the time their parents were alive, they

approval, almost to the point where
dipperelm's entire life revolved around
them. 

but what will you do if the very cats that
raised and hone you to be this way are
gone? their parents died several years ago,
each of their siblings were slowly taken by
the illness, which left dipperelm to be the
sole survivor of their family's legacy. and
because their entire life was spent revolving
around someone, they project those feelings
towards their best friend, to feel a bit of the
familiarity that they never could have anymore,
since the cats they seek approval from was dead.
they are extremely emotionally reliant on
BAD PLANS, even if they hurt dipperelm, funneling
their energy in supporting and helping their closest
friend fix their mistakes and stick with them forever.
but instead of seeking for their approval, they yearn
for their love instead. 

other than being hopelessly obsessively in love with
their closest friend, dipperelm is an extremely smart
and sharp-minded individual, although they don't
feel that way. constant praise from clanmates
mean nothing, they need to hear that from a specific
person in order to feel some sense of pride. they strive
to work as hard as possible, not to selflessly helping
their clan, but to make sure their favorite cat appreciates
them. they also feel responsible for BAD PLANS's badly
planned actions, so they'll do their best to support their
best friend like an older sibling.

dipperelm at that time felt a huge responsibility
towards their family, and was naturally protective
with their younger sisters.

they were apprenticed to their father's sister, a 
formidable warrior known for her sharp tongue.
their father thought that snarlwhisker's skills would
rub off them, and he was right. dipperelm was a quick
and eager learner, ready to do anything that would
please their parents. snarlwhisker was actually a kind
and caring warrior under her hard exterior, and pitied
the young dipperelm, knowing that her brother is a tough
cat to satisfy, and made it her mission to ensure that
dipperelm gets the encouragement and love they needed.
now, dipperelm felt that their aunt was more of a parent
than their actual parents.

they were slowly gaining popularity as they grew older, not
only as the leader's kit, but also for their skill and intelligence.
and although cloudystar would never admit it, he saw dipperelm
as his most successful kit, and would show it in subtle ways.
another apprentice, galepaw, took an interest to dipper and 
became good friends, although his reputation is questionable.
still, dipperelm made it their mission to befriend the fiery tomcat.

when they were ten moons old, their father lost their last life under
unknown circumstances. this shook dipperelm and their family very
much, as they didn't expect him to die so early.

the deaths kept following. slowly but surely, dipperelm lost their entire
family. the only other cat that they're close too is galefire, and they're
dreading that he'll be next. windclan is dying of a strange and unknown
disease, and they live in fear every day, clinging to their best friend and
hoping that they both get to live another day. fortunately, the clans
found a solution - twolegs. at first they were extremely skeptical of the
idea, but when galefire made the decision to go, they followed their
best friend despite their own misgivings.

they never got to come out as genderqueer to their family, not even
snarlwhisker knows. inwardly, they're kind of glad that they don't
have to, as they fear how family, especially their parent's reactions.
