IMANI ROARK never wanted to be a hero.

ADMITTING SOMETHING LIKE THAT would've likely made little kids' heads snap to her in confusion because, truthfully, who wouldn't want to be a superhero? She knows how strange it sounds, but she didn't think of herself as capable of holding a responsibility like that. Neither did she want it.

AND IF SHE WAS BEING REALISTIC, in no way was she fit to be a hero. Her outlook on the world was based on a logic not fit for most superheroes. The last thing she needed was Tony Stark blasting open her Dad's apartment door because she did something not morally aligned with his standards. Or any established superhero for that matter.

HOW COULD SHE WHEN she was capable of lifting an apartment complex all the while floating above the city?

SHE DIDN'T WANT THESE POWERS, she'll never want them, and she will continue not wanting them until she passes over into whatever comes after life. And as long as Tony continued to try to urge her to gain some sort of grasp on them, she would neglect them for as long as she could.

BUT AFTER HAVING TO FACE OFF AGAINST the Avengers and her identity revealed to her quiet classmate, Peter Parker, who was Spider-Man, neglecting the truth wouldn't be as easy as she hoped. With being badgered by Peter and robberies happening around the city, she'd have to put her powers to use and try to be the hero Tony wanted her to be.

A GIRL WITH LITTLE to no motivation to do so, with little to no control over her powers, is thrust forth into an ever-evolving pendulum of conflict. Left to face it with a boy that she hated admitting she enjoyed being around and another whose ego was going to pop his head open. What could go wrong?

Originally planned for this to be a Shuri fic, but changed it last minute entirely based on my process of finding Imani's powers and how I imagine her arc to go. Along with the overall story and the Spider-Man trilogy, what I wanted to do would've only worked going with Peter.
