigh. Mia inhaled sharply at the feeling of his hot breath, fanning over her core. Klaus glanced at her, "You will always be mine, Mia." He lowered his head, his tongue brushed across her clit and swirled around it, sucking the bud into his mouth.
The Petrova threw her head back against the satin sheets and tangled a hand through his curls, massaging his scalp to grant him some pleasure too. "Oh my god." She whimpered, bucking her hips upwards. She could feel Klaus smile against her, letting her know that he was delighted by her eagerness. He gripped her thighs, keeping her in place before pulling her further into his mouth.
His tongue glided up her slit, making quick work over her cunt, groaning at her taste. I could live between her thighs for all eternity. He looked up at her heaving chest, his eyes trained on the fall and rise of it. Klaus chuckled quietly, the vibration sending a shiver through her body as he continued, going at a torturous pace, savouring every part.
He pulled back, licking his slightly swollen lips. "Are you alright?" She glared back at him in annoyance, irritated by the interval. Nevertheless she nodded, reassuring him that she was fine, more than fine actually. "I wish you could see yourself, love. Truly a sight to behold." Klaus slipped a finger into her, adding another one once her walls clenched around him. He moved them in and out, drinking in the image in front of him, of Mia's parted mouth and fluttering eyes as the euphoria over took her.ย
The Original slowed down, wanting to tease her however that became impossible to carry out once pleads left her lips, "Don't stop, Nik." She moaned as he curled his fingers inside of her, hitting her g-spot. "Please don't stop."
"I don't plan to, sweetheart." He placed a feather light kiss on her thigh, picking up the pace as his fingers fucked her harder. The brunette's body shuddered, a knot grew tighter in her stomach until she felt her release. A surge of satisfaction rushed through her body, causing her back to arch. She panted heavily, riding out her high as Klaus continued to thrust lazily into her.
"You're perfect." Klaus whispered, kissing her right hip whilst rubbing the other one. "So good for me." He removed his fingers and placed them into his mouth, Mia stared with wide eyes as he sucked off the remnants of her pleasure. She placed both hands over her face, to conceal her embarrassment but Klaus moved upwards and pulled them away. "Do you trust me?"ย
"More than anyone." She responded, clasping a hand on the back of his neck, bringing him in for a chaste kiss to reassure him. He lined himself up with her entrance, placing a hand by her head. His heart hammered against his chest, at the sight of her. Her hair fanned out around her face and her tinted cheeks. Her dark, caring eyes bore into his, letting him know that she was ready. Klaus thrusted into the Petrova, causing her to whimper at the feeling. He leaned down and placed a kiss on her forehead before pushing himself in further.
She decided to count Klaus as her first love, since she was blindingly drunk when she lost her virtue to Jesse and could hardly recall the incident.
He began to move, in a slow pace, giving her a chance to become accustomed to it. Her brows were scrunched and the discomfort was clearly visible on her face, so he kissed her, as a distraction from the pain. His hips rolled into her, and she gasped once he'd hit a certain spot. Klaus saw this as an opportunity and his tongue delved into her mouth, groaning at the feeling of her.
Their tongues grazed against each other, moulding perfectly together. Mia became more comfortable as she felt the pain fade away and pleasure flow through. They moaned simultaneously as they kissed, causing shivers to brush each of their bodies. Klaus buried his head into her neck, slowly rocking into her, whilst whispering loving declarations in her ear. Mia wrapped her hands around his back, gliding them up to his shoulders and his neck, enjoying the feeling of his smooth skin.
He was holding back, making an an attempt to be as gentle as possible. Treating her delicately as though she could break under his touch. To him, she was an angel, his saving grace. Woe betide anyone who'd try and hurt her now. She was his, and he was hers.
This is what heaven must feel like. He thought to himself as more moans poured from her lips.ย It was natural, like they were made for each other but also felt foreign with the excitement and passion that'd been restrained since they met.ย
Mia raked her nails up and down his back, piercing the skin as he thrusted in deeper. Once she realised what she was doing, she brushed her fingers back over the healed cuts, stroking the skin. "Sorry." She whispered, pressing a kiss to his shoulder. Klaus didn't mind, in fact it seemed to fuel his desire, but the fact she apologised pulled him deeper in love. He knew he didn't deserve her, but since when did Klaus Mikaelson care about only taking what he was merited?
In the other room Rebekah was traumatised, "This is torture." She groaned, burying her head under the pillow, to muffle the sounds of the two reaching their climax.
"Slightly hypocritical, Bekah." A naked Tommy lay beside her, with only a thin silk sheet to cover him, "Leave them be, they're having fun."
"At least we had the decency to burn sage." Rebekah retorted, the pillow was doing little to decrease the noise so she threw it to the side. "That's my brother and my closest friend, put yourself in my position."
"Weren't you the one rooting for this to happen?" Tommy quizzed, squeezing her waist. "You should be happy they did it on their own accord."
"That doesn't meant I want to hear it." She squealed when he pulled her in, so she was on top of him.
"Well then, Miss Mikaelson." Tommy hovered his lips by hers, brushing them against each other in a ghostly manner. "It seems we'll have to create a distraction."
"If we must." Rebekah sighed dramatically. "I suppose I can lower my standards for 5 minutes."
"5 minutes, huh?" Tommy rolled them over, "You underestimate me."
~~~~
"You're quiet." Klaus remarked, pressing a kiss to the Petrova's temple. The two were sat in the bath, Mia's back was resting on his chest as she sat between his legs, with the Original's arms wrapped around her front. "Too quiet. Should I be worried?"
"Perhaps." Mia teased, leaning her head back against his shoulder so she could see him. "I'm just thinking."
"What about?" His fingers trailed down her inside of her thighs, causing her breath to hitch. She couldn't see the excitement of that ever dulling, his touch was enticing to her.
"Do you th-" She hesitated, wondering whether to continue. "Do you think my mother would be disappointed in me?"
Klaus furrowed his brows and his eyes filled with concern, "Whatever for?"
"Well this is the second time I've been .... bedded outside of marriage." Mia spoke quietly and was caught off guard when Klaus began to laugh. She gasped then elbowed him in the stomach, holding back the giggles that were threatening to escape her mouth. "You foul man, making fun at my expense. This isn't a laughing matter."
"I know, I'm sorry." Klaus chuckled, trying to control his laughter but failed. He came to an stop once Mia glared at him, "You said it with such seriousness, I thought there was something genuinely wrong."
"This is something genuinely wrong." Mia pouted, turning her face away in mock anger. "Here I am, bearing my soul to you and you have the nerve to laugh."
"You have to admit, it was quite the random thought." Klaus gripped her chin, tilting her head upwards to face him. "No, I don't think your mother would be even the slightest bit disappointed in you. How could she? When her daughter has grown up to become one of the most remarkable women on this pathetic Earth."
Mia buried her face into his chest, to hide her blush. "You have a real way with words, Mr Mikaelson. Anyone would think you have ulterior motives."
"Perhaps I do." Klaus lifted her up, then flipped the two of them around so he was hovering above her. "Those motives would only ever be intended for you." He bowed his head, peppering kisses along her collarbone.
"Not in here, Nik." Mia gently slapped his head, "It's dangerous."
"Dangerous?" Klaus arched a brow, bringing his lips to her jaw, nibbling on the skin. "What's the worst that could happen?"
"We could drown." Mia noted with a grin, knowing it would cause a positive reaction. Klaus glanced back of up at her with a look of amusement.
"You're one of a kind." He smirked, wrapping her leg around his waist and trailing a finger down her body, a delighted hum left her lips.
"So I've been told, by quite a lot of men actually." Mia beamed, this remark provoked him to apply more pressure as she let a moan.
"Other men, hm?" Klaus mocked, his eyes blessed with the sight of her. It was an image he never wanted to forget, and he doubted he ever would. "Who exactly are these other men?"
"It's a secret, if.. I told yo-" The Petrova's words were cut off by her pants, "If I told you, I'd have to kill you or myself."
"Nik." Mia sighed breathlessly. "Will you stop for .... one second so I can talk." She slapped his hand away, "You have no self control."
"Not when it comes to you, sweetheart." The Mikaelson man shrugged, before bringing their lips together. He thought back to all the time wasted on pushing the feelings aside and was set on making everyday their most precious. They pulled away from the kiss, coming back in for a gentle peck.
Mia pushed back the hair from his face and cupped his cheek, "I love you."
"I don't think I'll ever tire of hearing that." Klaus proclaimed, rubbing his thumb against her hip.
"Nor I, saying it." Mia agreed, "I love you, Nik."
"I love you, Mia."
They spent the rest of the weekend in his room, revelling in each others presence, being engulfed by love and lust, driving them further away from civilization and strengthening their bond.ย
A/N: HELLO MY DARLINGS. I hope you enjoyed that chapter.ย REMEMBER TO VOTE, look how long I made this. (Unedited)
10K WORDS?! Wtf is wrong with me?ย
Um.... don't know if I even have to ask but What was your favourite part of the chapter?
I mean... the steamy scene kinda made it all worth it. Soo.... Klaus and Mia are together now, I've actually become too attached to their 1920s relationship. Kinda forgot how rude he is in the present.
I am aware that George was the better choice, the healthier choice even. BUTTT as stated in the "Note" Mia is gonna do some things that some of y'all won't agree with. So, sorry to everyone on Team George.
Rebekahย @ Klaus and Mia
Little fun fact: Tommy and Rebekah's relationship was only meant to be a little joke to explain why Mia got drunk without anyone noticing but then I kinda got invested.
Thank you toย SIRENBRATย for all your help on this chapter and your constant support. Guys, the way I annoy this girl whenever I get an idea. It's constant. She has amazinggg books on her account so go check them out.
I have exams coming up so I might take a break, so you have this LONG ASS chapter to read when I'm gone. Feel free to revisit the old ones too.
