Pens and notes are scattered all over the floor. Cassidy's head rests on her arms. She fell asleep in one of the side rooms next to the Cortex.

She is tired from her recent trip to Coast City. After all, she had gotten up around 4 a.m. the day before to check everything dozens of times and to catch her train on time. The trip was long and flying was not an option. After all, people had messed with the climate too many times in the past. Flying was poorly regarded in society. Only over the oceans could people fly these days. But fortunately, the means of transportation of the future are fast and efficient. Under other circumstances, the young girl would not have been able to carry out her plan that fast. In any case, not without drawing attention to herself.

Then suddenly the ground begins to shake. Only slightly, almost imperceptibly. If the underground rooms of star labs had been built differently, Cassidy would have been shaken out of her sleep. But the girl notices nothing of what is happening outside.

The walls move as if an earthquake would be taking place. Exactly 11 seconds. Then it stops.

Unknown to Cassidy, a terrible fight takes place outside the laboratory. Too fast to be seen by the average human eye. Dark red that threatens to swallow shadows against yellow and silver.

Incessantly, the two speedsters hit the protective shield that seems to surround star labs.

Then, finally, the shrill alarm echoes through the entire building and wakes Cassidy Snart from her sleep.

She jumps up, looking around disoriented. All kinds of thoughts come rushing at her. With quick steps, she rushes outside into the hallway, black dots racing before her eyes. Cassidy rushes towards the Cortex. "Gideon? What's wrong?" Her voice echoes through the empty room.

"We're under attack. Since I recently exchanged information with my future version, I need to instruct them to execute the emergency protocol. The team is on its way here, Leonard Snart and Hartley Rathaway are the only one holding the line at Star Labs. You need to get to the machine as soon as possible."

A box comes off the wall, revealing a compartment with a backpack. "In this backpack is the equipment intended for Leonard Snart. If he doesn't make it to the machine in time, you will have to take his place."

"But how am I supposed to know what to do?"

"A version of me is installed on a watch. There is not much time left, our shield will give way in a few seconds."

Cassidy's hands start shaking as she puts on the backpack. Everything feels like a bad dream. Too fast. Too unrealistic. Red Death's attack had been expected by her father, Hartley, Wally and the others. And even she had expected it. Still, it seems like a distant thought to her.

The young Snart slithers around the corner and slips on the floor, in front of her she already recognizes the entrance to the hall. It took her two minutes to get through the maze of star labs and she can only hope that her father and Hartley can hold off the unfamiliar speedster for that long.

The alarm rings in her ears and Cassidy feels like she's going to collapse at any moment. He's there. He's here and he's going to destroy everything they've been working on for the last few months. If he succeeds, there will be no chance to save their Earth. With all her strength she pushes herself up from the ground and races towards the hall. He can't succeed.

Cassidy Snart was sure that she would not let him achieve it.

The lights come on immediately when Cassidy enters the room. Her frantic footsteps echo down the hall. The machine in front of her blinks along happily, unaware of the events around it.

Then suddenly the floor beneath Cassidy begins to shake, almost as if an earthquake is taking place.

Panicked, Cassidy searches in the backpack for the watch Gideon was talking about.

Then suddenly there is a crash in front of the door and Hartley is thrown into the hall with full force. His battered body slides up to Cassidy, who is holding the clock with Gideon tightly pressed against her.

Then she hears the familiar voice of Wally, who is desperately trying to buy time. Because of the alarm, she is unable to make out what the two speedsters are talking about.

Cassidy helps Hartley up. "Can you walk?" In pain, the man with clenched teeth answers something that sounds like a 'yes'.

"Leonard should be there any second, help start the prototype. Do you have the backpack?" "Yes" "Okay, listen: see the input box to your left? Enter the code 4679332." Hartley slides down one of the columns and holds his side. A cough escapes his mouth and he vomits blood on the floor. "Wally won't be able to hold him off much longer. Leonard isn't here yet, so you have to go!" "But I-"

"We don't have another chance. Please. You have to-" A cough interrupts him. "You have to get in there. It should all be entered by now. Gideon knows the rest. You don't have much time."

A blurred figure phases through the wall next to the door. "If I were you, I wouldn't do that." The speedster's voice sends a shudder through Cassidy's bones. He takes his time walking towards her at normal speed.

"Little Cassidy wants to save the world. Isn't that adorable?" Threateningly, he approaches Cassidy. "You must know.... Even though I'm in full control right now, he just won't let me have our mind. I bet your death would change that" His blurry, demonic figure raises his hand and pushes it towards her heart.

Before he reaches it, however, a metal band ties itself around his neck. Leonard Snart stands in the hall's entrance, breathing heavily with a metapistol in his hand. "Keep your hands off my daughter." He fires again, this time the metapower-suppressing band wraps around Red Death's legs.

A glance at her father signals Cassidy to leave. Hartley squeezes her hand. "You have to make it. You have to get to Earth 1."

The last thing Cassidy sees is the demonic figure of red death breaking free of the tapes, then she is swallowed by brightness.

EARTH 53

CENTRAL CITY, 2015

Thunder rumbles across the desolate landscape outside Central City. Lightning strikes the trees surrounding the field. The sky is cast in a red light.

Several feet above the field opens a dazzling white portal that appears like a rift in the clouds.

With a loud scream, Cassidy falls down from a height of 10 feet. The girl lands on her back with a pained gasp. All of her air seems to leave her body.

The white rift above her head fades into the electrically charged clouds. Cassidy watches the artwork above her as if she were in a trance. Dark, red-colored clouds broken by blinding white flashes. Tears run from the sides of her eyes, while the girl's gaze is fixed on the sky.

Cassidy feels the void inside of her. After some time she is able to perceive the sounds around her again. The thunder makes her wince. Slowly her mind realizes where she is.

The girl carefully picks herself up with a pained face and limps with a lowered body towards the road next to the field. Lightning strikes next to her as it begins to rain.

"Gideon? Are you there? Can you hear me? Where's the portal?" she yells into the watch on her wrist.

"In one minute and 32 seconds, according to Francisco Ramon's calculations, it should open on this very field. I advise you to wait in a low position. The storm can be very dangerous."

As soon as the dark blue portal at the edge of the field opens, Cassidy rushes limping towards it.

Once on the other side, she collapses on the hard ground. She has reached her destination. Earth 1.

I am so sorry for not updating!

I was just lazy.
