Chapter 6: Bonding Beyond Borders
Hira sat on her bed, tears streaming down her face as she hugged her knees to her chest.
She couldn't shake the feeling of sadness and fear that gripped her heart, leaving her feeling overwhelmed and alone.
Memories of past trauma flooded her mind, replaying like a never-ending loop in her head.
She closed her eyes, trying to block out the memories, but they refused to be silenced.
As she cried, she silently prayed for strength and solace, hoping that someday, someone would heal the scars of her past and she could find peace in someone.
With each tear that fell, Hira's body grew heavier, her eyelids drooping with exhaustion.
The weight of her emotions, coupled with the gentle rhythm of her sobs, eventually lulled her into a fitful sleep.
As Shubman stepped through the door of his home, his mind buzzed with a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.
He couldn't shake the image of Hira's tear-stained face from his mind, the vulnerability in her eyes haunting him long after they had parted ways.
Her pain had pierced his heart, leaving him feeling helpless and unsure of how to ease her burden.
With a heavy sigh, Shubman sank onto the couch, running a hand through his hair as he tried to make sense of the jumble of emotions swirling inside him.
He felt a mixture of concern, confusion, and a deepening sense of attachment to Hira, each emotion pulling him in a different direction.
He couldn't help but wonder about the nature of her past experiences, what had caused her so much pain, and how it continued to affect her present.
He recalled the moments when Hira had flinched away from his touch or avoided certain topics of conversation, signs that hinted at the depth of her emotional wounds.
With a furrowed brow, Shubman considered the possibilities, his heart heavy with empathy for Hira's suffering.
As the morning sun gently filtered through the curtains, Hira's eyes fluttered open, the remnants of sleep still clinging to her mind.
With a yawn, she stretched her limbs, feeling the familiar ache of exhaustion that lingered from the previous night's emotional turmoil.
Pushing aside the heaviness in her chest, she swung her legs out of bed and planted her feet firmly on the floor, determined to face the new day with renewed resolve.
With a quick glance at the clock, Hira's eyes widened as she realized she was running late.
Hastily, she moved through the familiar motions of her morning routine
Minutes flew by in a blur as Hira brushed her hair, applied her makeup, and hastily dressed for the day ahead.
With one last look in the mirror to ensure she appeared presentable, she grabbed her bag and suitcase and rushed out the door.
As she stepped into the bustling streets outside, the hustle and bustle of the city greeted her with open arms, welcoming her into the embrace of a new day.
With a sense of urgency, she quickly tapped out a message to Shubman, her fingers flying across the screen as she wished him well for the IPL final against Rajasthan Royals.
She expressed her regret at not being able to attend, explaining that she had prior commitments that couldn't be postponed.
Shub💜
Hey Shubman, just wanted to wish you all the best for the IPL final against Rajasthan Royals! I know you'll do amazing out there. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend as I have some prior commitments. But I'll be cheering you on from afar! Go Titans! 🏏💪
With a quick press of the send button, Hira sent the message on its way, her heart filled with a mixture of pride and disappointment.
Her phone rang, breaking the silence of the morning with its loud tone.
With a quick glance at the caller ID, her heart skipped a beat as she saw Shubman's name displayed on the screen.
Without hesitation, she answered the call, a mixture of anticipation and curiosity coursing through her veins.
"Hello?" Hira greeted, her voice tinged with excitement and anticipation.
"Hey, Hira," came Shubman's voice on the other end of the line, warm and familiar.
"I just received your message. I understand that you won't be able to make it to the final, and that's okay. Your support means the world to me, no matter where you are."
Her heart swelled with gratitude at Shubman's understanding words. "Thanks, Shubman," she replied, her voice filled with sincerity.
"I wish I could be there in person, but please know that I'll be cheering you on from afar. I have no doubt that you and the Titans will give your best out there."
His laughter echoed through the phone, a melodic sound that warmed Hira's heart.
"Thank you, Hira," he said earnestly. "Your words mean a lot to me. I'll make sure to give it my all out there, and One more thing, when is your plane headed today?."
"Oh two planes actually, first Mumbai to Delhi and then Delhi to Singapore "
As The call ended, Shubman's teammates couldn't help but notice the slight shift in his demeanor.
With mischievous grins and playful nudges, they exchanged knowing glances, their teasing banter filling the air with laughter and camaraderie.
"Looks like someone's got a special someone on the line," Rashid quipped, earning a round of chuckles from the group.
Shubman rolled his eyes good-naturedly, his cheeks flushing slightly at the teasing.
"Oh, come on, guys," he protested with a laugh. "She just called me to wish good luck to all of us.Nothing more."
But his teammates weren't about to let him off the hook that easily.
With exaggerated expressions, they continued to rib him mercilessly, their playful banter punctuated by the occasional whistle or cheeky remark.
With a grin and a shake of his head, Shubman finally silenced his teammates with a playful wave of his hand.
"Bas bas, enough," he chuckled. "Let's focus on the practice, shall we? We've got a final to win."
As the halftime break provided a brief respite from the intensity of the match, Shubman found himself unable to resist the urge to reach for his phone.
With a quick glance around to ensure no one was watching, he discreetly unlocked the device and opened Hira's Instagram account.
His thumb hovered over the screen, hesitating for a moment before he began scrolling through her posts.
Each image and caption offered a glimpse into Hira's world, moments captured in time that painted a portrait of her life outside of aviation .
